do u guys recommend this phone over the pro 3 elite? (x722) - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

my x720 died and i not sure about what to do.. ppl talk about poor battery on this phone. will it stand like 4 hours straight watching streams and still have a spare battery left with a good battery optimization rom?

Battery life is ****. Never had more than 4 hrs sot.
On aicp 8.1 right now, about 3 hrs sot.

It really depends on what do you do on a daily basis. If you value the battery more than a 1440p screen go for the pro 3 elite but if you want to get into VR, watch some high quality videos or play games you can get the max 2.
I don't have any problems with my battery even though its so small for that display and if you're into custom ROMs I don't think that you will find any for the elite version.
EDIT: I'm not quite sure if the last part is true because sd820 and the sd821 are kinda different but they use the same codename (msm-8996).

False. Cross-device support is alive and well for all 3 versions [X720/X722 Elite/X727]

Heyyo, well said for x2 vs pro 3 Elite. I agree with this.
The Le Pro3 Elite does lack NFC like the Le Max 2 so if you value NFC for stuff like Android Pay you might wanna pay the extra for a Le Pro3.
The Le Pro3 Elite is officially supported on LineageOS 14.1 and 15.1 as of the end of January 2018 and same for any ROM that uses the same code base or imported the changes.

Both phones will suit you but you have to choose between better battery or a bigger crisper screen.

If you're on a tight budget, you might want to consider Nubia M2 (SD625, Super AMOLED display, downside: Android 6 rom) or Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X (SD625, Treble LOS rom, Franco kernel available) for those purposes.

I think you can get good battery life on stock rom

Hello, i want to change this days my phone and i first looked at the Zenfone 3 ZE520KL but now i discovered Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 3gb+32gb (Qualcomm) and i really really want to know more about it. I will use it in Romania, it's the "kenzo" good ? I want this one because i see a lot's of custom roms and i love the Cyanogenmod or RR. How's the battery, daily performance, gaming performance and battery performance ? I don't care to much about the camera. Thanks a lot for the answers ! :good:
If you don't care too much about the camera,I personally think that the redmi note 3 snapdragon 650 variant(2 or 3 gb) is great.
The kenzo refers to the redmi note 3 with a snapdragon 650 processor, sometimes called the redmi note 3 pro.
battery life is great. You could easily get 9 to 12+ hours depending on your setup and usage. Daily performance is smooth, there are very few, if any stutters or lags. I don't know about gaming, because I don't play very intensive games, unless ppsspp counts. If it helps, playing ppsspp is smooth, and there are no lags or stutters when playing, unless you intentionally speed up the emulation, where the game stutters a bit.

I Recently bought this device, The 32GB SD variant and the performance of this device is like HELL Awesome!
The gaming performance is amazing like it can handle all games without any lag.
I played Nova 3, Asphalt 8, Gta San Andreas, Dead Tigger 2, Over killed, Nba, Sbk 2k16 and also some games on the psp emulator(PPSSPP) WITHOUT ANY LAG! TRUST ME.
The Camera performance is also amazing but not in bad lighting but still it's awesome. You can record videos in full HD (1080p). The camera doesn't seem to have auto stabilization but if you use a tripod than the quality is just amazing. The front facing camera is also good, Can take awesome selfies and I don't have anything bad to say about this.
The battery backup is also amazing... JUST Amazing! It last me around 20-23 hrs with heavy usage.
The display is also amazing and sharp you can watch YouTube videos in 1080p.
The fingerprint works gr8!
The only problem is that we just get about 1.3gb of Ram available out of 3gb but still I never notice any lag on this device.
The reason behind this Ram issue is the MIUI!
MIUI takes a hell lots of Ram as it's a custom ui but its optimization is well like I never notice any lag while surfing the phone/web or even while playing heavy games.
Still if you think that this is a problem for you then you can always flash a custom ROM on your device.
I think MIUI will improve there Ram optimization while updates. So don't need to worry.
Overall believe me if you gonna buy this device than YOU GOT THE BEAST IN YOUR HANDS!!!

