S9+ 965F with dual sim like 965FZ - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hey guys.
Quick question, can a 965F model of the S9+ be turned into a dual sim by changing the SIM tray to a 965FZ?
My question here is if the sim tray is the only hardware difference, or if the 965FZ is specifically built with hardware differences to be able to read 2 SIM cards as opposed to 1 Sim/1 SD
This said I would also like to know if there are software differences and what would I need to flash in order for
It to work, in case it’s only a tray difference.

Help with options after brick

I recently soft bricked my phone. I cannot get the software running to fix this issue, therefor I am giving up. I have a couple of questions.
1) Could I put my 2 year contract sim card into an unlocked phone and run it?(just reassuring, as I don't want to buy something and not be able to use it)
2) If so, do adapters for micro sim to sim exist, or can I buy a micro sim phone?
**NOTE** I apologize if anything in this question is confusing, or downright obvious, as I am kind of disgruntled for various reasons.

1) Yes.
2) I don't know, but if you ask to your operator they will change your Micro SIM to a SIM..
Have you tried to find help with restoring the software on your soft bricked phone? As long as the stock firmware is available, and just soft bricked, it should be resolvable. But as far as using your card in another phone - depends on your carrier. If it is a GSM carrier, then there should not be an issue using it in an unlocked phone. It would behoove you to make sure that the unlocked phone has compatible hardware to take advantage of your carrier's network. Not all phones support 3g/4g/LTE on all networks, whether they are unlocked or not. They do also make adapters and SIM card cutters to adapt the SIM to various phones, however, it is recommended to just get the correct SIM from your carrier to avoid issues. Some phones are finicky if the SIM is not cut or adapted exactly right.

Single SIM card tray size

I recently bought the Huawei p20 pro (L09 single sim phone). I need to buy a new SIM tray for cosmetic purposes as the one I have is quite badly scratched. Would the dual SIM card tray fit and work just for use of my one SIM card? Struggling to find a single SIM tray online to replace it.
Thanks.

I cant think of a reason why the dual one wouldnt work. Just put 1 sim card on the spot that is placed on the single sim tray
Yes... I have a dual tray in my L09 w no problems
Edit: my bad, didn't realize how old this thread was.

I don't know what he is asking but I know a hardware hack to get dual SIM and SD at the same time. Pretty interesting

i believe he is talking about the phones with dual trays such as the S9. All of the phones with dual trays built into the chassis are physically able to accept a dual sim tray, just not all mobos have been set up to utilize a dual sim setup. The G960F and G960FD are the same phone, the D just stand for dual sim. AFAIK, nobody has done a tear down on a FD vs a F to determine if any hardware differences exist. Completely unrelated side note, its really hard to type when a kitty is pressing its head against your hands LOL!!

Lol. I believe the s8 models f and fd are compatible. Just needs the firmware and a IMEI tweak. I'm pretty sure the hardware is there. I'm actually been looking I to it on my 9650 as it has the hybrid tray. Im pretty sure it works. Just no IMEI attached to slot 2. I see guys somehow slapped slot one Imei onto slot 2 so just matching IMEI on both slots.

see, now would that fall under imei cloning? Is it problematic to "clone" your own IMEI within the very same device? If its all good, then id like to see it discussed a lot more. Im going to Romania in a few months and would love to have FD working on my G960U. I thought you had a 9550 not a 9650

Imo it wouldn't since it's same device same IMEI. Only issue is the s8 and up IMEI are written with cert files. So you would need more than likely a paid service.
Maybe this would work? Would make me a little nervous about waterproofing TBH but kind of a neat technical concept: https://www.simore.com/en/mobile-phone-accessories/samsung/galaxy-s9/
You might need something like this to make it work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xposed-unlock-dual-sims-sdcard-on-s9-s9.3888952/

Tab s7+ wifi with sim slot and sim connectors.

