WARNING: DO NOT ENCRYPT! YOU WILL CORRUPT YOUR ENTIRE DATA INCLUDING INTERNAL SDCARD
(Please do it carefully)
Disclaimer
Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Introduction
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock android for your device. More info.
These are my UNOFFICIAL builds of LineageOS-15.1 for LG V20 variants. I did NOT create this ROM. I am helping to contribute to this ROM. Thanks to all other coders who contributed to LineageOS.
IMPORTANT
BACKUP! These are UNTESTED builds. Please be ready to recover your previous ROM. If it kernel panic, boots into bootloader, etc... grab as much info as you can.
Builds are done periodically (see download below)
Do NOT be rude.
Respect all users.
Any and all users, please help each other. I have a us996 variant, so other variants might have some issues.
Known items
Lack of 2nd Screen Support
VoLTE and WiFi calling do not work yet
Other known issues (same as OFFICIAL too):
us996 static on boot: Unlock bootload from LG, using dirty santa causes static on boot, will not fix. (sorry)
WiFi or Bluetooth MAC is "00:00:00:00:00:00" - You wiped the misc partition, you'll need to fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70474540&postcount=12
5Ghz tether not working due to "error"
Enabling ADB Debugging in development setting can cause a kernel crash. If you are quick and press OK right away, it will take and still crash. On reboot, it will be enabled.
H918 - ARB1 .. flash the 10p version, ARB0..flash the PRE10p. (10p is where the ARB got tripped to 1)
Install
You can upgrade from 14.1 (UNOFFICIAL) to 15.1. If you are not on my UNOFFICIAL yet, flash the to-x86cpu.zip first (and reboot recover before upgrade, not reboot into system).
I would suggest the TWRP from Phoenix591 (See Thanks section below)
Flash to-x86cpu.zip if you want. (See Downloads below)
Flash UNOFFICIAL ROM
Wipe cache, and dalvik cache
Magisk if you choose
Flash GAPPS (I use nano)
Reboot and wait....
(Copied from OFFICIAL thread)
To enable Developer Options go to Settings, About Phone and repeatedly press Build Number.
If you use ADB read this: PSA by CM
If you use reboot to recovery read this: PSA by CM
Regarding new Superuser: PSA by CM
Bugs
If you encounter issues/bugs that are not known, please report. This is not the OFFICIAL ROM, but I can help to get any issues fixed. I use the us996 variant. If I can replicate your issue then I can track it down. If I cannot, please provide as much detail as possible. Logcats are great.
Please indicate what v20 variant you have (h910, h918, ls997 us996, vs995, h990/ds) and what you are running (OFFICIAL or UNOFFICIAL) and date. Any mods (no judgment) as well.
I am aware people run mods or change things. I am not against it (as I do myself). However, if needed I may ask you to data wipe (you can say no), or remove a mod that might be interfering. I will do the best I can.
Thanks
Any and all users in this thread who contributed or will contribute to making this ROM as stable as possible
LineageOS Team
@Rashed97 for continuing
@Phoenix591 for TWRP update that support OTA ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3720239 )

What is not working or problematic
What is not working or still wonky:
Encryption -- Works.
USB OTG -- Should be working.
Ambient display -- Disabled now.
Livedisplay -- Should be working.
IR will work, then timeout, then work again.
Video recording -- Should be working. Works sometimes, appears to record, but playing back audio is at the beginning, video at the end, and the duration is messed up.
5g tether -- Not working still.
No FM driver.

Freakin' lit. Flashing it on my VS995 now. Awesome work!

Thanks for your effort for bring LOS definitely I'II try this later tonight on my vs995 .

Thanks a lot sir, @x86cpu, your dedication should be an inspiration and I implore all users to thank and possibly donate to this dev. Make him rich. I would say this thread is XDA portal news worthy.

There can still be bugs I haven't found. I tested what I could on a us996 using a VZW sim. Apparently LTE might be a bit weird in a vs995 device.

I'll have to check into it.