Thanks for the reply I know the MIUI isn't the greatest android, thats why if i'm going to get this device i will install the Cyanogenmod or RR in the first day. But how about the screen ? I read that we dont have any screen protection...
its tempered glass i put another nillkin h+pro glass on top of it anyway. but the original its scratch resistant...just like gorilla glass.
and miui isnt bad actually...its pretty nice, dont worry about RAM though, SD650 is really powerful so even if it loads from CPU its fast

Xiaomi did not reveal the details about glass protection they used. Instead they said, the glass is scratch resistant has equivalent protection as same as gorilla glass provides.

Well that really depends on what I'm doing when the screens on. If I'm playing Mobile Legends about 4 hours, If I'm watching videos about 5.5 hours, if I'm just on here reading or replying to emails then 6-7 hours. Don't put too much stock into peoples sot because how they use it may not be anything like how you use it. With QC 3.0 you can go from 0-100% in an hour or 0-35% in 12 minutes.
Hi, went from Note 3 to this phone as well. If you worry about the battery life, at least compared to Note 3, don't. The processor is way more power efficient. Of course if you push it hard with games it eats up the battery fast. Medium to moderate use i get easily through a day with 30% percent left. The best thing maybe is the speed compared to the Note 3 lags (thanks Samsung). However there are many phones to consider. If you have a bit more budget i would also look the OnePlus 3T.
I was worried about the battery coming from a redmi note 3 which had a beast of a battery.
I never failed to get through a full day yet and the QC makes all the difference when you need a topup. Battery could be better but it is by no means bad.

Use small eui by iaureeel. Has best sot as far as I know, use it myself. Of course, never can be enough, but around 5hours is good for this phone

Overall speed

Would you say that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Very good even with 2gb ram
MTK note 4 is lightning fast. Never wait for anything. Gave SD version to wife.

Really constructive comment there.
And you would be wrong. The topic is "overall speed". No contest, the MTK wins hands down.
In fact, from experience, not what some other people "think", I can't think of one thing the QC version does better.
(Never) SLOW.
Running AOSPEx latest build on Mido 4/64gb Version, the antutu result is 64447.
I have the global version, I say the performance of this device is far better than my old Galaxy S5 G900F. But I do feel custom ROMs influence the performance quite a bit.
My Redmi Note 4X is very stable and fast.
I play many games like Real Racing 3 and I get a stable framerate (60fps).
fast enough for my needs: podcasts, email, gps, internet, skype, calls/texts, low res gaming.
Very fast and reliable in sustained operation.
I had my mido transcode a bunch of h264 videos using x265 (arm7l build). All 7 clips, each 41 minutes long were finished at 74-hour mark, tying the performance of S625 to similarly clocked Core2Quad.
So for all 74 hours the CPU was loaded at 100% and had not glitched or crashed the transcode.
Throttling was within acceptable limits, frequency fell down to 1689MHz once ambient reached 37°C and went up again to 2016MHz with 18°C ambient.
For geeks it might be a good idea to fix some thermal paste on the SOC to extend it to the back Al chassis for more effective dissipation. Stock dissipates more through the front screen than through the back panel.
It's not bad.

I own both versions and in day to day usage there's actually no difference in performance. So the snapdragon variant is better here.
LineageOS works great. Variant Snapdragon 4/64GB
My Mido Redmi Note 4 ia doing really well. it is only 3 Gb of RAM, but is satisfactory to my daily needs.
The performance of Redmi note 4 is fast and efficient in handling heavy games and apps, and the battery to keeps upto the mark, it has cool looking aesthetics and what else can I say??, it's the bang for the buck at that price range!!!

ElexirOS vs. NOS vs. Bootleggers

Sorry for that many posts, but
I have been looking around and people say these 3 Roms are the best.
What is the best of them? I am on Bootleggers+AGNi right now and the performance in Pubg is great and I am getting around 6 hours SOT.
What is the most stable of them with best SOT and performance? (With AGNi or any other kernels?)

