If the friend who made the share had caught this warning. Because no software is installed on the device.

what is the benefit going from A to G, and vice-versa?

The chinese version A has no audio resampling built in by default system wide and also gives acces to hidden nfc chip that is restricted to be used exclusively within meizu pay app - payment system in china, which in turn hasnt been launched yet. Not to mention the lack of ubiquitous google eye
It is actively discussed on russian forum 4pda.ru

is possible you have too old software and update server not recognize or give update for current phone version. you can use Nokia Software Recovery Tool to update to latest official WP8 version: 3051.40000.1349.0025 (this is latest official version of WP8.0 called "Black")... also dont forget to update Nokia system apps after software upgrade (you can use app SysApp Pusher from Store)
after if you want test version of WP8.1 via Preview for Developers, just use links from my previous post
thanks for replying. before i saw your reply i had already used Nokia Software Updater for Retail and i updated my phone's system
to firmware version: 3051.40000.1349.0002 and not 3051.40000.1349.0025 as you mentioned
and the software version is still OS 8.0 not 8.1 or other versions
when i connect to the software updater it tells me that there are no newer versions. it doesn't show the 8.1 version
8.1 not official released. You must activate Preview for Developers to install 8.1. Read my first post, there is link how to make this

thanks for your reply. Is the phone's hardware compatible with android? (jellybean)
also there's freedom.apk for android phones, is there something similar to it that would work with windows phones?
also as you may know there's "black market" for android phones that allows you to download applications for free. is there something like it for windows phones 8.0?

you cant flash android on WP devices or use apk files... is impossible... and why to go switch from horse to donkey
also no way to use black market or any other market on WP. Why you think WP OS is most secure OS without one malware or virus? because no c*ap and bogus app like on android...
if you want app for free watch for promotional period of apps.. in 3 year i collect pay software worth more than $2000... just be patient and many good apps and games can get free or for cheap price...

Hello. I have a similar problem, and as you stated I believe the OS version is so old that the server does not recognize it. So I have tried several of Nokia's apps, Software Updater for Retail, Care Suite and they do recognize the phone, the software and it immediately states there is an update ready. However, when it tries to put the phone in Flash Update mode, the phone does not boot and I get an error saying there was a problem. If I disconnect the phone, press volumen-down and on buttons I can reset it and Works fine, but I am unable to do an update.
Here are the details for the phone:
Lumia 920
Country Variant PR
OS Versión 8.0.10211.204
Firmware revisión number 1232.5957.1308.0002
Radio Software version 1.0.202093.3
Firmware Update Notifier 1.1.0.3
Silent Installer 1.5.0.0
Build ID 153556
Extras+Info App Versión 3.8.1.10
I really don't know what to do. My phone hasn't even received GDR2, much less 3 and for sure it probably won't receive 8.1. Any information on how I can manually place the phone in Flash Update mode so maybe the care suite Works??? I was able, through the care suite to put in in test mode, but not in flash update mode.
Thanks in advance. Posting in the Nokia forums was absolutely no help at all. Could it be that I am doing something wrong with the care suite??? I used instructions from several sites to try to use the care suite.

Hello Anaheiim.
When the software tries to make the Nokia go into Flash Update mode, the phone stays at the NOKIA logo after rebooting. After about a minute, the application on the PC, say for example the Multisoftware Updater cancels out. In the case of Multisoftware updater, the error says : product in UEFI mode did not appear.
I can reset my phone and I get back the normal operations, but it appeas it never goes into a mode that is needed to download the software, or I don't have a driver or something similar to talk to the phone from my PC when it goes into that mode.

Thanks Anaheiim. I am downloading the files in the requisities section of that thread and will follow the steps carefully. On your response you state "you must go into flash mode manually". But I don't see that mentioned in the tutorial, am I missing something??? Is there somewhere I can find how to place a Lumia 920 in flash mode manually???
Thanks again, at least I see a possibility of this working now!!!

