Swift Installer Question?? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello , I downloaded Swift installer and I really like what it can do but there's only one thing that bugs me and I was wondering if anybody can help me out? Because it could just be an easy fix and I might be doing something wrong. But I was wondering when you seem your OS to anything and I use like the Android p notifications and all that when I open up an app the notification bar on the top stays there as an overlay my app does not go full screen? Does anybody know how to fix that or if I have a setting off somewhere? Any help is always appreciated thank you

NVM figured it out thanks

What happens when there's a market app update? Do you have to reapply the theme for that app? Or wait for the swift team to release an update?
Edit: found this on Reddit

I'm not entirely sure why anyone would be having problems with swift installer. I've been using it for a couple of months now and while sometimes an update would break an app causing it to force close all you have to do is uninstall the theme for said app until swift updates again. Otherwise it always updates and never causes me phone wide crashing or formatting.

Assuming you have a Samsung phone, this problem occurs if you have a Samsung Theme applied when you install the Swift Installer overlays.
You should un-install all overlays, reboot, use Samsung Themes and apply the default theme, then re-install the overlays with Swift Installer, reboot, and all will be AMOLED inky black.

- reboot
- re-apply (go to theme store, Stop trial, and click Free trial again)

yeah, don't look for "Reapply" button, you should go to theme store again and click "Free Trial" on this theme again.
As for notification still in black, don't worry, it will revert back after reboot
(Custom trial theme mod from outside theme store needs reboot to apply and clear )
And to make custom theme stick and not revert back to default themes,
I will update the post later.

yes, you will need to do procedure on how to make theme not reverting back,
using package disabler app, try BK package disabler,
after you apply the theme, disable samsung theme store and Themes (themecenter) and go to
developer mode\running apps\, then you stop this apps named "themes". *Thanks Philt198

Afterall you done. Will never revert !!!

Substratum - Andromeda on XZ1C

Just a heads up for anyone looking to darken things up on their XZ1C...
I decided to make myself a guinea pig for the Substratum theming engine with the Andromeda plugin. The bright white menus were driving me crazy. It worked!
Here are the steps I took:
1. Install Substratum engine/app on phone
2. Purchased and installed Andromeda app on phone
3. Installed Swift Black theme (noted as compatible with Android 8.0.0)
4. Downloaded and unzipped the Andromeda client batch folder to my PC
5. Enabled ADB debugging on phone
6. Set the connection to "Transfer files" on phone
7. Ran the batch file on my PC
8. Batch file automatically runs Substratum in Andromeda mode on phone
9. Selected Swift Black theme
10. Selected "Android 8 - Nexus and Pixel" in dropdown menu
11. Applied all available overlays in Swift Black theme
12. Rebooted phone
I was pleasantly surprised after I rebooted. Everything looks perfect! No crashes. So far, all menus and apps seem to have themed correctly. Notifications look as they should.
EDIT: I found one small hiccup. Notifications on the lockscreen are still white. Font is a bit hard to read. I just disabled lockscreen notifications, since i'm wearing a smartwatch.
EDIT 2: Phone dialer app not theming
Cheers for the tips, I tried it and it works.
Great.
Thanks for sharing.
I can't seem to get black on the phone app though, everything else looks fab. Am I missing something?

I am having that problem too.
Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have a theme released for XPERIAS. Settings, SystemUI and the Dialer is done, almost finished the framework but as usual a new version of Android brings new code so figuring that out, on top of Android Studio and the Substrtum theme template is taking time. Might have to disable Sonys theme app too as I know the theme apks also have their own assets which overlay certain colours.
EDIT: Confirmed that Sonys themes will need to be uninstalled because they overlay the top of Substratum themes. @Didgesteve, @WaxysDargle, can you post some screenshots of the themed menus etc please?

lockscreen notifications still white. i did see one android system notification that looked right, but messaging, email etc are still white with grey text.
however, that did fix my power menu colors (black now)
what theme(s) are you using? i think some of this could be related to which themes we are using.
also, maybe we should try "Other" instead of "Android 8 - Pixel and Nexus"?

No, they are standard white with black writing. But I didn't tick the framework box (top option) in the Swift Black. I think playing with the three dropdowns underneath that first tick option will decide what colour your notifications are and what colour the writing is. That's where you will find the solution. I'm not that fussed about getting notifications black. Previous experience with Layers on my Z3c leads me to believe that it's incredibly difficult to get notifications right and you usually end up making some app or other unreadable. Swft Black is great, but I think Spectrum is also worth a look, a couple of apps look better with that.

