Lets use this thread to list any bugs or problems we have come across.
By request of "test878", here is a list of all bugs in this thread. Did my best to add everything. If I missed something, or if anything I posted isnt considered a bug, please let me know and I will update. Lets first start off with the most important bug...
I can't seem to install Cyanogenmod7 at all and the bootloader is tied up pretty tight.
Anyone noticing any graphics lines in their widgets? Im getting some kind of glitch over my Youtube widget, and my Twitter widget. Update: Rebooting fixed it for now, will update if it comes back.
When I reboot the phone, all my apps that are on my sd card icons don't show up. I just get the generic green android icon. I tried messing with fastboot, didn't seem to help.
But my biggest bug and very noticeable problem is that the camera will freeze. This happens a lot. The picture will snap, the preview will come up and stay there. The phone is not frozen because I can hit the home button, but the camera will still be stuck on the same preview even after I hit the icon. Eventually stops after opening it several times. No restart required.
when you have the headphone jack plugged in, and you try to reboot the phone tries to reboot bug hangs with black screen. pressing the power button in any number of ways does nothing but turn the back light off and on (the screen displays nothing)
I have the 100% wake lock issue, its really pudding me off! Does anyone else have this??
WiFi will randomly (not really, it's easily replicated) drop out when connected to a Bluetooth headset, and will not turn back on unless you switch to handset or speakerphone mode.
I am having trouble with the clock/weather widget. It will not find my location for the weather
After said restart and another after it, when spinning thru the different windows, it shows all of the screen with widgets on them as blank until you stop on the different screens.
apps that I put in folders on the rosie and then later remove from said folder somehow show back up in that folder randomly.
HTC trace kb only works the first time or two, then stops working, even though it's still on in settings. Works again if you disable and the re enable, but fails the same way right after.
I think that the sync icon sticking is caused by HTC Watch. As soon as I deleted my account in the app and rebooted it unstuck.
The sizes are off in some apps because of the lcd density.
The notification light for gTalk is still flashing when after you open and reply to a message. To get it to stop, you have to back all the way out of gTalk, and go back to the message you just received.
Phone hard locks on Youtube after playing 3D videos. Screen turns off and capacitive buttons stay lit. Had to pull battery out to reset the phone. Happened on 2 different Evo 3Ds.
Camera goes to/defaults to 2D mode, despite the switch being in 3D mode
The music player is messed up for me with artists that have multiple albums.
When i send a message to someone it shows a green dot in the message app like i received a new message but it was just my message i sent
WIFI will not connect to a corporate secured network after reboot. I have to 'forget' the network, and start from scratch, each and every time.
Noticed when you snooze a calendar alert from the lock screen, it never re-alerts you, it acts like you dismiss it.
Seems the notification sound i have set does not play for my exchange mail. Plays for new gmail, but when new exchange mail comes it, it plays the 'Alpha' tone.
I set up my personal email last night using IMAP. On the lock screen it shows I have 99+ unread emails but on the home screen and in the email section its showing no unread emails.
I'm having a problem with Exchange. In People, the contacts can't be viewed Last Name, First Name, no matter how I try to configure the View settings.
I have had an issue with the camera freezing up on me. I'll take a pic, try to share, and it freezes. Hit the home button and it will respond.
my Yahoo! email won't show ANY of my mail using the native client.
3D will stop working in everything but the camera and gallery. Youtube won't play anything in 3D (just displays 2d), and The Green Hornet won't play in 3D. A reboot fixes it temporarily.
Can't get watchESPN to actually play video.
Anyone having problems with the home button not responding? I have to turn the phone off and then back on before it responds.
When on 3G, the youtube app does not function well. It plays random videos contrary to what you selected to view.
I had a weird bug where the lockscreen was black from about the middle of the LCD screen all the way down, and the top half of the screen was the ring to unlock and my 4 icons. Thing is, I couldn't unlock the screen, or open any of the apps. I tried sleeping the screen on and off, didn't fix it. Finally did a battery pull and that fixed it.
I noticed that when you plug the phone in to charge it always seems to kick the brightness up to the max and you have to turn it down.
the watch (green hornet) app has suddenly stopped displaying 3d.
I'm having an issue where there is a popping sound before the start of any audio. It happens whether i'm starting a text or listening to any audio. It may be an issue with my phone specifically.
Since the OTA I have started having random touchscreen issues such as the touchscreen being completely unresponsive.
Also I will touch on a certain app and another app will start instead.
Another bug when phone is in landscape mode the keyboard calibration tool doesn't show up as an option.
Sometime when I try to press the screen nothing respond in sorting place or move. Also when i restart the phone the phone don't power back up I have to turn it on normal.
Brightness problem. I have my brightness set very low, but when I use the 3d camera to take some pictures, the brightness seems to reset to full brightness. Soon as I go back in display settings and touch the slider just the slightest, it fixes itself.
When I make a call the earpiece seems to go quiet when ringing and then turns up as well. It's like the ringing is fading in and out when I'm making a call.
Download app from Market (FeedR and Currency Exchange) the last two days. Apps installed okay, but when tap to launch app (Both apps), the screen went black, none of the capacitive buttons nor the power button will awake the phone. Have to do a battery pull.
I was watching a Youtube video in 3D and had an incoming call. The screen went black immediately and I had no way of answering the phone, and I got no response from any of the capacitive buttons or power button. I missed the call, and the screen remained black with still no response from the buttons. Eventually I tried the camera button and it worked. Camera app launched and I had full control over the phone again.