Its great that you're able to get this up basically as soon as the april fools thread was locked and disappeared XD . Will be installing soon.
Edit: Like others are saying finger print reader is MIA (US996).

On the vs995, so far so good. Only thing I see missing is the fingerprint sensor. But maybe it's been moved

Couple more issues:
Encryption is probably broken: I let it go for an hour and the ETA was still at 0:00 like it was the whole time ( I had only a handful of apps installed and in 14.1 it only took around 5 minutes).
Enabling adb caused the whole system to crash and reboot, but it did seem to be enabled afterwards.
Still enjoying Oreo benefits like YouTube picture in picture mode

@x86cpu Thanks for bringing Oreo to our devices! Very smooth experience so far except Ambient Display seems bit sluggish. Disabled it and its all good now.

I'll have to check encryption too. Did you upgrade from 14.1 encrypted? Or just try to enable the encryption? (ADB kernel panic is a known issue right now.)

This was enabling from unencrypted. Had handful of apps but none of my large ones restored yet so it should have been really fast.

Confirmed on the h910 as well, enabling causes a crash and reboot

I thought It was the April Fools post. I'll be waiting for the ARB1 version for my phone

So is HiFi DAC working? I thought it might not be possible...

F.A.Q.
ROOT! ROOT! Give me root or i'll die!!! Where root is???
Root has been removed from LineageOS builds, to allow people who are not interested in root access to enjoy apps such as PokemonGo or banking apps. A zip to re-enable root will be provided here. Other packages such as SuperSu, magisk or others are not supported and may cause problems
Why no nightly this week?
Build failed. Check again in 7 days
When do I have to wipe data?
You must wipe data only when you're switching from another rom or migrating to Snapshot branch from Nightly and vice versa. You don't need to wipe data when you update in the same release channe (this applies to 13.0 -> 14.1 upgrades too)
Will you add <insert awesome feature here>?
I won't. If you write it, submit a commit to gerrit, where it will be reviewed.
The LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

What is not working
- Proximity Sensor Proximity gives the finger for switching off screen in calls but works.(under investigation)
- Video Recording fixed but sometimes camera force closes .(under investigation) Fixed
- MTP fixed 13/06/17
- Volte Testers needed for this to be fixed. Closing this down until we get some
If you have Volte support and you can test please respond to this thread.
Shout out to Demetris and Firelord for their tireless work. Also shoutout to Magus, Alekdev, Huskied, and everyone else (including myself) who have been working tirelessly with the devs and testing. We have been endlessly testing for bugs and the devs have been getting things fixed. Please stay tuned. This is only the beginning!
This phone is not dead! Once we get a stable LOS release, I will be learning the trade of developing and I will be working on some releases as well.
i don't have the idol3 anymore, but man, this is so good news even for me! i feel so happy for you guys, to see this phone still alive, and now you can build infinite roms based on LineageOS, really, have fun with the idol3!
Thank you guys !!!! Will try it first on stock, then I'll push the gapps (on clean install) to test it out. You guys are legends !
And may I ask: How can we get supported by the official community ?
For gapps and the su addon, you need the arm 64 versions. Not the arm versions.
Everything works except the camera. I can take a photos without problems but it can't record video. I tried with google camera all versions and didn't work, any ideas? Btw thanks a lot for this rom ?

In call proximity sensor doesn't seem to be working. Neither is creating a lock for the lockscreen. The settings would crash when I tried to make one. It seems to be similar to the bugs in lineage 13.0
I can live without a lockscreen, but I kinda need the proximity sensor.

Download the Catlog app from the Play Store.
There is also a donate version which you can purchase to show appreciation.
After downloading the Catlog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving. As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into Catlog and stop the log recording.
Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the thread with a brief description of the error.

About Nexus 6P (Angler)
I'm working on the angler build now.
There were some differences between it and Shamu that have me concerned that it still won't boot past splash, but I won't know until someone test flashes it for me in a few hours. If it doesn't boot past splash, then I'm pretty sure of what needs to be changed to make it work.
surprised no initial feedback on shamu build yet
Testing Shamu build, all smooth as always (NFC appears grey, but meh). The only thing is about throtling, who disable it?
Dunno? I noticed that too with NFC going grey once enabled. Don't know what you're referring to with the throttling.

