WhiteStone Dome for the S9 is even better than the S8! - Samsung Galaxy S9 Accessories

Hi guys!
Decided to take the plunge yet again and purchase a WhiteStone S9 screen protector seeing how I loved the S8 one so much (and because I seem to have no sense with my money).
So I went and preordered it from mobile fun and followed this YouTube video to install it and I think it came out great!
https://youtu.be/glOPokc6PeY
Just wanted to share this with you guys and see how you're finding yours. Are you guys getting WhiteStone Dome or have you found something better for the S9?

Sounds like a mucher cheaper way of doing virtually the same thing. Will the loca glue need curing in the same way as the Whitestone do you reckon?
Love to hear how you get on anyway :good:

Already installed my Whitestone as well. Had it for the S8+, Note 8, and now S9+. It seems every version, they improve the process. The Note 8 and S9+ both utilize the tipping over method. However, my Note 8 did not have a sticker to cover the speaker, or the pads on the side to clean up excess glue. The sticker for the speaker was nice, but I didn't bother with the liner pads on the side. As before, great product from Whitestone.

Hello,
I just installed the Whitestone Dome Glass on my S9 + and I’m happy.
Since the S7 edge I had to stop its protection in tempered glass because it did not stick and luck luck I broke my phone screen, I look everywhere on the internet and I saw the one that is expensive its real … 45 € (for me: France) except that 45 € on a phone has 959 € … I think it can do it, all his past and it fits perfectly sends really heavy!
To see in the long term ..

Thank you!
Just put it on last night, and your video install helped a ton! So far I am loving it, perfect install, perfect glass

wow, i must be getting old and out of the loop for many years, has been many years since i used a screen protector.
watching that video, the process is cool for sure, wow. never seen such a thing. lol
thanks for sharing, might have to put it on my want list.

I don't know how true my reservations are, but I do have some regarding screen protectors using LOCA. When you remove the screen protector, the glass will come off easily (in most cases anyways) but the adhesive stays behind. The adhesive isn't something you can easily remove without some sort of solvent or manually scraping it. That's my only reservation on these kinds of screen protectors -- should I mess up the installation, or the glass cracks and requires removal -- the adhesive isn't going to come off easily.

mine came off perfectly clean on my S9 plus, i broke the whitestone and had to replace it. literally no residue left on phone, all loca stayed on tempered glass. big problem i see with whitestone is the warranty replacement process, they require old to be sent back before a replacement under warranty. for the price they need to allow you to request warranty and get new one on the way asap. the loca tempered glass seems to be the best option imho

I love how it looks like you don't even have a protector on until you look at the top by the earpiece! Super clean.

Yes it's very clean on the install and yeah you only really see it on the top. Looking right at it you don't notice it but if you tilt the phone a little you'll notice it on the top.
My install went great on two phones. Even screwed up the second one doing it and cleaned it all up and did it again... flawless.
My only concern is the bottom of the protector seems to sit a little low on the phone could of moved up slightly or shortened the glass just by a fraction to give a little more space between the glass and cases.

Hi Anyone,
Installation is both time consuming, easy, and difficult. Approx. time 15 minutes. It's easy to install. The challenge was getting the table balance & removing every piece dust possible. Other then that, it's worth the $45. The price is the thing I hate about it.

How does the phone feel with the protector on? Does it become noticeable thicker?

hi.
any problems with dust in the corners over time??

It feels slightly thicker. Nothing bad. Could be slightly wider and taller, bezel gap bothers me. But that allows different case styles. I use Clear View case, so it makes the whole package pretty fat already.
Little glue marks at the edges with dust. But nothing bothering. Also, after installing the glass, there seems to be a crack from bottom center, towards on/off button. Don't know if i screwed something up or it is production failure.

mine cracked somehow, never dropped it. waiting to hear from their support, having to mail them the broken one before they send me a replacement is really ****ty service imo

Yeah that does suck. Though it's a good fit and stays put on the screen which is the main reason I went with them. Maybe I'm due time the will be more competitors that work with these types of screens with proper adhesion.