I just noticed that the Weather Lock Screen doesn't display 3-digit temperatures correctly.
The music player pause and skip forward buttons show a pressed state at all times.
I cant even see the green hornet every time i go to it or to htc watch it tell me i need to update my software and i already did that. And after I tried it again it tell me there is no more software updates for the phone.
When you click on the power button and select restart, it actually shuts down the phone and you have to power it back on.
So I was on the phone today when my battery died and my phone shut off. I went to charge it using my car charger, and the light did not come on. Waited till I got home to try my normal charger, same thing. Decided to take the battery out and now it works fine. Not sure what happened, guess its a.....bug.
I'd appreciate it if anyone can confirm a bug in the calculator app. When I open it, the entire app is huge, its not formatted properly.
Apperantly screen is not big enough to read triple digit temperatures.
top half of the screen stops responding at times, usually after using one of the sprint or HTC apps. pulling the battery and restarting fixed this, cant select power off as it is in the top half of the screen
In the stock messaging app, when using a signature it always saves a blank message as a draft after sending original message.
I've been having random bugs like my screen going black or 3D/2D not turning on off correctly but most of it is stuff that can be corrected easily. The most noticable one I've notices so far is where everything on the lockscreen(background and all) is smushed in the top half of the screen but you still have to drag it up from the bottom to unlock.
about 40% of the time I turn the screen off on my phone, the screen will turn itself back on a second later without me touching anything. Turning it off a second time always keeps it off.
Sometimes, my music will start playing on its own, even though no music player is open
I also have experienced the SD card items Icons not showing up after reboot. Also see the Force Close Pandora pop up when I have not even activated it. Good to know they're looking into it.
My sms messages which were recieved within an hour of rebooting and read, are remarked as unread after a reboot. Annoying.

I just started up my camera and there were horizontal (in landscape mode) green static lines (about 1/8 in thick) across the screen. I have not tried any of the Fr3vo stuff so I am fully stock and on the .7 OTA. I rebooted the phone and it is gone.
When I pause the music player in the middle of a track, go off and do stuff in other apps or in the real world, then come back, often the music player has reset to the beginning of the track.
In the browser, drop-down lists don't work on some sites.
My icons are also changing back to the default green android for apps placed in a folder.
If I'm in the camera in 3D mode then put my phone to sleep using the power button, then press the power button to bring it out of sleep, the unlock screen has the parallax 3D on. The lock screen isn't in 3D of course, but you can see the distortion as if it were stuck in 3D mode. Unlocking your phone fixes this.
twice now I've had my phone just shut off. Not reboot. I go to turn the screen on and nothing happens. I hold the power button down and the HTC splash pops up and the phone boots.
Notification bar just disappears every once in awhile. Have the restart the phone to get it back.

I was able to connect to HTC Sense.
Started up Spiderman 3D. Played for a minute. Hit the home key. I was at the Sense UI but it was trying to display everything in 3D. Had to go back into Spiderman and quit normally and everything worked fine again
Got it working by visiting Htcsense.com to make an account.

