Moto 360 V2 won't open menu on button press, opens Assistant instead and then crashes - Moto 360 2015

It was previously just in a bootloop and didn't want to turn on the screen at all. Managed to somehow boot it up today and factory reset (AGAIN) and connected to my less used Google account just to be safe (less data to sync).
Previous problem I had is still there however. When I click the menu button even lightly (not holding down), it opens up Assistant. Voice commands haven't crashed the watch yet but if I click on Assistant settings or anything else, screen will turn black and it won't reboot. Only way to reboot it to place it on the charger and hold down the power button.
I also have a logcat from Bluetooth debugging. Log ends when watch shuts down after clicking anything on Assistant. Started logging right after startup and all I did was install some updates which took a while.
Nothing extraordinary at the bottom of the log stands out to me but I'm probably not as good as some of you at reading logs. There seems to be several errors occurring.

I did all the updates on Play Store (WearOS, Google etc) but problem still persists.
Any help is really appreciated.

[Q] Device Freezing / Dying?

Has anyone experienced their phone freezing/locking up? I'm not talking about lagging/freezing applications, but the whole phone actually locking up.
My phone seems to be freezing up about twice a week and has been for the last 3 weeks. Each time it has been when the device was in my pocket or on charge at night (and subsequently the alarm does not go off).
When the device is frozen like this, it has no indications of even having power. The power button will not turn the phone off, on, or wake the device. Plugging the phone into power doesn't even turn the orange/green charging lights on, nor play the tone for when power is connected.
I physically have to remove the battery for a few seconds from the phone and re-insert before the phone will start up. I have even performed a hard reset on this device.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm thinking that it might be a hardware fault, or at a really wild guess maybe the HTC Attentive App.
I'm having no problems with crashing or freezing!
I have actually found the device to be very stable, a lot nicer cleaner and stable than my previous device (Sony Ericsson Xperia X10).
Had exactly that problem a couple of times already. The only solution is to pull the battery out.
Still - better than an iPhone crash which requires you to plug it back into the PC before it will work again.
I had a similar situation:
I was making an international call (card service), when finished i heared the card IVR prompt if i need to make another call. I wanted to hang up but the screen was black adn dead. power button did not bring into life and i was keep on hearing the active call. had to take the battery out to kill this situation.
typically windows behaviour
Thought I had narrowed this down to the HTC attentive app, but alas the phone froze again this morning after hitting snooze 3 or 4 times. Oddly enough, the power button would turn the screen on and off, but the lock screen wouldn't show, nor could anything be moved or controlled on the screen (live tiles were still animated though). Battery pull again.
Yeah, typical windows behavior. No where near as bad as Windows Mobile which I came from though
I have the same issue. Can be in the middle of a call or anything. Had it reboot once while on charge too. Did you just remove the attentive app? Would it be worth trying a Hard Reset if that wipes the device. If so how easy is it to put your old Apps back on. Or do I need to write a list and search manually.
I did a hard reset and just didn't install the app again.
"When you buy or download apps from the Zune PC client, those apps are automatically redownloaded to the phone when you reset the device and login with your Windows Live ID again. When you download apps from the phone itself, you have to go to the Marketplace again to manually find and redownload the apps you want."

[Q] Broke Wifi and fails to power off

Hi, I have a 2 week old handset which has now twice displayed a pretty strange/annoying bug.
I have been using no Stamina settings other than location based WiFi and queue background data for the most part to gauge battery life under my normal work schedule but I noticed last week that my saved WiFi at home wasn't on, so instinctively I tried to click the WiFi symbol but to no avail.
I then tried to restart the phone, but when pressing the power off option, it simply booted me back on to the screen I was on before hand. This continually happened until I got pee'd off and repaired it.
Again today I ran into the exact same problem. No WiFi and I could not power off. After several attempts at powering off I managed to get it to boot into safe mode where I started uninstalling apps to rule out any rogue apps. I still couldn't reboot forcing me to repair and wipe the phone.
I keep telling myself that this is merely a software bug and I can't seem to find other posts where people are suffering similar problems.
So I futilely ask, has anyone ever had anything similar happen to theirs?.
Yeah I think this is a software bug too, a similar thing has happened to me a couple of times with the wifi becoming "stuck" and rebooting the phone fixed it but if you're having trouble shutting down your phone, have you got quickboot enabled? Regardless of that though, you do have two options to force a restart, either hold volume up and power, this will force shutdown or press the small red button next to the sim card tray.

