How Dev friendly is Huawei? - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

I like the new Huawei Mediapad M5 8.4" with WiFi as a replacement to my Nexus 7 2013. How Developer friendly are Huawei products?
Do you think that there will there be TWRP and root support on the Mediapad?

Looking forward to replacing my Nexus 7 (2012) with the MediaPad M5 and I would like to use it as a development device, too. As far as I know you need to register as a developer to get an unlock key for the bootloader. Can anybody confirm this?

Xiaomi Mi 5 - Windows 10 ROM

Dear All,
We need to support this new thread to have "Windows 10" ROM in our Mi 5/Mi 5 Pro devices, so if anyone know any new news or if someone know how to port the ROM then update this thread directly.
Thanks and I appreciate all your efforts.
What a way to work around the eta rule mate.

Microsoft is said to be developing new ROMs that will allow Xiaomi Mi 5 adopters and those with a new OnePlus smartphone to swap Android for Windows 10 Mobile. The firmware would allow potential consumers to try out Microsoft’s latest platform without buying a new device.
Microsoft did a similar thing last year when it released a Windows 10 Mobile ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 4. Clearly, that experiment went well, so the company is looking to do the same for the new Xiaomi Mi 5 announced this week, the OnePlus 2, and the upcoming OnePlus 3.
Would be a good thing for the smartphone, more freedom of choice
Dear All,
Thanks for your comments. You know, I am thinking if there is a way to have "Dual Boot" or even "Triplex Boot" because it's suitable for 64/128 versions. We hope to see something new soon.
Thanks.
I have a Xiaomi Mi 4 with Windows 10, I'm waiting now for the version for mi5
Waiting with open arms as I just recently purchased a mi5

You know that putting M$ just makes your posts seem daft even though the information is correct. Why not call them by their real name?

As long as it doesn't break forum rules, it's my right to call them whatever I want.

Oh I know it is, just letting you know that it puts across a childish attitude, but maybe that's a correct view.
Any news on development?
im waiting too. there is no interesting native windows phone currently on sale, hp elite x 3 and lumai 950xl are too big for me, 950 has old cpu and looks ugly, mi5 is my onl hope, but i see no progress since announcement
I've read microsoft is dismantling mobile os sector, no more phones, i don't know if it's a rumor or not, but if it's true, no more developing in this case, for old or new devices like mi5...

Huawei Mediapad T2 10.0 pro custom ROM/Support in any way?

So I just got this tablet as a cheap add on to my phone contract with EE in the UK. I've searched the internet and the XDA forums and can't find a specific place where any developers working on ROMs in the same way I have had with all of my Samsung phones in the past.
Is there any hope for something like linage 14.1 or just a stock 6.0 or 7.0 ROM for this tablet with TWRP?
I can see that it has a Snapdragon 615. Is there something about this that's hard to develop for or is it just that not many people have the tablet?
Any respone would be helpful. Thanks!
I join in here. Same situation for me.

I come here as a ZTE Axon 7 brother, a little brother for that matter. Please Read