G1 Screen Protectors

There's plenty of time to have them handy for the arrival of your G1 -- they're not listed as being 'included' at the T-Mobile product page: http://www.boxwave.com/accessories/t-mo ... s_3283.htm
Anyone thats on ebay check out this link I've got some on the way from this seller will check back and let you know if any good. 3 screen protectors for 10.50 after shipping.
http://stores.ebay.com/ScreenPatronus
I have used Zagg (previously ShieldZone) screen protectors for a few years now, and i love them! Once applied they are on for as long as you want, and last forever. They do not scratch at all. Not sure how they will work with a touch-screen but I dont see it causing any issues.
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/t-mobile-g1-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
I still have the original plastic on the screen that came with the device.
So glad that unlike other tmo phones it wasnt printed over with the #646# stuff.
For now, it'll work, bubbles and all.

Me too, and the bubbles flattened out overnight, so I forgot this morning whether I had removed that plastic protector or not. I ordered the Zagg invisible shield for my PSP to test it out, see if I like it. My two big concerns are if it will be too grippy (with a touchscreen I feel like my hand should slide more) and that it might distort the screen. I've had some cheap screen protectors and they totally draw attention to themselves, I have one on my psp right now that makes it look like the screen is oily or something.
BestSkinsEver is a good deal too:
http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/the-115/T-dsh-Mobile-G1-Skin/Detail
Worked well when I had it on my iphone.
I got the Invisible Shield from Zagg... it is a pain to put on... and I see small imperfections but they say it should go away after a few days. It came in many pieces. So I left the back one off as I don't see the point in protecting the pop off compartment.
Will tell you more later.

If you all decide to get the Zagg's, there is a banner (for me at least) on the top of the page... support your forums by clicking on it and purchasing that way. I am including the link here: http://pagead2.googlesyndication.co...ields.php&client=ca-pub-9796028472014192&nm=3
(not sure how the linking is set up so hope that works... perhaps a mod can clarify things.)

i'm using the original one it seems to work fine with no bubbles
I got the Zagg protector, like punkzanyj said, it's too grippy and there are imperfections that I don't think will go away.
I just ordered a different brand, I wouldn't recommend the Zagg product.
For those who don't want to go with InvisibleShield because it's full body or it requires a wet application, i'd recommend an Exim product. All their protectors are silicone static-cling rather than adhesive based, and the quality of the anti-scratch coating is pretty good. I've used the Exim protectors on three devices in the past (with no cases) and never had to replace them.
Webpage is here, but you can find the products easily with a search on eBay.
I couldn't put up with the bubbles so i bought a kit out the t-mobile shop which i had to cut to size...works nicely...
But now as i was going through the box found it comes with a free protector!!!
It's clear and might be hidden in the instruction book or something...remember it's see through so it's hard to find!! But trust me it's there...i've not used it though so dunno what the quality is like.
SPOC or SPUC?
Screen Cover separate than body or not?
I have noticed that several of the screen/body protectors for the G1 have either a screen protector as PART of the front body cover and some do not. I do feel a bit of a drop in elevation between the screen and the case around it does this make a difference? will the whole front cover style allow for a smoother transition from screen to edge? will the separate screen and body style have a catch at the connecting point?

Brando protector review
FYI, I ordered the anti-glare screen protector from Brando. It seems to be adhesive (not static), but is removable and re-applyable (and washable, which I've even verified).
It took a couple of attempts to get it on cleanly (it's easier when it's wet), but now that it's on it looks and works fine. Image quality is comparable with other anti-glare protectors I've seen. I got the anti-glare version mainly because I wanted a textured surface so my finger would move more smoothly across the screen, and it does make the screen a lot smoother to the touch.
It's not the cheapest one I've seen ($9, 1 per pack), but Brando has free shipping, so it does balance out a bit. (I also bought it at the same time as their 3-in-1 ExtUSB Headphone Adapter, which I do highly recommend)
PhantomSkinz Screen/Body Protector Review
I am not affiliated with PhantomSkinz in anyway, other than being a very satisfied customer.
I recently bought a T-Mobile G1 and started researching screen/body protection for it before receiving it. After reading many reviews and checking out other vendors of these products, I decided to go with PhantomSkinz after seeing pictures of a BlackBerry Storm they did.
They are located in Gilbert, AZ, so I was able to make an appointment and have it installed (for FREE!). If you are not local, you will get two sets of skins in case you damage one or mess up the install.
After 24 hours of drying, it looked absolutely perfect. There is absolutely no "orange peel" effect that people seem to get with vendors that use other films. The body coverage was suprisingly good, virtually every surface is covered (including media card door, USB port cover, etc.). I didn't expect individual pieces of film for the buttons, covers, etc.!
The only thing that bothers me a bit is that when the screen has large sections of light colors, you can barely see some lines in the film. I assume this is from the manufacturing process. At all other times, you cannot even tell the film has been applied.

