Can't hurt to ask!
I should say that the space grey has a lot of brown in it. Looks rather slick. Still, I want to skin the back of it so that dust and grit don't scratch the back while it's in it's case.

Using Speedtest by Ookla, there does seem to be a difference but not an amount that I care about.
I ran with BT and without 5x each. Changed to another local server and ran another set of 5 each.
With BT off, I get 220ish Mb down / 12.2 up and a ping should at 9ms.
With BT on, I get 195 to 205 down / 12 up. Ping improved to 7ms.

No, I just had BT turned on during the BT tests. I should be able to stream directly to my receiver. I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back soon

I'm getting about 80Mb down with BT off and 60Mb with it on connected and streaming stays at about 60Mb

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the stock firmware or image for the US spec version (C567)?

Sadly I don't have an iControlPad, it'll definitely work though.
I might have missed it, and it's pretty basic to begin with, but did you ever put a micro SDHC card in and access files from it? From your experiences, any recommendations on class, etc?
Its confirmed working with sdhc AND sdxc. Class 4 is best for general use as it has highest ram. Class 10 is best for video capture and playback as it has faster sequential read/write speeds
This message will self-destruct in 30 seconds.

Class 10 isn't particularly better for video capture/playback, to be perfectly honest. Unless your video bitrate is extremely high a Class 4 will be perfectly sufficient to play it back without any issues. A Class 10 won't do it any better, it'll just have more wasted overhead while it does it. Otherwise sound advice, no particular reason to go to the highest class available.
For myself I like my 64GB micro SDXC card

I got mine direct from Sandisk when they came out (I live in NZ, used Shipito to get it sent here - guide for using Shipito on my blog if you're outside the US). They must be available elsewhere by now too, but I'd make sure you're buying from somewhere reputable if you're not buying direct from Sandisk - these are one of the most faked electronics out there!

If you like gaming I'd definitely say this is the best tablet out. For the rest of the tasks it gets the job done too. It's tough too - I've dropped mine from waist height twice without any damage - not to say you should give it a try... There isn't a tablet out there that I'd rather have, and that's saying a lot cause usually these things become outdated within months or even weeks of release!
Fellow arc owner here, and and I say go for it. Very happy with my 16gb S but do note that only about half that storage is available to you. Not a problem if you plan on using a decent size sd card though.

Hi,
I got a 32Gb a week after it was released in the UK. Am very pleased with it so far. I suppose it's just a case of knowing that you aren't going to be able to do anything all that different with it, other than the things you can already do with a laptop. It's for emails / surfing / social networking and the bits and bobs you can already do with an Android phone.
The overall size is very good and the screen is crystal clear. The speakers are disappointing. I found installing ASWLauncher EX was a big bonus - speeds up the UI and gives you room for more apps in a dock along the bottom of your 5 screens.
I've put a 32Gb full size SD card in the slot, and am using MX Video Player app to play movies from it, and PowerAmp to play mp3s from it.
I'd highly recommend getting the dock, as it means less use of the power cable, which feels a bit flimsy and gives you the impression that it could easily be broken. It also turns the tab into a nice picture-frame!
For transferring files to and from the tablet, I'd recommend FTPServer on the tablet (https://market.android.com/details?id=lutey.FTPServer&hl=en), and Filezilla on a pc/laptop. This removes the need to constantly put a cable in the side of the device, as the transfers are done wirelessly.
I haven't scratched the screen in all the time I've had it, and don't think it would scratch without some serious force.
... Just some of my views! Hope that helps.

Happy to be of help! Was really pleased when this worked - use it on my galaxy s too.
Can't say much more that hasn't already been said here, but this.
I love this machine, been downloading free ps-games from ps store, I've been downloading free movies from video unlimited. I have bought an SDXC 128GB card and formated it in FAT32 and put it into the machine. Works wonderful.
If the ps store force closes? clear cache and data and it would work again.
Got the usb-adapter cable today. it works fine with normal usb-memories. Have not tried it with my ps3-controller yet, since I'm not home.
Have not tried 720p/1080p movies on it yet, but I see no point in why. since the screen is "only" 1280*800. xvid/divx works beautiful and takes up little space.
Ok so the gfx isn't perfect on them ps-games, but what did you expect from games that old. Besides, I play games because they are enjoyable, not because they look good
just my two cents
don't forget emulation works perfectly too (not just the PSN store games, which BTW are emulated anyway). So you have almost the entire PSX/SNES/megadrive/neogeo/N64 library potentially available, together with wireless controllers working out of the box.
FWIW, for video decoding, I've found using apple tv presets works perfectly, and preserves 720p
Is worlds scariest police chases on emulator?
100% agreed, I love mine.

