Keyboard oversized at higher resolution - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Does anyone else have a problem with 3rd party keyboards being oversized at higher resolutions?
At the lowest resolution setting, the keyboard is normal-sized, in the middle it's still usable when the keyboard is adjusted to the smallest setting, but at max resolution the keyboard takes up about half of the screen, even at the smallest setting.
This is true for SwiftKey, SwiftKey beta, and g board, so far as I have tested.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Hmm, now that you say it, I see the issue too. I never looked for the option for a smaller keyboard. Nice option..

Same here. I use Swiftkey, currently running at only FHD+ (grrrr) until this is fixed. Samsung keyboards are unaffected.

Using Swiftey, and on the smallest setting it uses only slightly more screen that the Samsung keyboard. And that's with the number row turned on. If I turn off the number row, it's slightly smaller than the Samsung keyboard with the row of symbols at the top.

I'm using GBoard. It's sized fine on mine in WQHD.

[Q] Screen Resolution

I have a Dell Streak 5, but I bought a Galaxy S II last night. I realize the screen is a bit smaller, but I find the resolution or density extremely poor...I like a lot more on my screen, and it seems everything is too large. It's a show stopper for me. Is there anything I can do to change this before I return back to the Streak?
There isn't really a viable software fix for this, so just return the phone and get a Galaxy Note (1280 x 720 at 280 something PPI, 5.3inch screen).
1. Get your device rooted
2. Download "LCD Resolution" from Market.
The lower the number, the higher the resolution.
NOTE: Apps may not be fully optimized for this kind of resolution such as Phone, where the keypad is smaller than the screen. Market works with this DPI modification.
Also click on "Always Set On Boot" in the app so that it would automatically adjust your desired Density at boot.

HP K4000 (Bluetooth wireless keyboard)

I bought this new wireless keyboard HP K4000 few days back. I am totally satisfied by the quality and design of the product. It is connected via bluetooth without any dongle and also have android function keys. It is a good alternative for Sony BKC52 plus it is cheaper than it. If you guyz wanna use any external keyboard for your tab go for itttt.....
Here is a video which i made to show the keyboard

been using logi k810 and works great. I noticed google keyboard height setting only applies in portrait mode which takes half the screen in landscape.

you can try Disable Fullscreen Keyboard Xposed module.

Resolution size issues with certain apps

With mate 10 lite's resolution being 1080x2160 (18:9) instead of the traditional 1080x1920 (16:9), I find that some apps (particularly clash of clans) are too blurry with standard settings applied. For some apps the phone offers the "full screen display" option, which is basically only for apps in vertical position. Due to clash of clans being displayed in portrait mode, it's really blurry up until the moment I change the DPI settings under developer options. Standard is 432 and I change it to 502. But everything becomes pretty small on the phone at that point and after the reboot, it will jump back to 432 dp. Does anyone have another solution for this non-traditional resolution size?
You could try using the adb commands in this post. I used to use it to force the resolution I wanted on my Z5premium
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/general/root-4k-screen-resolution-t3631413
I have also noticed like you that after a restart the changes in developer options reset to default. It's pretty annoying and I can't find the any setting in build.prop to try make it permanent. It's not in the list as far as I can see.

Turn off keyboard backlight

hello, my xz1 compact inst root and I have some questions:
I - Anyone know an app that reduce or turn off keyboard backlight, and that reduce absolut low light numbers? I do not like how this phone is bightness at night and not satisfied with the most famous apps on play store or night mode.
II - When stamina mode is turned on my keyboard starts to act strange like buggy and delays between touch and real write. Does anyone know how to solve this?
III - I'm using OnePlus app for gestures and not satisfied with my keyboard app. I'm using Gboard didn't like chromma and Swiftkey, does anyone recommend an app for bigger board since I had no navigation bar on screen? thank you!
1) CF.Lumen has a great red-light night mode, that makes the phone comfortably usable in utter darkness. The lowest brightness level on this phone is definitely a weakness.
2) It's likely Stamina Mode reduces performance to lengthen battery life. You might try a simpler, more lightweight keyboard, maybe? I think there's one called 'Simple Keyboard' that is really lightweight.
3) You can resize both Gboard and Swiftkey to be pretty large, easily taking up more than half of the screen.

Bad (phone ?) resolution on some apps

Hi all, I just upgraded from the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Tab. All in all it is a wonderful tablet but it also shows that the Xperia still remains very good in 2020 despite its age!
That said, I noticed a loss of resolution on some apps with the Galaxy.
Now I know that these two tablets have the same resolution (2560x1600) but a different screen size. As the Galaxy screen is larger, its ppi is smaller (287 ppi vs. 299 for the Sony). But I have the feeling that some applications behave on the Galaxy as if they were on a phone.
The Catan application for example has a tablet controls behavior on Xperia, as well as a very fine and pleasant resolution, where the same app on Samsung has a ridiculous resolution and phone controls (I put the app on my phone to compare and the controls are the same). See screenshots.
Now, I tried to play with the minimum width in the developer settings, which affected the menus, but it doesn't work in games.
Do you know how to solve this problem or if there is a trick to make the applications "believe" that they launch on a tablet and not on a phone?
You can try these options:
1 - In the Game Booster settings see if resolution is not 100%
2 - In the Display settings set Screen zoom to minimum
3 - In Developer options try to increase the Minimum width
