headphone volume limit? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I'm sure there's a warning for the volume when using headphones. After you agree, does it stay agreed, or do you have to reselect every time you restart the phone? Thanks.

No warning, that only exist in Samsung from what I've seen

Really? Awesome. Was asking cause my old g4 had it.

You're right, I had forgotten about that. But yes, no limit warning, that always drive me crazy on Samsung.

Agreed. My s8+ and s7 both have it.

The V30 has the warning. At least the AT&T variant I am using does. Goes away after the first time until you reboot then it comes back.

That's annoying. It's probably the #1 thing I can't stand about my S8. I'm picking my V30 up from T-Mobile today (hopefully) and really hoping that the T-Mobile variant doesn't have that stupid warning.

The warning is a little different compared to the S8. This one pops up on the bottom but keeps letting you volume up past it, you don't have to acknowledge it like you do on the S8. So it's more of a pop up warning.

Oh, ok. That's a relief. I can live with that, easily. Thanks for the heads up.

The Verizon variant has a warning too. But after agreeing I've never seen it re-appear.

I can deal with that as well.

The sprint version has the warning too.

The T-Mobie V30 does NOT have any volume limit warnings. I've tested multiple times over the past few days by going to 100% volume while paired with both my Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth to my car. No warning notifications to be found!
This is a huge relief coming from the Galaxy S8, which won't even let you turn the volume past like 75% without throwing an obnoxious pop-up into the middle of the screen and not letting you do anything else until you click the button to acknowledge the warning. Super annoying.

No warning that I've seen. Only annoyance is that every time I plug in headphones it sets the hifi dac volume to 50, whereas I prefer it around 55-60. You'd think that if they already have logic to switch to dac when a headphone is plugged in that they could also just remember the dac volume you had set when your headphones were last plugged in. Oh well, minor inconvenience having to volume up every time I plug in my headphones.

If my tablet is shut down and I want to charge I can't do it. Whenever I plug in the charger it boots up why can't I just charge and keep off?

Do it like this n should work. Plug the charger into the prime while its on. Then you power down the device like that should stay off.
Plug in the power first and then turn it off.

its weird because it happens to my samsung infuse too
could the outlet be pushing so many volts or something it just turns on i highly doubt this but who knows maybe its the outlet or something
uploading video of the issue now for all to see!
does anyone else have this issue?
Am I the only one who believes this is by design?
Nope I'm with you
may be by design i just thought it was weird because it happened to my samsung infuse too
same thing happens on my DX running Miui. I think its the firmware. For example, some of you let ur Atp charge 8 hours before booting up, mine didn't even let me have that option, it just turned on

Really? What would possibly be the logic?
I can shut off & charge my phone, camera, laptops, GPS watch, BT speakers, BT earpiece, 2 way radios, etc & not have them power on if they are off when I plug them in.
So... whats the logic here on the only device I have ever seen or used that does this?
I say its a bug and if not a poor design.

"Answering" my question with a question is not an answer.
So again, if a product is off & you decide to charge it for whatever reason you decide - and that reason is irrelevant really - what is the "logic" behind having it power on? What purpose does that serve. Just because you want to charge it does not mean you want it on any more than turning it on means you want it to auto play music. Doing 1 does not logically imply you want the other so what is their logic in deciding for you it will power up?

Can't I be curious? I did it again, oops.
Maybe the Prime cannot differentiate between being plugged in to a computer to be accessed or being plugged into a wall outlet for charging. So the compromise is that it always turns on.

As said before, it was also the case on the transformer TF101 and apparently on other devices as well... No idea what the logic behind it is (and I'm one of the guys turning his devices off when sleeping so it's a minor annoyance for me too, extremely minor though).

Speaker noise?

Alright, so I'm on Notorious ROM right now, but no matter what ROM I try, the thing I'm about to explain stays the same.
You know that tone you hear when you press the volume buttons in the home screen? To change the ringtone volume... It's all clear when that happens. By clear I mean no LOUD noise is coming out of the speaker. Only one thing. When you press the up/down volume buttons in the homescreen, or when "Audible selection" (under Settings -> Sound) is checked and you touch the phone (you know, some tone is being played)... I can hear a background noise like that fuss you hear on a Radio when it's not tuned right. It's not loud, but it's there.
But whenever I play a media (movie, game, I don't know), I hear a constant noise coming through the speaker. You know, like a FM radio isn't tuned right... just WORSE. For example, I play a game with the lowest volume - it sucks.
Can you try this for me, please? Put yourself in a quiet room and start a game or a musical or something, and turn the volume to the lowest. See if you can hear that... If you can't, put the speaker next to your ear.
I really am looking forward to your feedback. I'm starting to believe it's a hardware issue, but a software one, as well (otherwise that noise wouldn't be heard only when media is played). PLEASE !
Many phones will do this when they are plugged in and charging. Is it doing it when your phone is running on battery only? If that is the case you can always buy a filter for your AUX cord.

