[Sony] Xperia Open Devices Project - Sony Xperia XZ1 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Othe

Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.

What about software binaries for Z Ultra? will Z1 do the job?
@jerpelea
Can you please share a bit more details about the precompiled kernel for other devices there at SonyXperiaDev's git is made from which sources?
So that by then we can compile a kernel.
I'll have a look tonight and see if there is anything I can try
I'm trying to build aosp 5 using z1 binaries from the sony dev site at the moment

Many thanks jerpelea.
A device-sony-togari repository is referenced in the readme for the rhine common device tree, but It's not yet public. Can we expect this, along with togari specific binaries any time soon?

Yeah, that would draw some extra attention. Maybe a mod can add it?
you can use honami blobs but kernel and dts have to be recompiled from unified kernel source
kernel is same unified kernel and has all configs for togari

CyanogenMod 14

Can someone build a CyanogenMod 14 rom for z2 or Port one of CyanogenMod 14 Roms from other Sony phones ? Thanks in advance
Even AOSP N for Z2 is not stable at the moment and so the stability and possibility for CM14 will be greatly questionable.

No offence but what I think is that if we move on to CM14 without fixing the known bugs and there will be a mix of CM bugs and AOSP bugs, which, from my point of view, will be even more harder to debug.

There isn't even a cm 13 yet..
Anything beyond CM12.1 / AOSP 5.1 is anything but stable. But there's an official Android 6.x ROM out from Sony, but that doesn't help us much, as there's missing source code, like always, with every manufacturer.

I'm still in shock why Sony hasn't released the source code for z2, and I'm on official Android 6.0.1 & Google camera doesn't work for me, does this mean sony isn't releasing the source code because he doesn't have the source code

No, definitely not. SONY cannot release the N source code for Z2 is not due to his company's plan, it is due to hardware limitation. In Z2, we don't have OpenGS EL 3.1 that supports Vulkan but Google GPL license demand all devices that can have official OEM support on Android N to have Vulkan compatibility, that's why we cannot have any official source code on N despite the fact that Z2 can actually run N without any problems.

Yes I know but I was talking about Android marshmallow, last time I checked there was no hardware limitation for marshmallow, yes I know for Android N there are some hardware limitations but for Android M there's no hardware limitation and Sony hasn't released the source code for it. There must have something mistaken. The SONY AOSP team can never work on making Cyanogenmod. Moreover GPL rules restricted SONY from releasing Android N officially to Z2.

LineageOS is made by volunteer maintainers & developers & nobody including them can predict how long it will take to fix bugs & technical difficulties of making a modern Oreo firmware for a 2012 S3 phone made to support Samsung's Android 4.0.4 and with the last Samsung officially supported 4.3.
Check LineageOS Oreo Device Support Requirements "This document enumerates the requirements that must be met in order for devices to be deemed ship ready for LineageOS releases, beginning with Android Oreo" to get an idea of how big that task is.