Hello, we are drvsbsm and she is Sarah we are visitors of the Axon 7 Mini Community we have endured endless setbacks for many months trying to at least get our Axon 7 Mini’s rooted, we would love to have what you have been able to do but ZTE will not help us, they say they are thinking about letting us unlock our bootloaders, but we cannot trust them as they have been saying this for months and that is why I have come here with a question from our forum members to ask for anyone with experience to help us with the Axon 7 Mini we would be very grateful. We don’t believe ZTE because they won’t even give us any help in our discoveries. We would enjoy just to have root access and if our Bootloader could become unlockable we could finally feel like our device is finally ours. We have put in many months of work at the forums and we wish it would have meant something more, we do not have the developers with the experience that you have with the Axon 7. I don't usually do this as you can see by my post count and my thanks for helping others I usually help other people when they are in need, but this time we as your XDA Brothers are in need. The only ZTE device that ZTE has let us unlock the bootloader was the Axon 7, if we can’t get them to continue to let us unlock future ZTE devices we most likely won’t get to again, hopefully we can convince them now that they are better off with an open community, they can ask OnePlus about that. Ask yourself why would they not let us unlock the bootloader on the Axon 7 Mini, I can’t figure that out especially when they let you unlock the Axon 7. The Axon 7 Mini is an incredible device that has a lot of untapped potential.
Very few people know about this but over a year ago I owned the Original “ZTE Axon Pro” they also then had another device called the “ZTE Axon” it was their non-pro version and they would not let us root or unlock that device either it was basically the same as the Axon 7 and the Axon 7 Mini but they would not help the regular or the pro version. That phone was $400 and the regular Axon was $300 the “ZTE Axon Pro” was their flagship device last year I had one for 6 months, it had a Snapdragon 810 in it and the battery life was terrible. So, I sold it for $180.
I’m pretty sure that ZTE won’t help us Axon 7 Mini users to unlock or root our devices. So, we at the Axon 7 Mini forums are asking for your help maybe with your developers and experience you will be the one who unlocks the code we have been trying so hard to do. I came here because I thought that we were the XDA community and our Developers could do whatever we wanted if we stuck together and tried hard enough.
Hopefully you will help us in anyway that you can. I heard there was a ZTE forum, I will visit there next maybe someone could spread the word for us Axon 7 mini friends, I would appreciate it a lot. thank you. If anyone can do this they would be a hero in our minds, if not the Axon 7 Mini will have a very short life cycle and ZTE are not at all innocent. I will continue to do what I can, I may visit this ZTE forum to speak on our behalf, I won’t even say the word ZTE anymore its AXON 7 and Axon 7 Mini to me from now on, but I'm also in the middle of learning to root and rom my Oneplus 3T, but I will not give up on the Axon 7 Mini just yet, even though it has been 6 months of no forward progress.
We need the Axon 7 Developers if they think they are up for the challenge if they could at least get our devices rooted, or would that be too hard for them also? Please Ask the Axon Developers in this Forum to please help in the spirit that XDA-Developers has become such a special place for everyone who has a problem with their phones to help and to get help.
Find us here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7-mini Please come anyone is invited hopefully a really good developer will find his way over to us and our forums, that would be great could you imagine what they could do with our phone they would be the king of our community if they got it rooted and the bootloader unlocked. I admit they would have to be pretty good of a developer because we had our own few good developers looking at the Axon 7 Mini for months and they didn’t come up with anything maybe we should not think that anyone can do this.
Here are the specs to our Axon-7-Mini if anyone here are familiar I’m going to show them.
The Specs of The - ZTE Axon 7 Mini
The ZTE Axon 7 Mini was announced in September 2016. It is an entry level version of ZTE's 2016 flagship Axon 7. It features a 5.2" 1080p AMOLED display, Qualcomm Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 chipset, 3GB RAM and 32GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. The rear camera has a 16MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and phase detection autofocus, while the front has an 8MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture. The ZTE Axon 7 Mini is powered by a 2705mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0, and comes with a USB Type-C port.
It is basically the same as your phone but of course it is a Mini version it is really nice but it is missing one very important thing, Root Privileges and an Unlocked Bootloader. Developers of these forums if you wish for a challenge and you are not busy and you think you can possibly do the job please have a try at it whenever you are ready. Do you think it is that they don’t have the phone to work on we would have to get a very well respected developer a phone to work on but I think we could do that? Please Axon 7 forum members Please come see us. https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7-mini

Can LTE band 71 be added to the Mate 10 after rooting and playing with the radio?

I came across a One Plus forum here for adding additional LTE bands to the One Plus One. Can the same be done to a rooted Mate 10 so that it can support LTE Band 71? The Mate 10 checks all major boxes for me except the wide angle camera and Band 71 support.
If not, I hope One Plus reads this post and makes the One Plus Six come with a front fingerprint sensor (a must for me), wide angle camera on the front and back (highly desirable), headphone jack (non-negotiable), 4000+ mAh battery (a must), 18:9 OLED display, IP 68 dust and water, and fantastic audio.
If anyone knows of a phone that meets most of these criteria, please let me know.
Good luck finding root for Mate 10

Are you talking about the Mate 10? And if so are we talking about boot loader unlock-able root, backdoor Kirin kernel exploit? Any even further so what version of the device, just the Mate 10, or both Mate 10 and 10 Pro and last but not least, any proof?
I ask because this is the device I have my eyes on but without root I doubt I will get it. Root is very important to me.

The Mate 10 or P10? The Mate 10 Pro is the device I have my eyes on. Which version from Huawei is normally boot loader unlock-able? International, Europe or other?
Any chance you guys can point us in the right direction?... id like to unlock and root my mate 10 already...

Unlocking mate 10 is fast and easy, @DarkestSpawn
Go to huawei site for unlock code,
Unlock using fastboot (fastboot oem unlock) - use windows 7, win 10 can't detect mate 10 fastboot
Root using funkyhuawei tool
Here's some screenshot for proof
For the tools, go to reddit, search for funkyhuawei, they post the tool link overthere
It still beta, so i dont want to go over them to post it here.

Buying a Honor 9 today

Since Huawei is stopping unlocking bootloaders very soon will I have problems with the unlock? How fast can I get the code once I send them the IMEI? Overall, is buying the Honor 9 a good idea in this moment if I want to use custom ROMs in the future(treble support)? How long do you think Huawei will keep updating EMUI on Honor 9?
