FAQs
Q. How boot on recovery?
A. With the device turned off, press power and vol- at same time until it vibrates.
Q. Does it works with stock or custom ROMs?
A. At this momment I know that it is fully compatible with stock ROMs (or stock based ROMs) but at this momment is not tested with custom ROMs, so you users have to test it and report.

Installed the TWRP 3.2.3-0 on CarbonROM 6.1 (Android 8.1). So far so good, seems alright to me.

Yeah but the question is if this recovery works for flash custom ROMs, I know that it work perfectly with stock roms, if you can test it and report here, I really apreciate.

Just tried flashing the latest Carbon and it worked for me. Haven't tested flashing stock ROMs myself though

Just tried to install the zip on my Z3 compact.
My phone has full encryption enabled (complete including the sd card).
Your build of TWRP is not able to decrypt the phone.
It always tells me "Password failed, please try again!" even though the given passsword is correct (I can start the system with the same one).

amazing
Installed on OMNI with TWRPapp, flahed Carbon and then RR.
All it was fine and, finally, no "Error 7".

Thank you for this!
I have a question, I have encrypted my device (CarbonRom cr6) and now when I try to access TWRP I draw my security pattern and I get a failed to decrypt message.
The pattern is the one I use on a daily basis to use my device so this is related to TWRP. Any suggestion?

Maybe this twrp has a problem with support encription?

Carbon ROM expects TWRP with ro.build.product or ro.product.device equal z3c (not aries) . Modified original image using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...because-of-empty-system.3554252/post-85881113

For Lineage (18.1), this (3.3.1) TWRP version is recommended, but it seems to have issues preserving the survival scripts (e.g. of Magisk) over OTAs. Unfortunately, the device isn't supported on twrp.me

Hi, I cannot seem to install GApps properly. I've attempted to install stock, full, mini, and micro, all to no avail. All of them say that I have insufficient space in my system partition. For every attempt at a different GApps flash, I've reformatted my system, and before starting the entire project, I've done a full wipe. If I could get some guidance it'd be much appreciated.
Hello @weilunt0219
Please try Pico.
I am able to get Gapps to install with the micro, but when my nexus boots, I get "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped." and I can't do anything. Tried using pico and it does the same thing.

I am thinking about the TWRP image described in THIS thread.
But I am also open for some other custom ROM:s, as long as its pretty easy to install since I am a newbie . I recently rooted my S7 edge and now I want to do the same with my old N10. Could be nice though to try some cool ROM when I´m anyway need to wipe the tablet to be able to root. But as I said I am a beginner, never flashed any ROM:s before, only rooted.

I use the Scanno TWRP 3.0.2-0 (stock TWRP 3.0.0-1, 3.0.1-0 and 3.0.2-0 have a SELinux issue and shouldn't be used but stock TWRP 3.0.0-0 is OK).
OmniROM 6.0.1, which is pretty close to AOSP.
OpenGapps.
For rooting, just flash a recent SuperSU with TWRP.

Backup-Restore function working fine so far, only issue I am seeing is phone is heating up pretty faster than before while backing up in compression mode.
Another minor thing is that earlier when entering recovery mode a purple light used to blink, now its missing.
Just saw this now and I'm really grateful. Big ups to you, man. Great work.
And I was afraid there would be no 3.2.1 for this device;
@Chippa_a makes it possible - intensified thanks! :highfive::good::good:
Thank you!!
I can't flash the zip because twrp does not give access to that part of the storage, weird.

Weird. Try using flash tool to fastboot the image if the flashable zip doesn't work for you.
Updated from TWRP, backup/restore works, no problems so far apart from it needs more than a minute till TWRP GUI appears after boot. Thanks for update.
Do you use the stock kernel? I installed the recovery built by oshmoun in the omnirom thread. It uses the aosp kernel. It starts faster, has a better sdcard naming and can flash oem images. Maybe you could try this kernel.
I use stock kernel (Pexorom 4.5) so this may be the reason for the delay.
I mean the kernel used with the recovery, not the rom kernel.