Screen protectors Which one is best from these? (Which is like Hori)
Hey all, I know for handhelds, Hori screen protectors were the best, 100% no doubt. (Tho now you have to import em lol)
So which one would be like that for the G1? (Where it goes on super clean, easy and is high grade as Hori would be)
I saw:
Zagg

Definately this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458998. Mine arrived just before Christmas. Niiiice.

The Zaggs are nothing like Hori. They have a somewhat textured surface and also require liquid to apply. I think the closest to Horis (that have precut sizes for G1) are EXIMs. You can find their products resold on ebay.

AT&T Tilt 2 Clear Hard Case

I purchased this. got really excited as its the only case that att offers for the phone that is a snap on hard case incase of accidents. it also has a screen protecter which i was weary of from the start. when i got it. It actually fits perfect compare to the only one they had for The Fuze. Which scratched my phone and wore quickly. but it did its job for 3 months.
But the Tilt 2 one i dont think i like due to the screen protector. It sticks to the screen making bubble like look. and it has a black border on the face which takes away from the Chrome accents. i even took off my screen protector just incase it was conflicting with the case. and it still did the same thing. stuck to the screen or made bubble like appearences when the screen was turned off. i think they messed up with this desighn, and i may be taking it back because it cost me 29.99 plus tax.
System
That was my experience too. I took it off and put on a Boxwave screen cover. Also, the screen cover was just loose enough to trap fine particles under the cover.
I took mine off because:
1) It was extremely difficult to tap the taskbar to bring up the Task Manager
2) The scrollbar at the bottom of the display became next to impossible to use
Basically, the edges of the screen required large amounts of pressure before the phone would register a touch with the case on.

+1 I got rid of the case very quick.
I still use this case but only the bottom half the top part pretty "rinkiydink" i removed the screen protector part and just tried using the top piece but it doesn't stay on the device i would suggest buying one from amazon.com i have a black snap on case on the way i payed 8 bucks for!!! the case-mate has a year warranty so if it cracks or whatever at&t will swap it out for you that is one advantage i guess.

yeah i even took off the plastic top... but it scratched the fake Rhodium around because of debris that got in there. ooo i was erked. so i figured you know what. i might as well enjoy my phone... but if i drop it... crap! i better figure something out.
Let me know how that case from Amazon works out. if you got a link id appreciate it. thanks.
i just got this case.. its nice!
heres the fix to the bubbling look problem..
get a anti-glare screen protector under it.
i have this setup on my ipod touch (casemate + antiglare) and it works perfectly, no werid smudges. i have an invisible shield right now + this case mate and im debating switching to an anti glare to get the nasty sticky look off... we'll see. anyway, i dont have a solution for the buttons being harder to press xD
I got this case right after I dropped the Tilt2 the first time.
Now 3 months later the case comes apart in my purse.
Sucks
Now Im looking for a Clear case that has a screen like this one not just cover the edges.
the Bubble thing got on my nerves,
Tilt2 Case-mate clear plastic case bubbles
Hello and thanks for all of you posting on this...
I will return mine and be satisfied with the one I already have on it. Saw these Case-mate covers at the AT&T store for half off so I thought I'd try one and was generally pleased except for the bubbles... bad design. And I thought of doing all the things that others have tried (posted here above) and so I will just get my money back. I guess all the vendors are making good cases for the iphone...
I can't really find a really nice case for this phone. The one I did find I had to make modifications to it like use a file to provide better access to the on/off button on top and the volume controls... I did find one from otter box on ebay that looks interesting...
Thanks again to all who posted and made my decision to return this product easy.
CASEMATE
The only thing positive I can say about the CaseMate that AT&T sells is that when the screen protector delaminates from the clear plastic frame it is glued into AT&T will replace the whole thing, back and front, for 1 year after initial purchase, other than that it is crap. Keep some cynoacrylate (super glue) around for when it does pop off, but when you compare the $29 they want against so many other products in this price range it just doesn't hold up. Hell it doesn't even have a clip.
In the same vein is the Body Glove but it is far superior and less money. It doesn't try to protect your screen so you will still need a screen protector, but it has a clip that acts as a stand.

