Has anyone Successfully Unlocked Bootloader of their Indian Redmi Note 5 ? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Just wanted to know if anyone has unlocked the bootloader of their Redmi Note 5.
I tried everything like flashing Global Developer as well as China Developer, but whenever I try to bind my account, Error 86006 pops up.
Tried all VPN's, even on China dev, but no success.
If anyone has any solution, please post it down below!

Indonesian here,
We have the same problem buddy... Well it already answered by xiaomi Indonesia that there will be no more unlocking bootloader on Indonesian phone.
Hopefully Indian users still can unlock bootloader.

Yup same problem i can bind device still getting 86006 error even in developer rom btw my model name MEI7

same error
i am facing same 86006 error

Any solutions to this problem?

You guys just gotta wait for Xiaomi to push an update for Global Beta or Stable ROM to fix this 86006 error for our MEI7. This model being the recent launch, it's gonna take some time. So just sit back and relax. It'll eventually get fixed soon.

I don't think they (Mi Indonesia) said "no more ubl". They're just trying hard for us to not make us unlock our bootloaders so they get less work, typical PR stuff. I mean our devices isn't even tied by carriers (like some phone in US that can't be unlocked if the mentioned phone is sold through carriers instead of the manufacturer themselves).
But yeah hearing our Indian buddies get the same binding problem kinda make me convinced that this is indeed a bug. Well, MIUI 9.5 is coming, so let's hope the bug got resolved there. Cheers.

I don't think this is bug but its intended... Xiaomi restrict ubl on certain type or certain market.
2 days ago, suddenly the restriction was lifted. All Indonesian device except redmi 5+ can bind account without error.
but we still need to wait for 360 hours before we can Unlock the bootloader.

Oh yeah i meant it was for sure intended but i don't think it's "impossible" to unlock it, or so i hope.
Oh, really? All devices for our market (assuming you're Indonesian as well) except Redmi 5+? Let me test that. Less than a week ago i was trying to unlock a friend's Redmi 4X to no avail, getting the 86203 error when trying to bind the device. The solutions are quite varied too, from flashing ROMs to using VPN when binding, he didn't want to flash ROMs. I can contact him immediately. May i know what conditions are required for you to successfully unlock a device that isn't Redmi 5+ for our market? It could be very helpful for others too.

I don't get any 86006 error on Redmi Note 5 (India). Got unlocking permission also but I can't bind account as it says Can't connect to network. Is that strange? I have strong internet connection.

Just remove your Mi account and add it back. You will also get the error.

Will Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro have more ROMs?

Hello guys, i currently own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime, and so far i love it!
But i have had some problem with it (battery life, no HDR etc) since there is not a "Stable" rom for it...
I've read that it's "harder" (if we can say that) to create a stable ROM if it's a MediaTek Processor, is that true?
And since Redmi Note 3 Pro will have Snapdragon 650, will it be easier to create stable ROMs for it?
If you ask why i don't use MIUI 7, well i really want to use MIUI 7 for my Redmi note 2 but it doesn't have my native language and therefore i use a custom ROM instead.
answer is yes but

SD chipset officially supports cyanogenmod so answer is yes,but there is catch... xiaomi locks bootloader so for unlock it will take you up to 15 days .... xiaomi must give you permission to do that .... so better to know that before you do anything .... must be some global rom for redmi note 2 prime miui 7.1.... i'm not sure witch language you want ....

That's the first time I ever heard that android device needs permission to unlock something.
But how come i didn't need any permission to install a custom ROM in my redmi note 2 prime?
I just found a ROM and installed it and it worked great! (Well almost)
The language i want to use I Swedish, but it isn't available in MIUI 7

Sorry for a late reply, but damn Xiaomi is becoming more and more like Apple with their updates to prevent hackers to jailbreak the phone...
This is is taken from the link and I quote: "but also to fill in the details, including your “reason to unlock” description — yes, you must explain to them why you want to unlock the bootloader, so it really is an application process."
My ONLY reason is that they don't have my language in their ROM.... If they refuse to accept that I won't buy that phone...
But one question though... My CM 12 in my redmi note 2 isn't that stable, but since the redmi note 3 have a snapdragon chip, will that make is more stable than a Mediatek chip when someone make a CM12 ROM for the redmi note 3???
hmmm

i understand that... but reason is : I bought note 3 and i wanna do whatever i want with that.... isnt it? it was not free for me....
look rm note 3 have mtk chipset and have cm 12.1 for it and have ressurection remix rom
rm note 3 pro have sd chipset and i think no roms for it yet couse bootloader .... its annoying for devs.... again shame... they mean that they are too big for fall .... dear xiaomi u didn't...
The reason the pro has no roms is because no developers has the phone yet and it is the first snapdragon 650 device in the world. There will definitely be good rom support for it but not for some time to come.

Wow I had no idea that it's the first snapdragon 650
Well that explains a lot, I guess I just have to wait to buy the phone until some Roms is released.
Xiaomi locks the bootloader now because many retailers added adware and spyware, it is really just to protect the customers, you can still unlock it after approval.

