Does this activate dm-verity? Unlock image when the device turns on?
Are they still being updated via OTA?

can anyone confirm this actually works

Tell me, please, can I use this method to unlock the bootloader on a similar smartphone Sharp Aquos S2?

Model: ASUS_Z01KD
Android: 7.1.1
WW_14.1060.1709.80
is not working. ;(

This works 100 % ( frp bypass ) !
Phone is locked by google account , setting back to factory settings dose not help !
Short story what you have to do :
1 unlock bootloader -> ZF4_ZE554KL_UNLOCK -> ze554kl_unlock.bat
2 install custom recovery like TWRP 3.1
3 disable dm-verity -> flash -> no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 , reboot to recovery , do a full system backup
4 this is very important don't forget to flash dm-verity , otherwise boot-loop !
5 clear cache or do a factory reset
6 done !
7 when the phone starts , every time there will be a annoying message , totally normal ,don't worry !
Here are some pictures about the unlocking process

Model: ASUS_Z01KD
Android: 8.0.0
WW_15.0405.1803.99
Seems to work!
UPDATE: Relock does not work! Anyone have any suggestions on making this work?

Work on Oreo 8.0? I can restore to use warranty?

Yes, it works on 8.0, I did all the OTAs first. Not sure on warranty.
Tips:
* Get Developer mode and ADB shell working first (tell the phone to always trust your computer)
* Volume Up+Power on for fastboot mode, Volume Down+Power on for recovery. Long hold power to force phone off (unplug USB first).
* Use this version of TWRP (thanks shakalaca): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620764455
* no_verity_opt_encrypt 6.0 works: https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
* Make sure your USB cable is unplugged when booting to TWRP recovery or it will hang. You can plug it back in once TWRP loads.

Is there a possibility to get this to work with a ZD553KL (Selfie)?

I've been looking inside has the file relock.bat, does it serve to block the bootloader of zenfone 3 zoom ze553kl ?

does this method lose userdata or not?

What did you do to keep your device in a bootloop?

The problem has already come with the device since I bought zenfone 4

hello, friend, I just can not say it's already the third time he has entered bootlooping without me doing absolutely nothing. my question is several first I can do the procedure of unlocking the bootloader with the device in bootlooping. secondly if I make a hard reset I start the device normally.third and last these bootloader unlock files are for android 8.0 and 8.1

From what I know it is possible to unlock the bootloader with the device in bootloop (but since the problem is something in /data). But if it is already the third time that happens, how did you solve the other two times?
And the unofficial unlock method works on Android 8 (ASUS has never released Android 8.1 for Zenfone 4).

Just wanted to say that this method worked on the Pie beta as well (tried myself), in case someone is wondering whether it works or not.

[q] rent a center lock removal

So has anyone find out how to get this rent a center lock off there phone besides using cm rom? I've seen that it can be done cause ppl offer to do it for a fee. I currently have cm on mine do to the lock, but would really like to figure out how to get the lock off so I can use the original. I've researched and researched for hours to try and find a way with no luck at all. If anyone can be kind enough to tell me how or point me in the right direction I would surely appreciate it.

i have the same problem do you resolved this issue u bgought a phone 1 month later is blocked
Nope still haven't resolved it, still looking into it
Found it here is what you do This is a permanent fix for Samsung Galaxy S5 firmware locked by Rent-A-Center . Should also fix S5 phones locked by computrance absolute software .
This does not unlock your network carrier.
1. PLEASE READ ALL THE STEPS FIRST and ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE NOT CLEAR.
2. Download Odin3_v3.09
3. Download TWRP or any other custom recovery of your choice.
4. Run Odin and flash TWRP or any other custom recovery of your choice to your phone. This will set KNOX security flag to 1, meaning no more warranty for the phone if you send it to Samsung to repair something else. Follow this http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-galaxy-s5/ or watch this
5. Boot into custom recovery ( with phone off, press and hold Volume Up and Home keys while turning on the phone ) and Wipe -> Advanced wipe -> Wipe System, Dalvik, Cache and Data. This will erase everything on the phone. No need to do ROM back up as we have Stock ROM available for this model to go back if needed. Your choice.
6. Go to Advanced -> Terminal Command -> hit "Select"
7. Type in these 2 commands:
8. mke2fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persdata
9. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persdata
10. Go back to the Home screen of the custom recovery. Wipe -> Factory reset.
11. Reboot
12. You can flash stock software for SM-G900T back into the phone. Please be aware that if the original software of the phone is 4.4 , you can flash any software newer than 4.4 . If it is 5.0 , you can only flash any software newer than 5.0
BTW I do NOT take credit for this I just found it on another thread and reposted it. I do not know who actually found it but I do thank them very very much. Worked on my note 3 sm-n900t

