English Guide for TWRP+Root+Custom Rom
Step 1 – Preparation
Step 2 – Installing Chinese Rom (to get an Unlocked Bootloader) via Stock Recovery
Step 3 – Using ADB to replace Stock Recovery with TWRP
Step 4 – Installing Custom/Official Rom/Roms and Rooting
Step 1:-
Prepare a SD card and copy the china rom (NX551-update_1.59.zip), Super SU Zip (SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip) and any Custom Rom you wanna flash.
Get rid of any encryptions, fingerprints, passwords etc. you may have put on the phone.
Copy contacts, sms, call logs etc. (use super backup) and store on SD card.
**You can use a tool called "Nubia Emergency Tool" for backing up the service areas of the phone (optional). This backup will contain IMEI numbers and stuff. It'll help you later if you turn up with a brick after a bad custom rom flash**
Charge fully.
Download a flasher package like GizFlasher M2 v2 etc. prepared by developers in the gizchina forum, Greek Forum or 4PDA (to search for these, just use google and type nubia m2 gizchina/nubia m2 greek forum etc. Use google translation for understanding).
Step 2:-
Turn the phone off. Press Power & Volume up --> Boot to Stock Recovery. Use wipe function to wipe caches and data. Use update function and select the NX551-update_1.59.zip file and flash it. This will give you an unlocked bootloader.
Step 3:-
Boot to system. Select language and stuff. Turn on developer options. Tick OEM unlocking and USB debugging.
Use GizFlasher M2 v2 (or similar packages from other developers) to install ADB. For GizFlasher M2 v2, uncompress into a folder and run ‘Autorun.exe’ with admin rights. Answer ‘Yes’ to all and install ADB drivers systemwide.
You can check drivers by connecting the phone in “charge only” mode. Check device manager to see if ‘Android ADB interface’ is available. Give permission in the phone if required.
(If you find unknown Android devices in device manager, chose driver update (right click) --> Browse drivers on my computer --> Choose from list of drivers on the computer --> Android device --> Next --> Android ADB interface version.)
If the drivers are OK, keep the phone in charging only mode and check adb installation with a command like “adb devices” using the command prompt. This should initiate adb service and drivers (useful in Win10). Your device name will be displayed. Close the command prompt.
In the GizFlasher folder, run the "GizFlasher.bat" with administrator rights. In the window that appear, give "1" and enter for unlocking the bootloader (confirm on the phone if required).
Wait for the phone to restart.
The phone will restart in fastboot mode.
After this, type "2" and enter for flashing TWRP.
TWRP will be flashed and the phone will start in the new Recovery. You can unplug the phone from the PC.
*** Immediately after the TWRP, it’s always a good idea to setup language, time and brightness and remove screen timeout. Do a TWRP backup using the SD card.***
Step 4:-
Please note that using the stock recovery and ADB commands are usually harmless and rarely cause issues. But from this point onwards, it’s always a good idea to get a TWRP backup stored in somewhere safe (in your PC). Furthermore, if you wanna be more careful, take a backup of the service areas of your phone using a program called “Nubia Emergency Tool”. You’ll need the latest Chinese only version and instructions will be available at the 4pda forum.
Once, you’ve chosen a custom rom, please read instructions by the respective developer and follow those instructions.
Boot to TWRP recovery and do the reset. As a general rule, always wipe caches and data (full reset) and flash the rom. You’ll need to flash the SuperSU zip afterwards and wipe caches to obtain root.
If the ROM is working properly, restore your contacts, SMS etc. using super backup.
Note -
** Older phones that did not come with a higher 'Global Rom' version have their bootloaders already unlocked. In such a case, you can skip the Chinese Rom installation.
** For those who are having problems with ADB and Fastboot in newer Windows 10 versions - This is not your fault. The problem is probably with Windows. You can try to force-remove driver signature checking [restart with shift key-->troubleshooting-->Advanced-->restart-->remove sig. checking (option 7)] and do everything over.
However, do not waste a lot of time going through the same dance over and over again. The easiest way to use ADB/Fastboot is via Linux. That's an undisputed truth.
Just search for a project called FWUL (F*** Windows Use Linux) in XDA forum and follow instructions. You'll need a small pen drive (2GB or more) and that's it.