Plus, according to Xiaomi - they will release kernel sources for the device up to 3 months after the device has been launched in India. That means no stable custom roms until they release the sources.... if they release them at all
But I read that you could bypass the unlock method some where on the internet…I will post the link asap

Redmi Note 3 32GB Mediatek version - unlock bootloader

Hi, I need help. My girlfriend bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 32GB / 3GB RAM Mediatek Helio X10 version.
I want to upgrade the firmware because it needs an upgrade. Since she bought it, February, it didn't updated one single time, and it has some bugs that upset her. So, here is the problem.
I already asked for permission from Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader, and already got it. When I tried to unlock, got the 50% problem (Current account is different from the account info on the device). Since then, tried to flash (from the Updater App) the developer ROM, also with no success (couldn't verify package).
The last option, I believe I have, is to manually flash (using MI FLASH software) the developer ROM and after that, unlock the bootloader to finally install the MIUI 8.0 (that's the goal of all this, with the unlocked bootloader).
So, how can I do this? Suggestions, tips, tutorials, guides or experiences, everything is welcome!
You have to go to latest Beta/developer Version and the Unlock should work...
Else just Update miui, because maybe the Bugs are fixed

I already solved it by 'hard flashing" the miUI 8... because that's the version she wanted. Didn't try to flash the miUI 6 [developer] because I was lazy, but mainly because I didn't see any gains for her from doing it [unlocking the bootloader].
Thank you 2 for the replies!

Device is Locked

Bought an old redmi note 4 from local shop. It is on miui 9 stable rom. Then after some days i flashed AEX 8.1 ROM used for while, Now i want to go back to stock ROM so i flashed global beta version and flashed successful,
then the problem comes after completing initial setup this messege appers" device is locked sign in with mi account" i have already an mi account and password but the user name appears is someone else account ,i don't know whose account that may be 1st owner's .
Question is Is there is any way to overcome this? There is no option to change the user name only password entry there.

Im pretty sure you cannot change or overcome it, person which you bought the phone from should deregister the device from Mi account first.. if he didn't do it then contact the seller.

If you have original proof of purchase with original box then you can try to contact Xiaomi support or maybe local Xiaomi service centre if you have some nearby.
Personally i wouldn't even bother, MIUI is bloated garbage anyway just stick to custom ROM's.

Same here. Seems like this updater isn't configured to receive OTA updates at all. Dunno what they flashed.. but the bootloader is locked.
Normally, the updater has these 3 dots.. even to manually flash a zipped ROM.. but this one seems disabled.
ROM version is 10.2.2.0 - Chinese is already at 10.2.5.0. I could imagine that we'd stick forever on this ROM version if we don't unlock and flash another ROM..
Really wish I could flash a e.g. xiaomi.eu ROM - but bootloader unlock takes 360 hours.

I see you are working on other devices, are you planning to build any roms for Mi9 SE? I am interested in the device but SE models in the past didn't see much development.
Also are custom roms doomed for phones with in display fingerprint scanner? On One Plus 6T still doesn't work on roms.

Hello all, got my mi 9 se yesterday, and no luck trying to unlock it. Did not even get to the 360hrs . on the 3.3.525.23 version(i got the 50% error, couldn't verify device), and on the latest version 3.3.1212.33(application query failed error). I had checked for the proper driver to be installed, and that is fine. Checked USB ports(this is weird but all fine). I checked the logs, only errors are that it is not synching to China servers, meaning to say I am not based in China. Does anyone have any advise as to how to overcome my issue, would more details be required?

thanks for the input friend, but I forgot to mention earlier that I did all that and it still did not work. In fact, I own a redmi note 4, and did the exact same procedure 2 years back and it went well.
I welcome your suggestions
EDIT: After trying out on a spare laptop, which had USB 2.0 ports(Intel chipset), it finally got passed and countdown had started. Not sure why, but it seems hopelessly ridiculous the way this has been set up. In any case, thanks all for the feedback, and please try all methods no matter how ludicrous they seem.

Because it's far better than anything else.
I'm on xiaomi.eu right now, but looking forward to some AOSP ROMs like Pixel Experience or EvolutionX! Correct me if I'm wrong but now that the global version of the phone is out, I assume we can be expecting these in the coming months? Perhaps directly on Android 11?
Ok, so the phone can be bootloader unlocked and rooted? What about custom ROMs is that possible? I just don't want to spend the money and be stuck on their version of the os in any case I don't like it, just like it happened on emui with the p30 pro

Yes, that's both possible, however we don't know how many devs will buy the phone so there's that... Currently, I own the Mi Mix 2s and custom ROM support is awesome. I hope for something similar with the Mi 10. To unlock the bootloader you need a Xiaomi account, when I got my Mi Mix to years ago you had to apply for unlocking permission with something like "I want to develop stuff" or something, after a few days you would get a text that says permission granted. Afterward you start the mi unlock tool and then you have to wait for something between 3 and 30 days(for most people it was 14 days) until you could finally unlock.

Yeah it used to be like that but now to unlock bootloader you still need a Xiaomi account, but no need to apply for anything. There's a Xiaomi Bootloader Unlock Tool in their website and you can do it through that without needing to apply through their website/ forum. Might still need to wait a week or two after registering the phone to the account tho.
Coming from a P30 Pro, I now own the Mi 10 series & I unlocked both of them.
Waiting time in both cases has been 7 days.
So far I tried Xiaomi.eu ROM, which is based on the chinese ROM.
It's fully translated in several languages & also keeps the good stuff untouched, which you won't find in the official Global ROM.
There are stable builds and developer builds, that are regularly updated.
I also tried MiuiMix, which is based on the Xiaomi.eu ROM and is pre-rooted & tweaked for
more smoothness and better battery life (so they say).
It is either regularly updated.
I also hope for more custom ROMs (I liked Resurrection Remix on my Mate 10 Pro)...