I just bought tab s7+ wifi (T970). While i was trying to insert microsd card into the tray i realized it also has space to insert sim card in it. First i thought it might just be it so that Samsung doesn't have to make another tray for wifi models. Then i saw sim connectors inside the slot. I tried searching it online, what other people had to say. Most of the people said that there is no modem for it,some said it might be a software limitation. As far as i know the snapdragon 865+ has an inbuilt 4g modem. If there is no modem in it, then why add connectors for it on the first place.
It would be great if anyone with a rooted device can try flashing firmware from carrier,or just check if it was possible to get sim working.
My T870 has the same thing. Instead of producing two different trays, Samsung put a blank where the SIM would go on the WiFi only models (T870 and T970). Just because you can pull that blank out and insert a SIM card doesn't mean it will work in your T970.
You can try of course, but it won't work. Nor will it likely hurt anything.
Yes, the Snapdragon 865+ has a built in 4G modem, but unless it is enabled in the firmware, it won't work. By firmware, I am not talking ROM/OS level. I am talking chip level firmware.
And even then I'd assume there are no 4g antennas in the WiFi model!
This has been discussed before.
The SIM tray is simply plugged with a blank on WiFi only units.
The SIM/SD Card slot is there (most likely to keep parts and manufacturing costs down), but it lacks a 4G modem and does not have any cell antennas.

Question Limited sim manager in verizon?

I currently have dual Sims running on my s23 ultra. Both Sims are from Verizon. Phone is unlocked and originally purchased from Google fi.
However, I am unable to designate one sim for data and one sim for calls only in sim manager. There is only an option to designate a primary sim.
Does anyone have any idea if there is a command to unlock all the features in sim manager? I tried searching, but have been unable to find anything.
This is a feature that Samsung doesn't offer. You have to choose a default SIM for both and then tap the indicators in the OS to swap between them. Like if you're making a call, both SIM names will show up at the bottom of the screen and you can tap which to use. When sending a message, you'll see towards the right of the text box there will be a number 1 or 2 in a SIM card. You tap that to switch between them. You can set custom labels and SIM icons/colors to help differentiate them further.
It hasn't been a big deal unless I need to download or send an MMS on the line that's not set as the default and I also appreciate that Samsung adds an option to set a specific ringer for the second SIM - allows me to just silence my data SIM.
I'm from South Africa and I use 2 physical sims on my phone. It gives me the options to decide which phone to use for calls/messages/data as per your screen shot. I see you have on e-sim and one physical sim. Maybe that is the reason you don't get the options I have. I have my primary sim for calls and messages and sim 2 for data setup. When configured it also gives you the options in the drop down menu to change on the fly without going into the settings menu
I definitely agree that the North American dual-SIM (pSIM + eSIM) options are lacking. Unlike the dual-pSIM model, pSIM + eSIM in North American models are DSDS (dual-SIM dual standby) instead of DSDA (dual-SIM dual active).

No. There is no DSDA package in the U/U1/W firmware.

I would be happy to be wrong. If there is some way to get that DSDA and whatever else is needed for Dual Active. I would be happy to try. Do you have a link to the s22 Ultra thread so I can look at what they did?

Definitely going to look into trying that over the weekend. Unfortunately, I have two flights to catch today so I won't be near either of my desktops until tomorrow at the earliest.

The last post in that thread seems to imply it was fixed/patched with OneUI 5. s23 Ultra users don't have the ability to roll back to Android 12
I must have missed that in the thread, that's unfortunate. Hopefully we will have a work around in the near future. Appreciate the info!
I also have this problem and hope it can be solved.
it's a little annoy because I have a sim for data and another sim for call and message.
I prefer to have my devices ask which SIM for every call. Depending on the country I am in, would determine the SIM I want to set for data.

I disagree, because i had 2 sims in my samsung Phone and it let me put from which shall be for data and which is for calls, sms/mms. So Samsung does have it, unless they removed it.

Apparently international variants have it, which I wasn't aware of, but US variants do not. This is a stupid thing for Samsung to do and I hope they fix it at some point.
I am using a s918b version. If I flash EUX Home_CSC , I will have option to select which sim for call, sms, data, and the data switch option as well. However, if I flash XAC (Canada)home_csc, then I only have one option to select which sim to be the primary sim. So I dont know, if it's a CSC related feature or not.
So If my device havevthe csc code with xaa, I can reflash with the csc which provide the dual sim manager?