For 20 days I'm using the Miui Pro 9.5.2.0 chinese stable, to me this is the best custom rom for the Nubia M2.
I only see two problems...

Hi. Thanks for handling my query. I am planing to buy this kind of tablet too. However, I really want to know if I can grant root access in this device.
Update? I guess you can temporarily uninstall your SU if it hinders you to download updates for your device. Then, you can root your device again after applying updates.
(Why, is there any update for this device like Android 6.0 update?)

I see. Now my only problem is to where I'm gonna take the stock ROM for this device. I'm afraid I might brick the tab while applying some tweaks...
Thanks.

Tried KingRoot and Rootgenius but those didn't work on Marshmallow release
KingRoot worked on TAB 2 A10-30F but it lose root when rebooted tablet also you can not update supersu binary with kingoroot. So kinda stuck there.
I tried also that TWRP which you linked. Worked but could not install anything i.e. supersu TWRP.
So if somebody know where to find working TWRP for TAB 2 A10-30F for Marshmallow release

[OFFICIAL] [OTA] Oreo for Z2 Play

Hello fellas
Finally i catch OREO from Z2 Play and posting for all , it was a hard work of 3 days to scripting and get a valid serial number
I am not responsible for any brick in the device and only do the procedures if you are sure of what you are doing .
This will not avoid your warranty (if you have locked bootloader) and you will still be available to get automatic OTA from your device.
Warning:
* You need to have february patch from Nougat and buildnumber (NPSS26.118-19-1-6) to install OTA.
* If you have a different buildnumber or your device is branded to any carrier, you need to install a fresh nougat compatible with this OTA.
* Dont try ota update with custom rom, root, magisk or whatever. Install fresh nougat first.
* I recommend to make a backup of all yours data (they might be lost in process)
* Make a backup of your EFS partition.
* You cant downgrade to NOUGAT again, your IMEI and SIMCARD will be not available due partition and bootloader compatibility.
* If you brick your device, erase all your userdata, cache, system from device and install a fresh nougat to update OTA again, cause if not you can get stuck in bootloop.
* Be sure adb/fastboot will recognize your device using (fastboot devices or adb devices)
Download:
Stock NOUGAT NPS26.118.19-1-6
Motorola Drivers
Standalone ADB/FASTBOOT (thanks XDA/ GOOGLE)
Download OTA
Steps for installing OTA:
1. Connect your device in USB and install Motorola Drivers (I recommend dont try to install drivers first)
2. Download adb/fastboot and extract it (i suggest c:\adb for beginners)
3. Download OTA (dont extract) and place it in adb folder
4. Make a factory reset (recommended)
5 Be sure you have atleast 50% of your battery
6. Shutdown your phone, enter in recovery mode then hold power and press volume down for 1 second and release both.
7. Choose apply update from adb
8. In command prompt goto adb folder, then execute command: adb sideload Blur_Version.27.21.26.albus.retail.en.US.zip
It may take a while for install, so please be patient.
If i forget anything please tell me to i fix the post.
If you have got an OTA from another country (india, europe and others...) and you dont know how to catch it, please be free to contact me , so we can release it together and help others !
Thanks Junior Passos
Good job @raphamfc. Thanks.
Unable to download "Stock NOUGAT NPS26.118.19-1-6", and I've had a few others try as well; no luck. It gets to about 0.2/1.9GB and fails.
Worked for me
Moto z2 Play
hello it turns out that it tries to degrade nougat and it turns out that now I have been stuck for security downgrade so can I fix this to reinstall oreo?
there is not a method to flash it?
My update but i'm not really sure why. I have the NPSS26.118-19-1-6 build, installed as Junior Passos suggested, everything works fine. But it displays an error when trying to sideload de OTA. Could it be because my bootloader is unlocked?
Thank you guys, you are far way better support than Motorola itself.
Mod edit: OP quote removed
---------- Post added at 01:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:47 AM ----------
The error i'm getting says: E2004: oem partition fails to recover... oem has been remounted R/W and has changed the partition contents... Partition contents should not be changed for successful updates; reflash devide to enable OTA updatesE:Error in /sideload/package.zip (Status 7).