Pretty sure NFC was a known issue for a long time. Maybe lineage hasn't resolved it yet but Beltz and other camcory based roms have it fixed. Other common issues to check for are things like BT pairs not keeping, BT not properly re-connecting and no deep sleep when using BT
Haven't loaded yet can you tell me if the following few features are in RR OREO yet:
Smartbar
Battery LED control
Expanded Desktop
Double tap to wake at least in kernel support if not in settings

I'll look in the morning. It look as though they have most of their features in it. Whether or not they work is yet to be tested though.
If anyone finds a Gapps package or knows of a means to resolve the Play Store issue, let me know.
This issue again is that the Play Store does not recognize that you've already purchase paid apps, so it attempts to get you to buy them again rather than let you download what was already purchased.

Background:
We've been offered LOS 16 GSIs in the past (here, and here), but they haven't been updated in quite a while, so as a LineageOS lover, I decided to step up and do it myself. Turns out it wasn't so easy - there were a number of hurdles that prevented it from building properly, booting or being feature-complete. But here I am, having figured out most if not all what's needed, and verified booting on an arm64 ab device I own, I'm ready to share my findings as well as some builds with you.
Disclaimer:
This is still mostly a LineageOS team / PHH @phhusson effort, credits to them and all associated for making all this possible.
No instructions will be offered. If you're here in this forum, you should know what you're doing.
No guarantees that everything would work. This is a GSI, bugs are bound to happen.
Do not report hardware-related bugs in this thread. I am selfish and only care about getting it running on my device with whatever features I need working. Plus I'm not PHH and can't solve any either.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/
Compressed as .xz archives - extract first.
Vanilla except for these changes:
Modifications needed to make it build/boot/feature-complete, see below
Disabled "vendor mismatch" warning on boot
Re-enabled lockscreen shortcuts
Default stretch-to-fullscreen (force apps to render in 18:9)
Extra tip:
If you have a relatively low-end device and experience UI stutters, try this simple build.prop trick (technically a debug property, so use at your own risk). Thanks @SnapTheRipper for bringing it up!
Modifications needed (builders-only):
Now for the juicy part. On top of PHH's already fantastic build script, you'll need these:
device/phh/treble:
Revert Update lineage.mk for LineageOS 16.0 - add back LOS sepolicy, so that LOS-specific features like Profiles, LiveDisplay, Styles, Trust would work
Revert exfat fsck/mkfs selinux label - fix a conflict in doing so
build/make:
Revert Enable dyanmic image size for GSI - fix building
external/tinycompress:
Revert tinycompress: Use generated kernel headers - remove dependency on generated kernel headers
frameworks/base:
Revert Initial support for in-display fingerprint sensors - use PHH's implementation
vendor/lineage:
Apply build/soong/Android.bp: Disable generated_kernel_* - disable generating kernel headers, since GSIs don't have a kernel
Revert lineage: Enforce privapp-permissions whitelist, or change it to log
vendor/qcom/opensource/cryptfs_hw:
Revert cryptfs_hw: Use generated kernel headers - remove dependency on generated kernel headers
Apply [TEMP]: Header hack to compile for 8974 - fix a missing header
And that's it. Doesn't look like much, but most are pretty hacky solutions, and I don't expect them to be merged anywhere. As I said, I'm only interested in getting it running, I don't care what it takes.
Stuff on GitHub (builders-only):
I've also collected necessary scripts/patches and uploaded them: treble_build_los, treble_patches (PHH's treble_patches adjusted for LOS). Not the cleanest code, but should help if you still need more clues.

