Galaxy S9 plus Unlocked Software updates - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I just noticed Samsung released the August security patch for the S6 edge and the note 5.. what's going on with the S9 plus ? I've received 2 software updates since it's launch and I'm sitting on the June security patch.. any answers to why it seems like Samsung is abandoning the S9 line ?

A5 2016 testing!

Optus testing Nougat for the Galaxy A5 (2016)
Samsung recently confirmed the Nougat update for the Galaxy A5 (2016) along with a bunch of other A series handsets. Australian carrier Optus has now begun testing the said update, with the commercial rollout expected to begin by the end of January. The phone is currently running Android 6.0.1.
Going by this revelation, it’s possible that the rest of the world will also see the update around the same time, although nothing can be confirmed at this point.
The Galaxy A5 received a security update to patch to what was considered a “critical flaw” not too long ago. While the company didn’t publicly announce what the critical flaw was, it was relieving for the customers to know that it was fixed for good.
We are looking forward android nougat for a5 2016

Samsung officially responded to this. According to the information provided, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 will unfortunately not receive the Android Nougat update. It should be noted here that Samsung has made a special campaign for the S5 and Note 4 owners to pass on to the next generation of devices, while the tests show that their performance for Nougat is inadequate.
According to Samsung official information, the Galaxy E series and the Galaxy Alpha, the forerunner of the A series, will also not receive the Android Nougat update.
maybe they will skip 6.0 and go straight to 7.1.1 for the Alpha, just like they skipped 5.1.1 lol

clearly you did not understand the joke, but even though a joke and even though Alpha users have lost their hope as long as Samsung doesn't confirm that they will not be releasing an update for ALPHA there is place for hope, I mean the S5 Mini finally got it, we're next. (I'm talking about marshmallow)https://www.sammobile.com/2017/02/17/galaxy-s5-mini-marshmallow-update-rolling-out-now/

sorry, I always get a little angry in the morning
Samsung disappointed me very much.
I bought a premium smartphone and received only one update and remains far behind with version 5.0.2.
Note 4 is still powerful enough to handle nougat, but Samsung will not update it due to business logics
My last device from samsung.
Its february 28th and im not still getting update on s6
Not quite sure what this thread has to do with the galaxy alpha and it seems to be turning into a sammy bashing thread so I'm going to close this up

Sm-g965U1 still on Feb patch.... Is that normal?

It's crazy, my Wife's Note 8 got the May patch already. My S6 has April and my S9+ has February, WTH?
Maybe they're cooking up a big update or something and it's taking time.
The absolute worst part of owning a Samsung phone is the horrible firmware update process. They just plain don't give a crap after they have sold you the $1000 device!!
Even China ZTE is better!!!
I have the may 1st security patch. I purchased the unlocked model through Samsung and then flashed the T-Mobile firmware. I've been getting updates from T-mobile's server. I would check Samsung firmware science and flash the latest update available.

Nothing yet. Still Feb. Kinda pisses me off...going almost into June and still on old security. I went to SAMMOBILE and they don't even list a SM-G965U1...do I have some mysterious rogue phone? Geesh!!

Verizon just pushed Pie to the Note 8. T-Mobile last to Update for 2nd year in a row

Just a friendly reminder that T-Mobile SUCKS when it comes to updates. For the 2nd year in a row they are the last US carrier to update the Note 8. Last year they were by FAR last to update the Note 8 to Oreo. They released and then immediately pulled the OREO update on April 1st and 3rd. They then held it until May 15. Hey T-Mobile! YOU SUCK!
2018 Note 8 OREO Updates Pushed:
March 27, 2018 AT&T
March 30, 2018 Sprint AND Verizon
May 15, 2018 T-MOBILE (SIX+ WEEKS LATER!)
Tmobile pushed Oreo on April 2, 2018. Not sure where you got May 15th from.

