Quality case for LG X Venture? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi:
Has anyone found a reasonably high quality case for the LG X Venture/X Calilbur V9?
I love my X Venture, but I've already tried 3 cases for it. The first case-a MiniTurtle was complete garbage-unusable.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y2KZPD9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The second one, a Spevert, sold on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XCWJ6P/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
was almost usable, but provided minimal protection, and was also somewhat junky.
The third, a Zizo Bolt, looked to be quite well-made in many ways, and provides good protection. However, the buttons are inline or even slightly recessed from the edge of the case, and also stiff. That makes them extremely difficult to press. The case is also a little too slippery in the hand.
Does anyone know of a quality case for the X Venture? I'd prefer all TPU for grip, but two layers would be fine.

I'm using an Incipio NGP case and I really like it. I wish it was clear because I really like the design of the X venture and I would prefer not to hide it, but the case does give a nice extra layer of protection and I really like how it makes the buttons feel (the buttons on my phone require barely any force to press, which I really don't like. The case provides a little bit of extra stiffness so it makes the buttons feel a lot better. Definitely not too stiff though). It's also pretty grippy, but not quite as grippy as the bare back of the phone in my opinion.
I also tried a Speck clear case and I really didn't like it. It made the buttons feel awful and the material that it's made of - I didn't like how it felt in the hand and it's also totally smooth so it has much less grip than the bare back of the phone.

Thanks Rich. Is it fairly thick as cases go, thin, or somewhere in between?

Rich:
Thanks. Compared with other cases, is it thick, thin, or somewhere in between? Any chance you could measure its thickness? It's made of TPU, right?

It's decently thick, a little bit more than I expected, and it feels very sturdy. It's not one of those cheap thin cases. If I had to guess I would say it's somewhere around 1.5mm thick. I don't know if it's made out of TPU but the website says it's made out of a polymer material. It's flexible but still feels very sturdy.
I don't know if this will help at all but I took a picture of the back camera cutout so you can kinda get an idea of how thick the case is: https://i.imgur.com/BdDx5zo.jpg Like I mentioned before, to me it looks like maybe 1 - 1.5mm.

Rich:
Thanks again. I know what you mean-the X Venture is elegant looking, isn't it.
Mmmm..that looks like more than 1.5mm to me, but it's hard to tell. The other thing I really was hoping for was a belt clip, which the Incipio doesn't have. I will consider getting one anyways, though. I can use it on my second LG X Venture. I like the phone so much I bought a second one as a backup.
I'm emailed Armor-X to see if they have a case to fit the Venture. Why is this so hard?

Oh, if you're interested in one with a belt clip Pelican makes a heavy-duty case that comes with a belt clip I believe: http://www.pelican.com/us/en/product/phone-and-tablet-cases/lg-case/voyager/c31030 (a little bit too big for me)
Unfortunately it's not a super popular phone so our case options are a bit limited compared to, say, a flagship. Plus, it is a rugged phone so it does have some pretty good protection by itself.

Video Review: SGP Ultra Capsule for Galaxy note

Hey guys,
Got my hands on the SGP Ultra Capsule and wanted to bring you a quick video on it. The case itself is made of durable TPU, so while it is flexible, once you put it on the Note, it becomes firm and tough. I love the look and feel of the case, although the buttons are a little hard to press.
Check out the full video below for more info:
Just wanted your opinion on this; The last Smart Phone I had I never felt like I needed a case for it, was pretty durable. I just got the Note recently and have felt like it's probably a good idea to get some sort of case for it. I've been looking around, and everything I see seems either way too bulky, or so thin that they couldn't effectively protect the phone anyways. The case you reviewed seems to fit into the latter category. Do these thin TPU cases actually protect the phone much? Are they simply for esthetical purposes, or just to protect from scratches? Or do they seem to provide protection in case of small drops?
I'm a noob to cellphone cases, and am rather skeptical of cases such as this one, but for my own esthetics I do prefer them over the bulky units.
Nice case! I look to get this