This method worked on a Note 4 (SM-N910T) that I picked up today, at a pretty good price too!
If this note 4 has never been messed with, it looks like RAC voids the warranty when this message pops up. Warranty bit said 1 when I booted into download mode.
I bought a note2 off ebay and this morning a rent a center lock popped up. Anyone have the solution, and if so in "for dummies" terms? Havent done code for 15 years since my visual basic and old webpage design classes. Id really appreciate any help.

It appears that the RAC custom rom loaded by rent a center trips knox in general. I have the note 4 RAC, never had the lock and knox was tripped from day 1.
That sucks! Wonder how warranty will work then?
Help! explain?!

unfortunately it did not work on my n910t, can you please tell me how you got yours to working? and more over mine is running 6.0.1 marshmallow

I have a note 4 with same issue and i can not get it to boot into custom recovery. Just keeps booting to downloading screen..... can someone help me out plz
I bought a blu vivo 6x an rent a center has locked it can someone help me unlock
Is this thread still accurate for newer Samsung phones like the Note 8 or 9? Assume the best case scenario - Unlocked international version, so the bootloader can be unlocked (tripping knox).
What kind of lock is the Rent a Center lock? Do you just need to wipe everything and flash a new ROM? I think some carrier locks are SIM locks, and they are not wiped out simply with a new ROM.
Thanks!
does these code work for note8,if anyone know how to unblock my phone from RAC,i will pay you,,email me @ [email protected]
Anyone know how to take off rent a center lock code on samsung 9? Bought the phone 2 weeks ago and it was fine til today

need lyf water 7 stock rom

i am using a lyf water 7 LS-5504 android phone and recently tried to root my device and succeeded. but a week after rooting my phone unexpectedly does not boot anymore. when i press the power button i can see the boot screen but its stuck there.i can boot the phone in recovery mode (or fastboot or what ever mode you would like to call it) and i have already tried factory reset, partition cache wipe, hard reset and what not. i'm guessing the only way left is to flash a rom but i did not take a backup of the stock rom and i cannot find a rom for my device anywhere online. not even the stock firmware is available. i would really appreciate it if someone can help me find a rom for my phone so i can revive my phone because its the only one i have and i have not been able to use it since 2 days and i cannot take it to an official store since i unlocked my bootloader even if i did the store is closed in my city for 3 more days. i really cannot manage without a phone for that long.
<SHORT VERSION>
- LYF Water 7 phone. model no. LS-5504
- its soft bricked
- i need a rom to fix it
- i cannot find a rom for my phone's model anywhere in www(online)
- stock rom if possible but anything that works is cool
-asap or my life and my job will face a disaster.
Can u please tell me how do u root your lyf ls 5504
---------- Post added at 05:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:57 PM ----------
U just go to recovery mode then try to clear the cache partition for 4 to 5 times then hard reset your phone and it will start working.

