[SM-T580][SM-T585][UNOFFICIAL] 20180906 Treble Project 64Bits - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series ROMs, Kernels, Recover

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
Process at your own risk!
If you want to check firmware - please make backup. Better to store all partitions, at least efs and may be modem.
As we all know - the tablet does not support treble. And we do not have a separate /vendor partition, i'm using /cache as /vendor.
Instructions
1. flash my twrp from link above - this is latest twrp with system_image support, it need to restore system treble images
2. download system image from https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development
Known Issues
1. rotate sensor working, but strange - on rotate tablet show black screen for a moment and then back to normal in right state
2. SM-T580 only: gps

Root
Use Magisk, it's should work. If during install Magisk give error about missed /vendor, run my prepare script and the install Magisk: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10JnOtyF5Y_4q1OE3FOZYPDcR7TK1jRhA/view?usp=sharing
GApps - Pie only!!!
Right now on T580\T585 pie images with gapps dnw, it's stuck on the start wizard, what is strange.
Solution: flash image without gapps and then flash gapps. It's working. I'm playing right now with aosp 9.0 and gapps.
We have 32bit recovery and right now standalone gapps think about arm and 6.0.1 version, what is wrong. I took gapps from https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/gapps-unofficial-opengapps-builds-t3828141 and fix script inside to arm64 and right sdk version, this is gapps with my fix, what should work on T580\T585: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kkHUPSznfibcER0DV89GhDdepEjqjCl9/view?usp=sharing
How install gapps:
1. install treble image, then pie system image
2. boot to system
3. restart to twrp and install gapps
4. boot to system, go to play market and login
For now working only this sequence
Recovery

You are amazing dude thanks so much for releasing this to us. Keep up the great work.

Wow, can you Do the same for the WiFi Version SM-T580?

This is by far the best news for our device. I am wondering if when we'll get official Oreo, Samsung will provide us with a treble rom as well.
Thanks Valera for you support.

I get "No OS installed"

Wow. Good job, my friend! I already want to try it on T580 wifi version. I remember that the roms of t585 work in the wifi version, can you flash this without problems?
Many cravings
Thank you!

just ignore this error. look like twrp not quite correctly handle the situation with restore via system_image and think that there is no system.

I can build version for t580, the kernel and almost all stuff is not a problem, question only in the gps. In the t585 it's connect to the ril, but t580 using own gps chip. I don't know, where I can get 64bit binary for it. In case of t585 i'm using proprietary bin\libs from a5'17. Need to check, can I use 32bit gps in 64bit system.
And may be can be a problems (not sure now) - all treble's images created for phones. tablet with lte is close to phone, but not a witi version. but in any way - it's need to check.

Nope, but I kinda forgot to mention that I use it on the T580

Hey, very good job. Please make a 580 version, GPS doesn't matter. You said it was experimental.

It's cannt work on T580 right now, because treble require changes in DTB. Without DTB changes system cann't mount /cache as /vendor and you will get boot before animation.
Will try build T580 today.

Please someone check version for T580

are your right now on twrp for lte? In this case in the gtaxlwifi-20180828-treble.zip - go to "\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script" and remove first line with assert
Or you can use my twrp repack for t580: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10LgZ1rabkgVSyIyd38BxIxNr22_9PJY5/view?usp=sharing
this is original 3.23 version, I added only system-image

TWRP 3.1.0-1 next for encrypted/ decrypted data
This post has been deplaced here. I'll remove it when the TWRP above will work for encrypted/ decrypted data.
Thanks for comprehension!
I'm glad, that we can help the Mate 8 community
Thanks for distribution ...
The themes are here now.
Thanks!
Thak you very much.
I have your "Boot_Insecure_B560_Fix-adb_dm-verity.img" installed. Do you recomend to go back to stock boot and use this TWRP for any flashing? Or shoud i stay in a insecure boot?
Sorry but this twrp have not decryption support.
Have you test it on Mate 8 with no formated datas ? and boot with no disabled encryption ? with untouched boot ?
On my mate 8 with encrypt datas it don't work
I don't see my internal sdcard
But I take this twrp and I changed some parameters and it work fine for me .
TWRP-3.1.0-0_Decrypt_Mate-8.img
But it must be used on really encrypt datas, not formated .
I flash suspersu on an untouched boot and system and I'm root .
Us there 2 differnt versions of this twrp 1 for decripted data and 1 for formated data ??

We can see what we can do with the both. A merger is perhaps possible?!
Edit:
Already it works with untouched boot.
With no formatted datas, it seems to me.

