i know they use for picture improvment, but still both of them are taking a picture and then it used for processing. i want to have an access for the two picture raw files to do my manipulation of the picture

[Q] 3D Picture Resolution Improvement?

is there anyway to make it so that it stitches two 5mp pictures instead of two 2 megapixel pictures?
maybe in a rom?
just so that we can take 3d photos, but also have the 2d form where its actually nice to look at instead of a 2mp 2d picture.
just a thought.
Its two five mp cameras, not two 2 mps. Just checked it out in engadget and wirefly

yes i know, but when you take 3d pictures, its two 2mp pictures that are stitched together. you can notice it when you view a 3d picture in 2d.
Yeah
It really should be an option

yes, there might be a way. assuming this is a software limitation and not a hardware limitation.
to determine if its possible in the software, have to decompile and sort thru the closed source htc camera apk file. that is probably the only/best way to figure out the logic and coding htc uses.
is it possible? wouldn't know until we see the code.
see to be quite a few requests surrounding the camera on this device. perhaps it would be worth tweeting or mentioning on htc's facebook page as these types of requests seem popular. maybe they could release these added options in an OTA. would be even better if they just release the source code and we could compile/modify ourselves. in the mean time, next best option, decompile/modify the existing htc camera .apk!
hope that helps!
i am really interested in this too, could any of you smart people try to decompile ? i would done it myself if i only known anything about android but i don't.
so i hope someone could look into it !

I've been looking into the camera in the past few days. Take a look at my camera compression thread. I have a hypothesis as to why the resolution in 1920x1080 for each of the two images in 3D mode. Follow me here. In 2D mode @5MP (widescreen) the resolution is 2560 x 1440. This means that the 3D pictures are reduced by exactly 25% in each dimension. My hypothesis is that they use this extra 25% to post process (focus) the 3D image. If you think about it, the further away the focal point, the more the two images overlap. Likewise, the closer the focal point, the less the images overlap. They need to reserve this 25% in all cases because of the auto focus. It's kind of like how you go cross-eyed when focusing on something right in front of your nose.
EDIT: See my attachment for a visual representation of the wasted area
EDIT: Also see my chopped pictures. I took two pictures. The first in 2D and the second in 3D (converted back to 2D). I had the camera in the exact same spot for both pictures. You can see that the left part of the picture is chopped off in the 3Dto2D picture, but the detail is the same. It's like the image is just cropped.

shooting uncompressed pictures with SGS II , possible ?

Hi ,.
is there any MOD or hack for SGS II camera , enables us to shoot uncompressed pictures , (for better quality),.
THX
use any custom camera app like camera360 and set the quality level to 100%, stock camera app does compress the image @ 90%

I saw a post on here (CM9 discussion thread maybe ? Not 100% certain) bout 3-4 months ago saying someone was working on giving the SGS2 the ability to shoot pictures in RAW. Haven't seen anything further since, and I'm not sure it was in that CM9 thread.

That would be amazing. I was wondering if it was possible to get RAW images from the SGS2 camera. Can't afford a DSLR
That's the thing tho, is it even possible ? Yeah, it would be pretty good. Wonder if that would iron out the various 'artifacts' you sometimes see in images taken with the SGS2 ? (like the red/pink blotch, poor quality in low light, etc, etc). May not even be possible with the hardware no matter what's done with the firmware.

To improve photos quality

Hi to all,
I would like to know if there are same way to improve camera quality. I can see my photos often are blurry.. a little bit...Although I use the focus with the touch.
Is there any setting, or build.prop modding to improve? Or any other apps...
Thanks a lot
Post a photo for us to see? Try Vignette app on a still subject then post here.

With my previous HTC desire HD pictures quality was very very better than this...
I don't see anything wrong with this picture.
What you can do is try a modded camera.apk that has 100 compression on JPGs instead of 95, or just use a thirdparty app like Procapture.

I can't see any macro settings... But low quality is for jpg compression... I like to have 100%...
There is a crop (100% zoom... 30cm away from phone). Poor jpg quality!!!

Macro focus is for closeup shots. Given how far the bottle is away from the phone, it wouldn't be suitable for that particular photo.