I thought it's the avN one. (Didn't boot on my phone.)
As of now I've received 1 report of A-only booting up alright. Although I don't take hardware-related bug reports, it's advised to post whether it boots on your device so as to let other users know.

avN, bvN - not clear enough?
Thanks again for A-only build...tested and works great on MiMax3 with stock PIE vendor!!!
Only thing not working is equalizer for audio, opens a empty screen but no FC or error message...but ringtone, music etc. working.
Just tested this on a Nokia 7 Plus (B2N) with the bvN images. Everything seems to work just fine, except for VoLTE/VoWiFi (which I don't care that much about anyways...).
Voice calls, Camera, MusicFX, Fingerprint, Bluetooth, LTE, all work as expected. Will come back after some usage with more info about battery life and such.
@AndyYan Awesome stuff, Andy! Thank you for this guide--will try to build it myself soon enough after I run your build for a few days to test.
By the way, do you think this will get OTA updates from LineageOS? The updater seems to work as expected, but haven't seen any new options there yet.
Thanks again!

Oh, that is very unfortunate. It is running really smooth as a GSI
So that means that each security patch comes out, I will need to start from scratch and reflash the image? That would make it a bit a pain each month
Anyways, thanks for the quick reply!
On the Galaxy S9: I dirty flashed it over vanilla phh 111 to see if it boots. It did with the usual force close of course.
Then I wiped and reflashed. But stuck at the boot animation. The splash screen was there for a half century too... my guess is the ramdisk stoff from the kernel. there are some other Kernel version I will try those later.

Just flash the image on top (along with whatever mods you're using), no wipe needed. It works like flashing ROMs on a regular A-only device.

Finally there's a LOS 16 GSI! I have been looking to try to compile my own with phh build script.
Sorry which one should I use _avN or _bvN if I have an A Only Arm64 (Wayne).
I tried to flash the _avN and got stuck at the Mi logo.
Thank you very much to do the work.

More info.
These are my UNOFFICIAL builds of LineageOS-17.1 for LG V20 variants.
This now runs System-As-Root. Ie.. / and /system are merged, so /system is really /, and /system is /system/system.
There are currently no gapps yet for lineage-17.0. So Google GSM apps are pre-installed in this. Once they are available, I will discontinue adding them.
For broken issues see 2nd post
Issues:
us996 static on boot: Unlock bootload from LG, using dirty santa causes static on boot, will not fix. (Flash the us996-DS version)
WiFi or Bluetooth MAC is "00:00:00:00:00:00" - You wiped the misc partition, you'll need to fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70474540&postcount=12 (Should be fixed by static hax thanks for @Blaises)
5Ghz tether not working due to "error"
H918 - ARB1 .. flash the 10p version, ARB0..flash the PRE10p. (10p is where the ARB got tripped to 1)
Install
You can upgrade from 15.1 (UNOFFICIAL) to 16.0 to 17.1. If you are not on my UNOFFICIAL yet, flash the to-x86cpu.zip first (and reboot recovery before upgrade, not reboot into system).
You cannot upgrade from lineage-17.0 to lineage-17.1
I would suggest the TWRP from Phoenix591 (See Thanks section below)
Due to system-as-root, TWRP might indicate no o/s installed. I tested rebooting into recovery before flashing the two tested Gapps.
Flash to-x86cpu.zip if needed. (See Downloads below)
Flash UNOFFICIAL ROM
Wipe cache, and dalvik cache
Magisk if you choose
Flash GAPPS (I use nano)
FlameGapps (I tested Basic)
Reboot and wait....
Bugs
If you encounter issues/bugs that are not known, please report. This is not the OFFICIAL ROM, but I can help to get any issues fixed. I use the us996 variant. If I can replicate your issue then I can track it down. If I cannot, please provide as much detail as possible. Logcats are great.
Please indicate what v20 variant you have (h910, h918/p, ls997 us996, vs995, h990/ds) and the dated version. Any mods (no judgment) as well.
I am aware people run mods or change things. I am not against it (as I do myself). However, if needed I may ask you to data wipe (you can say no), or remove a mod that might be interfering. I will do the best I can.
Thanks