I make a new TWRP, but should be tested in the same conditions like @jac10000 !
Also, please @jac10000, if you can test my new release to see if it decrypt /data , thanks !
EDIT :
Please, @franzyroy - you should test TWRP with unmodified data, so if your data was modified by wipe or format, you should restore device to Stock Huawei Firmware N by /dload/UPDATE.APP method . Thanks !

The one I tested and working yesterday was with /dm-0 before you posted another version.
Anyway twrp-3.1.0-next-v2.img is working fine and decrypted. Using adb shell mount. it show /data is on /dev/block/dm-5 the same with the one I have tested before.
Edit : I got force reboot using twrp-3.1.0-next-v2 after 5 seconds
Edit2 : It's only stop force reboot when I got the "Unmodified System Partition" screen.
Edit3 : I see force reboot stop if there's no changes on twrp setting (example time zone, language & etc)
@surdu_petru
Yes I just test it this twrp-3.1.0-next-v2.img and like @dezx I have force reboot when I use TWRP File Manager

Thanks guys for feedback
I'll upload a new version very soon, hope will fix reboot issues !
I say that because :
I have no issues with a prerooted boot
It's also with Decrypted data boot
I can install a zip without to see an error
I see the internal storage
I can also see the size, not 0 MB
Only thing which doesn't work fine, when I mount the data, it's unmounted in the 5 seconds.

[KERNEL][41.2-41.3.A.2.24][G8231-2] Rootable kernel with disabled force-encryption.

It includes DRM patch and disabled force encryption.
Because fstab.qcom has been moved to system since 8.0, I cannot modify the boot image.
Some of you guys might have a problem with TWRP encryption password. With stock kernel, /data will be encrypted in a few boots even if you set no password.
About this kernel:
- Working camera (DRM-patch)
- Disabled dm-verity (so we can use magisk)
- Can mount /data in recovery (it means we can install magisk inside /data)
- Pass both safetynet
- You can still encrypt any time
- It will not decrypt your data. In other words, you have to do factory reset (wipe data) if it's already encrypted.
- See encryption status in Setting->Security

How to disable by yourself? - Not for Oreo
Prerequisite:
- 32-bit linux (you can use it on liveboot drive or VM)
It doesn't work on cygwin (windows) because of its native executable. So use linux 32 bit (i386), or 64 bit (amd64) with multiarch.
- Unpack using mkbootimg tool made by xiaolu (I tried kitchen and it won't work)
- Open fstab.qcom
- Replace "forceencrypet" with "encryptable"
- Pack again
- Done!
Thanks tobias.waldvogel and xiaolu for their awesome tools.
If you have any question, feel free to ask me or some nice guys here.

- You can still encrypt any time
You can download from attachment.
View attachment 4246515
It's not flashable zip, so please extract it before use.

In what order to I flash recovery, root and the kernel? (I've never used a kernel before)
Great, but you can just flash twrp-3.0.2-0-kagura.img instead of a newer version and it will work perfectly. For some reason the newer twrps for xz will ask for password to decrypt data
And can you make this for g231?

You have to unlock bootloader first before you can flash anything. Then just "fastboot flash boot <thatkernel>.img" in fastboot (blue LED). Recovery and root is optional. Normally, you have to use TWRP recovery to flash zip (su installer).
So, unlock bootloader -> flash kernel -> flash recovery -> install su in TWRP
Also, you can read detailed my tutorial here.

When you use 3.0.2-0, does it work while being encrypted? Or you have to do a factory reset to prevent further encryption.
Sure, I'll make for you guys when I'm free.
I've added G8231 kernel in the attachments.

I understood the issue was twrp saying is encrypted while you didn't encrypt it yourself, may have misunderstood but I didn't test it while I actually encrypt it myself. And thanks!
Everything is working fine for the kernel, I no longer get the green photos and I can download Super Mario Run (my go to Safetynet app), but when I try to boot into recovery to flash Magisk all I get is a black screen. I tried flashing another TWRP version and still get a black screen. I'm on the dual sim variant.
Even if this problem can't be fixed, thanks for the kernel!

The problem wasn't installing magisk, it was that TWRP wasn't installing correctly. Attempting to reach TWRP leads to a black screen. It's easily avoidable by booting the twrp.img through adb/fastboot (then flashing magisk there), I just can't install TWRP onto the phone.

Sorry I misunderstood your question, TWRP right now cannot boot in the normal way (from fastboot/adb, or even TWRP itself). You have to hold power+vol down at the same time.

