Help to revive my dear Razr MAXX with a newer version of Android - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi,
I deeply apologize if I ask a question already asked a million times...
Presentation:
I own a XT910 razr MAXX since 6-7 years, today I choose to change my peaceful way. I have brough a Samsung galaxy A3. If I manage to get a newer OS running properly on my XT910 I give the A3 to my girlfriend and happily keep my RAZR, otherwise, I keep the Samsung and buy a second one for my GF...
I'm use to advanced linux uses, but I have to say I'm a complete noob for smartphone rooting/hacking...
A few weeks ago, I decided to upgrade my Razr MAXX from stock android 4.1.2 (last released by motorola). It's getting a pain to use, lag all the time.
I'm quite lost. Should I try to flash a stock ROM, maybe mine got corrupted, leading the phone to get laggy Even after restoration ? The only threads I found on this solution are dead since 2012... Often with no longer available files.
Or should I give a try to lineageOS. If so, what will I get working (wifi, camera...) ? Does someone have his XT910 running with lineageOS 14.1 ?
Again, I apologize to those who will find my question dumb ("Dude, how did you missed this thread explaining everything you ask for"). I just don't know where to begin, and most of all: which solution can't be undone (ie, if I flash lineageOS 14.1 and would like to get back to stock ROM, can I?).
A great thanks to anyone for any help. My razr is 7 years old, but still fit my needs (awesome autonomy OO).
Regards
Tristan

Getting the correct firmware to flash on a XT910 can be a little tricky.
Which carrier and country was it.

I bought it unlocked, I don't think there has been any carrier associated anytime.
I'm in France.
Current system image is 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU
Android 4.1.2
Build 9.8.2O-124_SPUEM-14 (Feb 28 01:16:58 CST 2013)
I've seen there are two different RAZR devices: spyder and umts_spyder. I don't know which one I have and how to identify it :/.
Thanks

About reflashing stock image
I had found this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192532
But I think what it was intended for was to get GB before it was officially released, as it is said:
To apply the JB OTA you have to be on 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU without any Modifications

I take it you are unable to root device with build number 10? My understanding is that builds 8 and up are unable to root as Sony blocked Djrbliss root method. I know Nesquick95 emailed asking for assistance in rooting unrootable builds. As of now there is not a way to downgrade your build. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Right, it seems to be actually no way for rooting the #10 kernel. This is a hard thing to do, even harder for our well-protected tablet.
I don't expect that much of my mail to M. Rosenberg. He's a busy man and has no obvious reason for spending time on that rooting work except (maybe) the challenging one.
We will probably have to wait until ICS arrives on the Tablet S... There will be much more users and devs involved in ICS rooting process than in tablet-specific Honeycomb.
thank u guys
I am also interested in it
I bought a tablet from china..It doesn't have even Android market..Now i am using 3 party downloaders..But my version is 10. So I cannot root also...
yeah i didnt do all my research before the rooting and i kept wondering why the exploit wouldnt work. finally looked alittle more into it and realized i have build 9 -facepalm-
So i just bought my tablet yesterday and i didnt update it. well i updated everything just now and now i have build 10! i remember reading on the djrbliss forum about build 10 downgrading somehow so ill look into it alittle more and keep you guys posted.
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:22 PM ----------
omg mine downgraded also! i installed my final update and i checked the kernal....it went back to build 5 #1 so here goes nothing!
well..you're the third that had this...maybe sony rolled out a background downgrade for some unknown reason??? but why...