I recommend that you get the 32gb version. You might be disappointed at the meagre amount of free storage on the 16gb. Plus, you cant use the SD slot to expand memory, it only transfers files

Agree, SD-card is cheaper. I got the 16Gb and got the cradle, extra AC and LCD-protection instead of 32GB version, then I bought the 128GB SDXC and formated it in FAT32 and put it into the tablet

I registered my tablet at sony.com, I got "vouchers" on email that I could use on https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/login.action then I loged on to "video unlimited" and found the free movies in there.
The movies comes in .MNV said to be played on PS3 and PSP only. But MX Video Player can play them.

[Q] Slingplayer for Tablet

Has anyone tried out the slingplayer for tablet app? The cracked one I had for my phone doesn't work on the tablet. I'm debating on shelling out the 30 bucks for the tablet version, but it's had some mixed reviews on the Android Market.
I've been using it without any issues so far.
I originally thought I had an issue because it would only show standard quality, and wouldn't go to high quality at all. But I found out my router dropped the port forwarding for some reason. Once that was corrected the HQ showed back up on first reconnect and all is good.

Are you running ICS? Which slingbox are you using?
I have the Dish Remote Access tablet app for streaming live TV and DVR content and it works great. One of the perks of being a dish customer I guess... I got the SlingBox for free and the app is free.
I have a Slingbox Solo. Some people on android market said it didn't work with certain models or firmware on certain models. Some also complained that it didn't work on ICS.
I just can't believe they charge 30 bucks for that app and if you want it on your phone, that's another 30 bucks. I know you can't use the web plugin on the Prime... also lame. However, I guess it's working for them because I'm still planning on getting it. One of the key reasons I bought a tablet to begin with.
I use the dish version and it works good

Im using the Slingplayer for phones app on my Prime running ICS and haven't had any problems with it. I originally paid 30 bucks for it back on my EVO 4G and have used it on every device since then. It installs automatically as soon as I log in with my google account. Hell I didnt even know there was a Tablet version.

I'm on ICS, and I've got the Slingbox Pro-HD.
Used the phone version for a few days, then switched to the tablet version. Only downside, is they overcharge for the app by at least 20 bucks.
The version I have for the phone doesn't even work on the tablet. It installs, but it won't launch. Granted it is an older version that was cracked... I was still surprised it doesn't work at all.
Oh well... looks like I will probably pay for the tablet version. Thanks for the input everyone!

The tablet version is supposed to have some HD functionality on it that the phone version doesn't have. Some of the reviews say it was way better picture quality than using the phone version on the tablet.

I purchased the Slingbox client, it "does" have the HQ feature. It also works on ICS.
Decided to purchase it last night. Picture is good on the Prime with ICS. It lacks the quick controls for the DVR like the phone app. Hopefully, they will improve the UI a bit.

Hello. I've got a Slingbox that won't stream HQ in the Android App, just like you.
I've checked my port forwarding and everything looks in order. How do you know that the Forwarding has been dropped and how did you fix it?

Poll: 16GB, 32GB, or wait for something better later?

I'm tempted to buy the 16GB...but really prefering the one with cellular on it.
I think I maybe doing a lot of recording. Some told me not to get the 16GB since there is no ext SD on this so I must get 32GB. I don't know a $100 more for 16GB?
I wonder if we can get by the lack of space issue just by using Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft Skydrive on the 16GB?
Which version are you going to get?
16GB, 32GB, wait for something more later?
PS:
Are apps on tablet much bigger size than phone version? Or they are the same exact size?
What are some of you guys reasons for needing the 32GB?
16GB. I used to have a 8GB Nexus 7, which worked fine up until Google's mass 5-day sale a little while back. I only have enough money currently for a 16GB Nexus 10, and I think 16GB should do fine. Chances are I'll end up wiping the tablet before I even use the full storage anyway

Nexus 7 only has 1.9MB camera...so that maybe why you don't fill it much? I think once we have Front and Back camera recording at 1080p, I'm worry 16GB may fill up fast for me
I ordered the 16GB... the 32 isn't worth the extra $100 considering I can use my portable 1TB hard drive ($79) and an OTG cable ($3) and get a better deal. Is 4G really necessary? Most of use already have 4G phones and chances are that since you're on these forums you're rooted and have the ability to tether for free.
Here's the hard drive I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136996
You don't need external power to use it... It's like a bigger thumb drive which at 2.5" isn't very big at all.

Whenever I tether via CM10 Android AP, it drained phone battery fast. By the time I get to the final destination, phone already low on batt and can barely use phone for anything else. So I was thinking had I have a tablet that has cellular, I can just swap in the sim to the tablet to handle gps navigation while on trip and when I get near the place, i just put the sim back in to the phone so I can use it right away without low battery issue.