[Treble ROM] How to install PHH-Treble (Android Pie 9.0)

WARNING: You'll most probably loose ALL your data, and might break your phone. Please use with extreme caution!
Before you start it's important to make a backup of your data you don't wanna lose.
I only have experience with installing phh-treble with TWRP, so this manual will be for TWRP.
Downloads:
First you have to download the image of PHH Treble (arm64) (Check this post)
After download just unzip the file.
(To know which version you need you can use the app Treble Check, if both of these blocks are green you need the A/B image else you nee the only A image.
The Mi8 is an only A image, but if you wanna know for sure you can use the app. )
In the PHH Treble rom there are no Google Apps (Gapps), so if you want the play store and such other apps of google you have to download OpenGapps Unofficial
After download just keep the file as zip.
The overlay patch for fixing the notch you can find it in this post
It's important to be on the latest MIUI version, doesnt depend on Miui V9 or Miui V10, both will work.
Installing:
Step 1:
Be sure you got a backup of your data.
Step 2:
Reboot your phone in recovery.
Step 3:
Do a factory reset with TWRP. (Go to wipe and just swipe for a Factory Reset).
Step 4:
Transfer the system-arm64-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img, the OpenGapps.zip and the treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk to your internal storage.
Step 5:
Go to install, tap on Install Image and choose system-arm64-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img
Select the System Image partition to flash the image to and swipe to confirm flash.
Step 6:
If you want root just flash Magisk V16.7 now and reboot, without root only reboot needed.
Step 7:
When your phone is booted successfully just reboot into recovery.
Step 8:
If you want the Gapps, just flash them now.
Go to install, tap on install zip if it's not seeing any zip's yet.
Select the OpenGapps zip and flash it.
(It might happen the Setup Wizard keeps crashing! You can fix this by removing the SetupWizard.apk from /system/priv-app/SetupWizard. Use the file manager of TWRP)
Step 9:
To fix the notch of the Mi8 you have to copy the treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk to:
- /system/overlay
- /vendor/overlay
Step 10:
Reboot the phone and it is ready to be used!
If you installed Magisk you can install ViperFX 1.7 to fix the crappy sound.
If you still have any questions, just ask!
If I can improve this manual, just let me know
Big credits to:
- phhusson: PHH Treble Rom
- Nezorflame: OpenGapps
This one is for me!
Current bugs found:
- Hotspot (Bluetooth tethering works!)
- NFC
- Notification sounds are a bit crappy
- Fingerprint scanner pretends to be an enter or select key

What kind of Gapps did you flash? I had the pico package, maybe it's because of the package type
Edit:
Flashed the Gapps Mini package and it does work now, but it's not using the IR, so in the dark it isn't working yet.
We still have to wait for the kernel release

It is possbile! Maybe I will also create a guide for going back from a treble rom to MIUI.
First time when I tried the PHH-Treble rom the Wifi and Camera didn't work so I went back to MIUI.
For now I'm really satisfied!
I've tried LOS and PHH 8.1 but my gps doesnt want to work on either.

finger print sensor is working fine and wifi. I've just had a problem with the playstore on LOS but that might just be the version of GApps they install as default

I've fixed GPS now as far as i can tell. After turning gps off and on a few times and a couple of other things its now working

Installed this ROM on my Xiaomi Mi 8.
Can someone explain to me how I can get the Google (Pixel) Camera to work?
I‘m rooted with Magisk, but I can‘t find CameraApi2 in the build.prop to enable it.
Is there a zip file I can flash or a special camera apk to install?

Can you tell if modpunk's twrp decrypts sdcard fine and backup /data ? If not, can you try without any password.
I've uploaded a xz1/twrp with latest August/Pie patches just in case https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603845086
Good you have cam on without hack, bad is still 4.4 kernel (4.9 is out); twrp re-compiled with Pie /vendor may do the trick.
Also what about Playstore/Setting/Certified , Widevine level , SafetyNet... (you can try app in my signature below to get all specs of your device ...)

Your latest recovery9cryptfs15-1omni8-1 successfully decrypts Pie update using swipe.
modpunk's latest sees scrambled folders, taking down swipe and device protection does not help either, it's all still encrypted(scrambled).

Have a nice one.
it keeps on coming.
I've got full root after flashing latest Magisk via @oF2pks recovery.
Now it's almost a full daily driver.

Guess what? There is no need for drmfix, no green images either. HDR is there too, though I doubt its potential.
See for yourself:
Root works after flashing latest stable Magisk. Got Magisk.apk from the original thread here on xda @topjohnwu (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445) and downloaded a flashable.zip from within it, using @oF2pks latest pie-able recovery(https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603845086) , I flashed it.
and then the final miscellaneous images before I restore to Oreo
Alright, now there's more information available from the last 3 posts.
Thanks to @oF2pks @topjohnwu @janjan @IgorEisberg @munjeni
Have a good one everyone!
I have it rooted with magisk too, installed the magisk selinux script that I had from 8.0 FIX/MOD THE Was.. I am not sure that is needed, but Apple music would not start.
As would some other apps.
The apple music I eventually fixes by going back to a version from apk mirror of begining this year... And block it from updating
Also had problems with firefox, had to go back to a version 61.0.2 from my titanium backup instead of the 63 version.
Maybe it has to do with the swift installer (theming), I am not sure, that one also works mostly.
N7 player was buggy from backup, New install did not find all my playlists, but restored again from backup and gebuild media library seems to have fixed it.
Gmail I had a problem with too, tried to remove it and get aan older version too, I am not sure of that did it
So there can be some app problems still
I had also error messages flashing the rom from flashtool, so it did not flash, but fixed it with copying and renaming the fsc file to 47.2.fsc made it work (and reinstalling flashtool but i think the fsc file was the solution)
The clock is on the left now, I hope someone finds a way to get it to the right again, or turn it off...