On your lock screen if you remove the Phone icon it's not in the list to add it back again if you wanted it on the lock screen

Yeah i did the Over the AIR update, it's not a big deal for me, just something i noticed, that was missing when choosing what apps you want in the lock screen bar
Still can't DL anything manually from the Market. I talked with Bonnie from CNET who did the review from them and she said the market was working on her review model.
I just got another OTA update when I booted back up. Maybe this fixes it? (I got a OTA when I first activated it this morning)

activation was the prl, profile and firmware update, not the OS update
i charged my phone, and it stayed red and it doesnt goto green when full

just because it shows in the battery as 100% doesn't mean it's truly 100% battery, i installed Battery Time lite, the OS showed the battery at 60% but battery time showed the batter at 53%, so you could be just a little impatient

lol no the battery meter stopped moving, it was full.
however it didnt change to green at all. Gotta let it die again and try once more, but there was another guy who had it happen also
anyone confirm they got a green light?

weird. I had the same message pop up after activation. I couldn't use data after activation until I updated the profile myself.

you do realize that when the bar reaches the 100% mark the animations stop but it's still charging, once it reaches over the 90% the battery meter shows 100% when in fact it could be 91%

its safe to say if the phone came shipped 50 percent, and charged for over 2 hours without changing led colors, somethings up lol
My 3G and 4G keep cutting out on me.
someone mentioned this but this is HUGE. The phone icon disappeared off the lock screen and the icon is gone from the apps menu.

Every android phone can boot into safe mode, its pretty much what you would expect from a safe mode on a pc.
All third party content is disabled etc.
A reboot *should* put you back to normal, failing that try to pull battery for 30 seconds then reboot.

On Samsung’s devices, almost all users will be able to access Safe Mode with by pressing and holding the menu button during start up. If it’s a capacitive menu key, make sure to release and press again each time the LED under the key comes back on. You don’t want to miss the catch for Safe Mode because the button released itself.

BEWARE - Safe Mode on Samsung Galaxy Note 2
My GM2 accidentally went into Safe Mode this morning - I guess because I pulled the battery while the phone was not yet fully down.
At first, I was shocked as it looked like my phone was reset to factory state. Then I realized the "Safe Mode" in the bottom left corner.
I think that in Safe Mode simply all user-installed are disabled (which may be achieved also using "pm disable" on the console), BUT:
apparently due to bugs, at least on the Galaxy Note 2, all accounts, contacts, calendars, and SMS got DELETED or became inaccessible!
What a crappy feature.
Thanks goodness, after re-starting the phone (to enter normal mode), I was able to restore part of the data using Titanium Backup.
/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db is still present, but for some reason it is ignored
A few threads have already been made, most are in various subforums of various phones. I think it's an Android problem, not the phones themselves.
Here's the deal:
On Android 4.x (I'm on a Nexus 5 with 4.4.4, CM11 M11) with the lockscreen set to swipe only, no security (but that does not matter, happens on PIN as well...) wake your phone out of standby with a quick tap to the power button as you'd usually do. Then, long press the power button for around 10 seconds, maybe a bit longer. The phone now reboots and throws you back to the SIM PIN prompt.
For me this happens when the phone is in my pants and I kneel down. The tightened fabric of my pants pushes and holds the power button down. If I'm lucky I happen to feel the short vibration after booting to know I will not have any cellular connectivity unless I get out the phone and enter the PIN. If I don't realize what just happened I'm unavailable for the rest of the day.
I already tried https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector, to no avail. This issue is independent of the power menu being present.
Do you guys have any idea on how to fix this behavior? Either by totally disabling the power button whilst in the lockscreen or specifically disabling this 10 second reboot thing?
On every Android-powered device I've ever owned (several dozen at this point), holding the Power/Sleep button for ~10 seconds or longer causes the device to shut off and reboot. It's not an Android issue (because older Windows Mobile devices like the HD2 running that OS did the same thing), it's simply how the devices are designed to work as I understand it, there has to be some kind of way to shut them down/restart them in case of some hardware or software issue that prevents the actual buttons - whether soft or hard - from working as they should. Not every device has a removable battery so, if it gets "stuck" and can't be shut off, it would stay on till the battery was totally dead, so this ~10 second thing was added in a long time ago.
This is basically the same as where pressing and holding a computer's power button for ~4 seconds or longer will shut it off - the difference is that Android devices tend to reboot immediately whereas a computer will actually stay off.
I don't think there's anything that can be done to stop this behavior since it's an aspect of the device's hardware. Maybe something is possible, but I can't say for sure as I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about the deeper aspects of today's smartphone hardware technology than some others, who knows.
From this point of view it totally makes sense that you can't disable this feature. Unless there's a rewritten kernel or something...

