Samsung Gear s3 and Samsung Pay on LG V30 - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Switching from a Galaxy s8. Installed Gear S app which prompts to Gear S plugin and also Samsung Accessory Service plugin. Once installed, phone connects to Gear s3 Frontier fine. Transfers seem to be using WiFi Direct (not bluetooth). Once configured, notifications come across fine. The issue is when you try to use Samsung Pay (from either the Gear S app on the phone or from the Gear s3). When trying to launch from Gear s3, it prompts you to check your phone. It's suppose to download/install Samsung Pay for Gear. Instead it crashes on the phone. Then, in some instances, the Gear S plugin continues to crash over and over (a pop up appears every 10 seconds or so), even after closing the Gear s3 app. Have to reboot phone or battery drains quickly.
I had to uninstall/re-install components (which resets the Gear s3) and NOT try to start Samsung Pay to get the watch to be functional.
I know that it worked on my HTC One fine (was using while waiting for LG V30 to arrive).
Is anyone else experiencing this or gotten Samsung Pay for Gear to work on the LG V30?
Thanks!

You probably won't get Samsung pay to work on a nonsamung device. But good luck to you

Works fine on my LGV20. Im waiting for V30 to arrive. Samsung may need to just push out an update. They've been surprisingly good with supporting non Samsung phones.

So I got it to work. Samsung Gear app/plugin kept choking on Samsung Pay Plug in install. Searched and found the apk. Samsung Pay for Gear 1.5.2005. Installed it and all is working!
Hope this helps someone.

It's been working on other Android devices for a long while now. Not from the phone itself, but from the Gear s3. The issue was that the Gear s3 needs an android phone to register to. Still doesn't work on iOS.

Had to soft reset my Gear S3 and it looked to hang during initial setup with the v30 -- But I set it up again and everything works (including Samsung Pay)

LG G7 Thinq and Samsung Pay
I was having the same issue. I have used SP in the past with my gear S3 with non Samsung phones and on Samsung phones. I have always got the rewards and I have had full functionality of the app using my watch only. To use the app from the phone without the watch does require it be a Samsung phone, but not for full functionality from the watch. After getting this new phone however, the watch synced up fine, but SP would not finish installing. I noticed the earlier post about installing the older version of SP, it installed and immediately told me to update to the most recent version to continue. I selected OK, and it updated and the app installed and I was able to add my credit cards and it is now working again. I found the older version I installed by searching for;

Samsung dive services blocked?

I see that the international s2 is able to use the samsungdive.com services (tracking, locking, and wiping lost or stolen samsung products), but ours are not able to. I am assuming AT&T has something to do with this and asked Samsung to remove it from the phone in order to force us to use AT&T's find my phone and family features. I think they cost extra too.
I am frustrated to say the least that my buddy at work is able to access these features on his international s2 as am I on my Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I tried to remove the 'Samsung account 1.0' from my tab 10.1 and restore it on my s2 but was unsuccessful in getting it to work. Anyone else want to take a stab at this? If you sucessfully enable it, there should be an option under location and security that opens up called, "remote services".
Good luck!
You really need to "Rethink Possible." Just another "enhancement" brought to you by your favorite wireless company.
Agreed.

[Q] "Get More Applications" not working

Hello all,
I got the Gear S and Note 4 a few days ago. When i'm trying to "Get More Applications" (last menu option on the watch itself), I'm getting the following error message on the Note 4 screen (Samsung Gear Apps).
" Error This device does not support Samsung GALAXY Apps. Check available devices on the Samsung GALAXY Apps website. (1004) "
Gear S: SM-R750D
Note 4: SM-N910U
Got the Gear S in Tokyo, Japan and ordered the Note 4 from Expansys website so i don't think it's a region issue? I tried connecting VPN to many locations, cleared cache.. no luck.
I'm using the latest firmware, updated everything. I would assume that Note 4 is compatible with Gear Apps.
Any help would be great!
Don't you need an app on your phone for that process to work?

