SM-T825 TWEAKED 5.1 ***** PIE ***** 20JUN2020
T825_CTD1_TWEAKED_5.1_DB4_by_rorymc928
Based on latest stock CTD1 firmware
Tweaked, stable, zip aligned. SU/D
Forced encryption disabled
Deknoxed
Debloated
(GPU driver updated to latest adreno 313 rev 23.... returning soon)
Busybox
*****
Magisk updated 20.4
Matched edxposed version can be installed, or not, if preferred via magisk
(note that edxposed is the new framework replacing xposed to allow use with pie, it requires a number of steps, but fairly simple, guide to follow )
Edxposed installer
Gravity box PIE pre installed
Can be dirty flashed over CSH9 , or factory reset both will work. Recommend straight flash over PIE rom / CSH9, negligible benefit from wipe
Requires bootloader update to a pie bootloader if not on pie already.
(it will work without, but experience shows the bootloader update is required for the fingerprint reader to function )
For edxposed......
Xposed does not support android pie.
However, we now have edxposed, a magisk module which does basically the same thing.
Requirements are,
1. Riru core. Go to magisk downloads and type in the search bar "riru" , near the top you'll see riru core, click the download and it will install and offer a reboot.
2. Riru edxposed. Same search and you'll see riru edxposed further down 2 versions I chose sandhook, no reason but it works for me, same thing download it, it installs and offers reboot.
3. Edxposed installer , almost identical to the xposed installer, already installed in the Rom, open it and you should find gravitybox pie version in the modules section it may require switching on.
Advantage of edxposed is it passes safety net,..... I'm told.
Gravity box pie is still in early development, so whilst it has quite a bit there it's still a way off being complete, some selections didn't function for me, but a lot did.
Gravity box will still need to be switched on in edxposed modules.
More mods to follow...
Let me know how it goes

Best flashed over updated firmware, should dirty flash but tested with factory reset, so do your backups.
Follow instructions below....
1. If you have xposed installed, either select it off in the app or uninstall, I only selected it off.
2. Boot to TWRP
3. Go to wipe, and select factory data reset.
4. Install ROM
5. Long boot........,
6. Ignore the xposed force close
7. Do your normal startup load.
8. Magisk, if that version flashed, will function at this point.
9. If you wish to operate xposed as well,go to the xposed installer app(matched version preinstalled),open it and install the framework, which will be systemless/system. Non recovery installation works fine. It will require reboot.
10. On Magisk version it will pass safetynet check whilst xposed is selected off by its switch, otherwise it indicates fail. So you can swap, as needed by work perhaps, with one reboot.
11. Use gravity box module to switch off stock battery icon.

Good job bro! You did it! I remember reading your post about sh*t not working or you having problems, or something to that effect... I hope you stick around for Lineage 15. You did a really good job on the T820 build....

Thanks, have some appointments today but should get it in line with the T-820 ROM soon. Make sure you get back with anything you find.

Anyone can test if Netflix si working using magiskHide? and If you can get HD content?

First of all @rorymc928 thank you so much for this Rom..
Can someone please tell me what is "tweaked" in this Rom? I went to T820 thread, but there it says "Tweaks similar to version 1.6, re benchmark tested and adjusted to tune performance.".
Is it debloated?
Thanks once again

If it's the same as T820, main user tweaks are pre-installed Magisk, Xposed and gravity box. Almost all tweaks for gbox work including battery bar and center clock. There's a lot of UI tweaks you can make in gbox so you just have to give it a try. I do run his tweaked build on the T820 and I just gotta say it runs really nice. I can't recall what all is on stock as far as bloatware, but seems pretty lite and easy enough to remove more if you want.

You have to use this Magisk module:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-netflix-enabler-enable-netflix-t3708126
You can also do it manually.
HDR works too.

Gravity box is a great resource there's a lot that works but it can be trial and error for the mods that don't, I included it in the T-820 ROM, just forgot this time, but it is simple to install through the xposed installer anyway.

No debloating as yet, next step I'll get 3 minit battery in, which will bring it in line with the T-820.
I'll need to look at my notes for the list of tweaks.
Debloating can be a bit contentious, everything you take out someone else wants. Kainanmaki suggested aroma for it, so that may be the best way.