Redmi 5 Plus Fake Global Rom Random Hardbricked

Guys, I recently bought a redmi 5 plus that installed with miui 9.2.0.2.
It can randomly bricked after a few days use.
When it bricked, I cannot boot into recovery mode nor power up the device, the led light keep blinking when charging and nothing will ever show up on the screen no matter what I press.
All I do is take it to service centre and they will open up the device back cover and boot it, but they will never tell me what they did.
Now the third time I go to service centre, they accused me for unauthorised opening the back cover due to scratch at the side of the screen, so the warranty is void.
Please help me get out of this nightmare, I want to know if I flash global dev rom to it, the problem will be solved?
If yes, how do I do it? Is it possible to flash with the updater? Or only testpoint method? (Note: this device is installed fake vendor rom)

if your device is completely bricked then you have to do test point method. It is not very hard, and it will make your phone work again, flash chinese beta rom and unlock bootloader if you want then.

Can I flash global development rom directly from a fake rom? From what I read in other thread, Chinese development rom will come out with error 86006
Personally i have a MEE7 version phone, you can check yours in the phone box. I had a fake rom and couldnt update or flash anything. So i did test point, flashed chinese developer rom and succesfully bind my account without any error whatsoever and no need for any vpn at all. So now i am only waiting for 15 days to go by and i can unlock.

No you cannot flash global rom over fake rom - it will brick the phone - tried and tested.
test point method to chinese developer rom, unlock bootloader and then flash global rom.

Advice for reviving a Z2 with the best current + stable ROM

Dear XDA friends  I know this question has been asked before, but my current smartphone just died today and I'm in a hurry to revive my good old Xperia Z2.
Before I start I want to install a more current ROM than the last stock ROM (Android 6.0). What would you advice?
It should be stable, as few "not working" items als possible and current - in this order. (I unplugged the NFC chip anyway, camera and camera quality are higher priorities.)
Oero would be nice, but Nougat should do the job as well if there are more stable ROMs for it.
I want to install the ROM and then work with it as it is (no other mods and so on).
I would prefer one of the more known ROMs like Lineage or Resurrection Remix.
Forgive my "Let me google it for you" question, but you would really help me. Thanks in advance!
Ok, I'm pulling back my question after spending 6 hours to boot into recovery without success I've unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp but I can't boot into recovery neither from adb nor from key combinations. I can't root either. From what I've understand so far I have to go back to an older android version, then root, then do some other nasty stuff. I guess I'm out

Power + volume up should boot into system recovery ("no command" displayed). I haven't tried it and now I'm afraid to as the phone is already set up ? If it wipes without confirmation, it's definitely a bug.
It's also happened with me

Usually it wipes when you try to change slot to an old firmware version, it can be avoided, as explained by Typhus in other threads; however I never seen a factory reset obligation while completely stock, we need more info to be sure. As of now, I can access stock recovery as usual.

Phone should ask you if you want to wipe data after 3(5?) unsuccessful boot attempts (corrupted data or trying to boot old incompatible rom in second slot). At least this was the case on Mi A1. I'll try the behavior when I get another A3 phone.

I'm not sure how to intentionally corrupt data partition, while bootloader is locked; any tips for testing purposes?

It happened to me on A1 when I booted Oreo system after update to Pie. I forgot to turn off Oreo Substratum overlays before updating the phone. After the update, I was getting constant SystemUI crash, so thought that I'll fix it by booting Oreo slot and uninstall the overlays. Well, it didn't go well.. after a few failed boot attempts (Oreo and then also Pie) system asked me if I want to perform full data wipe to recover the phone, which I did [emoji846]
So maybe similar approach by booting previous Android version might be tried once this phone gets Android 10 update..?
Yeah! Bro ,
(Same pinch) - same thing happened with me also when I tried to boot my phone into recovery mode
It directly formatted unknowingly and
no options were displayed onto the screen
It directly got formatted without giving any warnings
A animated circel logo & A message apeared on my screen
:- Erasing...
And that's it , I got very much scared
But what is the use of being afraid now, what was to happen has happened

But I have not unlocked my Phone's bootloader & I have not installed any third party Rom to my smartphone,
It is a normal handset without any interference of mine,
Overall I have not performed any type of "advance action" in my Mi A3.
