What is a LogCat?
A "LogCat" is for debugging applications / Android system. When applications / Android crash the output the "explanation" for the crash, the Exception Stacktrace, to a Log. This log can be saved and help developers to fix the crash.
What is it supposed to do?
It will help to solve your questions, if your asked for a LogCat it is always useful.
How can I get a LogCat?
Prerequisites:
Code:
Linux, Windows or Mac
USB cable for your device
Android Device
Instructions:
Code:
Install your device driver for using adb. Everything you need will you find here
Download adb executable for your OS (Download: Windows | Linux | Mac). Paste it somewhere.
Connect your android device.
Verify if "Settings > Developer options > USB debugging" is checked, if not, simply check it.
Open a command prompt (windows) or terminal (linux / mac). How to do it: On Windows: windows + r > enter "cmd" (without quotes) > click enter | On Linux: You don't know how to open a terminal? LOL | On Mac: Type Terminal into Spotlight and open it
CD to the directory where the adb executable is located. On Windows: Go to the directory where you downloaded the adb executable, Shift+Right Click and select "Open Console" (or similar) | On Linux / Mac: Rightclick in the directory and select "Open Terminal here" (or simply CD into the directory)
Type in your cmd/terminal: adb devices to verify your device is properly connected.
If your device is properly selected, type in adb logcat to show the mighty and magic logcat aka stacktrace.
Reproduce your error (or whatever) on your device.
Right after, paste the whole cmd / terminal window into a paste-service like [url]http://pastebin.com/[/url] and send it to us.

Is there any other way to map the hardware buttons without apps or xpossed and the rom settings dont have a lot of options so maybe somehow trough a root browser plz answer somebody

Hi. My device is K50a40. I installed this ROM, it went successfully. However, when I reboot it gets stuck. It shows the "Lenovo" logo and doesn't even go to the OS' boot loader. Should I rebrand this? Is it not for this device? Please help me. I tried dozens of ROMs, none worked.

Thanks. I flashed this stock firmware:
K50a40_S433_160909_ROW
But when I try to boot for the first time it says "Initializing" and then "Coming Soon" and turns off. Is this the correct firmware? Could you please send me a link to the compatible stock firmware?
PS: I tried to get around it by installing TWRP after it says "Coming soon" and flashing the ROM but it didn't work either. I think maybe that ROM is not the right version for my device.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I installed the following ROMs. All of them get stuck on the "Lenovo" logo after I flash and reboot and never load.
Resurrection Remix Oreo_v6.0.0(DM).zip
AIM-System-V2.5-20180608-OFFICIAL-aio_otfp-FINAL.zip
DOT-N-v1.2-20180609-aio_otfp-UNOFFICIAL.zip
NitrogenOS_Oreo(DM)v4.zip
omni-8.1.0-20180518-aio_otfp-HOMEMADE.zip
OMNI-8.1-AIO-ROW-BY-AKS12-Feb19-2018.zip
ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4-20160926-aio_otfp.zip
RR-N-v5.8.5-20170926-aio_otfp-FINAL.zip
The only ROM that kinda works is this one:
CARBON-CR-6.1-CONFIDENTIAL-UNOFFICIAL-aio_otfp-20171230-1522.zip
Maybe I'm using the wrong TWRP file. Could you please send me a link? Thanks.
but many of the features don't work on it. (such as bluetooth, etc.)
Maybe I've done something wrong.
I downloaded the file: K50a40_S433_160909_ROW.7z extracted it, ran this file:
K50a40_S433_160909_ROW\DRV_Tools\MTK_flashtool_v5.1536.00.000\flash_tool.exe
Then hit "scatter-loading" button and selected this file:
K50a40_S433_160909_ROW\SW\target_bin\MT6752_Android_scatter.txt
Checked everything and when finished, booted. Let it initialize, and boot. Then did the same with TWRP, boot to TWRP, selected "Wipe", "Factory Reset" and then flashed these ROMs.
If I missed something please let me know.
Thanks.