A friend of mine was at a mall and going past a kiosk and they had a bunch of hard snap on cases for the touchpro 2... she had asked me if I wanted one but I didnt really. I guess they were only around 20 dollars. I saw the ones at ATT months and months ago and they looked like garbage. The one she got was pretty nice though... no crappy piece of plastic that covers the screen!
so if you are in the market for a cheaper one and dont want to wait for one to ship from ebay or whatever just go to your mall.
The case mate one that ATT sells is horrid! I have it on my phone right now and it's been scratching up the chrome and gouging it! As well my back cover has scratches from where debris has come in! I'm going to return this hunk of junk and get myself something better, any recommendations besides the bodyglove?

Screen protector?

Are you guys using a screen protector on this phone? It seems that one may be unnecessary with the gorilla glass 3 we have on this thing. I'm still debating whether to get one or not.

yeah im using the one that came with my spigen neo-hybrid but its a fake and its already bubbling. Im thinking of getting a glas t slim glass protector because its so clean and slim. If you plan on selling the phone later on then you should.
Using an SGP crystal. Even gorilla glass 3 can scratch if it meets something like sand. I may go with a glass protector eventually.
I'm using the iLoome Screenmate glass protector and love it. Only thing is it does not have rounded edges like some do. I would recommend iLoome or MIME for tempered glass protectors. The MIME has rounded edges and you can use coupon code "bbq" for an additional 11% off plus free shipping through Monday for memorial weekend. I used both on my iPhone 5 and both companies have excellent customer service.
I got Tech Armor for just under $6 for 3. It's very nice and clear although I don't know about durability.

I'm still using the one that came on the phone. Lol. I couldn't decide what protector I wanted to go with, or if I'll even use one, so I figured I'd leave this one on until I decide. I will say this might be the best install I've had on a phone. NO DUST OR AIR BUBBLES.
I did cut off the tab at the top. I slid a credit card underneath the tab and cut the section level with a razor to make look nice.
Yeah I was bummed when I removed the OEM screen plastic from my nex4 cause that same day I put my keys in my pocket with my phone for all of ten minutes. Still have the little marks it made.
I bought a screen cover after that and ripped it off a few days later cause my diztronic phone case was messing up its edges that went all the way to the rounded glasses ends.
Had I kept the original it would still be perfect I bet. Still good though just saying I learned that the OEM is fine for a long time.

It's a good idea to use one anyway. I had someone at the Verizon store apply mine for me.
Steinheil oleophobic on mine. Can't even tell it is there and feels just like glass. Keeps fingerprints minimal too.

I almost left the default on my replacement, I never saw such a decently placed factory protector in my life. In the end though I decided to give my SGP a try and do it in the bathroom after I got out of the shower. Using the hinge method, this is the first time I've never gotten a speck of dust on the screen and placed it 99% perfectly. Can't get much better than this:

The only flaw I see is around the front facing camera, it could have been moved to the right a micrometer. Actually, looking at the home button cutout, I think that's more of a cutting issue on SGP's side because that looks perfect vertically and horizontally.

Looks great to me. I normally get the SGP Ultra Crystal for my devices, but I was thinking about trying the GLAS this time around. Since the original protector is clear and doesn't have lines or writing on it, it has given me some more time to make my decision. Which version of the SGP are you using?

That's what I'm using, the SGP Ultra. Got it for 50% off when I bought the case from them. First experience with them, but both case and screen protector are very nice.
I started using screen protectors on the note 2 and this phone after all the phones I own. Because I don't notice a difference in quality or feel. And find it much easier to clean. and the slightest hair line scratch will drive me crazy. I'm not awesome at putting them on. So when I get devices. I make the salesmen put it on. And if it's not mint they try again and again till its perfect or I don't want it and won't pay for it haha.