Your photo is good... but if you see my crop, is very very poor! I can see too much jpg artifacts
1st. Find out if its Macro or Not. Try Autofocus if its not on.
2nd. Did you buy it as a new phone, or is it 2nd hand? In 2nd hand case it could be that the phone was opened previously for a repair or something, and the lens or the lens cover got dirty.
can someone extract your own camera.apk and share with me? could be my app corrupt...
I've ICS stock LP7

IMHO the picture quality is very good in this phone its a matter of how well you can play with your settings in there! One suggestion would be that don't take the pictures with auto flash! but if you still looking for other options then I think you should look to the third party app like "Camera Zoom FX" and its on sale at the moment as well!
here is the link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom&hl=en
It has more options plus excellent other settings and added frames etc as well, which you may find useful if you're a picture enthusiastic!

Camera fx is better app that I found... much better than stock camera.
Then compare yourself my crop ... the first with stock camera, the second with camera fx app. There is just no comparison!
Thanks a lot friends

Camera quality lower on custom roms?

Is this true that on S3, the quality of photos is lower on custom/CM-based roms, than on stock rom?
Are there other elements that don't work / work worse on non-stock roms on S3?
Custom roms is not the correct term. Touchwiz based custom roms, camera is identical
Aosp based custom roms, not so great. Works ok....

What do you mean by "not so great"? Less camera app options or lesser picture quality?
As many or more options. Since samsung didn't share their camera HAL source, aosp camera not quite as good quality as touchwiz camera. Its fine for me though

Is this any better in i9505 with regards to camera HAL? I know it is Snapdragon CPU so in that department it is much better, but what about camera on AOSP?
The camera hal has been back engineered just recently and has been made open source by Paul K. which should have improved the quality of pictures on CyanogenMod 10.2
There still could be bugs but now the team has code that they can work on.

And is there any way to use a TouchWiz apk on CM and use those extra options? I would imagine it is just an app, unless it is a part of the whole UI and impossible to port.

The Touchwiz camera is an app that requires parts of the TouchWiz Framework. Maybe someone could port it to CM but I suppose it would be pretty difficult.
I use the Snap Camera App. It has HDR and other great settings and works like a charm.

HDR with this app work as taking several separate photos (which takes several seconds), or shooting just once (and phone doing all the shots it needs at once) like with TW?

As far as I know it takes 2 photos and then adds them together but it works pretty good as you can see in my second picture I posted a couple of posts ago.

Yes I understand, and I can do HDR shots with my old Desire, too. But the app takes 5-6 separate shots in total, and you have to hold the phone still for about 10 seconds. And on top of that, the moving objects will be all screwed up because of that.
Do you actually see two picture being taken, or does it look like just one from the UI point of view?

Yes you can see that the App takes 2 pictures but it does not take 10 seconds to take a HDR picture. It takes about 2-3 seconds with Snap.
None of the alternatives can replace the touchwiz hdr function. I use camera 360 which has a "hdr effect" mode which is ok but as mentioned, waiting for a 2nd or 3rd photo is a problem

I wonder how the Samsung App is doing it technically? I mean for HDR you need at least 2 pictures with different exposure levels. How can the App do an HDR shot with only one picture?

I suppose it takes several photos, but you just see it as one being taken.
I wonder what is the difference in HDR photographs of moving objects using TW and third-party programs.
I believe the TW camera takes 2 or 3 pictures within a split second of each other. It could also just take 1 picture and post-process the image differently 3 times. After all, pretty much all digital camera effects are post processed.

Question Raw 50mp pictures?

Hi!
I'm interested in the Zenfone 9 and I would like to know if the phone can take raw 50mp pictures?
If that's the case, would it be possible that one of you to post one or two raw 50mp outside pictures (city or nature landscape preferably) as samples to play with? I haven't managed to find raw samples on internet.
Thanks!
No unfortunately not with the stock camera app for now. It's a bit strange they didn't implement it from the get go. I'm sure they will update the app at some stage. Either that, or a Gcam solution will surely fix it.

It's possible by go to pro mode then go to setting and select raw + jpeg capture. The icon with raw and 50 MP will appear in viewfinder. It's kinda hidden and easy to miss

Found it. Omg what the heck? The main settings actually changes when you are in pro mode when entering. Atleast it is there. But I'm mindblown by that stupid choice. Why not add it as an extra option on settings‍
Thanks for the info!
It's a shame that it's a bit hidden but at least the option is here for people who like to do more advance photography!
If one of you could take one or two raw pics to share, that would be awesome for me and others who want to check raw picture quality on this phone
Will do!

Ingen idé att försöka vara diskret . Yeah, even an iphone 4 can take decent pictures when the lightning conditions are good, tbh I don't see myself using the 50mp mode that much in the future but rather stick to G-Cam.