Implementing crypto support is not that hard as it seems, in the S23 family it should even be easier since you can just implement the official TeamWin QSEE scripts in your device tree. I imagine the big deal on S20/S22 is due to those device having an Exynos SoC with TEEgris TZ, but even in that case it should be easy to handle. What I'm more afraid of is that this device probably has Knox SDP in vold so decrypt with PIN/password set won't work, but it's better than nothing atm.

I was referring to snapdragon, and never worked. I used your implementation and device wasn't able to decrypt data. S22 was harder since data wasn't able to mount. I will wait for device, thanks again.

We can surely work it out to fix it
@afaneh92 it looks like S23 vold has no crap A11 code leftovers which does break decrypt with PIN/password on TWRP, I compared the vold bin with my A52s' one and certain stuff is clearly missing. So it might just work out of the box once support for it gets added

I hope so.
Nice work!
I followed the steps above, and when trying to reboot to system I get back to to twrp. Help please?
I just want to ask if anyone has tried installing viper4android yet and does it work? If it's like the s22 ultra and doesn't work. I might sound crazy but I wouldn't buy it. Music is more important to me then spen and camera although admittedly they are good to. It's mind blowing to think 1200 dollar won't sound as good as my Poco f3 or even my lg tribute 10 years ago.

I have exactly the same:
- after following all steps one by one there is only a reboot into TWRP itself possible
I compared the steps from this thread with the steps which are successfully working on my Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-galaxy-tab-s8-series-snapdragon.4455491/ ) and I see a difference at step 7:
7. Flash custom kernel and magisk apk in twrp.

I do not see any "custom kernel" to download in this thread (at least for now) so I think this is the missing part. Or it only works correct in combination with "dr.ketans rom" (which I do not want to use for now).
@afaneh92: Thank you very much for your work (on "root" and also with "twrp")!
Edit: I just read the installation pdf from "dr. ketans rom". There is written in red letters:
DON'T run multidisabler from TWRP termial/zip or any system-rw script after flashing ROM else device won't boot.

So maybe the not booting system is related to the work which the "multidisabler" should do.
I will be happy if there will be some light regarding the non booting system after flashing TWRP.
Maybe I will give "dr. ketans rom" a try and have an eye on this thread how the things go on.

@Techguy777: This is very offtopic but I am with you that "Viper4Android" is a very important part also of my daily used tools. I just have found a (for me) good running workaround.
Search the fDroid store for the app "RootlessJamesDSP". Depending on which parts of "Viper4Android" you care about, the app is an extremely good working replacement. In my example, the "Convolver" with the impulse response files are important and that works wonderfully with the players I use.

I will go back for now to (rooted) stock ROM and Recovery and will have a look how this thread will go on.

Sadly flashing "dr.ketans rom" (or the "unroot" one, for that matter) doesn't fix the problem for me. Ironically everything was working fine with "dr.ketans rom" alone, but I just had to try disabling encryption. Well I suppose better is the enemy of good.

I just flashed the orginal FW from samfw.com and my S23 Ultra is booting correctly into the system. Now I will try the current "S918B_WA6_DrKetan_ROM_T02". It seems that TWRP is build in into the ROM. If this works I will try a backup & restore of user data (this is the most important part from TWRP for me).

After flashing my ROM + Format dara (Read changelog) TWRP backup/restore data should work as expected. And for that purpose mentioned in OP

Yup, flashing the full ROM works. Many thanks, and keep up the amazing work!

You have convinced me of your ROM. After flashing I had to reformat "data" but afterwards the system booted correctly.
The ROM works very well so far and the additional functions via "ROM Tools S23" are also good (especially that they can be selectively enabled and disabled).
Backup and recovery of user data has also worked flawlessly.
So now I can start with the actual setup of all apps.
Thanks a lot for your work!

I have seen many users don't want "custom" roms, but my ROM will have complete stock look + single click all critical fix. It won't force users to use customised look. Also it have more options to make modifications in ui but everything will be by user's will.