Hello again Anaheiim, unfortunatelly it has been no luck with the method you posted. I downloaded all the components fine. I downloaded the firmware I needed. I am able to get to the point when I try to recover the phone. I turn it off, plug the USB cord (already connected to the PC) and press the volumen down-power keys at the same time until I get ONE quick vibration. I then click the retry button on the tool on the PC. It starts trying to update, the phone shows the NOKIA logo mid-screen, most of the time it reboots and it shows it again and then goes directly into the Windows Phone logo and then back in to the start menú. Otherwise it just sits at the Nokia Logo. Either way, the PC App after a few minutes tells me it can't recover. Usually no error. Tried several different USB ports. Sometimes on some ports I get this error: DTL Connection: Could not connect to media. DTL Back-End error code = 0x8400A403. DTL Back-End: Driver initialization failed. DCM status code = 0x84004415, Common USB DCM: No device found from the target USB port, last error code = 0x80070003. .
Exception..
But that's it. Doesn't ever go into Flash Update mode.

[Guide] How to install TWRP & root Lenovo Vibe B A2016A40 (single & dual SIM version)

[Guide] How to install TWRP & root Lenovo Vibe B A2016A40 (single & dual SIM version)
Here's how I rooted my phone. This assumes some previous knowledge of using ADB and TWRP. If you need to, I strongly recommend SIM-unlocking your phone BEFORE you do this - I used this ebay service which cost £1.99 and I received the codes 36 hours later.
Please note that although this worked on my phone, I accept no responsibility if you brick your phone doing this
1. Update your ROM to the latest version, open Settings -> About and tap on Build Number seven times to enable Developer options then check USB debugging & OEM unlocking of the bootloader.
2. Connect your phone to your PC, start ADB and type adb devices - this will bring up a prompt on your phone that you need to respond to. Type adb reboot-bootloader
3. Once in bootloader mode, type fastboot oem unlock. Hit the Volume Up key to confirm.
4. Disconnect the phone from the PC and pull the battery for at least 3 seconds.
5. Download the SuperSU flashable zip https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and copy it to a microSD card and insert it in the phone.
6. Download TWRP recovery to your PC http://www.mediafire.com/file/4hb66m26kfkw9qt/twrp.img and copy it to the same folder as your ADB (I use Minimal ADB & Fastboot https://androidmtk.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-tool ).
7. Start the phone in bootloader mode by holding the Power and Volume Up buttons together until you see white text on the screen. Use the Volume Up button to navigate to Fastboot then select it by pressing Volume Down. Connect the phone to your PC.
8. Type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
9. Disconnect the phone from the PC and pull the battery for at least 3 seconds.
10. Start the phone in Recovery mode by holding the Power and Volume Up buttons together until you see white text on the screen. Use the Volume Up button to navigate to Recovery then select it by pressing Volume Down.
11. You should then see TWRP starting. Tick the box to agree then swipe the blue button to the right.
12. Tap on Wipe then Format Data. Do not miss out this step or TWRP won't be able to mount the /data partition.
13. Tap the Back button then Factory Reset and swipe the blue button to start.
14. Tap the back button then Install then Select Storage -> microsd card then your SuperSU file then swipe the blue button to the right to flash it.
15. Tap on Reboot System and your phone should boot to your newly rooted OS! Don't panic if the first boot takes 5 or 10 minutes. If it gets stuck, pull the battery & try again.
16. Make sure you disable System Updates as they will no longer work with the non-stock recovery. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long until there's an AOSP or LineageOS ROM for this phone
Thank you
This worked like a charm - although I was hesitant knowing there would be no way back, would it?
It *should* be possible to extract the stock recovery from a recent stock firmware - I just haven't found any (my phone came with S219, and was upgraded to S235 prior to rooting). That in theory would open the path to a stock upgrade, if one would like to have it.
Re LineageOS: There's an unofficial build for a codename 'al732row' but I'm in doubt this would match a dual-sim A2016a40. I'll wait for another update or two (three releases within 72 hours, then 2 weeks silence?).
For now I won't complain: this was a bargain even without LinOS - those dirt cheap devices often get stuck with Lollipop.
Another edit: The Nougat LineageOS ROM by CarlosArriagaCM (http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/lineage-os-14-1-vibe-b-al732row-nougat-7-1-rom/) seems to be limited to the LATAM version of the B (aka A2016b30). For A2016a40 (EMEA version) no cigar

Not that I can find. There is one for the a2016b30 but the camera doesn't work.
There's a new (20170614) release. Still there's "E3004: This package is for device: al732row,A2016b30" in the updater-script. Should we invite Carlos to Europe?
(And there should be a ROM thread for this device. Last time I checked there was none.)