Cruzer Light Androidify vs Diztronic TPU case

I currently have both cases, so I thought I would post a quick comparison.
This post isn't about describing both cases, you can see that in their respective threads. This is just to compare both cases to each other.
First off, I just want to thank both case makers for making such high quality cases at an affordable price. Both cases are top notch. I would be happy with either one, so this form is in no way, shape, or form meant to promote one over the other.
The Diztronic case looks great. It is the thinner/less bulky of the two. It matte finish is a bit slick, but still provides more grip than going without a case. The case looks professional, and is very low profile. As stated above, the case is the thinnest of the two, and as such the kickstand is a more accessible. I don't have fat fingers, but I do have large hands. I can easily open the kickstand with my thumb using this case, I can't do that on the Androidify case...I have to use my ring finger.
The Androidify case looks great as well. It isn't as professional...but it is cool and fun. It adds a unique style to the device, and I enjoy it. It is thicker than the Diztronic, and less adds slightly more bulk (but not a ton..still a thin case). The case wraps around the bezel a bit more, and due to its slight increase in thickness, may provide a bit more protection for the phone. The androidify case is more prominent and the front of the phone...so it is more noticeable, but as I said it may add protection. Its design and ribbing on the side also provide more grip and a solid feel. The added bulk is not really perceivable (unless the cases are next to each other), except for when you try and access the kickstand. I cannot use my thumb, at all, to open the kickstand. It takes a bit more effort the access this feature.
All in all I love both cases. Which one do I prefer? Honestly I don't know, they are both that good. Plus, even if I had an opinion, I would withhold it. I only want to promote both case makers, because they both produced fantastic products.

thought I would need this thread as well...sorry.
Thanks for posting this! I have the Cruzerlite on the way, and I've been curious how this would compare with the Diztronics case. I wanted grip, so I think I made the right call.

No problem. That's why I posted it!

I got the matte black Diztronic case yesterday and I like it a lot. I never had a case on my original Evo. With the phone being so thin, I like that the case makes it a little easier to hold (if not a bit harder to get to the buttons).

My 4 cases - reviews and thoughts

Hello friends,
I thought I'd share some thoughts on the four cases I have for my Note 3. They are, from left to right: A Samsung view case which came with my phone, a Wave case by Mob:C, a Neo Hybrid case by Spigen, and a Slim Armor case also by Spigen.
First, the flip/window case. This was free when I bought my phone in Korea. It has a window and finger grooves on the side. I'm fairly certain it's an official Samsung product, but it's not very good. I only used it for about three days before buying a new case, and I noticed the following:
1. The window was already very scrathed and didn't look very good.
2. The case didn't stay shut that well.
3. The finger groove design makes it difficult to put into and remove from the pocket.
4. The build quality isn't very good. The case feels cheap and fragile.
5. It's also not a smart flip case. Would not recommend.
The second case, called the Wave by Mob:c was the first non flip case I found In Korea. I liked the drop protection this case offered, but the enormous rubbery bumpers also added a significant amount of girth to the phone. I also liked the deeply recessed camera cutout, which kept the camera well away from tabletops. The s pen cutout is also very generous, allowing for easy access. Things I dislike about this case are as follows:
1. The wave shape is perhaps intended to make the phone fit the hand better, but in reality it seems to make it worse, possibly because it makes the phone so wide.
2. The wave shape, like the fingergrooves on the flip case, tends to make this case get hung up on pockets when going in or coming out.
3. The bezel around the screen is quite shallow, making it dangerous to set the phone down face down.
This case is alright overall, but I can't really recommend it unless you're in love with the shape.
The third case is the well known Neo Hybrid from Spigen. This case arrived at the same time as the Slim Armor, as I liked both designs but wasn't sure which I'd prefer. This case is very slim and therefore doesn't feel like it would offer much protection. It's also a bit slick in the hand. The only other thing I'm not crazy about with this case is the very low bezel on the screen and the very shallow recess for the camera. It didn't offer the protection I wanted, but I still think it's an attractive design and will work perfectly for those looking for a trim case that still offers a bit of protection.
Lastly, my favorite of the four, the Slim Armor. Things I like about this case include the just deep enough bezel, the just deep enough camera recess, and the rock solid feel in the hand. It honestly feels like a suit of armor for your phone, and while it doesn't appear to offer the maximum protection you'd get from the Otterbox or similar designs, I'd still trust it to save the phone from a realistic drop. Things I don't like about it: it's quite slick in the hand, and the buttons aren't quite as easy to use as they are on the naked phone or with the other cases.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this case. The feeling in the hand is just fantastic, and the case is attractive but still minimalist.
Hope you enjoyed these mini reviews, thanks for reading.

I am using the slim armor myself in slate. Absolutely love it. I also tried the neo and wasn't impressed. The outer ring didn't fit properly and the overall feel in the hand wasn't for me.

I have the Slim Armor on my N3 right now in white. The fit and finish is at a very high level. The protection seems about right for normal use. It is an impressive case. Very solid and polished. But, I am not sure I am going to be able to continue to use it for two reasons. First, it is slippery. Common sense tells me I am going to drop this case more often and that just does not make sense to me. Second, the power button takes an effort to push and that is annoying because you are always using it. I could probably live with the buttons, but worrying about dropping the phone is a deal breaker for me. My last case was the CruiserLite on my Note 2. I used that case for a year ... very grippy with texture on each side ... dropped it one in a year of use. I've tried the CruiserLite for the Note 3, but it did not fit well and I returned it.
Any suggestions on a grippy case for the Note 3?

