Nothing is found in the path of Honor 5X to Nougat. Still, some ppl do think that it won't be successful. So don't expect it. It might or may not.

plus its the second popular and second most selling device among honors right now..
everyone knows these things, including honor,
and if honor, knowingly do such mistakes as not providing updates, they know their market values will be decreased..

Hardware capabilities should should also cooperate to get the new updates.
I'm not saying that Honor 5X won't get any updates. Still I don't have much confidence for Nougat

What exactly you say by lacking hardware capabilities? I guess Qualcomm snapdragon 616 supports Nougat.

There are other technical things too contributing to it. We can't disclose it either. If it gets successful, then Honor 5X will taste EMUI 5. As of now it's not going fine. But there is a little hope still left. That's what I can say.

Beta testing is not started. Initial internal compatibility testing is going on. If it gets successful, then Beta testing will be started by Jan or Feb.

As i have noticed in honor database , there were emui 5.0 ota update for x phone..
just hope on custom rom guys, which as we know, happening at alpha staage..

Nougat is nougat bro..
We can make cm to be look like anything and act like anything..
With a cm theme and exposed for nougat(hopefully) we can theme and implement nearly.

If it is not KIW, then its not for 5X.

I don't own the device so I can't debug anything on my own, but if a few people would be willing to PM me then I'd be happy to make a kernel for it. I just need people to get back to me with logs so I can ensure everything works as it should. I don't think I'll ever actually pick it up due to its cost but I can help the community here to a degree.
No promises of anything but it's a start. I won't be able to do much until this weekend though. Finals are around the corner.

People have ordered the phone today i guess since it was the first day of sale..
Phones will be reaching out after a week almost so i think thereafter we ll be getting people to start playing around with their devices..

The bad thing is that Honor can't force HiSilicon (makers of kirin SoCs) to release documentations of SoCs like Qualcomm do
I have the Indian version of the phone so if some developers can create kernels for testing i would test them..
need more developers for Honor 7X.. hopefully project treble would be of help

Is the Honor 7x an HI6250 Device because if it is, it's entirely possible that my ROMs, which work for EVERY OTHER Hi6250 device (Afaik )might work for the 7x as well.

We're going to get some updates such as gpu turbo and emui 8.1 for the BKL-L09 but we have to wait. September for the turbo and a little more for android upgrade

Next update is for L-09 is fixed for Sept...
The one with turbo gpu ..
They have already confirmed Indian varient will get EIS so its just patience from us that's required

I can understand fully why you would be frustrated. Unfortunately, I don't have info regarding update timelines for various regions. I only have info about the US.
You can maybe reach out on Twitter if you haven't already.

It's newer than the B12/B01 beta ROMs we have now though. B12/B01 are from last year I think... LOL so March is actly pretty great

Seems like ZTE could so with some cross region collaboration with releasing updates. It's a bad practice not to make updates world wide.
I know there may be small differences, especially with modems but still..

I'm sure that patch was left somewhere in the update servers and since they're back online now, people received it.
I'ts not new per se because it's from March, so clearly they didn't release new stuff yet (also don't know if they started to work on the update or not). However, I have my doubts about 8.1... hopefully it's 8.1 and not 8.0., but we will see.

You probably right.
I received an email from ZTE a few days ago that read new Oreo build ready for testing. Has a survey for you to fill out. I contacted the person and was told , build is wrapping up inner testing and will be pushed to beta testers soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The build is the last before final release.

Yeah it is what they says but the fact it is that probably you will need to be a developer to get the beta and to have a Chinese phone so don't assume we will get it straight away like that...
As long as they don't implement swype down to expand notification bar, I'll never use their stock launcher.
Microsoft launcher does it for me lol ?

Android 10 came out september 3. on google pixel first. Waiting 2 months for major update is nothing. Basically Huawei is doing best job with updates. Much better than most of competition.

It locks BL in install process and one can't unlock it again by usual command...
So it's been almost two months since Android 10 release and still almost no sign of a ROM for the Mi 8 Lite. Does anyone have an idea what's so hard about building it? Or is it because of the small community of this phone?

Latest intel the gsi builds work except for one simple but important thing, the camera. No one has been able to make the camera work, they suspect the camera is on a module of his own and hasn't been easy to make it work on 10