Does it pass safetynet?
My phone model is XT1676. Magisk does not work in this model. I tried to remove the magisk, but I couldn't uninstall it, but I could use the Lineagos plugin to disable it. I mean, the magisk doesn't work, it takes space to remove it, I want it removed from the system. Rum is beautiful. In some of my parts, Wi-Fi was not working because of the magisk. Magisk my old phone is still working even more smoothly at Zenfone 2. Does xposed have a problem with this system

First off, magisk is a part of the source, so I would prefer not messing with that and removing it. Second, magisk DOES NOT mess with WiFi at all. In any case, it can be easily removed by flashing magisk uninstall zip. What do you mean by it takes space to remove it? If you could be a little clearer on the issue I could help you better. As far as I can see, it could be resolved by just flashing magisk remover zip. Cheers!
Thanks for the ROM! Just installed and will be trying out over the next few days. So far it seems really zippy. Cheers!

No as magisk hide does not work with our kernel
The only way Iv found to pass safety net is to only use the lineageos su and then disable root in dev options
This will pass basic integrity which will allow most root checking apps to run
CTS-profile will be false as system has been modified - I got this to true by using xposed however you enter a catch 22 as xposed requires root & root will make basic integrity false
So unless you can hide root you will never get both to be true

The fingerprint registration only works while in the Setup Wizard. Unfortunately, this is a ROM bug and I can do nothing about it. As for magisk, after flashing uninstaller, did you try to flash cm-addonsu? I tested, and it works for me.

Nope, I can do that, but its part of the source, and I don't want to mess with what the developers had in mind. It's not intrusive to me, so I wonder why you have an issue with it. If it REALLY bugs you, you can make a personal build. As to the customizations, they're being added, and version 1.1 will be out soon. Cheers and have a nice day!

Thanks to @Moyster for the base device tree/kernel
thanks!
thanks
Very Thanks. We got a new ROM.
Hi, it's cool you posted a new rom for this device, but the way you mention me as a contributor and you link my own github to this thread is misleading.
Can you please rewrite first post, and credit me for my work, but not "link me" to this project by any sort ? The fact you ask for donations and associate me as a contributor is pretty misleading and I don't want _anyone_ to believe "contributing to dotOS" brings me anything / goes to my pocket.
It's also mandatory to post on Xda that you link your sources in your post. You're just linking to my github, which I am sure is not able to build on your project "as is". It would be nice and respectful for my work, to post _your own_ trees / kernel repo, because once again, the work I pulled on my github has nothing to do with this rom / project. This being said, good luck and have fun, may you contribute back.
@Moyster
First of all: I totally didn't want to be disrespectful in any way, this said, in order to publish dotos on XDA and get official maintenance you have to copy/paste their XDA template which includes the donations tab and all that s h i t. I thought of giving you enough credit by tagging you in the contributors section and by even linking to your github (thought doing something good but seems not).
I'm kinda new to the github environment so I totally don't know how to create a device tree/kernel and all the other stuff...
Again, I didn't want to be disrespectful in any way and if you don't want the link to your github sources I'll remove it but to me doesn't seem so bad.

Thank you very much for supporting the old SII in both updating the old and new versions together with the security patches, I have a doubt I have been testing many of the ROMS AOSP and CM in order to find some daily use also adding tweaks and kernels you have Any recommendations you have used? I do not want to stay in Sammy roms
the reason why I do not like nougat because there is no support in the kernel modified and I am playing a lot with the BLN, fast charge, different governors and ZRAM

Try DU MM v10.6 or Carbon ROM Nougat (it has 'ondemand' power management by default). I do not play much (actually only 2048), but they can meet your needs. Remember that CarbonROM is rootless and I think it has no way to enable it.

I flashed lachon kernel then lanchon twrp recovery by arnab then updated to latest twrp 3 and then repartitioned with lanchon repit and then wiped everything except internal external storage and then flashed DOT is and gapps

Are you using the pit configuration of 1.5gb system + 6gb data + 512mb preload or something like this? If you do not have or if it is your first installation of a custom rom, you will need it.
Now if it is not, search for error 70 by javix and problem solved!

I was flashing ARM 7.1 pico
Solved it !! Did a clean install.
I dont know what caused the error previously but last time when I was flashing, i wiped cache/dalvik after flashing the rom.
This time I did not wiped, installed the gapps immediately after the rom and it went smoothly.