[Q] Motorola XT919/XT920 KitKat 4.4.2 update - extract ROM

Hello everyone, I'm kind of new here so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong thread or something... so anyways,
Motorola has released KitKat 4.4.2 update for Motorola RAZR D3 (and also for RAZR D1 but I'm not specifically talking about that device) and only about 4 people has received the update. We've been waiting for one year and a half to get this update and Motorola says they're releasing it "through blocks" (which means they're going to release it for everyone in like 2 years now lol). So the only ones who received the update are XT920 devices (which are the double SIM versions).
We want to extract the KitKat ROM from those devices who already updated and so we could install it in our devices. In our community, we've tried so many apps, so many ways to extract it but we can't. One of the Kitkat users did a backup which is name userdata_*****(numbers)_*****(numbers).backup. We've tried to extract that +600mb file so we could get those .img files to flash our devices. We couldn't. There's no way found to extract a .backup file. We don't either know if that's gonna work though.
So, could anybody help us? We have been waiting for so long for this update. Or at least we wanted to extract the retail he's got, because ours won't receive the update.
What could we do?
Phone model: Motorola RAZR D3 - XT919/XT920
Retail Brazil.
Locked Bootloader.
MediaTek MTK6577
If you need another info. I'll try my best to get it.
PS: I'm not the one who received the update. The one who did is a member of a community on Facebook.
We really need help. Thank you so much.
By the way, this user got to root the device on KitKat 4.4.2 through KingsRoot

new firmware for padfone X/S 12.2.2.41 (android 5.1 ?)

you can check here, this is the latest firmware, on asus global server
from 15th december 2015.
you can install with new install with twrp or other...
I haven't updated that yet, but according from their own forums it is still 5.0.
It has better memory management ( I believe they updated the memory management tool from boost master to house keeper)
--- that used to be from the zenfone 2 series but now its on the padfone now. (Looks like a step closer to MM)
Gps is able to lock even quicker than before.
Sound quality is also better.
I will update it pretty soon, want to see some problems that arise from this update.
Can't wait for M on this device, but hopefully asus could continue support for this device for the next version of android as Im hoping to have vulcan support on this baby. (Its either that or Cm 14 when it comes out)
Edit:
Just updated this device, supersu was lost but reflashed supersu and works fine.
Performance seems pretty great (not noticing a difference), and memory management is just a bit better.

Doubt it'll be updated past MM. ASUS already mentioned that a Padfone S2 will be coming out sometime in 2016.

Agreed, I think the only reason we are seeing an update this late its product cycle is because they haven't released this new one yet.

hello, my name's Andy.

If not too much trouble, could anyone please look at it. Thank you very much...

No RAZR 2022

I can't be the only owner of the New RAZR 2022 Chinese version can I?
Didn't do my homework android auto is not baked in the Chinese rom so can't use it and I rely on it. So I unlocked bootloader and flashed magisk and installed AA as system app, will test in the morning. Really good phone had flip 3 before so wanted something different hoping there will be away to global rom when it's released. I flashed magisk boot.img to slot b anyone know if that's right? Thanks

Hey mate,
Thanks heaps for starting this convo.
I have the CN version of the Razr 2022 as well, and pretty keen to move to the Global ROM, cause there's just a few weird things happening/that don't quite work.
I notice the ROM you've flashed is for the x30 Pro and Edge, not the Razr specifically.
Does that make a difference?
No I didn't flash that rom and if you do say goodbye to your device.
You need to flash oneli rom choose here I only followed the guide on how to, know one would flash a ROM from a different device would they?

Glad to see I'm not the only early adopter with some regrets and looking for a way out of the LeCloud only madness. To james1089 and anyone else who has successfully flashed their Razr 2022 CN version phone, would be very grateful if you offer answers to the following questions:
1. Does Google apps sync (contacts calendar sms etc), backup & restore, work after flashing EU ROM?
2. Are you able to continue using a chinese carrier sim on the newly flashed EU ROM?
3. Looking at the oneli folder of the firmware link james1089 so kindly shared;
3a. does the RETAIL firmware the stock chinese one?
3b. any advice on the difference between RETEU and TELEU?
3c. any idea what the OPENMX one is?
Thanks in advance for sharing and spreading the knowledge.

Everything works just like it's an EU phone can't say if Chinese SIM will work although I'd be surprised if it doesn't. Contact sync can work on Chinese ROM also using an older Google contacts APK. Not sure what the other ROMs are but EU comes with no bloat what so ever just like a pixel phone.
Just wanted to say thanks to @james1089. I installed EU rom on my razr and I've never been so thankful for notifications. Everything seems to be working so far. The only thing is Netflix, but I don't use it much on the phone anyway. Anyway thanks again .
For those of you guys that are trying to install global rom, just follow what james1089 did. The only issue I ran across was unlocking bootloader and getting android SDK. Just YouTube it and then follow the rest of the guide as it.
