Charging speed - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Real Life Review

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

After latest update my m1 pro is charging slowly , it takes around 5 hrs to charge from 5% to 100% , even on lock screen it says charging slowly , though I am using stock charger .
Any help is welcomed.

Or completely shutting down the phone might decrease the heat and charging times.

Mine takes almost 7hours to charge. When I check using ampere it shows only 900mA max of input rate. But I think there is no any problem with my charger because it's normal when I use it to my other phone. Anyone has the same issue? I've been using any method that everyone suggest in some forum but it ended up in no change at all.

Same here
I m also noticing that after last update
If anyone got solution, then please inform me

I'm experiencing the same thing. The phone that my sister had just recently took a lot of time to charge, longer than to be expected. It said "charging slowly" in the lock screen even though using a stock charger, weirdly enough I tried using my Lenovo P2's charger which has the same configurations as the M1 pro and it did charge faster, it was saying "charging" on the lock screen. I've read how you shut down your apps to solve this, did you mean by clearing all the recent apps? because I did that and it didn't help. Is this because the new update?
Please reply, any help would be appreciated.

Yes , I meant clearing all the recent apps. After that when you put it on charging and recheck after at least 5mins , as then lock screen shows CHARGING RAPIDLY.

I have found a solution...go to settings then battery then click on 3 dots on extreme right corner...and then tap battry optimisation and there u will find not optimise written then click on that and change it to all apps and now your phone will charge rapidly.....plz do this while your phone is connected to charger

I've updated my phone. It takes 2-3 hours from 9% to fully charge. BTW I'm using QC 3.0 adaptor

So, I just bought the phone yesterday and updated it instantly. It is showing 'charging slowly' when using the stock charger which is provided.Just wanted to confirm that it's a issue with everyone and isn't a problem with my device itself as it's taking a lot of time to charge. Also, is there any OTA update coming for it soon?

[Solved] battery drained out and now stuck on battery charging screen

Hi,
I flashed the newest CyanogenMOD nightly on my SGS II previously running Villain ROM 2.1 with CF-Root kernel. Things were ok but I missed out on battery getting extremely low. After some time the phone went dead [due to complete battery drain] so I plugged it via USB cable to my laptop's USB port. Now it's been over an hour and all I see is the empty battery symbol re-flashing every 3 seconds [It's the same grey empty battery with a circle in middle].
I have tried booting the phone normally as well as in recovery but nothing happens! The battery empty symbol keeps flashing. I tried accessing download mode but it says "Battery Low. Can't Download". Can anyone please help me with this ?
Should I wait for couple of more hours or is my phone screwed, bricked or whatever....
Please try your AC adapter to charge. Keep it charging overnight just in case.
don't have the AC adapter now because it's in my office. But tomorrow this is the first thing that I'll do when I go there. will report if it works....
I hope it will work. Just keep it charging. That battery needs a kick in the A.

Your battery needs shock
Wrap it in a plastic case and seal it, put it in deep fridger for 3 -4 hrs, take it out and leave it until it gets the room temprature.
Now you need to charge it with slighly higher amp voltage charger and hopefully it will revive

I've got a problem in my phone, currently using a custom rom 7.1.2 by resurrection Remix on Lenovo A6000, I charged the battery normally upto 100, its discharge was normal till 71 percent. The battery dropped directly from 71 to 50 and now it has been at least 3hours that it is showing 50 percent. Few days ago I got another problem, the battery was 70 percent and then dropped to 53percent and then showed 69 percent. Anyone can help me please? I just wanna know if its just a minor bug or my battery has been screwed...

Random extreme slow charging

At least 2 times I have noticed that my honor 7 charges extremely slow also using original charger. I have to reboot my device to reach normal charge speed. Have somebody noticed the same problem? Which could be the cause?

Yes, I have this option switched off but I'm talking about VERY slow charging (like 2% in half hour). It happens only some random times apparently and I think it's a software issue since everything is ok after reboot (I have B121 software version).
I am also on B121 and have noticed this as well, with my main charger its fine, however with a couple of others it hardly charges even after hours.
Updated to B140, I'll let you know if it happens again..
I am having Honor 4x. Even I too have the same problem. It takes nearly 9-10 hours for my mobile to complete charging. It happens every time when I try to charge my battery.
@Albus91 Did you tried it after factory resetting the device? It might help sometimes.
I m using 4X I have same problem.....battery charging very slow means 8,9 hour need full charge and backup OK.....I formatted my phone but still same

with this kind of problem, it's either the charger or the battery that has a problem.

Okey guys, new thread update:
I have got new Xperia Z2, previous had some hardware touch screen problems.. and what? Same problem on new device. This problem occurs while upgrading android from 4.4 to 6.0.1 by installing updates one by one without any pause/reboot. Firstly it was around 80% max, last time 68%.. now I have solution. (Because of post above this one, I have uninstalled Smart Connect for tests). I have discharged battery to 0% and plugged in wall charger. It started to on/off/on/off after some time and I turned on screen to see % of charging.. it was 68%. I though I can keep screen up for sometime and check if it will pass 68% (because with turned on screen it drains enegry so it can't charge to "max").. and this passed... I dont know why its working, but it is. Started to blink again at 73%, 80%, 86%, 90% for sometime and now its 95%.... Just need to have turned on screen so it can't charge to its "max" After it reach 1% above limit, then turn off screen. Its definitely software bug. I still dont know how it will behave after discharging again.. Will post update. (btw. its cold like ice. xD)