What is working:
WiFi
Camera
GPS
NFC
2.4 Ghz Hotspot
USB OTG
The v20 Second Screen! The upper left area is now a defined notch. This allows for the second screen area to be active now!
What is NOT working:
VoLTE and WiFi calling do not (and most likely never will).
5.0 Ghz Hotspot
Encrpytion is untested, so it may fail.
Unsure if Gamma Kernel will not work.
Anything else NOT listed above might or might not work. I will adjust as necessary and reports. If anyone has any knowledge and can troubleshoot and fix the NOT working items, let me know.
logs
Here is how I capture logs. You need to ensure you can do this right at boot and will need to setup ahead of time.
You need to have root, either su, or "adb root". Verify you can get root quickly.
Here are the steps I do to accomplish this. This is a Linux system, so windows will vary slightly.
Reboot the phone while plugged into the computer.
At a shell, keep attempting to get root/shell:
Code:
adb root ; adb shell
Once connected, immediately paste the following (to capture logs).
Code:
cd /cache
nohup dmesg -w > dm &
nohup logcat -b all > lc &
If you have root installed via Magisk as "su":
Reboot the phone while plugged into the computer.
At a shell, keep attempting to get root/shell:
Code:
adb shell
Once connected, immediately paste the following (to capture logs).
Code:
su
cd /cache
nohup dmesg -w > dm &
nohup logcat -b all > lc &
Once Phone reboots, or boots up. The needed files are in /cache "lc" and "dm", and are available in TWRP even.
I have not had the time to fully test things. So please report back what might not be working correctly.

There are things in LineageOS that have not yet been completed. Battery circle is one of them. Once Lineage completes that part it will show up in a later build. There could be some others too. Gapps still does not have a release that can be used yet.
First I thanks @x86cpu for giving us the latest Android Rom lineage 17, I have a bug when calling. It's just with speaker mode and couldn't disable speaker mode.
Thank you so much @x86cpu !! I dind't see this coming!
I dirty flashed over LOS 16.1, everything works fine so far. I can confirm Gamma Kernel V13 can boot. But I can't confirm whether it's problematic or not, still testing.
Also, if I were to clean install from stock Nougat, can I skip flashing LOS 16.1 (LOS 15 then directly flash LOS 17)?
Thank you so much @x86cpu your work is greatly appreciated
If anyone needs an app store I strongly recommend Aurora, it's a FOSS play store client.

If you can, get a logcat, it'll show exactly what's wrong and x86cpu can fix it easily
Currently testing, clean flash with gamma v13 boots up. It can be really smooth but also really laggy. Brightness slider works like it should be mostly, but lags.
I don't know for sure if 90hz is actually enabled, I can't really see it, with gamma v13 but lineage 17 is being super smooth sometimes, like with the nav bar swiping up
I tried to install magisk, but the phone doesn't boot it just get a error screen, anyone knows how to root this rom.
Thanks
VS995 Boot Loop
VS995: I dirty flashed over LOS16. The phone boot looped into recovery on reboot. I then tried a factory wipe and a fresh install. The phone reboots and starts the setup. During the setup the phone app force closes, the phone reboots into recovery and is boot looped to recovery. Anyone having luck with the VS995? I will get logs if needed.
VoLTE and WiFi calling do not (and most likely never will).
What actually prevents this from working? I know I read something about the way LG implemented it but I can't seem to find that information now.

They need to be remade from scratch since LG is using proprietary code. This also applies to the fm radio
@x86cpu Thanks for bringing LOS17 to the V20. I am a former v20 user. Was just passing through
A couple of general tips on los17(have been using it for some time on my v30):-
There are serveral gapps for Android 10: I like https://nikgapps.github.io/ the best. Opengapps test builds are on sourceforge(a big buggy), others like bitgapps, exlite gapps also exist for Q.
Older magisk version like 19.1, 19.3 etc. cause bootloop on los17, I recommend Magisk 20.1
Again thanks for maintaining LOS for v20, I enjoyed it a lot when I had the v20.
Audio devices aren't working. Bluetooth connects (active, batterylevel) but the audio plays through the device's speaker and 3.5mm devices aren't detected.
Occurs with both stock and Gamma kernel,
I dirty flashed 17 over 16

