in the images I can see that not even 1 min and already consumed 2% battery, I do not want to imagine when you have whatsapp, twitter, ....
Do you have some configurations to maintain good performance? disable fast dormancy, use a specific theme, some compatible kernel?
On the other hand I like the slim projects I would like to keep it more active than its later version Slim6

I did not make changes to the kernel. The settings are the same as those used in LineageOS.
While on fast consumption, the device was being charged by USB and when I do this, when disconnecting, the percentage of the load goes away fast. The charge lasted normally after a normal charge

I forgot to warn: SamsungDoze has not been implemented in this build, however this is not affecting the battery drain. If there are problems, I'll enable it in the next build. Sorry.

Hi...

Magisk does not work for S II (and will never according to the author of Magisk).
I would try LOS-su-addon (works for me, but I'm running RR) or another version of supersu (all to be flashed via TWRP).

Thank you, for the new Slim7 @linusdan
A question, How do I get root?
Regards.

Try to enable root with SuperSU. addonSU of the Lineage not work with this ROM
If it does not work, comment so that I can fix and deploy it in the next build.

Guys, I used the weekend to try to enable root mode with superSU in the builds, but I did not succeed. Since I will not have time to investigate why (another year of studies to win the ENEM and the SISU), I will try as soon as I have time, but no promises.
The monthly compilations will be waiting for you
For those who do not know what the ENEM is: it is like the SAT exam, and the SISU is the students' competition x the number of vacancies to enter the university.

It will be a stupid question but I have to ask, is this rom supports Vulkan or it is a driver issue that can't helped?

FAQ :
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes, this is Android 6.0.1
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code. Oct-M is based on CyanogenMod 13.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ and all the others have..
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
Basic Instructions :
1. Download ROM .zip file and GApps.
2. Reboot to Recovery
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
3. Wipe system, cache, dalvik, and data.
4. Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files.
5. Reboot.
Enjoy!

Installation steps:
- You MUST unlock your device's bootloader in order to install Slim; I won't cover this area, however you can look it up here in the forums or ask me anything about it.
- Install the latest TWRP (again, won't cover this, but there are tons of guides and I'll try and help aswell.)
- Download the latest build, gapps (I usually go for nano, haven't tried other builds) and your preferred root choice, should you want to root (I've been using Magisk and it seems to work just fine). Place them all in the storage or sdcard.
- Reboot into recovery mode
- Wipe --> Advanced wipe --> data, cache, dalvik, and system. This is a clean flash, therefore you will lose your apps and their data; (sd and storage are not mandatory to wipe, so anything in there's going to be fine if you don't do it) remember to back those things up if you want to keep 'em.
- Install the build, the gapps and the root zip if you're going to root.
- Done! Reboot and enjoy. Remember the first boot always takes a few minutes. If anything goes wrong, don't panic! Worst case scenario, you soft-bricked your phone, and that can be easily fixed. Just come to the forums and ask!
If you're coming from a previous Slim version: You're probably all right without the /data wipe; if a clean flash is absolutely needed, I'll say so when I upload the build. Keep in mind, dirty flashes are still dirty and this is still a beta stable, but still, bugs may surface.

Great rom! Have been using this rom for about 2 months now. Great battery life and very fluid.
Nice work!
I did try it... Found it very smooth... Shifted back to viper since i could not customise much.... Majorly inspite of xposed gravitybox i could not move the status bar clock to centre... Anyone who's using has a way out?