Suggestions for Glass Screen protector

So I ordered the ones from XtremeGuard Spartan Tempered Glass
http://www.xtremeguard.com/LG-G3-Screen-Protectors-p/lg-g3-screen-protector.htm#.U8CjKOXD-3g
And used the discount code and got them for 6.00 a piece. Havent got them yet but people are reporting that they are aligned horribly and requesting refunds.
So now I need another brand. I've always used spigen for my regular screen protectors. Never tired a glass one.. But there's plenty of brands out there..
Anyone make any recommendations based on the g3 or previous phones models that they used an glass protector on?

I am using the one in your first link.
The Spigen GLAS.tR NANO SLIM , a bit pricy but I've used them on my last couple phones and love them.
I think Spigen glass products is so pricy, but, it's worth it I think!
I just ordered the Spigen. I went with it because it was so thin with rounded corners, it completely covers the top, and because I could get it with prime (I want to slap it on before I touch the new screen to ensure no smudges). Most don't seem to cover the top and that leaves an area for a crack to start, and probably doesn't look as nice.
I had planned on ordering the second link one which seemed better while cheaper, but it's not available now.
I stopped using screen protectors on my last 2 phones (Nexus 4 and Nexus 5). However, my Nexus 5's screen developed a couple of pretty nasty scratches over the past month or two. In an effort to not subject my G3 to the same fate, I did some research and went with the recommended Spigen GLAS.tR NANO SLIM Tempered Glass protector. It was definitely pricey but had excellent reviews and I was hoping to keep the feel of the stock screen, which these glass protectors supposedly mimic.
My phone finally arrived today so I immediately installed the Spigen protector before I even turned the phone on. It was significantly easier than what I remember from standard screen protectors and came out absolutely flawlessly. I was never able to accomplish this with regular screen protectors so I was very happy that the ease of install lived up to the hype. Overall the screen protector feels like the bare screen and you'd never know it was there, especially once the TPU case was installed.
While it is pricey, I imagine it will last quite a while, so it's worth it to me. I'd definitely recommend it.
**Ignore the thing that looks like a bubble near the bottom left of the screen, it was a piece of dust that wiped right off.

I goth this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JV93WC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Fits very nice and is thin, but it seems to pick up stubborn smudges rather easily. This is the first glass screen protector I bought so I don't know what to expect.
I just ordered this.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I went with some glass from eBay, it was a doodle to fit and cost £8. Infinitely better than the screen protector that came from spigen (not glass), that seemed to smudge and was took hard to fit (bubbles)
Go with #3. Its the best for the money hands down. Trust me, you will not be disappointed and probably buy an extra after you get it.
Beware.. if you buy any of them with a big cut out rather than a separate cut out for the camera and speaker you will get a lot of dust collecting there. At least my nillkin one does anyway, apart from that its great.
Got the Spigen, seems be be the thinnest at .23mm
Thinking about upgrading to a glass screen protector. Has anyone had problems with trapping a rogue dust/fibre whilst applying? With traditional PET screen protectors its ok to lift up and get a bit of sticky tape to remove the dust/fibre that was trapped.
Thanks!
Wow that glass is fancy. I've never had issues with my usual clear stick on $5 3-packs from any brand out there on Amazon. I just change them out after 6mo to a year for a fresh look.
Actually, I'm big fan of Spigen......So I bought the case and glass screen protector for my G3.
I didn't apply the screen protector on my phone yet because I didn't get my phone.
But. I'll upload new updated comment after applying that.
I can't wait for my G3.
I got the SGP Nano glass and it works great. Just don't be a dumbass like me and try to wipe the sticky side when you mess up.
Does the spigen cover the front camera? If so does it obscure it at all?

Yes. The only cut out is the speaker. Everything else is covered. It is crystal clear and I have seen no difference in before and after pics using it. Hell, if I didn't put it on I'd be hard pressed to tell it's there. 100% satisfied.

Totally agree! I have literally just put mine on. I mis-aligned the first time and had trouble trying to pry it off again, but luckily I got it off and re-applied no problem!