Thats what I figured...But the Aux cord filter that he was talking about is only for using a cable to connect the phone to the line in of another device. I tried it over and over again and the only thing I hear is my music (very softly because i turned it down as low as I could). My friend has an atrix too and he could not replicate this either.

Breaking the screen
The first one hard bricked, the day I got it when I attempted to unlock the bootloader...It was only an hour after I got it so I took it to AT&T and they replaced it. I guess they figured I couldn't have done that much damage in 45 minutes
The second one slid out of my back pocket as I was getting out of the car without me realizing it. It slid right in the door frame and when I closed the car door, the phone bent and the screen cracked. Since the main board was cracked, it quit booting =P I've had my current one though for 6 months and haven't had an issue. (I do have an otterbox defender on it)

That's exactly what I did with a friend of mine. We went to the shop for him to buy a HTC Desire, then we went to a McDonalds and I tried to unlock it. When the radio was flashing, he mistakenly pulled the cable - brick transformation!!! Then we went back to the store (20 minutes later), told them the phone was not booting anymore.

Just watch out for the future. No more waving at birds with your phone laced to the small finger... it may slip out and break more than just your finger . Hah, now THAT's stupid.

To protect my ATRIX, I have a MOMAX iCase Pro case on it. It snaps on so fast & easy, that it is just as easy to take off... so if you drop the phone, the case snaps off from the corner it lands. That happened to me. Lucky me, the crappy plastic of the phone barely got scratched on its right "cheek"... Need a new case (this one is rather used) or a tighter / thicker one. Oh well...

[Q] Phone randomly shuts down

I just received my new Incredible and am very excited as it is a huge upgrade from my trusty old Eris. I have one very annoying issue though. The phone randomly turns off on its own, and I have to press and hold the power button multiple times for it to restart. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, does anyone know how to turn off the annoying 'DROID' noise at startup? I tried the Silent Boot app, but it doesn't seem to work on this device.
Thanks!

Not normal. Make sure a program you installed isn't causing the issue first then think about returning it.

Definitely not normal. Perhaps your battery cover is loose?
I used to have to do something really ghetto to my original Incredible while it was near the end of its life. I put a folded business card between the battery and cover so it wouldn't jar itself loose and shut off the phone.
However, does not seem normal at all for a new phone.
The same thing happened to mine a few times. I think the power button is very sensitive. Just a small amount of pressure is needed to close the circuit and if its held that way for over 1 second then phone thinks your trying to initiate a shut-down so it does so.
Just thinking out loud here, not totally sure....

Yes I've noticed it takes a little longer comparing from my Thunderbolt. I can hold pwr button down, count to ten and it starts booting up. But with the Dinc4G, it does take a little longer holding down but it may be a quicker boot up time overall. This from just the two times or so how it seems to me ...I just got it so still acclimating and had already thoughts that the extended battery may be nice to just give me a little more to hang on to .

I received a warranty replacement that did that (randomly turning off). Was irreconcilable after talking with tech support.
My recommendation is to perform factory reset if you can, remove sd card, and see if it works properly.
If not you most likely have a hardware defect of some kind. Return or replace.

I did a factory reset and it still does it randomly. And it only does it when its in my pocket. I thought it was my case (i have the otter box commuter) so I cut it around the power button. Still it happened to me today. About getting a replacement, since it happens randomly far inbetween, there is no way for me to prove there is a problem.

No boot-up sound at all if phone is set to vibrate prior to shutdown/restart.

Speaker blown on the phone.

Symptoms:
No ringtone when the phone rings / when notifications is received.
No shutter sound when taking pictures
Cannot hear person on the other line when the phone is on speaker (blue tooth and wired headset works).
No sound when playing music (blue tooth and wired headset works).
No boot sound!
This happened within several hours of use. Guesstimate: About 7 hours after purchase
I also did a factory reset and the problem still persist.
This sucks 'cause now I scared to unlock the next phone when I return this one. SMH!!!
I'm really pissed off!
Even a blown speaker makes noise. Sounds like it became disconnected.

problem with the headphone socket or sound

Has anyone has problem when listening to music using the socket built into the main unit, sometimes whiles listening to music, the sounds seem to move to the left with the left side being louder, not sure if it's the socket or the some problem with the sound chip, but moving the plug of the headset is not the cause of the problem, but you need to pull the plug out and insert back in to get the sound normal.
sometimes just pluging the headphones in also cause the problem.
Yessss! I thought it was my headphones!!!
I have had the exact issue with my G5 also! Exactly as you described it, I had to unplug and replug the headset to get it to go away. I was using Skull Candy Smokin' Buds....you? I actually went out and bought the LG Tone Pro bluetooth headset instead.