New build release on 19.06. 2017. Working on model a2016a40?
Short answer: No, no change between 0614 and 0619.
Long answer: You may check this yourself: Open the ZIP file in your favourite archiver tool, and extract the file META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script, then inspect the first line (assert()) for A2016a40.
Disclaimer: Even if the new ROM would be accepted by an A2016a40 I couldn't test it right away (no access to the device anymore / yet again).

Sorry, im homeless, i don't have 1 dolar to eat something.
I found a comparison of the two sub-models: http://www.phonemore.com/compare/phones/lenovo-vibe-b-a2016b30-vs-lenovo-b-a2016b40/4710928 - most prominent difference is 3G and LTE bands, but I'd presume this would be handled by the modem part of the firmware (which isn't part of LineageOS).
If I could get my hands on FCC documents (although I'm in doubt that a40 and b30 would have separate ones) I'd have a closer look.
Any pointers to stock firmware are welcome (but if that comes in MTK format I'm lost I'm afraid).
If I were @CarlosArriaga I'd check too for the model of phone I know, even with a disclaimer in 96pt.
But: nobody stops you from modifying the updater script to include the other model (and as the OP said, with MTK flash tools recovery from a bad flash would be easy - if you got the stock firmware, that is).
Due to lack of the actual hardware (for yet a few months) I'm limited to speculating and using a magnifying glass on the code itself - if time permits.
Does the ZTE Blade A510 look very similar to the Vibe B? Almost identical characteristics, same CPU type? There are rumours about LineageOS support planned for the Blade.
Answering myself: an A510 scatter file I came across shows more partitions than the Vibe has, so this may be close but not close enough.
ZTE has a device called A2016 though. Coincidence?

Nothing new for our model a40? No chance to develop @Carlos Arriaga a LineageOS build for this model? The developer is very quiet.
Hello,
Sorry my english I use a translator.
TWRP & root Lenovo Vibe B A2016A40, instructions very good.
But there is no unofficial Android 7 for Lenovo Vibe B A2016A40?
For Lenovo Vibe B A2016A30 gives Android 7. I know that.
Unfortunately, my smartphone Lenovo Vibe B A2016A40 does not.
Twrp error reports installation. Error 7.
TWRP (3.1.0-0 at least, I didn't upgrade to 3.1.1) installed properly on the A2016a40. The check for the model in the updater script is what gives you an error (is there a translation table to lookup the value of 7 you got?).
As had been said before, it's possible to change the updater script to skip the check and repackage the zip, but nobody knows yet what will happen to your phone, and whether it can be restored using SP Flash Tool. We all are keen to learn about this...

I did somwthing wrong and now I can't start my phone

I tried to change the Chinese Firmware to Global firmware to (Meizu Pro 7) and now I have a problem.
I followed this guide on this web:
chinahandys .net (I can't copy the link here since I have a new user
and so I deleted the file "boot.img"
I also couldn't open the Update.zip file with Winrar or another archive program.
then, I tried to do this :
"10. In FlashFire, select the small plus icon at the bottom right and select “Flash ZIP or OTA”. Select the “update.zip” file and confirm the pop-up with the tick at the top right"
but I couldn't find the “update.zip” file there.
finally, I tried to open the update.zip by pressing "Update".
since then my phone won't start.
The only thing i can do is pressing the "plus" button and another button below which will lead to me to a screen of Updating the system. when I try to do it's wrong because "firmware not found".
My phone is stock on the screen "flyme".
please help me!! I just bought this phone

Hi,
For 3 month, I hope you have find the solution. If you don't, here is mine :
I had the same problème on my phone.
I couldn't reinstall it, I think the version that I downloaded wasn't compatible with the "Chinese" version of my mobile.
You need to find the good firmware !
Could you try with this chinese firmware : MEIZU PRO7 Standard Version -Flyme6.1.3.2A-7.0
It's worked on my phone.
So,
Press and hold the volume up and power button until the screen goes on recovery mode.
Connect the device to the laptop or PC, you can open the device. You will see an empty partition named recovery.
Now copy the downloaded firmware of your phone and place it in the recovery partition. Just copy update.zip to recovery partition.
Now in the phone select update firmware and clear data and press next.
The phone will reboot and install the firmware.
Wait, wait, wait 15mn be patient.
tell me if it's working on your phone.
excuse me for my poor English !

