Can anybody tell me how to change the screen driver in a custom ROM?
AOSP v1.7/ AOSP v1.8/ Nexus 5 by Warezz37 screw with my phone's screen, so I was wondering if I could replace the screen driver with the one in the stock ROM. (I haven't met anybody else with the same problem that I have and I had my screen replaced once after I broke it. Also these ROMs give the same problem, and only these ROMs give that problem. Official ROMs, MIUI, etc. work just fine. So I'm assuming the problem is with the driver)

The same problem occurs with Alice Project ROMs also. I've noticed the problem occurs mainly in the home screen but also occasionally in other screens. Also, it always occurs when the screen updates. Said problem never occurs while screensaver is running.
Here's the problem in detail (Although it'd be really helpful if I could post a video) :
The first time I boot, the bottom half inch of the screen appears at the top and everything else is pushed down. Also the screen flickers like crazy in all sorts of colors. However after 1st time screen lock, this problem disappears. Instead, the screen just plain blacks out frequently. During this, touch works normally (even when the screen is blacked out). Sreenshots show normal pics instead of the faulty flickering colored screen (it is this that lead me to believe the problem was with the driver).
If this question belongs in a different forum, can somebody point me in the right direction?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Forgive me, I'm new to this.. Doesn't flashing a new ROM change the kernel? If not, how do I change the kernel?
Where can I find compatible kernels for my phone? (I use a Lenovo P780 4 GB model)

I have tried every single ROM out there for p780, bro... I get the same problem with all AOSPish kitkat ROMs. All official ROMs work fine. Even all AOSP jellybean ROMs work fine. Only the ROMs I've listed above give me the problem (AOSP 1.7, AOSP 1.8, Nexus 5 by Warezz, all Alice Project ROMs). I've detailed the problem in the question, if that helps.

From what you described here seem to me that only chinese roms are the problem ! Stay on one official ROM !

I noticed that too.. Unfortunately, I really hate the stock Lenovo ROMs and I prefer pure android. If there's some way to get it working I'd really like to know.

Thanks bro!! The problem is, it isn't just the launcher that I don't like. I just hate the entire feel of the stock ROM. I'm using SLXROM for now, but it is Android 4.2.1, so I wanted to upgrade.

just to let you know i guess its problem with 2D stuff??? i was running antutu benchmark test using Alice ROM and during 2D testing i could only see vertical white strip on the screen... but 3D test went well.. maybe someone will find solution to this

Dude, I have exactly the same problem with yours. All these happened when using CN based kitkat ROM (along with the ROM as mentioned above). This resulted in me to stay on ROW based kitkat ROM. But the main problem in ROW kitkat ROM is that my pebble smartwatch not able to be connected or paired with the phone. Anybody faces the problem to pair up with a pebble in ROW kitkat ROM?
Anyway, just realized Alice Project v.8.1 Reborn already out. Hope the screen problem would not be there. :fingers-crossed:

Installation for Alice 8.1 is the same as usual. Download from alicerom.ru. Flash on top of CN base. Infact, you can find instructions on their website.

Hey guys , after installing ANY custom rom (tried CM14, Nitrogen, and others), I cant hear and others cant hear me , I've searched the whole forum and nobody seems to be having this issue, any help??Everything else working fine..
Also, I can't reflash stock rom, because it bootloops :/ any help would be appreciated

Install miui latest dev. With fastboot method

had the same problem....even miui dev rom (fastboot) didnt fix it...gave it to the center and they fixed it by flashing MIUI Global Stable (5.1.1).
If it isnt fixed by flashing miui dev rom..try flashing global stable (5.1.1)
Try to edit build.prop.
ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=fluence
to
ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=none
In the past I had similar issue.
Or try to flash the latest N firmware zip.
Seems like your firmware files are missing.. flash any EDL rom once.. after then flash the other roms n stuffs.