You're absolutely right about this. Tried both ways and yes, there's a 3 to 1 difference in Size
I wonder if there's any way to force the HD download with the libcrypto modification.

if you check using DRM info (download it from playstore) is the tablet without libcrypt oem at windevine L1 or L3? on stock rom is L1. Device in L3 can access only SD content.
Try to use the following apk that should force the HD:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75465158&postcount=132
Using this app the streaming quality is better? And the download size?!?

New builds up on first post....

2.1S2 super user +system xposed
Thoroughly tested by Kainanmaki, great thanks to him

There is a permissive kernel available,here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/kernel-galaxy-tab-s3-sm-t820-t825-t3603094
Not sure if its what you need

Let me clarify:
If I modify the libcrypt oem, the Google Play Netflix app streams HDR perfectly.
The DRM check states L3, but still streams HDR. The only stuff that's broken is the offline download.
There the L3 kicks in and the quality of every donwload is SD. It's the only problem.
I tried the apk you posted but it's exactly the same as the original.
Streams in HDR, downloads in SD.

Viper4android Driver status : abnormal and unsupported?

So recently I've rooted my galaxy s5 tmobile sm-g900t and install viper4andriod. I have Busybox installed through google play and installed on both my xu and system folder. I also made sure there was enough space. Around 30mb of space. I then installed SeLinuxMode Changer and Universal init.d so that i can force the SeLinixmode changer to stay on permissive. There is a bug where restarting and exiting out the app would reset SeLinux mode you have selected. Now that that SeLinusMode restarts on permissive, i was able to install Viper4Andriod. I then continued and installed the driver, but after installation, i checked to see if anything changed in the sound. Nothing changed so i checked the driver status. It turns out to be Abnormal and unsupported. I'm running 2.3.40, and have also tried the latest version of Viper4Andriod, but both doesn't seem to work. I have stock touchwiz rom and completely disabled and removed Knox. I checked my root with Root Checker, and it passed. But for some reason going into recovery mode, it asks me to install supersu because it was missing. But at the same time, i am running PhilzTouch, which is outdated. I have tried other methods, but it doesn't seem to work. I just need to get pass the driver status problem.
If anyone know the solution to this, I'd very much appreciate it if you help us all out.
Same for me : with 6.0.1 rooted, the driver was unsupported.
What worked for me was to install viper4android from the play store, as the 2.3.4.0 version has better sound (in my own opinion) than the 2.4.0.1 that can be found elsewhere. After installing the driver in high quality, it showed as unsupported.
I had to flash two additional files that you can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52106530&postcount=609 : Viper4A-[Build.Prop-Tweaks]-CWM.zip and Viper4A-[Soundfix-LibFiles]-CWM.zip. I am no expert, and probably only the second file is required but I flashed both and it just worked.
Also, you don't need a SElinux permissive kernel. You can simply flash the file linked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61242973#post61242973, and it will patch your system. As long as you have supersu installed, you will be able to use viper4android in enforcing.

Install the APK in the standard way (not in priv-app or most convolvers won't work).
Install the highest quality drivers and reboot to recovery
Flash the update here from recovery to allow V4A execution with SELinux Enforcing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61242973#post61242973
Flash the Viper4A-[Soundfix-LibFiles]-CWM.zip from this message (but not the others) to replace the system sound libraries in /system/lib/soundfx with V4A-compatible versions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52106530&postcount=609
Reboot
In Viper settings, use Normal mode, not Compatible.
Enable V4A-FX in the desired profile (it is not necessary to use Force Enable V4A)

Well I am sure that it works both for SM-G900F on 5.0 and 6.0.1 roms. The best for you is to make a backup of your system before trying. As it only impacts the system and not the kernel, it should work whether it is g900f or g900t...

Mmh I answered just above to that question? I tested it both on touchwiz with android 5 (lollipop) and 6 (marshmallow) and it works! It said "only kitkat" because at that time lollipop wasn't out you can see that the original post was dated from early 2014.

