Expecting more ROMs for Honor 7x!
I don't own the device so I can't debug anything on my own, but if a few people would be willing to PM me then I'd be happy to make a kernel for it. I just need people to get back to me with logs so I can ensure everything works as it should. I don't think I'll ever actually pick it up due to its cost but I can help the community here to a degree.
No promises of anything but it's a start. I won't be able to do much until this weekend though. Finals are around the corner.

People have ordered the phone today i guess since it was the first day of sale..
Phones will be reaching out after a week almost so i think thereafter we ll be getting people to start playing around with their devices..

The bad thing is that Honor can't force HiSilicon (makers of kirin SoCs) to release documentations of SoCs like Qualcomm do
I have the Indian version of the phone so if some developers can create kernels for testing i would test them..
need more developers for Honor 7X.. hopefully project treble would be of help

Is the Honor 7x an HI6250 Device because if it is, it's entirely possible that my ROMs, which work for EVERY OTHER Hi6250 device (Afaik )might work for the 7x as well.

Nope, honor 7x is kirin 659
I think hi 6250 are p9 lite and others like 655 kirin etc which are older ones..

Nothing is found in the path of Honor 5X to Nougat. Still, some ppl do think that it won't be successful. So don't expect it. It might or may not.

our chipset supports nougat
and our device is being shotlisted
plus its the second popular and second most selling device among honors right now..
everyone knows these things, including honor,
and if honor, knowingly do such mistakes as not providing updates, they know their market values will be decreased..
so i think chances are high..

Hardware capabilities should should also cooperate to get the new updates.
I'm not saying that Honor 5X won't get any updates. Still I don't have much confidence for Nougat

What exactly you say by lacking hardware capabilities? I guess Qualcomm snapdragon 616 supports Nougat.

There are other technical things too contributing to it. We can't disclose it either. If it gets successful, then Honor 5X will taste EMUI 5. As of now it's not going fine. But there is a little hope still left. That's what I can say.

Beta testing is not started. Initial internal compatibility testing is going on. If it gets successful, then Beta testing will be started by Jan or Feb.

As i have noticed in honor database , there were emui 5.0 ota update for x phone..
just hope on custom rom guys, which as we know, happening at alpha staage..
we will get it soon

Nougat is nougat bro..
We can make cm to be look like anything and act like anything..
With a cm theme and exposed for nougat(hopefully) we can theme and implement nearly.

Which model ? KIW was having it ? There were some bug fix updates. I didn see EMUI 5.

I think he is requesting an EMUI 5 port for our Honor 7 which is really unlikely to happen in my opinion.

We will get nougat custom romim pretty sure
eddydc1, no custom ROM is going to be fully featured, 100% hardware compatible and bug free. It simply cannot happen as we dont have source codes and drivers. Modders can try to use original files and software blobs but it will be always hit or miss. Huawei and Honor hardware working on Kirin SOCs is close sourced, not documented and not widely supported.

And personally saying, it's the first time I'm using Honor device and I'm quite happy with its performance.
I've used a lot of devices and have been active on many of the forums contributing to their respective development programmes.
But here, I'm kinda pissed seeing the threads that are only for the BKL-L04!

We're going to get some updates such as gpu turbo and emui 8.1 for the BKL-L09 but we have to wait. September for the turbo and a little more for android upgrade

Next update is for L-09 is fixed for Sept...
The one with turbo gpu ..
They have already confirmed Indian varient will get EIS so its just patience from us that's required

I can understand fully why you would be frustrated. Unfortunately, I don't have info regarding update timelines for various regions. I only have info about the US.

I want to calm everybody down. This phone hasn´t been released yet in all countries. I bought it today as it was released today in Poland.
It will take time for devs to get the phone, wait for bootloader unblocking and then make something that at least boots and has WiFi.
I'm sure this phone will be popular, because there's not much difference between this and pro version.

Yes but K20/pro are quit long time in released, and much better support is for k20pro model, even in developer and stable chines firmwares. ( so it means in EU ROMs too. ) K20/pro models are exactly same as mi9t/pro, just missing band20 . we can use same roms.
I hope k20/mi9t will be popular as you said, but i am not so optimistic

Mi 9 SE already has custom roms, despite for being less popular and significantly worse than Mi 9T. We Will get something eventually

Yeah, no much difference apart from completely different SOC. So, basically in terms of development, that makes it completely different and developing is being done from scratch. Especially if we take into consideration that SD 730 is quite new. So, sorry, but no sorry. The development will take time.

Yeah, also in my opinion it would make sense that the two phones (k20 pro and the Mi9T) had different forums. Yes they are similar in hardware but the most important part, the SOC is entirely different.
The k20/mi9t has been launched in India, it's a bit overpriced here, many devs here aren't buying it probably, they are instead buying k20pro/mi 9t pro, so development might be slow and less.
In the near future there will be nothing custom?

k20 = mi9t
(k20 pro = mi9t pro)
So it's been almost two months since Android 10 release and still almost no sign of a ROM for the Mi 8 Lite. Does anyone have an idea what's so hard about building it? Or is it because of the small community of this phone?

Latest intel the gsi builds work except for one simple but important thing, the camera. No one has been able to make the camera work, they suspect the camera is on a module of his own and hasn't been easy to make it work on 10

Android 10 roms are close to release and i'm not talking about GSI, since our devs have been working hard since the release of android 10, Platina is not that easy to work.