Yea, it seems $100 more is waste for me also.
Thanks for mentioning of OTG cable. Based on your response and googling, OTG is some cable (like this http://www.amazon.com/T-Flash-Adapt...=1353034131&sr=1-2&keywords=microusb+otg)that I can hook up between the tablet and external drive to expand the tablet's drive capacity right?

I may be wrong, but i believe the only time your maps would need an internet connection is when you're first creating the route and if you need to reroute. So you could just tether until you have your route made on your tablet and then turn it off. Maps should preload everything needed. Couldn't you just plug in the phone?

Yea, I guess I can do that...it might be a little inconvenience stopping the car and turn it on tethering so I can get my navigation to handle detour.
Thanks for the tip. I think I will ordered the 16GB as your solution would work for my concern on diskspace and battery draining.
I'm going to enable Google Maps Offline feature on there and download all the maps it allowed me. I'll put Sygic on there as backup to handle situation where Google maps is not available in Yellowstone Park deadspot area.

I ordered a 16GB from Google Store yesterday although I wanted a 32GB. I found the pre order sale at Staples and ordered a 32GB from them this morning. I know it won't arrive until Christmas. I was thinking of returning the 16GB within its return period but Google will refund only to Google Wallet account and I don't know if I can ever use the balance in Google wallet. I guess I screwed myself. Anyone in my situation???
I would rather have the built-in memory. I got the 32GB model ... I wish they offered a 64GB.

My 16 GB came in yesterday, yea 32 would've been nice but for $100 I don't need it. My S3 has all the music I need on it and I've got no problems moving videos back and forth if I need em.
$100 at this point really is steep for me, for something I really have no need of..16gb is already a luxury for me. I do prefer the 32gb that's for sure but I don't think I can justify it. I may just wait till the price drops. I am not even sure if ill like the bigger model. I love the 7 because of its size. Its perfect.

Yea, I prefer 32GB too until someone suggested the OTG cable as mitigation to me plus I'm not sure I need the full size either. I can't wait for another 4 months to see some new stuff at CES 2013 and this poll shows there are many 16GB users so I don't feel so bad and join the bandwagon to buy the 16GB. Even though the 32GB was sold out first, but this poll shows there are more 16GB users...so maybe Google had fewer 32GB in inventories than 16GB to start with. The 32GB ppl will probably have to wait a little longer?

New chromecast value over old

Curious if any one with the 2015 chromecast can speak to the advantages over the old for stability.
My old chromecast works fine for most things, but crashes after about 40-50photos in a Photos slideshow. It also chugs a lot playing some chromecast games (e.g. Game of Life Big Screen Edition).
Any one know if these are a factor of the Chromecast or the phone broadcasting to it? I'm tempted to upgrade during the $20 promotional credit, but don't want to waste $15 if it's for a lateral move.
I have a modem with WiFi AC with 3 antennas, and definitely the new Chromecast is much faster in streaming for me,specially with youtube and Plex.
I still own both, but to be honest I don't see a huge difference, altought I bought the 2015 Chromecast to improve my signal as my modem is pretty far.
Bottom of the line for my point of view, unless you have a new generation modem, you won't see a huge change in performance.

The Chromecast 2015 has 5Ghz even if you don't have a router with AC it still is kinda a improvement since it's higher speed and less interference then the 2.4Ghz the Chromecast 2013 works on. (Only less range)

That is true.
Conclusion:
If you never have had any network problem with old chromecast it is really pointless to replace with new one.

In my Opionion. The Chromecast 2 ist the best Streaming Stick so far. I had the FireTV Stick, Chromecast 1 and the ROKU HDMI Stick.
subjective Benefits:
- sharper, more detailed picture
- faster streaming, much faster buffering
- 5 Ghz ac
- 50Hz TV Support for Europe ( much less micro stuttering)
I enjoy the new Chromecast. and I hope Eureka bring us soon a custom rom with root.
Well, with the sale, $20 credit, and free movie offer.. I spent the $5 net and upgraded. I have to say, I'm confused as to all the "it's not a noticeable upgrade" comments from all the reviews.
We've definitely noticed the difference in both the wifi experience and the processor. The picture itself, not so much.
Also, my wife and I were trying to play the game of life big screen edition on the old Chromecast. All stutter and crashes. On the new one is smooth as silk, so if you're up for trying these new games finally coming out for Chromecast the upgrade is even more worth it.

Which one, the $5 off was just a sale at Best Buy (but it's currently available from the play store too.) The $20 credit is an offer that shows up in the Chromecast a day or three after you activate it. The free movie shows up right away.
These are all US offers for me, not sure if they're international, but I think from your profile that you're in the US.