This is what i did. Download img, place file on phone. Download twrp app, pick choose a file, browse to recovery.img, flash. Power off, boot to recovery = win.
Reboot to system, retry installing new update = great success.

Sorry, I didn't get it... kernels everywhere.
However, flashing with fastboot leads to the same delayed start. Strange.

I dont know if there is a connection, but i've tested the recovery with OmniROM 7.1.2, where display is not responding. It can be installed, shows 3.2.1, but display remains dead 4 touch.

Same result, whether fastboot or flashtool, display is dead.
Certainly missed ODM LOIRE v12, v11 is installed.
Not really sure is the latest bootloader.
Does restoring a backup change the bootloader as well?
Edit: Solved: the answer is 'yes'.
3.2.1 does not work @7.1.2 restore because of outdated bootloader.

What I do not understand, maybe bootloader or encryption, but why is 3.2.1 not backwards compatible on Suzu?
Is Omni 7.1.2 kernel (more I have not tried) or not current boot loader the reason?

Hi! First of all I wanted to thank you for your work, I managed to install latest Mi A1 PE without any problem and perfectly running!
Second, is there any way to update the software without clean flashing and repeating the whole procedure? Like idk, dirty flashing updated boot and system?
Anyway, thank you again!

Question How can I flash miui 14 recovery rom?

Hello,
a couple days ago i noticed that there was the first miui 14 build (miui_ENUMA_V14.0.23.1.4.DEV_006a58c7f8_13.0) available. Since it's a recovery rom i'm struggling to find a way to flash it.
I saw an unoffical ofox build in this forum but the download link didn't work.
I hope someone could help me.
Thanks
The only method to flash recovery firmware is by TWRP or OFRP custom recovery. Right now there is none of these availble for enuma yet. So only fastboot firmware that is possibly flashed for now. I already flashed the latest fastboot firmware and installed A13 GSI ROM.

There are other options to possibly flash .zip patch file by using Xiaomi ADB in this link or Xiaomi Tool in this link. I tried this on my Windows 7 PC but not able to flashed any .zip files. Maybe Windows 10 or above may get this to work well. There is also Linux version for these tools. You can try it too.

It's GSI ROM not Custom ROM for any specific device. You can google GSI ROMs and look for the ROMs that you like the most. I also flashed this ROM to my Redmi K30 5G.
But if you are using such Xiaomi peripherals as pen or pad keyboard, GSI ROMs do not support them. You need to look for the Custom ROMs that are built for your device to support them.
I don't have any Xiaomi peripherals. So using GSI ROMs makes no differences for me.

crDroid 9.2 - Android 13
(EX: "PixelOS ROM Android 13 With GAPPS". ROM not deleted, downloadable: sourceforge)
(The first 7 comments were about the previous PixelOS, ignore them.)
There's no guarantee nothing, don't use it if you don't know what you're doing!
SAVE your DATAs before!
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed (TWRP is the preferred recovery (or any recovery with FBE support). [I'm not using Fox recovery, I'm not going to give you advice.])
Unfortunately, the ROM turns on FBE encryption for the time being, I will try to solve it (maybe).
If you want to revert to another ROM, you may need to format the data partition!
twrp-3.7.0_Szancso.img is my work. Download link: with ROM.
(Previous version to TWRP not working, use 3.7, or any recovery with FBE support.)
Boot into recovery
Wipe system, vendor, data, cache partitions to clean install.
(If your /data partition secured, maybe need format /data if you want to use this ROM.)
(If you are upgrading from a previous version of this ROM, you do not need to wipe the /data, but you need to wipe the Dalvik and Cache. If previous version encrypted, maybe need format /data.)
Flash Rom in TWRP (sideload or copy any storage)
Flash (Nik)GApps (Optional) [I'm not using GAPPS, I'm not going to give you advice.] (NOT TESTED!)
Flash Magisk Root (Optional) [I'm not using Magisk, I'm not going to give you advice.] (NOT TESTED!)
Reboot (If TWRP warn that there is no system, it doesn't matter, go reboot.)
First boot may take up to ~1-2 minutes.
I'm not using this ROM, I'm not going to give you advice, no support (or slow), sorry.