Notifications theming has become much more streamlined in recent months. I think this is just a matter of "what has Sony done to the lockscreen".
Dark notifications and menus are the main reasons I theme at all.

Again, Sonys themes overlay certain colours in certain apps, in each theme there are about 7 or 8 assets from the framework to the SystemUI so if a certain colour isn't changing it's because Sonys theme has taken preference. I've removed all of them so Substratum is the main theme engine and not Sonys.

[Oreo] Substratum Theme Compatability

Has anyone had any luck applying Substratum/other overlays on Oreo (specifically CRA1)?
I have Andromeda, Sungstratum, all that stuff installed.
Yes but it took a while to find out how it worked. I'm rooted BTW so I don't need Andromeda.
Compile & activate the theme.
Reboot.
Go to substratum - manager
Activate all overlays again
Reboot
That's how it works for me.

How do you root CRA1?
Just recently got the manual Oreo CRA1 update coming from Nougat on T-Mobile S8+. It is incredibly quicker and much more fluid.
On Substratum I'm on Swift Black Complete Edition, along with Material Black from Samsung Themes. On Nougat that worked buy using the "Sungstratum" add on from the Play Store. When I upgrade to Oreo 8.0, I was no longer able to see Sungstratum in the Play Store. Instead, Substratum asked for another plug-in to allow it to run fully, Andromeda. So of course, had to buy that too.
But anyway, it's working nice. Visually that is. After finally being able to set it up to where I need it. Although, I am only still trying to figure out how to get a dark overlay for the notification card. Haven't figured that out yet.
You will have installation issues of overlays if you upgrade to Oreo CRA1 because of the new different plug-in used to activate Substratum. In my case, here is what I had to do when I installed a new overlay from a new theme. The symptom is, I install an overlay, but it doesn't show in under the "Manager" tab. Only under the theme and in the orange color, so it's saying that it's disabled. No matter however many times I select the overlay and choose options and re-enable overlay OR change overlay status, nothing happens.
What I had to do was simply restart the phone, run the Andromeda client from my computer and then go back to the overlay in Substratum and enable it, only then does it enable and turn green. The overlay actually installls this time.
I hate that part. Sucks for when trying and messing with new overlays just to try them out, makes the whole process just a freaking hassle.
Now, to the real question. You know how to get dark notification cards? Maybe dark notification tiles for the lock screen ?? that would be awesome.

Yep. Search Coffee in the forums and install it. It will then be in your Samsung themes to apply. It will black out your settings, phone, contacts and notifications. The QS Tile color comes from the coffee theme. The actual icons are from a Substratum theme.

I've had no problems. I would disable your overlays before you apply coffee. Apply coffee and see if the notifications are blacked out. If they are Grey change the resolution on your display back and forth and see of that fixes it. If that doesn't rebooting should fix it. The only minor drawback to this theme is that Samsung wants to kill it after it's been applied for 10 minutes. To stop that from happening once you get the theme working properly go in to developer options and stop the themes app. Then go in to settings-Apps-Enable system apps and clear cache and data for the Samsung themes app and the themes app. It seems like a lot of work but once you've done it a few times it only takes a minute or 2. Any time you reboot your phone you will have to redo that process. Hope it works out for you. Reach out with any other questions.

No problem. Some notifications depending on the app might come in grey. Most should work though.

Thank you sir!! This is currently working very nicely on Oreo.
Here's the link to the Coffee thread.

Please guide me I am using S8 exynos variant with orea ota but hand'nt had any luck in installing substratum on this phone. I have both substratum and andromeda installed and bought via playstore.

No need for root. Substratum doesn't require it.

This method worked for me. I agree this is annoying to have to restart the phone connect to the pc and run the andromeda application then go back in substratum and enable the overlays just to see the changes. But if you want it you'll do it

Removing Google account, clearing data, restarting phone . Helped twice already. Sometimes you have to repeat several times same steps.

Wipe cash partition, every time when you want update...i have same problem and don want to do factory reset...
samsung pushed really an buggy update to users so that they can stop asking about pie timeframe. After updating to Pie s9 is really useless.

