problem with the down speaker - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

I had a bad experience yesterday with my phone. I was with my friends in a club and accidentally a glass of vodka on the front side. From then the down speaker seems not to work! Is there anyone with the same experience? Is there any chance to start working again without sending the phone for service?

Same issue here. It's like I'm getting muted for a second when talking.
Just throwing this out there, and it might not apply at all, but are you sure your fingers aren't covering up the mic when you're on a call? The Note II that I have has a mic vent right near where I normally place my finger and I was muting myself a lot when I first got the device.
My pinky finger was the culprit.
No mic issue here, but you may want to talk it back to T-Mobile and ask for a replacement

Mine too. I'm left handed. I wish they put the mic in the middle.

Not the case, i'll call t-mo this evening.I was wondering if they will be able to replace it at a store ?
I just got off the phone with someone and whenever I put my phone between my shoulder and my cheek to talk they couldn't hear me or complained that it sounded like I was far or maybe looking at my phone. However, when I put the phone back up right as it should be it was fine.
This is weird...
No mic problems here. My gf & I confirmed with my HTC One and her One S.

Same here, mine just doesn't work fine in any position, i called t-mo and the rep told me they can't replace it yet as they don't have the "send a replacement" option on the system, i'll go to a store tomorrow to try some luck if not i'll wait a few days and call again.
I've just had complaints while laying down... hold the phone in the exact same position hand-to-head, but laying down I am told I sound far away, standing I sound normal. I made sure not to cover either mic. I never had any such problems with any phone before.
So are any of you covering the hole in the BACK of the phone?? This is a wonderful noise monitoring sensor that will increase or decrease Mic and call volume depending on what it hears. This is mist likely the case for when it is against your shoulder and cheek. I'd check to make sure you're not covering it up.

No, I was not covering the one on the back.
So i called t-mo and spoke to several reps and they all told me that they don't have the form to send a replacement for this phone yet, i also went to 2 t-mo stores and no luck.I called htc directly and they can't replace the form they can only issue repair tickets which can take 2-3 weeks so no thx, so i just went ahead and unlocked the device and tried several roms and kernels from the international device and no luck, it seems to mic lowers itself when you move the device or something.. so frustrating.

maybe a case would help?
A case may help to lift fingers and other hand parts away from the microphone, as a long-term solution for non-hardware-related problems.
I noticed muffled call quality as well and think it might be a defect. I noticed an issue also when I tried testing out the video quality and recorded a song playing from my stereo system. After recording it, I noticed almost all of the sound was on the left channel, and the right channel was almost non-existent. I uploaded the video to my computer to hear it and noticed the same issue - the left earphone was loud and clear, the right was very quiet.
EDIT: It's definitely an issue with the bottom microphone. When I cover the back speaker, the video's sound is almost gone. When I cover the bottom speaker (right channel), there isn't much of a difference at all.
Have any of you tried making a video recording with audio and also noticed this issue?

[Q] Speakrphone issues [SOLVED]

Everyone says it is very difficult to hear me on the speakerphone and that I sound distant or garbled. Anyone else experiencing issues with using the speakerphone? I have a silver One from launch day on AT&T.
I'm not sure if it is my phone or a common problem. A friend of mine has a black HTC one and his speakerphone sounds fine.
I have no issue when not using the speakerphone.
Thanks
I got the same complaint when new with the phone. I researched and it seems the noise cancelling mic on the back can make this occur when lying on a flat surface (face up, back on surface). I make sure I don't have it lying flat and speak into the mic on the bottom. Usually I hold it. Haven't had any complaints since. YMMV.

Other Possibility
Then there is this thread in the Sprint HTC One forum. Hmmmm.

For some reason, I feel like my old Galaxy Note had better call quality than my One. I never had to repeat and raise my voice as much as I do now. I don't like the microphone placement because my left pinky tends to cover it when I take calls. It would've made more sense if the Mic was in the center since the charging port is more to the side.

My issue was the ZAG Invisible shield on the back of the phone was covering the Noise cancellation mic. Even though it looked like the the little square cut out and removed it was not. Apparently this can caused the problem as well. Hope this helps. You can test this by covering the noise cancellation mic while on speaker phone.

[Q] Any way to 'fix' a cracked camera lens?

I've had my One for awhile and recently the bottom speaker got blown. Its terribly annoying as it crackles nonstop now. I'm still under my 1 year warranty...
But a few months ago, I noticed my lens was cracked. I'm not sure how it happened as I always keep a case on it, but that's beside the point. Is there any method of replacing the lens so I can get my phone replaced? I hope this isn't looked down upon, as I didn't mind the crack before, it does not hurt picture quality. But I can't stand the blown speaker. I normally wouldn't be interested in a warranty as such or 'faking' my way into one. But I can't afford a new phone, and can't stand the speaker.
If anyone has any advice I'm all ears. Thanks for reading, and I do apologize in advance if this is looked down upon. Thanks!

Broken earpiece?

Hi,
my P9000 just arrived today i wanted to try it out. After the update to 20160419 i wanted to make a call but there were no sound. With my headset everything works just fine, but without there is no call possible due to no sound. Is that maybe a software-bug or is the earpiece speaker broken?
I hope i don't have to send it back
Tank you!

Factory reset, if it doesn't help flash stock ROM again and report
Both did not help unfortunately. Any other advice than sending it in? I heard tomrepair.de here in germany is not quite good (8-10 weeks repair time and no change in the problem). Are there any other repair Centers? Can i do it by my own? Whrer can I buy spare parts?

Well, then it's maybe a loose/cold connection. I would open the phone by myself and take a look at it, but i don't want to loose warranty
I just wait, if i can get a new one.

It is soldered to board with wire. Broken my today when trying to removing it Hope they release soon replacement parts like earpiece, camera, screen etc.

It is definitely software related.
In the end I send the phone back to the reseller and got my money back. Because it is nearly impossible to send a smartphone from Germany to China, i was allowed to remove the battery for the shipping. Now I'm a happy Honor 5x user.
I think the battery is still working (unless i damaged it by removing it, it is really good glued), so if anyone is in need for it, i could sell it.
For anyone that might be still interested and ends up here... I just repaired the (previously broken) earpiece of my Elephone P9000. It is not too difficult to do yourself, but you definitely need patience, precision, a steady hand, good eyes and some tools. Here is wat I did. By the way, I first tried a factory reset, which did not help me. But you never know...
I ordered a replacement earpiece via AliExpress. This cost me less than €8, and the part arrived within 12 days. Not bad.
I watched a P9000 repair video on YouTube to prevent making big mistakes/damage by opening the phone. I my case, the flatcable to the power and volume buttons was glued to the back of the phone, so I used this part as a hinge to open the back like a door.
I unscrewed the plastic cover that covers the motherboard (5 screws). It still has a couple of hooks, but with some prying it will come loose. Caution as the flatcable to the fingerprint sensor is attached to the board, so use this (again) as a hinge and flip the cover over from top to bottom.
There is flatcable that partially covers the earpice (at the top middle, soldere with two mini-leads, black & red). I could easily fold this a bit back. Wit a small screwdriver, I pried out the earpiece. Then with a fine soldering iron, I unsoldered the two leads. Remember where the red lead should be attached (bottom for me).
Solder in the new earpiece and put everything back together again.
Drop me a line if you have questions, I'll gladly help to fix your Elephone earpiece if it's broken.