I am pretty sure it is the quick boot option now. Stupid bug.
Phew...don't have to return it now.
I think sony have disabled the quick boot functionality for some reason, I ticked it thinking it might be almost like a reboot instead of power off & then power on, later I noticed the power off menu wasn't doing anything when tapping it, was almost about to do a reset but then remembered I ticked the quick boot option.
Hope they enable it in future updates.

[Q] Stuck in Flight mode due to of NFC ring Unlock app

I installed the NFC Ring Unlock application from McLear on the EZ2 tablet, which seemed to function well with my NFC ring.
I did one thing differently, because I don't like to give my Google master password to a 3-party app , I used an app password specifically for the NFC ring, which I considered to be one-time and didn't write it down
Then I had to fly and put the device in flight mode and powered it off some time later.
Now I get the NFC Ring Unlock screen in flight mode when I power up the device, but I can't get the unlock screen to work (NFC is also switched off in flight mode, didn't realise that and the Google authentication is also not working) and I can't get out of flight mode!
What I tried already:
Resetting the device by voulume-up/power, red button in SD-card and PC-companion connection.
Trying to hit the "normal" unlock screen which appears for a sub-second period.
Contact McLear, but they are flooded at the moment, because of the roll-out of their new products.
But neither of this works because they all depend on unlocking the device first.
Any advice?
If your device is unlocked and you have USB debugging enabled, you should be able to deinstall the App with ADB (Adcvanced Debug Bridge).
I guess that with the locked original Sony Bootloader, this doesn't work, though.
You could do a remote wipe with play device management:
https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager?hl=da&u=0
If Sony's software detect it when you connect it to computer, you might also have some options there. I am using Mac and only see repair device ,under the Xperia menu, as a potential solution.
Hey Svan, damn it sucks you are getting stuck by this! Sorry!
1. Did you try posting on the NFC Ring forum?
RE "3-party app" our app never stores your details, we use the Google provided Google Auth libraries to handle the authentication process. I can personally guarantee and promise at no point do we store or use your username/pass, we just get a success/failure callback from them and act accordingly.
2. Is it possible you can use your Google Auth or is your work-around preventing you from doing this?
We're actually just beta testing an updated version of the app that forces users to enter a pin code to handle circumstances such as this. Flight mode and two-form factor auth have been an issue for us so we're taking pro-active steps to address it ASAP This doesn't help you though ;(
3. As BabelHuber asked, do you have debug mode available? If so a simple adb uninstall of the app will get you moving again.
Sorry about the delay through support, I just took another team member on today to help with the backlog, he starts tomorrow so hopefully things will move faster!

Found a solution
I had a the exact same problem, and luckily I found a solution just in the moment I had already decided to factory reset.
I have the stock rom/bootloader/etc installed, no root.
Well anyway, factory resetting the phone is not an easy task either, so this is what I did to get to the factory reset option in the boot loader:
I pressed power for a loooong time, then the phone shutdown, I pressed power and vol-down for a looong time.
Some kind of boot menu appeared, I chose recovery.
At first I was stuck with a red triangle with an "!" over a lieing android. I found that pressing and holding power for 1 second then, while still pressing power, pressing "vol up" for 1 second and releasing both at once, presented me a special menu, wich contains the factory reset and option ... and also a mysterious "wipe cache" option, which sparked an idea of how I might circumvent the factory reset...
I remebered, that after the last OTA update the phone was so busy after reboot, that the NFC Unlock app was loaded after a long delay, while I was already able to interact with the phone.
So I though what the heck, before factory resetting the device I might as will try wiping that damn cache and see wether that caused the delay.
After wiping the cache, I booted and Android went through all those apps, and then showed the launcher/home screen without the widgets loaded etc, for just long enough to switch off the airplane mode, before the unlock app was loaded and immediately locked the screen again.
It might have helped that I disabled the SIM Card PIN check, i don't know.
Only this time I could unlock it normally :silly:
I hope this helps