What do you mean? Samsung Gear is already installed on the phone. All options are working except the "Samsung Gear Apps " .. that's where you can access the Gear apps and that's where i'm getting the error message.
The person is saying that you need to download the app from the phone in order to install it on the gear. Instead of get more apps on the watch go to Samsung Gear app on the phone and click Samsung Gear Apps and try to download. From my understanding the phone will download the apps to the gear unless tizen has its own app store built inside the watch it self
The same problem as me. I got It asswell from Japan.Maybe the same seller on ebay.
Maybe when it is launched in our contries, (me I am in Spain) with a samsung store update its solved or changing the rom for it to recognazile it. My model is ending in d too. I posted my problem a few days ago in opera mini browser thread. Have a look. Also paired with a note 4 ending in F, tried with a note 3, it didnt work. Everything works except you said. I think its a country problem

I called tech support but the device is not supported yet so he said to wait until November 7 (US release).
I tried by odin diferents firmwares but it dint let me to install them. Mabey changing the mobile region or lets wait. If you find out please let me know.

Yes for sure.. if you find it yourself, let me know too! Can't get any apps!
I will try to go Docomo today and pair the Gear S with their phone. If i have the Gear S and another android from the same shop/region, it could work. They have Note 3 and S5. Will try both.

Well.. I came back from the Docomo shop and I installed the Gear Manager on their demo phone. I connected the gear s with the phone and .. it worked without problems. I installed many apps (ex: mini opera, etc)
So the problem is really related to location/model of the phone. Now, I don't want to go to the store to browser the apps! Hopefully Samsung will fix that.
Thanks a lot for your answer. I have to wait to the 14th and it is launched here in Spain and then an update to fix. Looks like the european phone and japanese watch dont work together only for the apps. Another solution is buying the note edge from docomo. They have it already realased. Jejje. Ok my friend. We keep in touch if we see any update or saomething elle.
regards

I believe he is saying his Gear S is a different region than his Note 4 so he went to the store where the Note 4 has the same region as his gear S to test it works. So his Note 4 is a no go until Samsung updates this phone to handle the Gear S. But the demo phone in store runs the firmware compatible with his Gear S that he bought

Correct.. Except I don't think the Gear has anything to do with it. The problem is within Samsung Gear Manager I believe. Also, I was able to install new apps in the store but when you connect it back to your own phone, the Gear S required factory reset! So it's useless. back to square one.
Hope it's just a question of updating the software. I will wait one week

Ok so the Gear S can only be paired to one device at a time or it will factory reset to use a new device. That sucks. Well hopefully the gear manager will be updated Nov 7th with the USA release or sooner so that your gear S can properly connect to your Note 4

The problem with ours is model ending in D (SM-R750D), the japanese versión, so is diferent country from our note versión aswell, I have been told today by a guy from Samsung that it should to be fixed by an update, hope so too.
Try by odin to install on the watch the latest firmware from sammobile but the watch does´t let do it, neither with others firmware. It souhld be any other way to get the apps and install them from the computer.

Samsung needs to fix country compatibilities, but I don´t know if they will do it. The american versión Galaxy works for sure fine with the american versión watch already. Cause, here in Spain, they do. I just went to a shop and paired the sample watch with another note4 european versión and I was able to download apps, so the software for the same región are already update for supporting this watch, now. they need to update it again to support devices from different regions, don´to know if this happens before with the gear 2 and neo

I'm still having no luck. The Samsung Gear app has been updated Nov.4 and Nov.6 but still doesn't work.
What is your status? Still same?
There should be a way to go around it or fix it...
The same as you, I had gear manager updated this morning but nothing, I think a samsung gear apps update would help, in the meanwhile let´s wait if the update or root it. I orded a new one but here in Spain direct from samsung spain with the circle for free and will give the japan version to my bother.
Have u tried install the apps again in your watch, go home, conect it to the pc and pass the apps to pc,the paired again to ur note and install the apps fron the pc? Damm location

[Q] 2 quick questions..

