Is it worth Buying Armoured (Kevlar) Edition of 8GB 256GB or Else 6GB 128GB is fine? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Guys i am planing to get 256GB Armoured Editon varient . Is it worth buying or should i get 128GB Varient. ?

Stick to 128 version imho. Even with kevlar this phone needs a case cos of the exposed screen edges and GG3. And if 128 GB is not enough u can always pop in an sd card which is much cheaper than paying the differential

64gb is the best choice. i dont think it's worth paying that much extra just to get more storage. i'm a power user and even i can't fill up that 64 gb storage completely

How much of 64gb is available to the user?

I have a few apps installed so i think its around 54 GB free . 7.7 GB is reserved for system.
And around 3.7 GB is free out of 6GB while the phone is idle only with data on.

Hi.
Where is the best source where we can order poco armoured edition?

If you have a budget of kevlar version buy asus zenfone 5z instead. It is much better choice . Have better camera and build quality.

Of course.. if you've got a budget.. i., Too , am willing to go 256 + 8 + kevlar.. 128gb nowadays.. for me.. is a bit inaedquate.. as im an app-monger.. ???

The version 6GB is acceptable too.

Depends on how much is the Kevlar 256/8 gb variant?
Honestly, save some cash and go for the 128/6 gb with a nice armoured flip case.

I am an app-monger..
And i also dont know how to use magisk modules that uses sd card as my obb and data locator...
So my 128/128. Is starting to be full. Plus im a certified
historical korean drama addict.. so i have tons of it on my phone.. as well as my huge flac compilations...

We need a 8/128 version.

Is armoured edition producted anyware? We have many standard offers on aliexpress, but armoured is absent.

Dude save your money! Google and Microsoft give you tons of free storage. Get the cheapest Poco and enjoy

I bought the 128GB/6GB variant but if I had to choose again I'd go with the 64 GB version and just get a cheap 64 GB SD card. Since Android Pie can use SD cards as adoptable storage you effectively end up with 128 GB

Not sure how to set it up in MIUI but I use the Google Experience ROM and when you insert the SD card for the first time you get a popup asking you if you want to use the SD card as adoptable storage and if you choose yes then you can also store apps and other data on the SD card (it will do so automatically because the system just expands the internal storage)

The clue is in kevlar material. If i will buy glass or alluminium phone i will break it in my pocket. If i want to use something bigger than my z3c it have to be kevlar or i will have to select xz3 and stay with sony for next years.

I have the Kevlar version it's really not worth the extra money just get standard one and a good case
people think because kevlar is bulletproof its good it really is not on a phone its a gimmic

16 gb | 32 gb

Which one will you be getting, and why?
The 16gb or 32gb?
I understand that with the difference in price between the 2, its cheaper to just buy a large microsd card for the 16gb.
I am leaning for the 16gb because I have never even been close to filling up 16gb on my atrix or s2 .. but I plan on having this phone as long as possible, so am considering the 32gb
16GB + 16GB SD, because I don't use more than that.
i'd get the 16gb version with a 64gb card... paying about £100 extra to go from 80gb to 96gb is too much in my opinion, in a phone that's already expensive itself.
For me the difference in price between 16 and 32 would be $50-60
I want the 32gb just to have that extra internal memory "just in case" but if the 16gb becomes available in the next week or so I'll probably spring for it instead. Reason: I want that damn phone. plus 16+64 should be plenty for me. 32+64 would be better but 16 will do. 64gb? not holding my breath for it.
Heard that the phone now 'Knows' that an external card is present and will download files to the external...if so, a 16 will do for me.
About the speed read/write of internal sdcard: 64GB >>32GB>16GB.
But there is no 32GB/64GB right now!
I ordered the 32GB from my carrier
Reason: 32GB for same price than 16GB one...
16 GB since it is more than enough space and music will be on cloud or sdcard.
I just read that N.O.V.A 3 has 2gb of content to it
Wow, we are going to see apps start abusing our memory options in the next 2-3 years
Bought a 16 gb GS3 and installed a 16gb class 10 card which I was previously using with GS2
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III using xda premium
I'm going to get the 16gb because its cheaper and can't get the 32gb version where I live.

I heard the installed software and os is massive.. so for a 16gb version, u get 10gb usable space. (much like that of motorola atrix)
I normally keep 2-4gb internal free for app/os updates swap files and unzip occasional large files, as my sdcard is always filled with media files.
That said, i would still have 6 ~ 8 gb worth of space plus media on my sdcard.
Go for 32gb or 64gb would be more future proofing, as applications are getting larger and larger. If the cost is not by alot, its worth considering the 32gb.