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub organization. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Compatibility notes:
You MUST be on Android 9 stock ROM before flashing this. (Most of you are on it already anyway.)
This ROM is entirely untested on the SM-T385.
Based on previous projects floating around on this forum, the ROM can be flashed but will not have cellular support.
I will NOT add cellular support to this ROM. I only have the Wi-Fi only tablet, and that is all I am going to work with.
Boot can take about a minute because Samsh*t's camera blobs are rather unstable and it takes it a minute to load up.
Things that do not work at the moment:
Offline charging is unsupported at the moment. Will be fixed soon, but for now don't bother with charging while powered off.
Reboot to recovery is totally broken. I have no idea why this is. It's being looked into.
Adoptable storage is not working.
Instructions:
Update to the latest version of Android 9 for this tablet. It doesn't matter how you do it, be it system updater or with Odin. Just get it on the latest version.
Install a custom recovery of any sort.
TWRP exists here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/3747564/
LineageOS recovery coming soon
Format the data partition. That is, on TWRP, the Format Data option (not to be confused with Wipe data)
Install the ROM like you would anything else in TWRP.
Do NOT enable "Update Lineage Recovery alongside the OS" for now.

Changelog:
20230310:
- Initial, rather broken release
- Things are ok-ish, it's selinux enforcing and all
20230408:
- Fixed sensors. Rotation working.
- Removed auto-brightness. Apparently this tablet just straight up does not have auto-brightness sensor, so I cannot support it.
- LineageOS recovery works.
reserved:tm:
Thank you!
- N3RDP0RT4L
Current Issues:
1. No functional SD support. The format menu shows, but after formatting the OS will not read the card when inserted.
2. Auto brightness does not work even when it is turned on.
3. Rotation support for any UI menu doesn't work out of the box.
Note:
NTFS is supported out of the box, when tested on a USB HDD reader on a dock.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 255 when installing .zip
... I just used Google better ... let me see. I'm relatively new at this, but I was able to build.
Thank you so much for your work! I've had this device for years and I haven't seen a single custom ROM for the T380 until now. I'm excited to watch this project evolve.
I'm surprised no one has tried Austin's. "ishitos" it's a really nice debloated stock ROM. It installed for Austin.

Confirmed it works.
Thanks for this! I was literally going to post for sale the day you posted and just did a quick search and found it.
Installed over the weekend. Looks like almost everything works... BUT I'm getting a DRM issue and no video plays (Youtube, Newpipe, Freetube, Reddit video, etc...). Going to try reinstalling. LMK if there is a setting or something you think I'm missing that causes the issue.

You could of used Austin's stock ROM edit; "iShitOS". It's really fast.

....this is post is for discussing LineageOS on the T380, the developer intends to improve it. It's really weird that you keep telling people to use a different ROM instead, kinda disrespectful towards the dev tbh.

I'd recommend it when the ROM is unstable, and incomplete. I know the Dev.
I recommend having a failsafe incase something is up with the ROM as well. I'm very glad to have lineageos available on the device.
While I agree that this ROM kind of isn't in the best shape, I do think that you should keep iSh*tOS to its own forum thread, or make one if it does not exist. If people need some other ROM they can find it themselves.
Sorry, I haven't worked on this tablet in a hot moment, a lot of other things got busy, I got sick and the moment I recovered I have two exams and an interview back-to-back. That being said, a number of things are fixed, notably the sensor drivers. Adoptable storage is an easy fix that I just haven't tested yet, but the real problem is the recovery reboot shenanigan, I suppose.
Ok
iSh1tOS is my project yes and it can be found in my rooting guide/treads. This thread is only for lineageOS 18 on the SM-T380.
New build: 20230408
Changelog:
- Fixed sensors. Rotation working.
- Removed auto-brightness. Apparently this tablet just straight up does not have auto-brightness sensor, so I cannot support it.
- LineageOS recovery works.
Reboot-2-recovery is still broken. I kind of don't understand why at this point, but I'll keep digging.
Note that security patches are still on March. Google has not released a security patch for April at this time.