I've been wearing a Tizen converted Gear 1 for a year or two. I like it, but am considering the $200 groupon Gear S deal to upgrade to the S for the bigger screen, memory, and CPU. I was wondering if the S will work okay without a service plan.. Checking around with Google seemed to indicate that it would but I figured I would check with actual owners, just to be sure.
If you want to use it connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone it will work perfectly.

Thanks! That's precisely what I'm hoping to do!
That's how I use mine

Answer is yes. Some preinstalled apps won't work without pairing with Galaxy S3 or newer Samsung cell phone. It can be used w ith or without plan, and with or without pairing phone.

Samsung Pay not working on Tmobile S9+

I bought mine from Samsung.com and noticed that it says "Unlocked by Samsung" on the box. I don't know if that means the device isn't actually a Tmobile unit though. Anyways, Samsung Pay doesn't work for me. When I install it from Okay I Store, it says this device isn't compatible. When I install it from the Galaxy App store, it tells me a new update is available and the new features are "Brand new UX" and when I press OK, it just closes the app. Is it just because the phone isn't officially released yet or is it a software issue? Thanks.
If it says unlocked by Samsung you do not have the TMobile version.

Mine is SMG965U1ZKAX. I ordered a T-Mobile Midnight Black S9+ From Samsung.com. Everything about it seems like it's an unlocked model. I don't even get the T-Mobile splash screen when I reboot the phone. If it really is the unlocked version, I'm guessing that model hasn't been updated to support Samsung Pay yet. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I got the unlocked version instead of the T-Mobile version.
I went back to my order receipt/emails and checked to make sure I even ordered the T-Mobile model. Turns out, it's the Unlocked model. I know for a fact I chose the T-Mobile option but I guess not. Was the Unlocked S8+ compatible with Samsung Pay?
If you do not have a T-Mobile folder with T-Mobile apps on your phone, it means is not from T-Mobile.

I'm having the EXACT SAME ISSUE, but I'm on the unlocked U.S. version direct from Samsung on AT&T. It's been driving me crazy. Made the rounds on both AT&T's and Samsung's customer service phone lines and online chats. No help.
Any solution?

Turns out I do ha e the unlocked model. Haven't found a solution for samsung pay yet, though.
You guys probably have to wait for actually launch date I'm pretty sure this happened with the note 7... They don't push all updates unfortunately until launch dates for some services. So I'm sure within the next 3 days it'll be updated to support the unlocked variants

What doesn't work? My app launches and it allows me to sign in and add a card. I have not tried to use it as of yet. My phone is unlocked Coral Blue and has a Verizon SIM in it. I got the phone at 1030 and turned it on. About an 1 hour ago a update came. I didn't add Samsung Pay until after the update.
I got my unlocked from Samsung S9+ delivered today (3/14). With a Verizon SIM I was able to add a card to Samsung Pay and use it successfully at Best Buy.

Here's a link to a screen shot I took of the issue. It says Not compatible. It only shows this if I download from the Play Store.

I get this when I install from Galaxy Apps. When I press the OK or Cancel button, the Samsung pay just force closes. There's no updates for Samsung Pay in the Galaxy App store or the Play Store either.
https://imgur.com/NtTBTZG
I did get a software update this morning which I installed, but Samsung Pay still gives me the same errors. I called Samsung Pay Support a few hours ago and the guy basically said it's a known issue with the S9 and S9+ and that there should be an update pushed out "Soon" that'll fix it. Other than a factory reset, I think my only option is to wait. I'd rather not reset my phone unless I absolutely have to because I hate getting things set up again, lol.
Edit: I should probably add, I can't even set up Samsung Pay. I get those error messages any time I try to launch the app.
There's an update in the Galaxy App store and it's working for me now. Another user on reddit let me know about it.