For some reason the driver keeps asking me to install it after flashing 2 the zips.
Guys, can you check this ROM(lollipop 5.1.1) for geiti94 which have all ready included this app. Very stable and battery friendly.

Is your kernel still permissive? If not you can also try to flash the supolicy fix.
You can also try to remove completly the viper4android app and reinstall it.
Lastly there are some identified issues with some supersu versions. I am sure that the driver installation works with supersu 2.52 (my main one when I was on lollipop) and 2.68 (the one I use on marshmallow). Changing your supersu to 2.52 could perhaps help you. This is identified in the main viper4android thread here "If you see V4A installation pop-up loop, its probably due to incomplete root."
Hi. I have a G900H with stock rom, just rooted and Selinux enforcing and Viper works just fine. I just installed it and also installed busybox and flashed a file I got somewhere on xda to permit Viper on enforcing. I also had to verify my settings on supersu to uncheck the entry for namespaces. Hope it helps

@USA-RedDragon - For his Werewolf kernel, and allowing me to include it in my ROM
Current Known Issues:
H918
Some people have experienced skips when listening to music over Bluetooth. I too have had it happen, but it is not at all common, and lasts less than a fraction of a second. Putting your phone either on vibrate or DND seem to help further reduce occurrences.
H910
4.0 is based on 10L, not M, as my dump of that one would not boot. WiFi Calling and VoLTE do work, however.
All Variants
Data Wipe option in Aroma doesn't always work. This is a glitch related to newer hardware and Nougat, as verified on the HTC 10 as well. If you expected your data to be wiped, but it was not, please reboot into TWRP, perform a Factory Reset, and then flash the ROM again. You MUST flash the ROM again after a factory reset, or you will lost systemless root AND your internal storage may encrypt.
Netflix - They have blocked their app from unlocked/rooted devices. You can sideload it from APK Mirror, or use Magisk to hide root from Google Play Store, then clear data on the Play Store. Your device will then show as Certified and all blocked apps will be available.
As any more come up, they'll be added here, and then fixed ASAP.
Pre-Install Steps
If you are not already on TWRP 3.0.2.0-RC8 or higher, do that first! Bootloops and loss of access to recovery is possible with all older builds
Backup your existing ROM
Notes
I recommend wiping data and flashing clean, if coming from another custom ROM. This should not be required, but you may wind up with FCs if you don't. A clean flash is required if you're on an older custom ROM, or older stock based on 10d.
If you're already on an older build of my ROM, you can dirty flash future updates. However if you experience FCs, please do a clean flash
Changelog:
v5.0 T-Mobile
Updated base to 10K (May 2017)
Added Google Pixel Launcher from Android O Beta 2
Updated all Google Apps except Maps
Reverted Maps due to GPS issues for some
Updated Aroma to 3.00 Beta Downgraded back to Aroma 2.70RC2 in fixed build
Cleaned up the app lists somewhat
If Aroma freezes during the install, pull the battery and start again - this only happened to me once, in over 30 test flashes
Rearranged some of the menus for better flow
Spent a good 4 hours rewriting the installer-script to make it look a lot less ugly
Added Werewolf kernel by @USA-RedDragon in place of NotSoStock
Available without root as well
Further tweaked the memory utilization in build.prop, allowing background apps to remain in RAM longer
I think there's a few other changes, I just can't remember them at the moment. Roughly 20 hours into this update, brain is mush.
NOTE: Due to the changes to memory utilization in build.prop, your first boot after the update may cause the phone to lag. This will clear up within 5 minutes, and will not occur after subsequent reboots.
v4.0 T-Mobile
Added New Options for No Root Installs
Stock and NSS kernels available without root
3minit and V4A options still work
Updated all Google, LG, T-Mobile apps
Updated Nova Launcher
Updated Magisk to 11.6 (12.0 finicky on V20)
Removed Adaptive Brightness mod (was glitchy)
Several additional build.prop tweaks
Added Optional Apps
Google Voice
SMS Backup and Restore
Speedtest.net
Removed Pixel Launcher - Assistant interferes
v4.0 AT&T
ROM base updated to 10L (10M won't boot)
Added New Options for No Root Installs
3minit and V4A options still work
Removed Werewolf kernel
Updated all Google, LG, AT&T apps
Updated Nova Launcher
Updated Magisk to 11.6 (12.0 finicky on V20)
Several additional build.prop tweaks
Added Optional Apps
Google Voice
SMS Backup and Restore
Speedtest.net
Removed Pixel Launcher - Assistant interferes
Now some notes and observations:
There was a report of the ROM not froze at the AT&T splash. If this occurs to you, first wait 5 minutes to make sure it really is frozen. Then, pull the battery and then boot up again. The Android is Starting screen will then come up as expected.
There was also one issue where the ROM wouldn't boot past the AT&T splash. For this, boot into TWRP, flash the AT&T boot.img (attached to the download post) using the IMG flash option, then flash Magisk 11.6 (also attached), then reboot as normal. I'm also uploading a patch to AFH, which should automate this process. Give it a try and report back.