I have about 5 case for my phone right now so far this spigen is the 1 that would slip out hand the most but I haven't broke it yet then I have the knock off griffin case that has protection and has grip and it's kind like the otterbox then I have some cheap 9$ one I won on a ebay bid then I have the blason one which has alot of grip then I have a caseology one but the spigen is semi tough because I dropped it once on tile floor the knockoff griffin is pretty touch I dropped it while biking on pavement and it survived surprisingly because the case was 10$ from Japan

TPU Cases?

Anyone find any good tpu cases?
I found a couple on Amazon but most with bad reviews. Most complaints were that the cases do not fit.
I found this one.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I86GGII/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_22zhtb0CC8DKH
It has no reviews yet and I bought it ...I don't have it yet... But let's hope it's good.
I have this one. It fits. It's snug, but it fits. The buttons are pretty hard to press though. It will do until some other options come out I guess!
If I could have any case for this device, I would want a Gumdrop Bounce Skin.
My wife has one for her Ipad air with a glass screen protector and there is nothing like it. Survives drops and a 5 year old, feels great to touch, sticks to your hand so you can use if one handed without a strap, sticks enough to a table or whatever so you can just lean it up against anything (wall, pillow, monitor, shelf, pencil holder, ...) and it stays at the same angle you set it down at, easy.
I just love this thing. If gumdrop doesn't make it, I'm going to have to bribe a silicone guy and get him to copy one for me. I think I could almost duplicate it with RTV silicone rubber if I bought two of them cut them up to fit and then did a two part mold, but it would take a bit of thinking and I don't know how well RTV silicone would last (but it would have the right shore A hardness to feel great and "stick" in all the right ways).
The best thing about the case is that while it grabs lint and stuff like most silicone cases, it does not feel bad and does not inhibit its stickiness. This might not make sense to you if you aren't acutely aware of everything you touch and how it feels (and I wish I didn't), but if you are sensitive to it, this is amazing. Now I haven't covered it in baby powder or anything, but it is amazing not having to worry about tossing it on a pile of laundry or the bed or the carpet and it not getting so covered in tiny dust that you feel like you have to wask it off. Even my otterbox for my GS4 makes me feel like that sometimes, but not my wife's gumdrop bounce, man I'm envious of that skin.
If you want here is the link to it on amz. for the ipad. they even have it in like 7 colors, I just wish they made it for the Note pro.., maybe they will.
http://www.amazon.com/Gumdrop-Cases-Bounce-Skin-BOUNCE-IPAD5-LTBLU-V3/
I got my Poetic Graph Grip yesterday. I'm pretty torn about it. The fit is great, it is much better protection than the Fosmon case linked above that I have, it is comfortable to hold BUT... it is heavy!! It adds a significant amount of weight to an already large tablet. And it also seems to be a bit of a dog fur/dust magnet. Which is a problem in a house with three dogs! So I'm not sure whether I will continue to use it or not.
OK I got the tpu case.... And it's pretty good. The buttons are a little hard to press especially the power button.... Other than that it's not bad.

My Opinon on the Orzly Case Line

Disclaimer : I do not benefit in any way for saying anything good or bad about these products. I am giving you guys my honest opinion on these cases to help provide some assistance on buying a case.
Let’s start with the first case I bought from them.
Orzly Flexicase (Clear)
Link to the case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072MZCQB6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_v8mFzb704M66R
Price :£12.99
Things I like: Simple case, adds much need grip to the OnePlus5. Doesn't detract from the overall phones aesthetic or feel. , Good lip around the camera bump and the front.
Things of concern: It's a simple case, it's mainly there to prevent scratches. Not going to protect your phone from anything major
Comments: I really like this case, there is a craft to a making something simple and effective and this is it. No fancy features it just protects your phone from scratches, adds grip and protects from small drops. It doesn't over stay it's welcome and I congratulate on that.
I was happy with my purchase at the price I paid but since it has gone down. I think anyone wanting a simple case you can't really go wrong with this.
Also like to note, I haven't had problems with any holes in the case. Some people on other forums have asked me about the quality of the finish. No evident problems with the finish of my case.