Hello!
Was everything, such as google playstore and english language, still working on you phone after you updated the firmware?
I was also wondering if theres need to backup the IMEI somewhere?
Im currently running a modified verision of 6.1.3.2A which doesnt have all the features for the 2nd display and hence looking for an upgrade.

Im currently running a modified verision of 6.1.3.2A which doesnt have all the features for the 2nd display and hence looking for an upgrade.

I used this chinese version less than 10mn. I would advise you to install the G firmware !
I didn't install the playstore (too thing in chinese in this firmware) that's why after running the version 6.1.3.2A, i used this tutorial :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75297402&postcount=70
"Download the firmware Flyme 6.1.3.2G from here
http://www.flymeos.com/firmwarelist?modelId=88&type=1
after you can do the instructions in video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDp6oZL4Wx4 "
Be careful when you install superSU to do the same thing as in the video. I don't do the same than on the vidéo that's why i need to reinstall the chinese firmware. After the installation i wait 15mn and my phone stays on Flyme. i restart it and it worked for installing busybox and flashfire.
I wish you bon courage !

Ah ok, so you only used it to be able to flash the global rom on?
Ive read multiple places that its not possible to update from A to G, thats why i was thinking about going to the 7.0.0.0A ROM instead. The shop i bought it from (CECT, who are not very well informed at all) told me it would brick the phone to go to G from A, my phone is apparently not intended for global sale thats why they make their own version and flashes it on...
So now im just looking for someone who can confirm that updating to the A-rom wont remove google play or english.
EDIT: I have the Helio P25 model

Google FRP (factory reset protection) is aimed at making a stolen phone less valuable.
We usually keep our phones locked with a password or pattern but once its stolen it is easy to erase the data (via Hard Reset) and reuse the phone. With Google FRP in place, whenever the phone is formatted using hardware keys it will ask for the last synced google account details before proceeding further.

Until now, everytime some sort of hack comes out to bypass this screen and then its patched with a security update very soon. Same is the case with LG Aristo. There is a working solution as of now but it may not last long. Let’s see how to get this working –
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
How to Bypass LG Aristo Google Account –
This process is lengthy, but it’s a sure shot method and works every time.
We need 2 apps to complete this bypass process. They are Shortcut Master Lite and Sidebar Lite. Download the zip file from below link.
DOWNLOAD
>Extract the zip file and transfer the apk files to a micro sd card. Install the SD card in your LG Aristo before proceeding further.

I will definitely help you just give me one hour but can you post the following info:
Model Number:
Exact Problem:
How that problem occured:
Model Number: SM-G935F / Galaxy S7 edge
Exact Problem : I can't go back to the dock ROM
How that problem occured : Last week, I wanted to try to change my phone a SM-G935F on a custom rom " Minotaurus Oreo V10". I did it successfuly but didn't like it so much so I decided to go back to stock Rom.
I used Odin and a stock ROM for that but I think I made a big mistake by not wiping with TWRP before flashing with Odin.
It resulted that my phone was stocked on the S7 edge logo. Luckly I can go on download mode so it's not hard bricked but Odin failed on every flash I've tried. It stoped at the step "config.msi"
To flash I used this dock Rom : SM-G935F_1_20161201150115_pbdym44h2s_fac

Huawei P10+ Firmware on Huawei P10 - by accident
Hi:
On my P10, I used Firmwarefinder for Huawei to find the firmware (Oreo with EMUI 8) and after verifying, I downloaded and upgraded the P10 to new firmware. After reboot, the dpi is seemed changed (as picture attached) and when I went to check it on about phone, it says Model is VKY (which is Huawei P10+) - picture attached.
Is there a way to rollback and install the correct firmware on this phone somehow?