Yeah, I was big into development in WM 5 and through to WM 6.5 up until I got the Droid X in 2010. It's gonna take some time, but I'm getting back into development as a whole.

@NotATreoFan great job bro, bootup was fast as you advertise, wow, no lags or stutters i can say so far, only issue for me is that some LG apps need to be put back in, namely the LG app updater as Home and App apk has an update as well as the weather widget and Memo for the capture feature, but other than that for me its definitely a good start for a DD, thanks

Great work on the ROM!
Question, how did you get the post-install apps to not install?

I think it's from one of the LG items I removed. Going to experiment tomorrow morning and see if I can make them install again.
I also realized that I accidentally removed Calendar Storage, so that'll be fixed tomorrow as well.

@NotATreoFan thank you for this broham!!!!!
I just flashed Tilde88's latest and after a night of testing his tonight I will be flashing yours to test out. You all are so highly skilled and keep up the unbelievable work.
When I'm up and running with yours tomorrow I will report back and do a comparison of the 2 ROMs.
If there is anything I can do as far as testing holler at me, I'm down to tear up my phone.
Again, thank you and keep em coming baby!!!!
i got the post-install apps to stop installing by changing the model number in the build prop the the US unlocked version.
Also to the OP how the hell did you get the ROM to deodex successsfully every time I do it i get stuck at the TMO boot animation

It's not deodexed yet. That's my plan for today, along with some bug fixes.
oh ok. Yeah every time i've done it with superRs kitchen i cant get past the TMO boot animation. Someone did successfully do it as there is a rom up thats deodexed.

you know the bravia reality engine thing the other rom has. Do mods like that (framework) require that the rest of the ROM is deodexed? I know apps needed to be deodexed for editing but didnt know if it affects other mods.
Usually just do CM stuff
Is there any chance you can upload JUST a system IMG? I'm seeing if I can get this working on the US996...

I don't believe you need to have the complete ROM deodexed, just the parts you're modifying. But I could be wrong since I've only done this a few times.

As soon as I get the latest test build booting, I'll make a system.img and you can try it. There really shouldn't be a reason it wouldn't boot. It just may behave weird if there are files it's not expecting.

Difficult to say with the firmware changes but pretty much always better on later releases, some changes will be subtle but add up, no apparent change in appearance.
I have some mods planned but I need some feedback from others on this rom as it stands, before I go further with this rom, it runs well for me though.

Rom seems to be running very well so far. Just installed today. Not much different from stock except for a few more options in settings. Nice work
Just wondering, any way you can mod this so Secure Folder can work while rooted?. I've heard it can be done with Xposed and we now have Xposed for Android 7.0

Thanks for replying, I tried a T825 rom as well they had a few boot loops, I have no way of testing that one. Nobody seems to be posting, except for that, which meant I had no way of knowing it was working for others, your post means I can move on with this rom and re examine the other.
Check out AKT kernel tweaks for one plus 3. I believe it works for this device also. Not sure if it's a placebo effect but seems smoother. All I did was install the apk and use the tweaks from there.
Thank you