future proof provided if u r not those who change phone every 1 or 2 yrs. else. 16GB + 64GB microSD would be a better choice.
else u r just paying extra for keeping those extra space for nothing. For games, yes the size might increase due to graphic. but for apps.. dont think will get so high as 500mb or more
Might be leaning to the 32gb now since I plan to keep the s3 as long as I can. My first BRAND NEW phone in a while. I might actually store music and videos on it.
(also with games like NOVA 3 requiring 2gb of space.. lol)
I'll be buying the 16GB version since Samsung won't be offering the other two where I live. And that's Central Europe, btw - LOL!
Hopefully the 64GB card from SanDisk will do. But NOVA3, damn you're fat!
Don't forget there is 50GB storage on dropbox for 2 years with every SGS3
The 16 gb one, unfortunately. Id rather get the 32 gb one, but it's not available here. Oh well, im going to get a 32 gb micro SD so, it should be okay anyway.
If it would've been a phone without an SD card slot I as well would have considered the wait for an 32GB version. However it has an micro sd slot so spending more for the same phone with more memory is essentially F.U.B.A.R. Unless of course everything on yer phone needs to be faster then fast, I'll say go for it.

[Q] 16gb vs 32gb version.....is it worth the extra money?

About to purchase the tmobile galaxy s 3 and ive noticed they come as a 16gb rom or a 32gb rom. Not sure if it is worth the extra $50 or not. What do you guys think? Not exatly sure what the benefit in the long run will be if so. Please explain if possible, thanks.
I don't think it's worth the extra $50. If you really want 32GB, you could just buy an external microSD card and stick it in (up to 64GB I believe). I got the 16GB phone and put in my 16GB microSD card which costs much less than $50 these days. Plus, you'd have do wait until they get the 32GB version of the phone.
I dont think its that necessary. You can expand with a microSD card up to 64GB, and you also get 50GB of DropBox storage when you buy the phone. Im just gonna get the 16GB White model when it comes out.
I'm noticias 100% sure in S3 case but usually internal memory is faster than external cards. You must consider it.

IF you have the need go head. IT all comes down to it.
In my case, I need the internal storage for 1080p videos, pictures, apps, data apps.
And then I use the microsd card for my 35GB music collection. (Yes, I like to go around with my entire music collection in my pocket)
So for me, my choice is 32GB Galaxy S 3 and a 64GB microSD card.
isn't $50 already a bargain for double the storage? last that i remember the phones were $100 more.

the reason everyone is going bat**** over the SGSIII is because of the microSD slot. there's absolutely no reason for you to get a 32GB phone since you can pop in a 64GB microSD card if you needed more space. better question to ask yourself: what is the capacity of your current phone? if you maxed out, double the space and that's what you should be aiming for on the SGSIII. :good:
If you have to ask, do you think you need it?
I've a 64 GB µSD card whose limits I'm already reaching. $50 is a lot for 16 GB but it's not a question I need to answer.

For 50 bucks of u plan on keeping the phone for awhile id say get it.sucks when u think about or like ur paying 50 for a 16gb sd but when u consider 1st that its 16gb that u will never be able to expand to any other way and 2nd Apple would charge like 200 bucks for that extra space it makes the sting a lil easier to swallow.now of they made 256gb sd cards it would be a different story lol but since we are limited in how big of a sd card is available I'll take that extra 16 err 14....whatever ever formatting gb any day for 50 bones.nothing worst then running out of space

that's a CLASS 6 (SIX).
I plan on keeping mine for 2-3 years, so the more storage the better, so to me a 32gb phone with a 32-64gb sd card makes a lot of sense, but it really only matters what you want/need it for

What sd card should I get?

I'm looking for either a 128gb or 256gb micro sd card and I want to have the same experience as using the internal storage for recording 4k/superslowmo and using apps on sd cards.
But I don't want to overspend either, I don't know up to what speeds/classes the phone can utilize.
There's cards like Samsung evo plus 128gb for 60euro, cards like lexar 1000x 128gb at 95 euro with UHS II Bus all kinds of things I got lost in the sea of classes and speeds.
What cards did you guys get and can anyone recommend me something?

that was the fastest card available when I bought it, nothing was faster with high storage. I see 256gb cards now but haven't really looked into any or the specs
I got Samsung Evo+ 128 GB UHS-I U3 (100 MB/s read, 90 MB/s write) for 55 euros (just google MB-MC128GA/EU - NL Samsung site for this card) . There is also 128 GB Adata Premier One UHS-II with read 275 MB/s, write 155 MB/s for ~150 USD. 256 GB version is for 289 USD (amazon) - dunno why, but in Czech it is for ~210$ ^^. In your case, I would go for Samsung

I'm disappointed with XZP's sdcard access speeds, especially when the sdcard encryption is enabled. With my Samsung Evo+ 256Gb I got the following speeds:

Have you tried any other micro SDs or just the Samsung Evo+? I was thinking about getting the 2017 one, Samsung Evo Plus 256GB, but it seems like it will probably be the same, I think the only difference between that 2016 version is 10MB/s on Read speed. Would be interesting to see if certain cards do better than others, I would like to know if a A1 rated card also has this problem.
Hey guys. Thanks for all the helpful input. What would you say is the primary benefit of the additional storage of a 128GB to 256GB SD Card? I feel like on other phones without expandable memory, I never really reach capacity on 64GB models. So I probably used more cloud storage out of necessity and just got used to it. What are you guys using all this glorious storage for?