I used lanchon repit tool to increase system size.
I dont know if wiping can cause any error or not. The error appeared when I wiped cache/dalvik after flashing the rom and then tried flashing gapps.
Repeated everything except the wiping before gapps inatallation error did not show up.
Any battery optimization in this rom? What is the battery timing with general GSM Calls/SMS usage? Any benchmark with WIFI? Appreciate your response. Thanks

Hi timematcher!
When I compile a ROM that it does not have for another device, I usually make the necessary modifications to compile and work well, and they are minimal (include classes, device trees etc). I do not make drastic changes since I'm a beginner in the backend world and in the android development world. Think it has some optimization done by the dotOS team.
Benchmark WiFi? Nope! But you can test on the speedtest website.
While the time of the battery, it is the same thing as Lineage (I do not know the time exact). For general use, between 4h / 4h20. Games: I not tested, because I'm not much fan. In standby mode the battery lasted 4 days. Remember that this can differ because it depends on the life util of battery.

Thanks for the detailed response. I was really looking to understand how long the battery lasts
on standby,
on an regular Call/SMS use and
on constant WIFI connectivity.
I was not asking for browsing or downloading speed on the phone but thanks for answering that as well.
I have i9100 on which I am using LOS 14.x microG. I am always looking forward to a light weight yet effective ROM that i can use as a daily driver.
Thanks for the good work. cheers.
New build is UP!
Info & download via OP.
Thank you for such a small and clean ROM! But, it's laggy. I can't move around interface without some lag. Especially ripple effect on touch. I hope you'll make ROM more resposnive without so much lag

If you are completely new to flashing custom ROMs and have no idea how to begin, start by downloading a TWRP image for your device from the link below and flash it using the ODIN tool (see Instructions below). You cannot flash a custom ROM over stock recovery, so downloading a custom recovery is the first thing you will need to do:

You will probably need to install GApps (Google Apps Suite) as well if you want access to Play Store, and other Google apps. There are two versions:
GApps: https://download.msm8916.com/OpenGApps/
or (recommended for lineage) :

Instructions
Installation via recovery (TWRP/LineageOS Recovery)
* Download a recent .zip file from the links above for your device.
* Reboot into recovery mode [Press Power+Volume Up+Home].
* Wipe your data and cache partition (equivalent to doing a Factory Reset)
if you are coming from a stock ROM.
* Either: Plug in your phone into your computer, copy the zip file to a location on your Internal or External Storage on a device, click Install on TWRP on your phone and locate the zip file in the phone, or:
* Plug in your phone into your computer, and open Advanced->ADB Sideload on TWRP on your phone and swipe the slider to enter sideload mode.
Then open a command prompt/terminal on your computer in the folder you put the file by Shift-Clicking (Shift+Right Click) and selecting "Open Command Prompt/Terminal Here" (you will need to have adb installed) and type:
adb sideload name_of_zip.zip
to sideload the file. Replace name_of_zip.zip with the name of the file. If you are running Linux you may need to type adb kill-server and use sudo adb sideload if you get an `Insufficient Permissions` error.
* Download and flash GApps in the same way.

Like many AOSP-based ROMs, camera works. Upon re-testing on it, video recording unfortunately crashes the camera (and the camera app), the same result when using the OpenCamera app. The workaround for video recording is to use another camera app like Footej and it will be fine.
I dunno about using camera with social media (i.e. Facebook, video chats, WhatsApp etc.), since I do NOT use them ever, and I don't have 'these' social media accounts anymore.
As for the WiFi, it generally works/connects as it should.

Depends on your usage, apps installed, modifications (system/kernel) and your battery age. Usually it takes 3 - 3½ hours (sometimes 4 hours) of screen-on-time on my usage (using a nearly 3 years old battery). Same with other ROMs I've used; be it on TW or AOSP.

Pls, Tell me How did you solve this problem. I have to flash the stock by using ODIN after that flash Dot OS?
I tried this rom. Very good, smoothly, and cleanly. But when I turn on mobile data on j500h l, it showed 2G, although I set 3G only. I restarted, wiped dalvik but nothing appear

Probably signal coverage or a misconfigured SIM. Only one SIM should have set as 3G and should be as data SIM; and the other SIM as 2G. My phone does have H+ (3G) working, if I'm in an open area, higher floor or an urban places.