Factory reset seems like a huge risk now.I mean what if that doesn't fix the problem and u ll be stuck with a useless phone where u cant download any apps or do anything
Maybe you habe disabled any important System-App for installation. Try to enable all apps and install the Updates again
Put it into battery saving mode...then put it back to normal mode...that usually fixes the no update to playstore ect
so far cleared cache, removed account, still can't seem to update preloaded samsung apps from the galaxy apps store (yes, cleared the app data as well). Google Play Store working fine though...
Update: Seems it was my work wifi, worked at home. Weird
Anyone know how to change the transition effects on the s9+ after the pie update?
Driving me insane trying to find it.
All i've found is a setting to turn it on & off again in biometrics settings! I still can't change what style i want? Any help with this would be very welcomed please.
Also, i want to change the default light to dark theme setting, but it's telling me i can't change it whilst i have a theme on from the theme store! How dumb is that! Good one samsung! I can only have a dark settings theme, without using a theme from your store!! How stupid!!
Anyone got a solution/way round these settings, please comment.

This part actually makes sense. The default theme is probably built so that it can change between both light and dark. Specifically built themes would not have a need for this functionality as the theme is already built the way the themer wanted it to look.

Yes i get that, but It's the "night mode" setting that chages the notifications and settings background, from light to dark that i want to keep dark, when i have a theme from the store set.
I have only managed to find one theme in the store that lets me keep the night mode active. But i am not that keen on it. Just was hoping there was a way to keep the night mode atvive when a theme was set.
Do you know where the transition settings are on pie at all? Want to change the style, but now can't find the setting?

Just apply the default theme and dark mode switch activates. Guess it's not compatible due to Google/Samsung implementation

Thank you for your reply, yes i have noticed that i can change it to dark node ONLY when set to the default theme.
Seems a little silly really, why put that option there & give you the option of changing the theme as well, only to discover, it wont work with a chosen theme!
Like i mentioned, there is one theme i have found that works with night mode, but i'm not to keen on it.
Shame!
Ok so has anyone found the page transition settings yet?
Customisation is key to Android, as everyone knows, but when you are limited to only certain customisations, it kinda defeates the object!?

Completely Dark-moding the V20 (running Oreo)

So, starting to switch my V20 (996US on Alpha-Omega Oreo ROM) to dark mode.
Many apps now have a switch.
I've installed the Dark Mode app to get some more apps into dark mode.
Installed the LG G8 Black Theme in the system settings to get the system settings, default dialer, etc. into dark mode.
What other dark mode tweaks am I missing?
For example, how do we get dark mode gmail in Oreo?
How do we get the notifications darker?
You should use a theme that has built in dark notifications. Most mark bencze themes that are dark mode have that option.

I haven't heard of any free ones that do. Out of the paid ones, here are some specific ones mentioned by someone on the Subreddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comments/arfj5n/anybody_know_any_other_lg_dark_oreo_themes_that/
Also, one member recently discussed trying to get dark notifications with Substratum themes in the past but having trouble:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/lg-v20-reveiw-modding-guide-mid-2019-t3930639/page9
It's a shame there's no easy free way to darken the notifications.
Any other tips for darkening the phones? (Like Gmail and a few other apps)?
I use muify, a worthwhile paid app, that you can color however you like, it's a sister app of Bottom Quick Settings that does the same.
Youz might be interested to know dark mode uses more power on an LCD because dark mode had to block out the white backlight behind the lcd. The opposite is the case on an OLED because it doesn't have a backlight : )

Thanks for these suggestions and for the tips about the backlight.
The only free theme with dark notifications that I could find for the LG V20 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.black.mios
Mios Black
It's quite nice overall!

Is there any other place I could get this other than play store? I've tried to find it, but don't trust the sources.

Got the same unavailable message. Strange to see a free LG theme being blocked in the U.S. I don't think there are any other sources than the external sites you see when searching. FWIW, I've used several apps from the APKPure site in the past without problems. I keep one of my spare V20s in a "minimized" configuration with no Google accounts attached and all apps either sideloaded or installed through Titanium Backup.
And in case anyone missed it, someone in that review/modding guide thread mentioned the free Substratum theme Sai's Oreo Theme that also has dark notifications (and it's not geoblocked in the U.S.).

Umm.. dunno, have you checked Yalp store/Aurora store, if they allow you to access it?
