Verizon just pushed Pie to the Note 8. T-Mobile last to Update for 2nd year in a row - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Just a friendly reminder that T-Mobile SUCKS when it comes to updates. For the 2nd year in a row they are the last US carrier to update the Note 8. Last year they were by FAR last to update the Note 8 to Oreo. They released and then immediately pulled the OREO update on April 1st and 3rd. They then held it until May 15. Hey T-Mobile! YOU SUCK!
2018 Note 8 OREO Updates Pushed:
March 27, 2018 AT&T
March 30, 2018 Sprint AND Verizon
May 15, 2018 T-MOBILE (SIX+ WEEKS LATER!)

Tmobile pushed Oreo on April 2, 2018. Not sure where you got May 15th from.

And they immediately PULLED the update a day later because they found a bug and released it six weeks later. Do better research.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8
March 12, 2018 – Canada unlocked: Samsung Canada revealed it would start rolling out the Oreo update from March 18, 2018.
March 16, 2018 – France unlocked: Users in the European country began reporting signs of the Oreo update earlier today.
March 27, 2018 – AT&T US: Users are reporting in droves that the OTA Oreo update has appeared on their devices.
March 30, 2018 – Sprint and Verizon US: Oreo is now available for Sprint and Verizon users in the US.
April 1, 2018 – T-Mobile US: T-Mobile became the last major US carrier to roll out Oreo to its Note 8 subscribers.
April 3, 2018 – T-Mobile US: Spotted by Android Police, it looks like T-Mobile halted the Oreo update for its Galaxy Note 8 subscribers and has not yet restarted its OTA rollout.
April 3, 2018 – Unlocked US: According to multiple user reports on Reddit, Android Oreo is rolling out to unlocked Galaxy Note 8 units in the U.S.
April 13, 2018 – Unlocked UK: Samsung is rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to unlocked Galaxy Note 8 units in the U.K.
May 13, 2018 – T-Mobile US: The carrier apparently fixed the issues that caused it to halt the first update and started rolling out Android Oreo to Note 8 devices again.

Here, I made you something.

And your point is? ?

I'm on tmobile. It updated this morning

Yep. Got it at 2:30 am earlier today (T-Mobile)

From my perspective, that makes T-Mobile the *best* at updates, since they actually fully test them - and pay attention to feedback from early upgraders. When it comes to something as critical as OS updates, the last metric you want to score them on is speed of release.

Samsung officially responded to this. According to the information provided, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 will unfortunately not receive the Android Nougat update. It should be noted here that Samsung has made a special campaign for the S5 and Note 4 owners to pass on to the next generation of devices, while the tests show that their performance for Nougat is inadequate.
According to Samsung official information, the Galaxy E series and the Galaxy Alpha, the forerunner of the A series, will also not receive the Android Nougat update.
maybe they will skip 6.0 and go straight to 7.1.1 for the Alpha, just like they skipped 5.1.1 lol

clearly you did not understand the joke, but even though a joke and even though Alpha users have lost their hope as long as Samsung doesn't confirm that they will not be releasing an update for ALPHA there is place for hope, I mean the S5 Mini finally got it, we're next. (I'm talking about marshmallow)https://www.sammobile.com/2017/02/17/galaxy-s5-mini-marshmallow-update-rolling-out-now/

sorry, I always get a little angry in the morning
Samsung disappointed me very much.
I bought a premium smartphone and received only one update and remains far behind with version 5.0.2.
Note 4 is still powerful enough to handle nougat, but Samsung will not update it due to business logics
My last device from samsung.
Its february 28th and im not still getting update on s6
Not quite sure what this thread has to do with the galaxy alpha and it seems to be turning into a sammy bashing thread so I'm going to close this up

You all should rebrand. I bought this mate 10 original (C636) said international..
I got two updates in less than a month of purchasing the phone. Huawei is faster than HTC 10 unlocked and way faster than Sony and Samsung ever was for me.
Ps. there's a thread for updates already, you know where..

No one really should have to do that, Huawei stated back end of last year that they will be pushing updates faster which is really not true. I am still on November security patch in the UK also. I bought Mate 9 and Mate 10 Pro only because I don't want to worry about battery When I leave home and it does give me insane battery life. However with the rise of security breaches, malware, adware and more having a secure phone is now becoming a priority than having long battery and as such I will be only using Google phones going forward.

Wow.. weird.. lol I stuck my Bell sim in and was actually surprised they gave me the APN settings but thats all.
That "three" sim sounds like bs. I'd be switching my provider.