If you check your ro.build.version.full (via adb shell, and command: getprop ro.build.version.full) you'll see that your phone is also .en.US. In my case I'm on retapac (pacific software channel) and I have the version Blur_Version.27.21.26.albus.retail.en.US.
Try to check that, and if you see en.US, don't worry aobut the version.
I also downgraded to NPSS26.118-19-1-6 to install Oreo OTA.
thank's a lot for your answer : it's write :
Blur_Version.26.286.28.albus.retail.en.US
So must I downgrade?
It works with the Mexican variant XT1710-06, first you have to install the nougat ROM with the February patch following the steps in the the Junior pasos trheat. Also, I don't know if there's an error in your instructions but in order to do the sideload, in the recovery you have to use the Vol+ button to access the menu. That's what I did in my phone.
Do you have all stock? Locked bootloader?

If you downgrade your new version from nougat , you don't need to mess with bootloader or partition. Just flash the others (logo, modem, system, oem and so on )
you will be available to upgrade to Oreo since your build is correctly

doesn't have any problem you have locked or not. Just use a compatible nougat, enable debugging mode and don't forgot to remove password + fingerprint from cellphone, cuz he will show device is encrypted.

Is Magisk working for anyone? With installed Magisk v16.4 my device isn't booting anymore since Oreo, it just stays on the "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted." screen after a short vibrate.
Boots again after I sideloaded the uninstaller.

Guide: How to install updates after TWRP/ROOT

This is just my guide for updating. i wrote it down because i tend to forget how i did things when i want to do it again.
i am no expert. there could be better ways to do it.
Update after twrp
This includes a factory reset.
Root, TWRP and all your DATA is gone after this.
Do a backup before you do this!!!
1.
Activate usb debugging
Power off the phone completely.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power button to enter Fastboot mode.
2. fastboot flash recovery stockrecovery.img
3. boot into recovery (volume down+power)
install from SD: UL-ASUS_Z01KD_1-WW-14.1064.1711.96-user.zip
4. start system.
Factory reset
than shut down.
5. boot into recovery (volume down+power)

You just answered your own question. That's how it's always been done, doesn't matter whether you got a ASUS Zenphone or a Galaxy S phone from Samsung for that matter.

I use Magisk, but not Xposed. These instructions are based on the assumption that the bootloader is unlocked, and that TWRP is already installed on your device, and that the Rom in question has already been copied to a USB Stick via OTG cable:
01. Boot into Recovery Mode (hold down Volume Down + Power Buttons)
02. Always make a [Nandroid] backup (via USB-OTG, saving data on USB Stick preferably) when going from one Rom to another; Save separate important data (texts, call logs, documents)/apps prior to Rom Install using backup utility apps, e.g., Titanium Backup.
03. Sideload your Rom (via USB-OTG, copied onto USB Stick preferably)
04. Hit WIPE – Do a Factory Reset: Wipe Data /Cache/ Dalvik. Hit Back
05. Hit MOUNT – Mount USB-OTG. Select the storage device. Hit Back
06. Hit INSTALL – Browse for the Rom (zip file). Install Rom
07. Remember to Flash Google Apps
08. REBOOT the System
09. Complete the startup wizard and give the phone a 10 to 15 minutes before the next step.
10. Now reboot into Recovery and flash any mods/theme or kernel compatible with your new ROM.
a. Remember to 'wipe cache/dalvik' after flashing kernel

That way I would lose the Magisk, XPosed and phone settings. When flashing the original ROM, it will overwrite custom recovery (TWRP). I would like to know a way to update the original ROM without losing anything, understand? It is possible?

I can tell English is not your native language. If you notice under instruction #2:

That implies that your settings will not be saved, and refers you to other means to backup/restore them; a) creating a Nandroid backup within TWRP will backup the OS/Rom (and installed apk's) but no settings, data, files, etc., b) Titanium Backup does a number of things, if not all of what you inquired a/b. I would highly implore you do your research and due diligence before plunging into something blindly that you're not well-versed in which seems to be the case here. Just b/c I mentioned here what is it that I would do in your situation doesn't mean it works best based on your use case scenario. Hope that provides you more, and better clarity.