I tried Motorola X Play charger and Blackberry one and they works without any problem but with the original charger and the M5 one got the on/off problem.
I've contacted Sony and send them a logcat and they said that I should send it them but I didn't, because I don't have second phone
I am having this problem recently too. My battery often charge at a very low current ( 10mA ~ 700mA ) and today it even discharge itself when plugged in!! I tried both USB charger and magnetic charging cable but still it turns out the same. I have criticized this problem on SuperSU v2.78 SR1, Google Play Service v9.8.75 and restoring them to the previous versions but still nothing changed. What I did later is I wiped all partitions ( except external_sd ) and installed AOSPA ( previously I was on eXistenZ v5.6.5 ) and after it boots it finally return a 1A current to me. However, this only happens occasionally which it will possibly corrupted like a couple of days ago. Still need to figure out what the he** is wrong with this thing. Frankly speaking, I nearly wanted to rush out to the 24/7 service centre in Hong Kong at 2am lol.

lol this happened to me too about 3 days ago.
I used the phone as always do and wanted to charge it normally with a usb cable but then i got this
CHARGING
on off on off on off
the off took 1-5 seconds and the charging led, tone and animation only appeared for a second and then went off.
it wasnt the charger, nor the cable. it was the micro usb port, no idea why because I didn`t drop it etc
a micro usb port replacement part costs only 15 bucks but unfortunately I don`t have the equipment and knowledge for repairing electrinical parts
so I had to fu**ing replace the whole motherboard which is very expensive even if you do it yourself!!! now it works ut I will never repair my z2 again. I bought it for 400$ and since buying it I spent 300$ on repairing it. if you wouldn`t have done that myself I would had spent 700$ usd for repairing it at our local phone shop.
Just cleared Smart connect app data and charged it with the default charger (14% to 100%) it charged without any problem

Redmi Note 4 SD stops charging sometimes at 72-73%, is it a calibration problem?

Hello,
So it's been two days I got my RN4 from FlipKart. It's loaded win MIUI 8 ver 8.2.5.0.
I plug in the charger, the notification led turns green at 73% and the battery indicator sticks there. Battery temp goes about 46° :fingers-crossed:: .
Have to unplug an re-plug again to start charging, then no issues with reaching 100%.
Many people are complaining that their phone stops charging at a certain percentage "after a update".
My question is - is it really a "after a update" calibration problem? Will it be solved with MIUI next updates? Or by installing custom ROM? Meanwhile, I'm still covered with FlipKart 10 days return policy, but still won't do it until it is confirmed that it is hardware problem, as their return process is very tedious.
Thanks!
Yes I faced the issue of charging stuck at 72% but only a couple of times not always.
In period of 20 days it happened 2-3 times then I switched to custom ROM and never faced the issue again.
I don't think it is a hardware problem.
Input from other users also may help you to decide further action.
hey, did u manage to work this out? my device is charging extremely slowly and before it also got stuck on 67 percent.

Will update you soon, just have done a factory reset and will again charge when battery goes about 20-30% level.
I will try to put it backside up so as to generate lesser heat. Maybe that will help.
For faster charging don't use it while charging, it easily goes 2000 mA in idle state. [Checked with AccuBattery]
I think I fixed mine. I updated to the dev rom (there is a trick to doing it without unlocking the bootloader) and am currently on the Nougat version. Now it charges at a good rate and I get a full charge in under 3 hours.
The backside up thing works, the kernel cuts amperage based on the temp of the battery and this phone is very finnicky to heat. Also if you want to drain the battery faster, try the battery waster app on Play Store. It starts all the phone sensors and can even leave the flash on if you want, letting u drain it in 6-8 hours.

Try to charge below 50% from current battery level.my stock charger rating 5V 2.5A..can get around 2.2A reading from app.
Its starts slower then it gets faster , from 10% to 100 % in under 2h , so its working properly.

You guys don't use the search function on the thread and just keep on making new threads about the same issue.
It has been well documented now that the charging slows due to thermal throttling. The hotter the phone the slower the charging. If anyone wants to test this, charge your phone for 5 mins before an air conditioner and measure the charging speed using the app called 'Amps'.
You should see the charging speed at around 2700-2800mah provided your phone temperature is quite low.
Otherwise, take a chilled watter bottle from your fridge and pour it generously on a towel. Now place your phone on that towel and charge you phone. As soon as the temperature starts falling to around 32-34 degree celsius, the charging speed will increase.
This is built in safety feature. The charging slows when the battery temperature is around 36-37 degree celsius as per my observations.
Cool you battery to around 30 degrees using any method you can and then check the charging speed.
Not your charger, not your cable...its mostly the charging algorithm with built in thermal thresholds which is at play here.
DO TELL ME YOUR TEST RESULTS.
I just found this thread - I have similar problem but it's rather not connected with temperature.
After one of software updates I discovered that quick charge is not working. Maybe it wasn't connected with update but this is how I see this.
I was waiting for software updates and hoping that they will fix my problem but nothing was changing.
Recently I decided that maybe factory reset will help, but unfortunately no.
After this reset I was checking many chargers and it appeared that with laptop charger (with USB C output) quick charge works! I was checking parameters in application 'ampere' and there is information that this charger is AC, and rest is USB. So it looks like QC works but....
Please help, how can I make quick charge works again via standard quick charge charger.

Iam in 11.0.5.0 global rom can any body confirm if its a rom issue or my specific issue
I want to clarify that my Poco on fully stock 11.05 charges as fast as any previous version of MIUI.
I take care of my battery. Charge till 80 and never let or go below 20.
If you can maintain the variables, and it still charges slow then you have issues with battery IC or the battery itself.
The highest I got without ceiling fan and without ac is 1590 mA. Maybe I got higher other times but I installed the app just for this post.
Don't rely on software reporting.
Do you have a multimeter?
Ambient temperature plays a HUGE role when it comes to battery, even if it's 1 degree more or less.