Did you find a solution? Because I'm facing the same problem..
I tried to flash the latest dev rom through fastboot but nothing changed.. Seems like the phone recognize the headphone always plugged in

Changing this properties has not fixed the mic problem. have restarted as well
can you point to latest firmware. I'm on 7.1.2 Nitrogen OS for RN3

I use lineage os and I tried this code but nothing happens
I face this weird bug in newer Oreo ROMs where sometimes after rebooting the phone and when I enter my password on the lockscreen, the screen goes black and returns to the lockscreen. I faced this on latest Nos,ABC,arrow ROM, mokee ROM etc. If I want to enter into the phone then I have to remove the password from recovery. Anyone facing this issue

no, I was on gsi rom for a while,then came back to dotos kenzo , faced that bug

if there would be an easier fix then why have written this tough fix?
only way to fix this issue is too follow full procedure
if u dont believe on it whether try yourself because 3 friends tried and they also solved it by this method

Always first flash twrp official in fastboot when u come from miui. Dont flash any other recovery.
And format data using only with twrp official. Other twrp have problems decrypting miui encrypted data.
Coz It throw error when u use format data command to decrypt miui using redwolf and fox recovery.
And if u used treble twrp and cardinal treble and any other treble rom then wipe cust, vendor before u flash non treble rom.

Hello I'm having problem with my device , I have sound issue in which I can't seem to fix even reflashing MIUI 9. So the story goes like this, I'm running Pixel Experience 8.1 and flashed AGNi Kernel 13.0 on it , I did backed up the stock kernel and after trying it out for months I decided to restore it back to the stock one and the issue happens , I tried flashing the stable MIUI 9 on it through MiFlash but it didn't fix the problem:crying: , any help there guys? thank you in advance!

Have u open ur phone back cover and did any dismantling or repair?

There's a sound when I plug the earphone , I'm pretty sure that AGNi kernel is the problem here

May be u have jack stuck issue like me.
Phone always stays in earphone mode by default.
I m using Aex pie with audio jack fixed kernel.
If u need quick fix now then install Lesser Audio switch from playstore. U can forcefully put phone in speaker mode using this app.

Is that audio kernel came with the AEX's stock kernel? Or did you flashed it manually? (Separate zip)

Nice , thank you for this, I saw this option on AGNi Kernel before , maybe because I accidentally checked on it when I was flashing causing me alot of problem now that I flashed RR Pie , thank you for this!
I need a newer rom for my RN2 currently on stock which is rooted etc... I would like at least android 6 but prefer 7..I need to update due to several of the main apps I use staying they are no longer supporting adroid 5 and below. But at this time don't see the need to buy a new phone when the rn2 is in perfect condition.
So am looking for a rom that is fully wprking with good battery life.. So what can folks recommend??
Please provide a link to what you are using and a note about which recovery you are using..

Xposed on this rom works, i don't use Gapps, i use MicroG. I think this rom does not contain Gapps. If the rom doesn't contain Gapps, just download and install. Personally, I recommend MicroG, it uses less battery, but you need to be able to fix it, there are problems.

Camera works, I recommend google camera app or One Plus Camera. You can download these applications from apkmirror.com.

Ok so I flashed your recommended rom almost everythng works fine... BUT no matter what audio player I try NOTHING will play audio files. Stock one will not either... Sound is working fine for everything else such as video players and games etc.. Yet will not play audio files and gives the error ! sorry this play does not support this type of file"...
Have load NEW mp3 files on to internal and external storage and still same error...
WTF is wrong??? any ideas folks?
So am now on a rom that can't play mp3s and gives the error mentioned above.... Wahooo!!!!!!!!!! great.... back to stock then as no one seems to have any ideas about fixing it.

I used this rom and didn't have this problem. You may need to grant read and write permissions for external storage. Soon I will flash this rom and configure it according to my needs, if I encounter any problems I will describe them and solve them. I used Dolby Atmos and Viper FX on this rom, I had no problem playing mp3 files.

where do I get viper and atmos???? Read write is granted was the first thing I checked... BUt the issue happens regardless even on INTERNAL storage.

MP3 issue still continues as to modem well that completely slowed down and killed my phones signal so I reflashed and that sorted it.

Can't get root to work... Tried everything I would have done on ANY OTHER ROM and device.
Worked fine on the crdoid.

All roms with android 7.1.2 have many bugs. That's why I use roms with android 5.1.1.

You can try ViperOs 3.1.1 or LOS 14.1.