Hey @rorymc928. I see there's been about 90 or so downloads but no real feedback. Sooo my take. I flashed a couple days ago and all seems to be working perfect so far. When I test I like to run through all the settings and haven't gotten all the way through, but checking about half the settings, so far seems like everything's running perfect. I flashed, booted, set some settings, deleted some Sammy stuff I'll just never use, installed BusyBox and restored apps through Titanium and all's been running perfect. Battery seems to be really good. On a dimmed screen reading, it looks like I could get about 10 to 12 hours battery with everything enabled. Great first effort. :good:

[MOD] [Magisk Module] [Universal] Swap Torpedo - run faster (2018-3-20)

This is a new Magisk Module awaiting processing for inclusion as an official download.
Seeing as how I developed it on the honor View 10, I thought I would give fellow honor owners the first opportunity to try it. (Update - now in the Magisk forum)
Let's take a look -

It makes no sense to use 500 MB of swap with 3 GB RAM free!
(Note - we're going to update RAM Truth - the swap type used on the honor is zram.)
So here you go -
Swap Torpedo - A Magisk Module
Universal compressed-memory swap (zram, etc etc) destroyer - run faster and more reliably!
By EarlyMon - version 1.0
Swap is a way to expand your RAM using clever software and some unused storage space. You see it a lot in Android as zram or vmswap.
Swap is a fine thing for desktops with sufficient resources and for Android devices really hampered with too little ram.
It was originally intended for devices with less than 1 GB RAM.
If you have an Android One or another small-memory device, this is NOT the module for you.
But if you have 2 GB of RAM or more, you want this.
Do you suffer from lag, random UI pauses, apps not running correctly and consistently, and background apps failing even when you have them marked for protection? Do you have to reboot every day or so to restore speed?
All of that is almost always caused by having swap implemented and the Swap Torpedo fixes it.
Manufacturers, including Google, have fallen in love with swap because it allows your Android to synthetically appear better at multitasking. In reality, it ruins multitasking.
Why? For large memory devices you want the swap space to be at minimum the square root of your RAM size and ideally the same size as, or up to double the size of, your RAM.
The problem is that they don't use enough space because they can't - they're basically using a compressed RAM disk as a swap partition.
If you think about that, it will raise the right questions.
Does it make sense to use RAM for something other than apps and the operating system? Does it make sense to constantly have the operating system pause while it shuffles and reorganizes your RAM? Does it make sense for you to wait on everything while various pieces of RAM are getting zipped and unzipped to support this scheme? Does it make sense to do all of that incorrectly in the first place because you can't get enough swap space to properly support multitasking, by design?
No. No it does not.
Swap Torpedo is the answer.
I designed it to be universal for any Android that Magisk version 15 and above supports. If you're not using swap, or if you installed your own swap solution that writes to a special file in storage, Swap Torpedo harmlessly does nothing.
Verify your swap situation with RAM Truth available on the Play Store. It's free and it will never spy on you or ask for special permissions.
Donations are humbly and gratefully received at [email protected] but not expected. My personal reward is knowing that I helped and you are having a better day now.
This module was developed entirely on an honor View 10.
Changelog -
v1.1 - 2018 April 1 - functional update
More phones supported now, maybe all
v1.0 - 2018 March 17 - initial release
Set minimum Magisk to 15
Download -
Magisk forum: [MODULE] Swap Torpedo - run faster and more reliably
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-swap-torpedo-run-faster-reliably-t3766883
Notes and other orthodontia -
Don't try to flash this in TWRP until data decryption is working. FlashFire definitely doesn't work.
Magisk Manager only.
Magisk v16 or better required.
I had the following problems on my hv10 -
My external DAC/amp wouldn't work reliably.
Music players would hang in the background, regardless of how I protected them.
I have a lot of apps - I couldn't fling to the bottom in the EMUI app drawer and what I could was always interrupted by a lag spike.
I would have to reboot my phone every few days to get it to run faster again.
Swap Torpedo fixed all of that for me.
You don't need swap/zram on a phone with this amount of RAM.
Gonna try this on mate 10 pro

It issues a single command at the end of the boot initialization - in the case of a Huawei or honor -
swapoff /dev/block/zram0
Just to clarify that nothing is running - in fact, if your rom was using swap, now it's running fewer processes.
Are you on EMUI or a custom rom? If custom, did you verify if it had swap implemented first using RAM Truth or equivalent?