Of course, English is not my native language.
But I had read, I really did not have much practice in doing this by Titanium backup and recovering these settings. My initial question was: Is there any way to flash the updated ROM without losing anything? I realized that there isn't.

Thanx Guy God Bless U !!
Thank you ! all happened normally here God bless you !
I'm coming back here to explain how to update the ROM stock using TWRP and the Asus Flash Tool.
Some guys who are experts say it does not work, but there are videos on Youtube showing that it is possible to do the firmware flash directly through TWRP, I did not do it because of the risk of the softbrick.
These are the videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HebmIzuAfS0&t=194s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thEDEvA5UUs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzBQz1x4xfg
It may also be possible for "adb sideload xxxx" in the sideload option of TWRP (use TWRP version 3.2.3, which is hard to find on the internet), I have not tested it.
In my procedure the TWRP will be lost:
1) Download RAW firmware ZE554KL
2) Install ASUS Flash Tool (in version v2.0.1 does not seem to work), I used version v1.0.0.45.
3) Now, with your phone turned on and your debug mode enabled.
4) Open ASUS Flash Tool ((it does not matter if the model of the device is not listed)
5) Select the RAW firmware you've downloaded.
6) Click on the Serial Number of your device.
7) Click Start. I do not remember, but I think now the phone starts with TWRP or you start custom recovery and then put it in FASTBOOT mode (if you do this before Asus FlashTool will not recognize the device).
8)Start the process on the start button (I can not remember if it has to start again), and then the RAW firmware will start to be copied. The phone will reboot again through TWRP, do nothing until the process is finished (check for TWRP and Asus Flash Tool), then just start the device. Recovery will be back to normal and the device will have the firmware updated.
*I could not attach twrp3.2.3 and Asus Flash Tool (v1.0.0.45) because of the size of the files.

Instructions:
1. Enable OEM unlocking in the developer options, then unlock your bootloader. Motorola Bootloader Unlock.
2. Install minimal adb and fastboot. I recommend using the portable version. Minimal ADB.
3. Download twrp from below, and place it inside your ADB & Fastboot folder. Then reboot into fastboot mode by holding Power + Vol ↓.

Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Then use Vol ↓ to select "Recovery" on the fastboot menu of your phone, and hit the power button.
5. Once twrp boots up, swipe to allow modifications. Then select wipe > format > type "yes". Now back up to the main menu of twrp and select, reboot > recovery.
6. Once twrp boots up again, select mount and check the boxes for data, system, and vendor. Then flash the Universal Encryption Disabler from 5/21/19. (See attachments.)
7. Back up to the main menu of twrp once more. Select mount and check the boxes for data, system, and vendor again. Then flash Magisk v19.3 from either your internal or external sd card and reboot. (See attachments.)

You don't want this TWRP if you are going to install any of the newer Android 11 ROMS in this group, you need the 64 bit TWRP. Use that image. There is another thread for that version.

This worked great! Only problem I had was unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP without booting up caused the stock recovery to overwrite it again for some reason. It did boot to TWRP with just the command, though. It just didn't save it for some reason. Still no major problem or anything. Your guide worked in the end and I'm happy ! However I noticed GPS is terrible now for some reason. When I'm on WiFi there's no problems but as soon as I go on mobile data: my weather app can't refresh anymore, Google Maps thinks I'm 50 meters from my actual location and the GPS is always turned 90 degrees away from forward. Is this a common problem?

Thanks for the answer .... as I said I don't have TWRP. When I tried to install it, after restarting the phone, it was no longer accessible. For this I used the other method for root (I didn't understand how to fix TWRP)
What do you advise me to do?

this procedure deleted all my data. I have upgraded the phone to version A.11 and now waiting to figure out how to root
I redid the procedure and in twrp I did a wipe data. I restart twrp and now I see all the memory but I can't copy magisk to the phone and then flash it

OEM unlocking always wipes your data no need to mention things again and again.
If you have TWRP first click wipe> format data >yes now reboot back to TWRP again
now click MTP disable and enable it now see if you are able to copy files.