Moto 360 2nd Gen - Boot loop after security update, can't navigate in recovery mode

After allowing to download a security update a couple of days ago, my watch went into a boot loop. It would get up to the screen with the time and the colorful spinning circles, run for a bit, then turn off.
I can enter fastboot, which has a message that the battery is low, and to connect a USB data cable (don't believe that's possible), status: 0.
I can also enter recovery. However, the instructions say that I should swipe up on the image of the dead Android. This doesn't work at this point, but a long press of the physical button does. So I enter recovery, and see my list of options. Again, I'm supposed to be able to swipe up and down to scroll through the list, and swipe left and right to select an item. No swiping works. Both a short and a long press just select the item in recovery, and the only item I can select at that point is to reboot.
After draining the battery as much as possible, to the point that I can't even enter fastboot without charging, I powered it on, and instead of displaying the time and spinning circles, it's just the spinning circles, but I think I have the same problem. It was running that for at least 20min and never got past, which is longer than even a first boot after factory reset.
Any thoughts on how to navigate in recovery or factory reset another way?
Same situation in here, but I solved it by pressing power button for 10 seconds, then the watch reloaded and everything went fine.
I have the same problem, but I get to the factory default option and back to the initial loop
Did anyone fix this?
Motorola have said they'll take my watch in for repair, but as I'm outside the 1yr warranty, they'll charge me. Also, they don't know the cost of the repair, so I'm basically giving my watch away allowing myself to be held to ransom for whatever price they seem fit.
Same here but its booting showing we got key update and I can't navigate to any side, even though on recovery mode same touchscreen not working. all was ok before this update...

There might be a possibility that your recovery mode is working, but you have to navigate with two fingers or swipe multiple times to get from one to the next entry. I thought that my touch is broken, but its just a bad engineered handling.
I hope this helps
Cheers

Yes Same here I also managed to do that !!
But anyway its not working normal and its not an system update..as after full reset you get back... this is just wear os update which is not coming back to my watch after I have reset it, I got old interface and security patch stays on 2017 April so our watch is lost support for updates
Is there a way to report Motorola support team that with this update they make watch useless?
You can get the touch to work in recovery. It's just very buggy...
Swipe down (might be up, not quite sure anymore) like a maniac as soon as you select recovery mode and don't stop for about a minute. You might have to press the button to get rid of the android symbol. But the touchscreen will suddenly start working normally allowing you to navigate the recovery. Might take you a few tries, but it does work.
Good luck.

Question phone screen is off and won't restart

my xperia iii just started acting up. I tried to log in to siriusxm and the screen timed out because I was away for a bit. I tried to turn the screen back on when it got stuck in accessibility mode with the screen off and constantly fired the Google assistant. pushing and holding power does nothing except fire off the assistant three more times. if I can't get it to come back to me I can do a factory reset since I just received this phone yesterday and haven't done much with it. anything I can do here?
This isn't normal behavior. If you can return it.
Assuming you didn't install something stupid it's likely a firmware or hardware issue.
+ 1
Was this a new device? Rooted?
Are you sure that you long pressed the power button and not the Google Assistant button by mistake?

Try pushing and holding power + vol up until it vibrates it'll force restart the device.
1. bought via swappa, listed as mint.
2. unrooted
3. it was the power button. it's below the volume rocker, first button on the side. the assistant is the second (and smaller) button on the side.
4. eventually the phone unfucked itself. I did nothing but wait. this actually happened a second time later on except this time the screen displayed my wallpaper at least. I rebooted as soon as I had control and so far so good. I will try power + vol up next time. btw I'm guessing it may have been a software issue. I was moving from a note 8 that had a bixby specific app that got transferred and activated. however a similar thing happened to me with a galaxy tab 4 (without any kind of software mod) so I don't know. I had to wait for that device to unfuck itself too.

Try Safe Mode. It will temporarily disable a lot of user-space configurations that can cause boot loops. It's good for broken launchers, bad widgets, impossible settings, etc.
Take the microSD card out too. Google worked hard to disable expandable storage starting with Android 11. There's the floppy-disk-slow, absolutely useless SAF and nothing else. Performance workarounds from other phones, even if they're as simple as legacy mount options, will cause bootloops.