4k por... Oops I mean scientific ebooks etc.
All jokes aside... Having that bit of extra storage can give you the freedom to record, capture and download as you please!
Especially for people like me who hardly use online storage. I have the Samsung Evo Plus 256gb (2017 version) and I have so many 4k HDR10 movies and documentaries stored on it. I also dont have to worry about running out of space by constantly shooting 4k videos.
Having higher storage takes away all the limitations of having to transfer your files whenever you need to download new material.
I'm getting 72mb/read and 40mb/write even though the Micro SD card is capable of achieving higher speeds. This is due to the phone and I hope that android will find a way around this with upcoming updates, unless it's a hardware issue of course.
These speeds are more than enough for regular everyday use as I haven't faced any issues with reading/writing colossal files.
Hope this helps

As I tried to point out, I suppose the majority will most probably have the 128 GB model because the 512 GB costs 200$ more and offers no real added value because who needs 512 GB of storage on a phone?
Additionally the 512 GB version wasn't in stock at first/released later I think
For better understanding and communication I recommend www.deepl.com/translator it's really good at translating meaningful and contextually aware.
i opted to get the 512GB. i knew 128 gigs wasn't going to be enough for me. unfortunately i destroyed my screen while out to eat and am waiting on getting it repaired.
Mine is 128gb.
Last phone was s7 with 128 memory, and the whole 2 years I had it, it didn't reach 100 gb mark, so i think more than 128 for me is overkill.
I would suggest just using a flash drive and otg it

honestly i dont know. the drop punched a circle through my glass screen protector and completely shattered and destroyed what i assume to be my digitizer. and the nearest asus repair center is three states away from where i am in the USA
Everything I do on the phone is mainly streamed or stored in the cloud I just went for the 128gb version as the only things taking up a little space are the handful of games. Always been fine with the 128gb iPhones and iPads so never needed more.

Worth the extra $$$ for 8GB of RAM?

Stuck on the fence between the two options. Storage space isn't as compelling to me as I already have an SD card for expanded storage.
What's everyone's thoughts? Worth the extra cost for 33% more RAM?
Save your $
with the price drops at best buy it was only 30 dollars difference so I opted to return the 128gb model and get the 256.
The biggest issue on an external memory is: to slow, not all things can moved on the SD Card. Internal less memory let lost the fun of the tablet. Thats my experience of the last years. About this one I move to the 256G part

you need to buy cards marked U3, not U1 that guarantees minimum 30MB/s(240mbps) write speed. That's what I buy for shooting 4k 60ps drone footage which tops 120mbps. They are still not as fast as internal storage, but for movies and other data files they are great.
The card is only the half way. You can used the fastest card of the World, if the interface to the card id slow. The tranferrate to and from the SDCard ist one of the negative point of the galaxy tab S7 in the technical reviews (Could be better for this device)
You can compare this with a SSD on a SATA2 .The SSD could be faster , but the tx/rx rate from the hardware is not faster and brake the performance
abso-smurfly worth the cost if you do heavy video or into multitasking and using DEX. if you do lite email and occasional gaming, its not worth it. but im a power user and the extra 100 dollars was pocket change for me to gain that extra ram.

well running benchmark U1 vs U3 I'm getting 90/70MBs(u3) vs 70/40MBs(u1). Which is close to the quoted max rate on the card. Now that's nothing compared to internal storage which I'm guessing is true SSD which tests out at nearly 1GBs, which definitely makes the extra 128gb + 2 GB of RAM a great deal for 30 dollars.
Still the U3 card is a solid performance boost.
Thanks everyone for the input, appreciate it.
Considering the price difference isn't that much, I decided to go big.
One thing I'm a bit bummed about is that the 256GB model only has one color option - I realize it's just cosmetic but I would have liked the mystic silver option. I'm just limited to the black option.

Hm, what area of the world are you ordering from? Here in the US, the 256 GB model is available in silver. I have one, and it's also showing as available in Samsung's store.
In Germany the 256G version are in black, silver and bronze available
After a week, I'm glad I went with the upgrade. Ended up paying 700 even for the 7+ and got 50$ GC on the side and the speed of the internal storage is amazing. Add to that the extra RAM. I like Black
If you're asking about RAM - don't worry. 6 GB is plenty on the tablet. I was worried at first too but after having 6 tabs open on Chrome, YouTube vanced in picture-in-picture mode, and Microsoft Word open - there were no delays or lag. Ymmv, but I don't have any issues.
That being said, if the difference in price is about 30-50$ I'd consider it. The added RAM makes it more future proof and if you don't need a MicroSD card with the added base storage, then you come out on top since the external storage just isn't as fast.