I went with the skinomi: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2PDY6O/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's $15 with Prime and has a lifetime warranty: The purchase of any Skinomi product including TechSkin and DesignSkin includes a lifetime replacement guarantee. Yes, you read it right! We are confident that Skinomi products are the toughest and the only film protector you'll ever need. If ever a properly installed TechSkin is scratched, torn, or damaged, we'll replace it free of charge.
The last glass one I purchased for my X ended up breaking from my keys and I had to replace it so I figure the warranty might come in handy. Not many reviews but they were both positive. Arrives Saturday and I I'll try to come back here and update with my thoughts.

Accessories Good glass protection for screen

I'm in the USA and waiting for the phone to ship to me. I need tempered or glass protection for the screen. I keep looking on amazon but all I see are reviews with switched products. any one recommends one that's not shady?

can confirm, works great
Im using the whitestone dome glass and works perfect me, I know some people do have issue with the FPS not being reliable, but I have no issues with the FPS and works perfectly fine for me.
It looks very similar to the one I have and also works great. IMBZBK.

FPS? Frames per second? How a glass on top of device screen affects FPS!!??
Yo! so I have been using my s23u naked for the last 2 months and now I think i should get a glass protector to protect the screen since this will be expensive if I drop it... I am looking for something good and worth the price, some mentioned whitestone but that is 50 USD in sweden.. any other good options you are satisfied with that costs less? I do not want to use any case since that makes this sleek device fat and ugly (no body shaming pls!) but i guess the glass protectors are cool that can save the display from one or two drops..

Not sure if you're trolling or are genuinely confused.
But just in case it's a genuine query, he means FingePrintScanner.

Ive tried a few and they are all **** or average in comparison with other brand that gives you a WELL placed protector from factory.
Ive email samsung about this BS ''save the planet so no protector nor charger '' ****, and we have to order , get ship by plane/truck , stuff, and found this is ****, and re-re-re-order.
Anyway, I got the Mowei UV glued protector, and the stikyness power is good as masking tape. If you get the phone in your pockets and the corner of the glass touch the pants, and will unstick.
Oh you think with a case it will be fine? no, cases are often soft, so they will contact the glass and unstick it.
It will create huge bubble. However, You can stick back the glass with minimal bubble left.
Protector are not only for protector the glass , but also the oleophobic coating. I use to have my phone naked, but after few years, the glass is full time greasy because it come a finger print magnet since the coating is gone.
10 days after receiving it, waiting on my Amazon protector shipment, was sitting and dropped my phone from my lap to hardwood floor .
Back top left corner had many small cracks running into the lenses

Sad story bro. I always order a Spigen case as soon as I order the phone. Cheap insurance to tide me over until the case of choice becomes available.
I used this one here and so far it's been a good experience. You get the whitestone dome quality w/o the messiness. And I'm rocking it with the Ringke Onyx Case with no lift.

Which one?
Two things I'd wish they'd do:
Stop with the curved screens. Tits on a bull!
Second, ditch the behind the screen FP reader. Put it in the power switch. Anyone that's owned a flip/fold knows how well they work.
Then we could have FLAT tempered glass screen protectors that stay put and look great for a long time.
Mous is nice, wish the carbon fiber one was in stock!
I use this when I want that naked experience and still have protection similar to a skin:

I have the same one on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and the phone fell off a chair onto a slate floor backside down and I thought for sure it was going to be a bad day. Nope, phone unscathed. Thought the case was OK too but later when I took it off it had a crack running all around the area covering the camera bump.
I got the UAG Pathfinder for the S23 Ultra, yeah it's on the bulky side but I probably could drop it down the stairs and it would be fine. ;-) That's what I use when working outside.

Its better to use a Screen Protector Film because the device has a curved screen. I really dont know if there are any good Tempered Glass for curved screen so I went with a Full-Body Screen Protector from Gadgetshieldz since they not only have Matte options but their Full-Body covers the back panel, sides, top, bottom and also the camera module. I didnt want any scratches at all so I covered my phone completely with this. Went with the Clear for the Screen and the rest were all Matte cause I love the finish.
Although, recently I wrapped my S23 Ultra with skins cause I was getting bored of the look but I still have the Clear Screen Protector on.
Im in love with the grip they provide, feels soo good on touch!