And they immediately PULLED the update a day later because they found a bug and released it six weeks later. Do better research.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8
March 12, 2018 – Canada unlocked: Samsung Canada revealed it would start rolling out the Oreo update from March 18, 2018.
March 16, 2018 – France unlocked: Users in the European country began reporting signs of the Oreo update earlier today.
March 27, 2018 – AT&T US: Users are reporting in droves that the OTA Oreo update has appeared on their devices.
March 30, 2018 – Sprint and Verizon US: Oreo is now available for Sprint and Verizon users in the US.
April 1, 2018 – T-Mobile US: T-Mobile became the last major US carrier to roll out Oreo to its Note 8 subscribers.
April 3, 2018 – T-Mobile US: Spotted by Android Police, it looks like T-Mobile halted the Oreo update for its Galaxy Note 8 subscribers and has not yet restarted its OTA rollout.
April 3, 2018 – Unlocked US: According to multiple user reports on Reddit, Android Oreo is rolling out to unlocked Galaxy Note 8 units in the U.S.
April 13, 2018 – Unlocked UK: Samsung is rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to unlocked Galaxy Note 8 units in the U.K.
May 13, 2018 – T-Mobile US: The carrier apparently fixed the issues that caused it to halt the first update and started rolling out Android Oreo to Note 8 devices again.
Here, I made you something.
And your point is? ?
I'm on tmobile. It updated this morning
Yep. Got it at 2:30 am earlier today (T-Mobile)
From my perspective, that makes T-Mobile the *best* at updates, since they actually fully test them - and pay attention to feedback from early upgraders. When it comes to something as critical as OS updates, the last metric you want to score them on is speed of release.

Question POLL | I'm I the only one still on Security Patch Level: January 2023?

My S23 Ultra (European EUX OXM) hasn't been updated with the February 2023 Security Patch Level. I'm on S918BXXU1AWA6.
Though, I recently updated my S21 Ultra (AUT) and strangely it's more updated than my S23 Ultra .
2023-02-15 | 12:30 (CET)
EDIT: Added a poll in order see when the February Patch will be released.
No. You're not the only one
Sane for me too and my wife's 23+
they probably will releases an update before/on the official launch day (Friday 17th)

I'd love to see that.
We are sit on pre released software... wait until 17th for official release of the phones.
No one will be on the February release....apart from beta testers....until the release date.

Just install this apk [main components]
Main components 2023-02-01 S+, from apkmirror. Till this morning i had also only the januari update, now i am on the feb one.
After installing apk, force stop of Play store apk, Play Services apk, and delete both cache, then reboot. You should have the feb one.

I think you do not know, but there is quite major difference between google play and security patch.
Yeah I think it'll be tomorrow ah about 9ish, that's what happened last year anyway
Anyway, incredible that this device is so good with pre release firmware.
Imagine if with time they will further improve camera and battery life

You are right, my mistake
Samsung is a lot better with updates. The only reason you wouldn't get an update on time is if there's a bad bug that requires fixing and the update got pulled. Also South Korea obviously gets updates first followed by Europe. USA gets updates anywhere from 3-5 days to 1-2 weeks after Europe does. From my experience on previous Galaxy's it was always about 1 week after updates went out in Europe for my USA Galaxy to get updated.

I wish I could agree, but where I am, the security updates have been sporadic at best, last one in S21ULTRA was the January sec patch delivered February 21. More often than not in 2022 two security updates were delivered at the same time, almost 3 months later than the Pixel.
Oh I was confused glad I'm not the only one.

where are you from? I guess it also depends on your country since there may be special circumstances, specific carriers or government approval, ect. that is delaying your update since once Samsung sends out updates in S. Korea their should be no reason why you are not getting the update unless your country or your specific carrier is holding it back. It used to be really bad here in the USA but the last 3 years I have seen a huge improvement in the update schedule for Samsung devices.
my s23 ultra security patch Jan 2023.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G security patch Feb 2023.
no day one patch so far with the security patch for february
I think they decided the phone is perfect already, **** the updates
Yeah, just checked for new OTA software updates.
Also checked on Sammobile Firmware.
No luck