For being able to make the downgrade operation you will have to use a Windows based computer on which you will then install Odin (an official program developed by Samsung and used on update types of operations).
***********************************************************************************
Download Odin on your computer; afterwards install the program by following on screen prompts.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge USB drivers must be installed on your PC too – use Samsung KIES in that respect.
Download the stock / official Android OS for your S7 Edge – from SamMobile or from Samsung’s official website.
Power off your device and reboot into download mode: press and hold the Power, Volume Down and Home buttons for a few moments; then connect your phone with your computer with the help of the USB cable.
After making sure that Odin has recognized your device (the “added” message must be displayed and the ID:COM field should be turned yellow or blue) from the program select the PA option.
Load the firmware file; don’t select the Re Partition and Auto Reboot options; click on Start when done.
Wait while your SGS7 Edge is being updated; when done, remove the USB cord and reboot your phone.
For further info related to the update process reply to my thread

Help with note 4 recovery

hi
i have a deca-core note 4, but when i tried to update some mui or something via the update menu, it just came up with a blue chinese recovery mode after a reboot, so maybe someone can help me out with what to do next?
and if its deca-core(2.1ghz), then it is mediatek, not snapdragon? (i dont see any model numbers on the box)
i also managed to get into the fastboot mode with the white soviet bunny fixing the robot, but which tool should i use next then?
maybe something from here? - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/guide-redmi-note-4-unlock-bootloader-t3517806
and which tool could i use to check if it's unlocked or not?
and if im already hacking the stuff around, should i already root it somehow then? currently im not even sure what is twrp and all of the other stuff... :s
(and the recovery mode had somekind of big alien head as a logo with some red text below it)
the stock version was also somekind of android 6.0, but can i somehow upgrade it to 7.0 then? (which i actually wanted to achieve via the update menu, but it only downloaded 104MB of mui update... and then crashed...)
thanks

Deca core means it's MediaTek which means your phone will never receive Android 7.
Which ROM are you actually trying to install?
it was just doing its own mui update, but then it did not boot anymore after the reboot and now i dont really know what do i need to do next... i did get it to fastboot mode, but i dont know what i need to do next and which files i need etc... (the main recovery mode seems to be in chinese, but i did notice the fastboot button in it... after the big alien head logo with some red text below it...)
how can i check if its unlocked and which recovery version should i go through then?:s
well, seems like it booted back up after i just switched the phone off overnight....
and now it wants to do another mui v9.5.2.0.mbfmifa stable update, 1,4gb.... so how was it even 104mb before...
(update includes global browser v9.5.6 to fix GDPR and FC(04-13), fix security exception(04-13) and fix reboot always after OTA update(04-13)...)
and the current version seems to be android 6.0 MRA58K (2018-02-05) with MUI global 9.5 Stable, 9.5.1.0(mbfmifa)...
but should i even bother with the update then or just use the phone as is?
(i did not see any OEM unlocking menu either, altho i did enable the developer options...)
well, if i would want to root it, then which procedure should i go through? and is there any rooting procedure for Mediatek chip anyway?

So lets begin.
Your phone is for sure mediatek since its decacore codenamed
NIKEL remember it for future use.
Doing stuff with a mtk device actually harder than a snapdragon(eg. xiaomi redmi note 4 snapdragon) and in my point of view and experience i have had chances of bricking a mtk are more, that doesnt mean that you will brick your device. So if you are ready to take the risk do it. You will be rewarded by being free from thr Miui, having a lot more battery, performance and upgrading to the latest Android 8.1 as well as some great tweaks!( I hate miui lol)
:Basic Info:
P.S.->(MAKE A BACKUP OF EVERYTHING AS YOUR DATA MIGHT BE ERASED IF YOU UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER.)
P.S.2-> (If my explaination is unclear forgive me as its almost 6 months that i erased miui from my phone)
Now for the procedure, go to settings->System->About Phone->Tap Build number 7 times. This will enable developer options.Go again to settings if i recall dev settings are generated before the System. Open Dev settings and scroll a little but, dont touch anything though. Spot a setting that says about OEM unlock, open it. If it says recovery locked its locked, otherwise unlocked.
Now if you want to unlock recovery you should apply for unlock permission here ( http://en.miui.com/unlock). Log in with your mi account read and follow the steps given. You will eventually apply for unlock permission after writing and accepting some stuff. At most you will wait 7 to 14 days till a message containing a code and further steps to unlocking bootloader will be sent to your phone number. You will need a pc for this and downloading miflashtool which you can find going to the page i gave you before. Follow the steps given and pray to god that everything will be fine.

ok thanks, i will probably try this when i have some more time, but the last link seems to be missing.
(and cpu-z also says that its mediatek helio x20, 2.11ghz, mt6797)