All devices have this. It is a safety feature just in case it freezes and your devices doesn't have a removable battery. It would take a custom kernel to pull it off
So i was just forced to install Lollipop by Sprint. I was having a minor S-Pen issues and Sprints "FIX" was to update me to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Well now I have 500000000 other issue with my phone. Most i can live with, but there are 2 in particular that at driving me absolutely bonkers and I cant fix. I was hoping someone around here would have an idea how to fix it without me having to root, and go back to the previous OS. (The Sprint Root seems a little intimidating and I cant afford to brink my phone even for 20 minutes).
The main issues I am having are regarding the lock screen. I cant get the lock screen to stay open more then 3 or 4 seconds and if I botch my pattern or don't swipe fast enough, the screen will turn itself off. Then I have to turn the screen back on and try and unlock it again. Sometimes the screen even turns off in the middle of trying to unlock it. It is EXTREMELY annoying having to try and unlock my phone 4 or 5 times just to get to the notification screen ...... As for the Notification screen, once i finally am able to get my phone unlocked, then when i try and swipe my notification bar the phone will sometimes turn the screen off as well, then I have to go BACK to trying to unlock the phone and try and do everything faster then 2 jack rabbits banging in order to just get to my notifications. I can't say I had any problems like this. I was running Stock rooted OC5 for a while and had really no problems with it. I didn't have any pattern or pin unlock though, so maybe it would have been different? I would have stayed stock but my Flashaholic took hold and made to start trying out other ROMs.
As for rooting, I have found it very easy to root this phone. I haven't had a problem either using auto-root or flashing superSU.
Factory reset is easy.

before a factory reset, you might try doing a wipe of the cache partition.
turn your phone off
press and hold, Volume up + home key + power until you see the blue booting to recovery mode message
wait for recovery mode to display (the menu will show after the green robot)
use the volume rocker to move down to wipe cache partition and press the power button to select it.
now select the yes line and press power
now reboot your phone and see if that helps with the lock screen behavior

You should read more before trying to root
Hi all,
I got this Xperia M5 that's been giving out warnings about memory being full and I suppose it finally gave in. It only partially boots after like a full minute of showing you those blue waves. When it 'boots' the screen is black and nothing works, except you can see the status bar with just the battery icon, no-SIM icon and the clock.
Weird thing is when the device is powered off, you can press the power button once and it'll display a large battery indicator which shows the percentage normally-- I've seen this go up from 0 to over 90 something incrementally.
But when it's 'on' the way I just described, the battery is always at 0% with a red ! next to it.
Anyway, when it's in this weird half-life mode, you can actually pull down the notification bar normally, and tap stuff as well. Flashlight works, you can see an actual WiFi list (nothing happens when you connect) etc. When you launch stuff through here though, like settings, it won't open anything. It'll make the sound as if it's launched something but the remainder of the screen will still be black.
Using the dedicated camera button, I can access the camera. It works (sort of), meaning you can see the camera display where the screen used to be black. And it immediately says "system process is not responding," so I'm guessing this is a system issue where it can't load basic stuff like the homescreen?
Whatever you do or don't do, it stops responding after a couple minutes and shuts itself off.
Stuff I've already tried:
- Safe mode (volume down + power), just 'boots normally'
- Recovery mode (volume up + power) done that for over two minutes, does nothing or just 'boots normally'
- Hold down the tiny yellow 'off' button under the SIM/SD cover, did nothing.
- Xperia Companion: PC won't recognize the phone either in that zombie state, or when it's off, so I tried 'device cannot be detected', shut phone down, held down volume down button, connected USB still holding down, waited for a while and viola, nothing happened.
It's factory OS, never messed around with it and I don't know the version (could be 5?).
Any ideas?
Guys at this point all I'm wondering is if anyone ever managed to brick a phone that's as semi-responsive as this one, in the history of bricked android phones anywhere.. I mean how could it be bricked when you can (sort of) boot and even open the camera?

No I wouldn't say download, it's weird-- there's the status bar at the top and soft navigation keys at the bottom, but the homescreen in between these is black. I tried tapping this black area to see if stuff is there logically but you just can't see them, but there was no interaction, no sound or anything.
I am able to pull down the status bar to reveal the usual buttons and such, like I mentioned before you can turn on the flashlight, click to see a list of available wifis etc. But you can't access settings through here, I mean you tap settings and the main part of the screen is still black.
The only way to get the screen to work is to open the camera through its dedicated button, where the camera display works normally, you can switch cameras etc. Tried accessing the gallery through here but it didn't work.
I just don't wanna buy a new phone when this one doesn't seem bricked at all. If it like didn't respond at all and nothing appeared on the screen I wouldn't think twice before buying the first phone I see on Google.
im afraid that you have to flash stock rom again if you will boot into download/fastboot mode.but your problem seems strange.what was the last thing you have done before phone stuck like this?

Not my phone but it'd been going on about low memory for a while now. I got the PC to recognize it once in that zombie state, so I'll try that with Companion if I can get it to half-boot again. I'll post updates if anything happens.