As soon as the problem occurs, take a logcat!
What is a LogCat?
A "LogCat" is for debugging applications / Android system. When applications / Android crash the output the "explanation" for the crash, the Exception Stacktrace, to a Log. This log can be saved and help developers to fix the crash.
What is it supposed to do?
It will help to solve your questions, if your asked for a LogCat it is always useful.
How can I get a LogCat?
Prerequisites:
Code:
Linux, Windows or Mac
USB cable for your device
Android Device
Instructions:
Code:
Install your device driver for using adb. Everything you need will you find here
Download adb executable for your OS (Download: Windows | Linux | Mac). Paste it somewhere.
Connect your android device.
Verify if "Settings > Developer options > USB debugging" is checked, if not, simply check it.
Open a command prompt (windows) or terminal (linux / mac). How to do it: On Windows: windows + r > enter "cmd" (without quotes) > click enter | On Linux: You don't know how to open a terminal? LOL | On Mac: Type Terminal into Spotlight and open it
CD to the directory where the adb executable is located. On Windows: Go to the directory where you downloaded the adb executable, Shift+Right Click and select "Open Console" (or similar) | On Linux / Mac: Rightclick in the directory and select "Open Terminal here" (or simply CD into the directory)
Type in your cmd/terminal: adb devices to verify your device is properly connected.
If your device is properly selected, type in adb logcat to show the mighty and magic logcat aka stacktrace.
Reproduce your error (or whatever) on your device.
Right after, paste the whole cmd / terminal window into a paste-service like [url]http://pastebin.com/[/url] and send it to us.

Thank you very much for supporting the old SII in both updating the old and new versions together with the security patches, I have a doubt I have been testing many of the ROMS AOSP and CM in order to find some daily use also adding tweaks and kernels you have Any recommendations you have used? I do not want to stay in Sammy roms
the reason why I do not like nougat because there is no support in the kernel modified and I am playing a lot with the BLN, fast charge, different governors and ZRAM

Try DU MM v10.6 or Carbon ROM Nougat (it has 'ondemand' power management by default). I do not play much (actually only 2048), but they can meet your needs. Remember that CarbonROM is rootless and I think it has no way to enable it.
Cannot install gapps it says insufficient space error.
I flashed lachon kernel then lanchon twrp recovery by arnab then updated to latest twrp 3 and then repartitioned with lanchon repit and then wiped everything except internal external storage and then flashed DOT is and gapps

Are you using the pit configuration of 1.5gb system + 6gb data + 512mb preload or something like this? If you do not have or if it is your first installation of a custom rom, you will need it.
Now if it is not, search for error 70 by javix and problem solved!

I was flashing ARM 7.1 pico
Solved it !! Did a clean install.
I dont know what caused the error previously but last time when I was flashing, i wiped cache/dalvik after flashing the rom.
This time I did not wiped, installed the gapps immediately after the rom and it went smoothly.

I used lanchon repit tool to increase system size.
I dont know if wiping can cause any error or not. The error appeared when I wiped cache/dalvik after flashing the rom and then tried flashing gapps.
Repeated everything except the wiping before gapps inatallation error did not show up.
Any battery optimization in this rom? What is the battery timing with general GSM Calls/SMS usage? Any benchmark with WIFI? Appreciate your response. Thanks

Hi timematcher!
When I compile a ROM that it does not have for another device, I usually make the necessary modifications to compile and work well, and they are minimal (include classes, device trees etc). I do not make drastic changes since I'm a beginner in the backend world and in the android development world. Think it has some optimization done by the dotOS team.
Benchmark WiFi? Nope! But you can test on the speedtest website.
While the time of the battery, it is the same thing as Lineage (I do not know the time exact). For general use, between 4h / 4h20. Games: I not tested, because I'm not much fan. In standby mode the battery lasted 4 days. Remember that this can differ because it depends on the life util of battery.

Thanks for the detailed response. I was really looking to understand how long the battery lasts
on standby,
on an regular Call/SMS use and
on constant WIFI connectivity.
I was not asking for browsing or downloading speed on the phone but thanks for answering that as well.
I have i9100 on which I am using LOS 14.x microG. I am always looking forward to a light weight yet effective ROM that i can use as a daily driver.
Thanks for the good work. cheers.
New build is UP!