I'm on EMUI
I will be keeping an eye on the RAM and how good multitasking is. for now it is a little bit better than before, but nothing special. but I gonna try and play few games and see how it is

I wouldn't expect multitasking improvements in terms of running more apps but I would expect better stability multitasking.
I would expect better stability and less lag overall.
Others have consistently reported gaming improvements in performance with this mod over the years.
gaming is the same without and with that mod. actually I tried asphalt 8 again and it's still so super bad optimized, that even the kirin doesn't run on full speed with this game... also some other, really "light" games are lagging here and there... very strange. and this mod sadly didn't help
Bummer.
Hi, I've tried to install your module, but I get the error "Installation failed: Please install Magisk v15.0+" but I have Magisk v15.4 installed and enabled..
Maybe a problem on installation script???
Thanks

Either re install 15.4 or even install v16.x I often had this issue with modules too, magisk was running fine but the modules couldn't detect it, a re-install or update fixes that

I wasn't thinking, I have a test release of 8.1.
I'd set the minimum Magisk to version 16.
Nothing in the module ought to have any trouble with your version of Magisk.
Give this one a try!

Did you confirm 0 swap used with RAM Truth?
I have another user where it's failing to work right with Magisk 16.2 — and I know it's right with version 16.

Nice work. I'm glad to already see some custom ROMs (well, in that case, SOM).
However, this is the first time I encounter a SOM, is it just a Magisk module that can be turned on and off at will, switching between stock and Mars? Or shouldn't I do that?

Sorry for the Issues! Could You try again now? I have removed the Vendor stuff for now...
Can You also try to use them seperated? I do actually not own the 1 III so i can't test Myself. Feel also free to collab. with Me on GitHub

Hi what do you mean by use them separated? Like install/activate the base module, reboot, then do the system module?
Yep, it could be one of them or both which causes the Bootloops. I updated the Base so it might be that... The System should cause less Problems at the end... @tonysunshine
I also got a bootloop after installing the zips. I tried following the instructions on your github and was able to do the device simulation with the props config module, but can't follow the next step "Download and extract the NgaResources.apk to /MARS_SOM_SYSTEM/system/product/app/NgaResources" as there's no NgaResources.apk file anywhere on the github that I can find. Could it be this missing file that's causing issues?
Xperia 1 III here.
I followed the steps on github and everything went smoothly even after I flashed the MARS_SOM_BASE zip. However, after flashing the MARS_SOM_SYSTEM , I stuck in a bootloop. I have downloaded the MARS_Product_Overlay apk and place it.
I am willing to help if you need further info.

Wow, I'm glad the BASE zip worked so far. You are getting a lot out of it. But I'm pretty sure there will be bugs around somewhere...
And thanks a ton for Your Post! I'm on the go but if You want to test around...
Move folders out of the _SYSTEM /system Folder like /product, /vendor and so on. Start with removing all except for one Folder and try if it boots up. If You can tell Me which folder causes issues or even which files will I handle it on GitHub for You.
About the Files @tardis_42 . You can find the Files on My Website / Google Drive. The link is in the Readme on GitHub

I wanna help but recovering from bootloop is a real pain in my a**. I somehow managed to disable all magisk moudules and get out of boot loop but I am not sure if I can do it again. The only two methods I knew about getting out od a bootloop is removing modules with TWRP but currently 1 iii doesn't have one, the other method is using the adb command but I am not sure how to send adb commands to the phone while it stucked in a bootloop.
Any ideas?

You can simply hold Volume down while booting to get into "Recovery Mode". It disables all Modules and most Apps. You can reboot from that into the normal state again... Should mention that somewhere I think... (It's a Magisk Feature too)
Edit: Does not work with USB Connected! Hold Volume down after You see the Bootloader Unlocked Message. Keep holding until You are in Android
Edit 2: Think Ill make Video guides too for some needs if there is enough Interest...