Just got Mate 10 Lite, why is there no OTA Oreo update for RNE-L21.
I see news article from months ago saying Oreo update started. Any way i can force update or something without rooting or unlocking bootloader?
Not bad at delivering updates.

I have received the following updates in this exact order.
127 on December the 15th 2017
129 on 3rd of February 2018
137 on the 20th of April 2018
142 on the 7th of June 2018
145 on the 14th of July 2018
148 on the 28th of August 2018
150 on the 4th of September 2018
So all in all not bad to be honest...
P.S. I have screenshots if you want proof
But the biggest wait now is the android 9.... I am curious if we are going to get it before the end of the year...
Edit: I've spelled bad as bat corrected now.

We will. Though I believe it will come a while after mate 20 launch since they will want to promote new features. They would hurt themselves by showing customers "hey, we just released a big update for our old , now cheaper phone which brings newest os and tons of new features".

I believe L29 models will get updates fast. I'm in the U.S. and have both L09 (mine) and L29 (mom's) models and the L29 has been receiving updates periodically while the L09 just received 8.0.0.123. The L29 now has Face ID unlock and the L09, according to the Huawei rep, has no plan for that feature for the U.S. version in the meantime. Lesson learned. Buy the international version.

Galaxy S9 plus Unlocked Software updates

I just noticed Samsung released the August security patch for the S6 edge and the note 5.. what's going on with the S9 plus ? I've received 2 software updates since it's launch and I'm sitting on the June security patch.. any answers to why it seems like Samsung is abandoning the S9 line ?

Rumor is it's a quarterly release schedule.

Still no november update

I have a tab s7+ SM-T970, bought directly of Samsung in the Netherlands, I still haven't received the november update. Are there more people who haven't received the update yet?
In my opinion, the October update is the last one that was released...
I hope you don't mean that Samsung already stopped the support for this tablet

No, Galaxy Tabs are being updated every quarter AFAIK. The next update is to be expected probably in January/February, we might already get then the A12 update with OneUi 4.0
Until October I got every month an security update, it would be very disapointing for me if they already after 1 year went to quarterly updates for their flagship (and expensive) tablets
T975XXU2BUK6 + T975OXM2BUK6 november uptade only available for United Arab Emirates (Why? I don't know) for T975. T970 haven't got november update(according to samfrew). Sometimes Samsung skipping updates.

Question POLL | I'm I the only one still on Security Patch Level: January 2023?

My S23 Ultra (European EUX OXM) hasn't been updated with the February 2023 Security Patch Level. I'm on S918BXXU1AWA6.
Though, I recently updated my S21 Ultra (AUT) and strangely it's more updated than my S23 Ultra .
2023-02-15 | 12:30 (CET)
EDIT: Added a poll in order see when the February Patch will be released.
No. You're not the only one
Sane for me too and my wife's 23+
they probably will releases an update before/on the official launch day (Friday 17th)

I'd love to see that.
We are sit on pre released software... wait until 17th for official release of the phones.
No one will be on the February release....apart from beta testers....until the release date.

I think you do not know, but there is quite major difference between google play and security patch.
Yeah I think it'll be tomorrow ah about 9ish, that's what happened last year anyway
Anyway, incredible that this device is so good with pre release firmware.
Imagine if with time they will further improve camera and battery life

You are right, my mistake
Samsung is a lot better with updates. The only reason you wouldn't get an update on time is if there's a bad bug that requires fixing and the update got pulled. Also South Korea obviously gets updates first followed by Europe. USA gets updates anywhere from 3-5 days to 1-2 weeks after Europe does. From my experience on previous Galaxy's it was always about 1 week after updates went out in Europe for my USA Galaxy to get updated.

I wish I could agree, but where I am, the security updates have been sporadic at best, last one in S21ULTRA was the January sec patch delivered February 21. More often than not in 2022 two security updates were delivered at the same time, almost 3 months later than the Pixel.
Oh I was confused glad I'm not the only one.

where are you from? I guess it also depends on your country since there may be special circumstances, specific carriers or government approval, ect. that is delaying your update since once Samsung sends out updates in S. Korea their should be no reason why you are not getting the update unless your country or your specific carrier is holding it back. It used to be really bad here in the USA but the last 3 years I have seen a huge improvement in the update schedule for Samsung devices.
my s23 ultra security patch Jan 2023.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G security patch Feb 2023.

Yeah, just checked for new OTA software updates.
