I can't unlock my Sony Xperia XZ Premium bootloader - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I am trying to unlock my Sony Xperia XZ Premium's bootloader as I am wanting to use EE (UK)'s VoLTE service (it only works on EE firmware and the device I bought from CEX (UK) second hand has Vodafone UK's firmware on it so therefore won't work). However, in the phones' Service Menu, it says the bootloader cannot be unlocked despite OEM unlocking being enabled in the Developer Options menu. Is this a mobile operator problem or is my device faulty. Please help. Thank you!

[Q] What about simlock?

Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!

Bootloader unlock still not allowed?

Hi Guys,
I purchased the tablet yesterday from the o2 store, o2 have provided me with the unlatching code and now the tablet is sim free
When i enter the service menu though it still says bootloader unlock allowed no.. I was under the impression that the sim unlock would also remove bootloader restrictions?
No, simlock is totally unrelated to bootloader unlocking.

[Q] SIM unlock

Hi guys!!
I've bought my sony xperia z2 from France and its locked to Orange network in france, now I've moved to UK/London, my phone is 4.4.4, I've flashed unbranded UK 4.4.2 firmware in order to unlock the sim, but it still asking for the SIM network unlock PIN, I've tried two firmwares (17.1.A.2.55 UK unbranded) and (17.1.2.A.0.314 UK generic/unbranded).. they've flashed successfully but the phone still asking for that unlock PIN.
How to solve this problem and unlock to mobile network so I can use an UK SIM?? My UK SIM is (LYCAMOBILE).
Thanks for reading and special thanks for helping!

No and no.
This has been answered before. If you bootloader is locked, there is no practical way to unlock it.

bootloader unlock, operator unlock, and rootstatus . should i buy the z5 compact?

Hi
im thinking of buying the z5 compact thru three (3) sweden and i get a good deal on it from my current operator however it is bootloader locked and operator locked.
sorry if its asked before but i cant seem to find it.
What is current dev.? do we have bootloader and/or operator unlock available ?
thanks
Three UK only supply sim free network unlocked devices for all there handsets now payg or contract, meaning they can be used on any network and the Bootloader can be unlocked. One of the reasons I am a three customer must be the same everywhere they operate. The handsets only have a three splashscreen with no bloatware