Thank you for such a small and clean ROM! But, it's laggy. I can't move around interface without some lag. Especially ripple effect on touch. I hope you'll make ROM more resposnive without so much lag

XOS is a new generation Android-based cutting-edge OS based on the Android Open Source Project and Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from the
Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Code Aurora Forum (CAF),
with extremely minor set of components from LineageOS (LaOS or LN) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the AOSP and CAF, the LineageOS Project and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,
then join us on Telegram: http://telegram.me/halogenos
Visit our website for features such as: Downloads, Information etc.
http://halogenos.org
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another ROM:
Code:
* Please take a full [I]Nandroid[/I] backup!
* Please copy your back up to an external device.
* Back up your [I]Internal Storage[/I]
* When completed, [I]clean flash[/I] the build (format using fastboot --wipe-and-use-fbe)
Although you usually may dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM is built upon the same Android version, it is not guaranteed.
In case of performance issues or crashes please do a clean flash.
Overall as a ROM, XOS is very stable. Our mission statement has always been of maintaining a clean and properly maintained ROM.
We take proper priority with ensuring that performance and stability are put first, features are considered an extra topping on the cake.

Code:
* Download the current version of XOS for your device.
* Reboot into a compatible Android Recovery solution. (Note: We recommend [URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-8-0-8-1-t3729673"]TWRP[/URL], use always the recommended version from first post)
* Wipe [B]Wipe '/system' & '/cache', FORMAT /data preferably using fastboot --wipe-and-use-fbe (You will lose all your data incl. internal storage).[/B].
[I](For `Dirty Flash`, do not wipe anything)[/I]
* Select the appropriate ROM zip and flash the current ROM build.
* Want Google Apps? Obtain and flash the latest GApps from [url]http://opengapps.org/[/url]
* Flash any other system modifications you may want
* Reboot.
Manually updating the ROM
XOS ships with an OTA updater built-in (soon) which should automate the downloading and flashing process,
however should your wish be to manually update the ROM, you should be our guest.
Code:
* Download the current version of XOS for your device.
* Reboot into a compatible Android Recovery solution. (Note: We recommend TWRP)
* [b]Please do not[/b] wipe anything, including Cache/Dalvik/ART, the ROM has you covered.
* Select the appropriate ROM zip and flash the current ROM build.
* Reflash any system modifications that do not survive updated (everything that is not addon.d-capable)
* Reboot.
You do not need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You do not need to flash Google Apps again*.
You do not need more than 5 minutes.
* Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
Screenshots
Currently right now, halogenOS will only include the stock Android theme.
We may one day decide to use a custom theme as soon as that theme is working perfectly fine.

Try rebooting once and wait 5 minutes for app optimization to settle down.

Might be a bad download. In fact, i find it more smooth than any other 8.1 rom. The stock launcher is so dam smooth, i might just refrain from flashing a custom launcher.

Seems to be a Gapps issue, since latest build went perfectly through setup wizard without hiccups. You can try to use these gapps too if GZR gapps dont work https://download.dirtyunicorns.com/gapps/arm64/EzioGappsMini-arm64-8.x.x-official-April2018.zip
Fingerprint gestures are in System > Gestures , for now there is only swipe down for notifications
Well well well, look who's here with XOS.
Great to see you here buddy ?

Not sure if this is a feature but the WiFi is turned off on each reboot. I have to manually turn it ON every time.

This is indeed a feature, although coming straight from Google. It's a security feature introduced in Android 8.1. Which means you will have to enable it on every reboot.

What did you do?
I formatted everything and then installed.
It installed and booted fine.
Then I copied stuff from a backup - when asked to do so during setup.
Then it spontaneusly rebooted .. and hung during the subsequent boot
I then Powercycled it, it booted and it's been solid ever since.

Hey @hk1271 is there any way to get google assistant v2 on our beloved 6p ?
SMS is spotty, as is GPS.
ETA: Probably hardware related. Phone retired.
Scored 131000 on Antutu benchmark.