Yup, but stability of oreo isnot good as compared to nougat. As legends are leaving this device and MM bolbs may cause trouble in future, It will hardly see a stable android p build. For now NoS is good. Can you tell me why are you using agni instead of stock ?

well...depends on your use. I will recommend it, the only thing I don't like is the battery in every other aspect works good. I don't root it yet, I plan to do it, to install apps for improve battery like L-Speed or Helix Engine

depends on your use I mean, do you have an agressive use of social networks, play games, etc...better a Xiaomi, if it's for regular use works good. The fast charger is a pro, with half an hour you have a decent amount of energy to continue until the night

again, it depends on the use. In general with my use I have 1 day and 15, 17 hours of battery average. And with SOT, 3 hours 30 minutes. Again, depends on the use. With agressive use the battery will drop a lot.

well if it's in that way maybe better a Xiaomi for the well balanced battery. I read that the Redmi Note 4 gets 6 hours of SOT. I know that other models of LeEco have 4.000 mah battery but I don't know how is the optimization
It doesn't has microsd card slot.So 32 gb storage can not be expanded.QSD 820 still rocks in most of the heavy games, despite of being 2 years old and way better than QSD 808 of op2's.Your choice.

yes one of the reasons I want to change is the processor and the screen
if battery is not a problem go for it... i usually get 4-5 of SOT (sometimes less it depends on your usage) and gaming like pubg literally kills the battery 25% per pubg match...
Heyyo, yes I would say it's worth it. I had a Nexus 6P which had the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which isn't good for battery life and performance isn't too great either in 3D games. The LeEco Le Max 2 with Oreo custom ROMs works great in 3D games. :good:
I would also look for deals on devices with SnapDragon 835 as they have also come down in price (albeit nowhere near as low as the Le Max 2) as you never know, might find one worth the price difference.
So yeah, if you're into 3d games or want a device with a higher density screen? The Le Max 2 is worth the upgrade.
We do lack SDcard and NFC though, so if those are important to you? Unfortunately you'll have to look for a different device...
Also, the camera on the Le Max 2 is really darn good. Only downside is the OIS isn't super effective compared to other OIS devices and we only get 1080P 30fps (and 4K UHD 30fps). I'm guessing it was a budget cut on the Sony Exmor RS IMX230 we got in order to keep the prices low... But damn, this camera with Google Camera Mod? It is impressive what it can do!

Heyyo, for ROM updates? There is some from LeEco yes... But they're still Marshmallow and they don't really bother updating security level which has been on January 1, 2017 for quite a while...
For custom ROMs? Pretty much any Oreo ROM. They're all really darn good and almost all of them still get constant updates.
I'd recommend searching the ROM development thread and see which one has the most recent comments to your linking. :good:
I myself am the Le Max 2 maintainer for LineageOS 15.1 and tbh I haven't really tried any other Oreo ROMs so I can't comment on how their balance of performance, battery life and features are but yeah there's a lot to choose from and you can't really go wrong.

HDR works fine with any camera app. For Oreo ROMs though it is recommended to use Tolyan009 builds as they are stable for us.
Quick Charge 3.0 works fine for me yeah. Some users report charging issues if the battery goes above 40°c and that is something I will be looking into.
Battery idle consumption is pretty good... But screen on time isn't due to mainly the QHD screen and not massive battery to compensate. I tend to get about 5 hours SoT and I don't 3D game or such. Mainly web browsing, Telegram, XDA and VNC Remote PC control.
Like others have said, screen on time for the Le Max 2 isn't so good... But it can be improved with some sacrifices to performance. LineageOS tends to lean a slight bit more towards performance than a balance between performance and battery life.
For kernels? There is bs kernel and the GalaticStryder kernel (found in the LineageOS "Pro" thread) which both have threads in the ROM development forum section.
Resurrection Remix Power Saver is the ROM that comes to mind for battery life over performance. Afaik it doesn't have an active thread on XDA so they use a telegram channel for updates, downloads and discussion.

been using the phone for 3 days now
flashed lineage rom and got 3:50 hrs sot with normal usage
also got 156000 points on antutu which still impressive
charging takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to 100% using 5.2v 2A lenovo adapter
so overall yes it worth buying and would have been great if the company released nougat at least
I am a Mate10Pro user and i bought very cheap the LeEcoMax 2 from Ebay. I just want to test it but now it replaced my Mate10Pro completly. The device is now 2 years old but running very fast and i have flashed AEX Official v.5.7 based on 8.1 and it's a real good combination . I also flashed LOS on it and it's also a good rom in combination with the phone. I am using a Gcam mod and the pics are awesome, the portrait mode is working great. I have to admit that the battery life is not that good compared to the M10Pro and also some apps are not opening such fast but these are things i can live with. Cheers
