voip/international calls apps - OnePlus 3T Themes, Apps, and Mods

I'm trying to find a new app to make international calls with (UK to sweden). Been using localohone for years but it doesn't work over WiFi/data anymore and I have crap reception in my flat. When I have reception the app works fine. Can't use WhatsApp and similar things as most of the calls are to official bodies or elderly relatives who are IT illiterate.

Calls going straight to voicemail

Anyone else having a problem with Photon diverting calls straight to voicemail with decent coverage?
For the last month, intermittently my phone will notify me of a new voicemail of a call I have missed with no missed call notification. Upon checking, my phone typically has 4 bars and 3g connection.
This happens in the same place, as I work from home. It does seem that having WiFi on does make the situation worse. Also, using Google Voice for voicemail handling. Phone is stock rom rooted.
All in all, Sprint coverage with me as of late has been subpar. Twice in the last 2 months I have had a week or more of text and voice issues (supposed tower issues in my area).

[Q] Apps For Calling and Texting?

I was wondering if there were any good "VoIP" apps? I've used TextPlus Gold and everything. And I was also wondering how would I setup my Google Voice account if my Player isn't a phone? Any help and suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

For texting i use whatsapp. Wish i could use google voice though, but it's for usa only...

If you are on the US or Canadia, you can use GrooveIP for free calls for the remaining of this year using your Google Voice account with it.
I think you can find GrooveIP for free on the Amazon App Store.
For text, the same App, or just Google Voice.
To text internationally for free, Heywire.
I've tried to use heywire, but when i open it, it stays all time in the screen with the logo and it does nothing...

apps for call/text
Hey iLoveAndroid13,
for calling use Bobsled Calling... its a REALLY GOOD APP... by the way, I use the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 US Version and it works good for me.
and for texting... just use TextPlus, there's nothing bad in it, but its only good use for you if you want to text to US/Canada.
I heard Whatsapp Messenger is good too.. but its not compatible with my device.
Anyhow, I used to use GrooveIP but stopped because the quality is bad.
Hope I helped!
I tried all these apps but they are for USA and Canada only. Heywire is not supported in my country.

You Don't unless you have a GV account. And unfortunately for people living outside North America, there are no "free" options that i know of. You can however, if your country is supported, get a "paid" number from Skype and make very low cost calls.
I'm in Canada and we just got a free app called "Dell Voice" which gives you a free "local" number with which you can make unlimited local calls and unlimited long distance calls to any cellphone/landline to most areas in Canada. And Dell Voice to Dell Voice is always free anywhere in the world.

Based on the specs of this device - while fine for text and light browsing, it would be poor for making/receiving calls. You need at least 3G Data - preferably 4G speed for quality calls.

For me Really works great on making and receiving calls on normaly cellular net, because the Gmate its a mini Cell Phone without screen and keypad that uses Bluetooth link for transmit and received signal with player.
in two weeks of use, I have not experienced any problems of quality in my calls
and when I say none is none

I know but sometimes i give to my friends the player so they can play and i go to do other stuff.
And if i forget to take it with me so i wont have a phone.
And if i want to take it so i can surf in internet or something like that and i walk from this device more than 10 meters i cant recieve any calls.
Or if you go to the bathroomthat are more than 10 meters distance and the player is on your desk you wont recive calls.
If they were doing it really small so i can put it in my galaxy case or make a device that is connect to the the player it was great because than you always recive calls.
Its really great idea but its not so comfortable to make the device be all the time near the player

Hello
Maybe your country has better edge data networks than others because here in Canada, edge is only good for light browsing. Also, most edge providers block any voip action. Which is why i don't recommend purchasing this if it only supports edge data networks.
Here is something similar i can get in Canada that gives you faster speeds than edge - shop.windmobile.c a/ProductCatalog/Handsets/DatastickDetails.aspx?id=Huawei%20E583(WINDCA)

[Q] DELL VOICE QUALITY OVER 3/4g

Hey guys I'm a pretty new member but I want to save on my phone bills by using a flextab from bell on my sg3 and I like Dell voice because you can port your number. Anyone find the voice calls over cellular networks absolutely horrible compared to wifi? I was wondering if there's a fix for this or somehow a way to make my phone think it's on wifi even though it isnt; if that would even help.
Thanks!
By the way I'm in Canada so Google voice isn't an option for me

What version are you using currently? They seem to have released a new version that says it has better call quality. I have an SIII on Rogers and the quality is pretty good with the new update. It uses about 32kbps up and 32 kbps down so any decent 3G connection should be able to handle the calls. What is bad about the voice?
Also, since you are using Bell you have no EDGE fall back option, which it doesn't work very well on. Where I live, all I get reliably is EDGE so I have to rely on my WiFi for calling. When I'm in the city though I have had some long conversations without too much issue.

Thanks I did the know that! Maybe I should try getting the Rogers flex plan but I heard that it won't work on cellphones.

Best VOIP

Curious what you guys feel the best VOIP method/app is for free calls to other phones is. I don't want to include solutions that require both parties to have the same app installed, so only VOIP that allows you to call phone numbers.
All I personally know about is GrooveIP and Talkatone.
I'd like whatever gives the best overall call quality over 3G, and when on WiFi, hopefully sounding like a perfect call.
I appreciate any input. Thanks all!
Any input at all, guys? VOIP can be very handy at times, even with unlimited talk. I have a friend in the NY area who cannot get signal due to towers being down, but his wifi a home works fine. He used Talkatone with some success, but I'm wondering what out there is better.

I use Google Voice (GV) for most of my VOIP communcations, and even have my home phone linked to GV via an Obihai OBI100 adapter, which costs about $40 one time on Amazon. So far, calls to the US and Canada have been free, but that gets updated by Google on annual basis. I don't think anyone knows for sure yet that those calls will continue to be free in 2013, but here's an Obihai forum thread discussing that and the concensus seems to be that they will. I can't understand why people pay $25-$40 per month for a VOIP service like Vonage when they can get the same thing for a $40 one time cost, but I guess ignorance is bliss.
On my phone I use Groove IP (paid) when I want to make phone calls over Wi-Fi, mostly with my backup phone which is not currently activated, and it works very well as a front-end to GV. I use Skype too, but unless it's a Skype-to-Skype call I've found the GV connections to be higher audio quality.
Here's a pretty good article on VOIP alternatives for Android devices.

Yes. Keep all my old android phones around as wifi only house phones with 2 apps. Google Voice and Groove IP

Connection Problems during calls

Hey guys, I could use some help over here: My problem is, that the quality of speak during calls is a catastrophy. Most of the time I can't unterstand my partner. While in austria (or any other EU-country I've been since) there is no problem with calls. In germany, where I am the most of the time, I'm not able to receive or make calls because of the bad quality. What could this be related to? When I switch the SIMcard to another phone, voice calls are no problem.
Some Infos: My provider(Otelo) offers LTE but doesn't offer VoLTE. I'm running the Mi A1 with Android 8.1. 4G internet works fine.
Maybe some of you can give me some tips how to solve this problem.
Best regards
Flippo
Update: The problem only occurs when the phone drops down to 2G for calling( my provider offers a very poor 3G network, so nearly Everytime). When there is 3G available, call quality is absolutely clear.