Orzly Wallet Case (Black)
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072QV1VRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_qInFzbCVEWP0X
Price: £14.99
Things I like: Protects the screen while it’s closed, Magnet keeps the wallet closed well, Effective card slots and pocket slot, Effective stand, I like the case that holds the phone in the wallet, not too bulky.
Things of concern: It’s a wallet case, people either love them or hate them.
Comments: I had this case for my HTC 10 and they have improved this case immensely. Now having three card slots instead of two allows me to take my bank card, ID and my public transport card without having to double up in the slots (That can create further issues). The main issue with last years was the case that held the phone in place. Last year was a hard shell, now throughout my time working with phones, more than half of wallet cases I have seen have broken inner shells because they use a hard shell inside. This year they have basically taken the great Flexicase design and used it as the holder for the wallet case. That was a great move and make the wallet case great.
For a wallet case, this is a solid wallet case. You can’t really go wrong with it.

Orzly Slim Stand Case
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073S7BWQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Price:£12.99
Things I like: THIS THING IS SLIM, the case itself may be the lowest profile case I have used on the OnePlus5, The stand can withstand a lot, stand can be rotated in different ways.
Things of concern: This case may not work with some in-car phone holders, the stand bulges out and made it hard for my vent holder to hold it.
Comments: I picked up this case because I was intrigued. I didn’t think I would like it but I really did! The case has a really nice soft touch finish and provides protection for the camera bump which is surprising as the case is really low profile , it provides a very small lip on the front so it may or may not protect the phone from if you put your phone screen down. The case doesn’t really take much away from the buttons which is nice.
The ring stand is really handy, A couple of times I’ve used it. I do find myself playing with the ring stand itself and hanging my phone off my finger, the case fits very well I can trust that my phone will stay there hanging. The stand really is quite strong. I can put a lot of force on the stand and it didn’t feel like it would break, (I have posted a video demoing that) The things I would say is that I would like the stand to have different standing points, it would be nice to have the phone to stand at different angles, while this isn’t a major thing, I thought I’d point it out.
I really like this case, nuff said.

Orzly Fusion Case
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072MPYX9Y/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Price: £9.99
Things I like: Not bulky, feels like it would protect the case.
Things of concern: Can’t think of anything…
Comments: This is the case I have on my OnePlus5, I really like it. It’s like the FlexiCase but better. This honestly feels like this case has been designed by someone who’s wanting a make a case for themselves. There is extra grip points around parts of the case which your hand is in contact with. That’s a smart move. There is some little feet on the back around the clear back, this is a expert level move from Orzly, clear plastic scratches easily by doing this the plastic clear back from the ground. The clear back is quite hard and seems like it could withstand a drop, this is the motto of this case: it’s solid.

Comments About Orzly
One thing I have noticed is Orzly has revamped their packaging. It’s more like you would see in a shop and has nice little touches to them. Having a little tab to pull to open the box and having nice information (To read on the toilet obviously) adds to the over. Here is some photos : http://imgur.com/a/vZ4eu
Please ask any questions and if this helped someone, if you liked it I may do more.
Thanks so much for this. I agree with the flexicase and slim case, both have been great for me and I have already used the stand on the slim case for a train journey. Worked out great. I am looking forward to receiving my fusion bumper case from the reviews both you and niijonodhg have been giving!
Thanks for your review. Can't decide between slim stand and fusion case. I don't like a lot of bulk as the phone itself isn't the smallest one and I like to keep the look of it. Generally I'm very very careful with my phones but
Unfortunately I already cracked my screen (first time ever). Currently in repair.

Ouch hopefully you get it back soon! As for the slim case, it has virtually no screen protection but the stand is very useful and it is also a grippy case. You can put your finger in the ring part while your using it to help you stop dropping it.
I've made your decision even harder

Yes you do make it harder ?. I never used cases mainly for protection but more for the extra grip but dropping my OP5 makes me reconsider this. But when I dropped it I didn't have any case installed so it was pretty slippy. Maybe I try both cases as they are not that expensive .

Getting both of them might be a good option. My favorite is the fusion but the slim case is really good. The slim case adds grip to the phone without much bulk or extraprotection where as the fusion is really grippy as well as adding more protection.

Yeah the stand feature for me is a must. Personally I prefer the Wallet Case version, as it's got that extra bit of screen protection with the fordable lid. But they're all nice in different ways.

Just received my Orzly Fusion today and have to say: that thing is amazing! Adds minimal bulk but seems to be good protection. And the best thing is that it adds so much grip to the phone and makes it really comfortable to use.

I also received mine today and I completely agree with everything.
I had the Ringke case on my Nexus 6P, which had the same type of back plastic and I know for a fact it does not yellow over time.
I also have a dBrand skin on my phone, and the case fit perfectly over it with no hassle at all. Dragon Skin with Orange Logo and Camera Cutout.
I also have the Orzly Tempered glass installed and the case fits perfectly around the glass as it should... Since it's from the same company.