I have a few IEM listed in my sig that I use, all expensive ones, so i don't think i will use a BT IEM to replace them, also cable IEM produce better sound for Hi Res sound, I have also found out that you can skip to the next few tracks/files and go back it will go back to normal, but in all case we shouldn't have to do anything to cover up the problem, I think it's a software problem, but my G5 is going back today and i'm getting a new one through a instore 14 day exchange policies.

my first had scratches on the silver line on the case, second had a white burn mark in the screen, and can be seen with all colors, this is my third one, not totally perfect, but I have the advantage of checking the unit in store for problems including dead and bright pixels, but the sound problem was only noticed a few days ago and I thought it was my IEM, but it happened a few times, I should have my B&O unit soon, but this problem should happen whether its hardware or software wise.
I just had an issue with the FM Radio - it kept saying headphones not plugged in! I pull them out plug them back in, and it was OK again! I am using my G4 headphones too so even the same make!! I hope I don't need to return it GRRRR
@jreed3786
I got a replacment phone yesterday, at first I though it ok on this unit, but the problem is there and it's on they same song file, therefore I think the DAC actually can detect this problem that may be it related to the actual file, could be a bad conversion causing the phone to perform like this.
that being said, I have a DSD file that starts to buzz when it reached the end of the song, it happens on the V10 and now the G5, and the time length on the file shows like -9206:-30, whiles played on other units it's ok.
You guys didn't push it in all the way. G5 for some reason has a lot of resistance on the port. I had same experience until I noticed the gap and decided to give it little more force. It clicks in hard and didn't have any issue after that

I know how to plug the headphone plug in, it's not that issue, it's more like a compatibility issue, I have comfirmed this myself numerous time.
Headphone jack issue and more
So I've also suffered from the issue with my headphones plugged in. My left channel is quiet and my right is loud. On one occasion the left channel crackled and completely died. Unplugging and plugging back in my headphones causes the phone software to correct itself. This happens at least every other day. Then, my phone became sluggish a couple days ago and started to freeze and suffer random restarts until last night when it froze and entered a bootloop on the startup screen. I pulled the battery and let it sit for a while and plugged it back in and it entered the OS but was sluggish. This morning I attempted to use messenger and it froze again and entered another bootloop and then died. I took it back to T-Mobile and I've only had it 18 days. They took it back under their 20 grace period and I now have my second G5. This same issue was prevalent in the G4 and LG has recognized that issue. I hope I'm not in for another letdown on this second phone. I just divorced Motorola... Where to next?

Not implying you don't know how. Just saying G5 has port that is tight. No pun intended.

that's ok, i didn't mean't for that either, but may be it stood out too much, I apologize for that, the actual issue is compatibility with the music file and the DAC, sometimes the dac can get really sensitive and pickup minor errors in the files to cause these problems, previously the few files that had the problem has been removed from the phone, no problem since.

I think your problem is a different one altogether, so is the second unit ok.

So the audio issue I was having is the same as the other posters on this forum. One channel with a low level and the other with a normal level and then having to unplug the audio cable to reset it. However, the ultimate failure of the phone is not. I was sharing with everyone what happened to mine and perhaps I should have started a new thread with that issue alone? I haven't had my second phone for even 24 hours yest so only time will tell and I will post and findings related to the audio here. I use my headphones during the work week so that is when I will know for sure.

Hmm. Very interesting. Thanks for the info. I did see many complaints with DAC on G5.

Exact same thing happening to me, will pan most of the sound over to one side making one ear quite loud and the other quiet. I find if I pause, switch to another app, than back to whatever music app I was using it usually resolves the issue. Hoping the B&O module helps but doubtful considering this seems software related. I'll probably just deal with it this way.
I have the Same issue via aux. Restarting Poweramp mostly helps

I bought it yesterday
Headphone jack is very very loose. I tried to different earphones.whenever i touch headphone jack headphone gets disconnected. Any one with this issue
Only problem with mic enabled headphones
Same problem though my normal headphones work fine. When i use my headphones with a mic it only plays the right channel. I have not always had this problem but seems to be lasting a lot longer today. Normally fixed itself in 30 seconds but has yet to. I tried restarting phone with headphones in, then again with them unplugged. Havent found a solution. Does the B&O module work?
