Unbalanced, Distorted and very low sound from earphones while playing PUBG - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

When using earphones in the POCO F1 to play PUBG, the sound is distorted, unbalanced and is way too low even though the sound/audio is set at 100% (In game & In System), Otherwise, the sound output through earphones in every other app is very good. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any one know a way around? I don't think mine is a defective piece because all other apps provide a very good output.

Yep. Updated to 9.6.18.0 yesterday and screwed pubg for myself. Before then was working fine. Curse you Xiaomi. You don't even know this bugs you add with each update.
How can it affect just PUBG and not other games?

Even speakers ? sucks. I can hear the sound if the volume is around 80 to 90 % and no sound at all (very minimal, only can hear if speaker kept close to ear) when volume is below 50%.
You guys have this problem too?

Hey, guys! I'm experiencing the same issue with volume and sound quality through headphones when using apps like Soundcloud and TuneIn Radio. And when I pause the music and unpause it, it plays at normal volume and quality for like 1 second, then it gets distorted again. It's odd, because in youtube the sound quality and volume seem fine. I'm using KZ-ATES in-ear headphones and the phone is on the lastest firmware (MIUI 9.6 Global Stable 9.6.18). I've tried tweeking some sound options in the phone settings and searching for some extra audio settings in the Developer Options (didn't find any), but still no change. I've send my feedback to Xiaomi, hoping for a quick fix.

bluetooth sound issues

hello guys
i wanted to ask you if anyone hears the bad bluetooth sound quality from the htc one x+.
maybe i'm just to audiophile, but the sound on (good) bluetooth speakers sound terrible.
i read alot about it and found out a few things:
-i heard the issue is in the so called "bluetooth bitpool setting". manufacturers always this setting to low, so there are no problems with the connectivity, but the sound quality is bad. so the sound quality of the stock rom is really, really bad. i'm talking about listening music. specially the high frequencies are sharp and crashing...it sounds like a very bad mp3 file.
now there are custom rom's with fixed bitpool settings. i tried out a few ones and there is actually just one rom that haven't this bad sound:
cyanogen mod 10. all the oder rom's have this sound problem: cyanogenmod 10.1, android revolution hd 6.2 and stock...
do you know this problem? would love to use more rom's with good sound

I also have this issue when listening to BT audio music in my car. I haven't tried any ROMs yet to compare.
From my brief amount of research it seems to be an issue that only pops up between specific hardware. My phone sounds great in some other cars but not in mine while the HOX and iPhone5 sound great in my car.
Just an update. I am running Elegancia's latest ATT release and it appears to have fixed the problem for now.
Just another update.
It appears audio is perfect upon initial pairing but after disconnecting the audio distortion comes back the next time the phone is automatically paired.
Why would it sound fine the first time you pair a device and then sound different the next time it connects automatically?

PUBG experience

Going to order the 6-64 version this week. How is the experience while playing pubg ? I saw various people complaining about the multi touch thing and audio bug. And if there are bugs, they will be fixed via updates right ?
PUBG runs like butter no problems and also no heating, but while using the free eye icon it vibrate the screen but that's not big issue it will be easily fixed in next update.no sound issue. I play on extreme settings with screen recorder on, not yet noticed nay lag just go for it.

*Maybe* somewhere in devfs.... like /dev/input/touch/ or something, idk.
Could probably find a PID for the device somewhere.
I do not have the multi touch issue but my aim in PUBG still sucks
Anyone who does not have problems with touch in the game can record video in the game using the built-in screen recording?
I played PUBG in my phone for more than 13 hours. No problems. It runs Smooth. Audio is also good. I'm on 9.6.14. No touch issues too.

I did not want to hurt you. I described only the skill in this game and only. That person really is not able to notice problems with touch because of his bad game skill. But I see the problem perfectly in video.
I already have a phone. Here is my video of the problem:

I struggle to draw everyone's attention to this problem. Otherwise it will not be fixed. Because it's still not fixed in the xiaomi redmi note 5 636.

I have the touchscreen bug while playing Pubg. Its annoying at the beginning but soon you will get used to it and compensate for the ****ty aim. I have a KD ratio of 5.2 in crown 5 and I am able to get +10 kills with the poco in pubg. So you decide if you want to buy it based on that. About the digitiser issue and poco using two different drivers is there any proof of that? I haven't seen anybody talk about that.

Is your poco chinese or Indian version. I have an Indian version and there doesn't seem to be any edge screen touch detection in my unit. It might be possible that poco is using two different digitzers in their chinese and Indian models. But I haven't seen anybody from Xiaomi say that.
And Huawei p20 seemed to have suffered the same problem with touch latency and sensitivity and it has been fixed with a firmware update.
Anyways I am going to root the phone in the next 72 hrs and mess with the build.prop values for touchscreen and see if it fixes anything. I will post what I find.

Headphone Jack Sound Quality of Mido

Hi everybody,
Been using Redmi Note 4x for about 10 months now, and I love the phone in every way except the audio quality. Since I don't care much about the speakers, I am referring to the audio quality from the headphone jack.
I will try my best to articulate the problem so that you can understand my frustration. I would like to know: 1) Anybody else facing this? 2) Any sustainable solution?
Before Redmi Note 4, I have used a Moto G(2nd gen) & Moto X Play, and both had pretty standard audio quality, which is to say: Basic, Clean & Enjoyable. I use a Soundmagic ES18 (which is PRETTY Good, and gives a V-shaped clean sound output, very enjoyable).
Redmi Note 4 is just different in terms of sound, I don't know what or why, but after 5-10 minutes of listening, my entire body starts feeling irritated, almost as if I have been getting very mild electric shocks. Needless to say, as far as music is concerned, I am a very unhappy customer. I love music, and I just have not been able to enjoy. Plus, I don't know if my eardrums have been damaged in any way (i listen at very moderate/low levels).
I am trying to understand, is this something wrong with my particular set? If so, I have some time left in warranty to get it fixed. But if it is the sound signature of Mido in general, then has anybody come up with any solution to this? Mi Forum seems to suggest many other users complaining about the same thing, even though people describe it differently.
As I mentioned, the music listening experience is one of physical irritation. GSM Arena shows how Mido has a clean output, though it is very soft from the headphone jack. Since I use V4A, I boost the playback gain, so that is not the issue, the issue is that something about the sound signature is such that music is not enjoyable. Treble seems unnecessarily sharp, Bass feels unnecessarily synthetic & bloated, Mid-range is too harsh, and therefore, overall, the audio output is really bad, to me.
My girlfriend has the Redmi 3s, my father has the Redmi 4x (from my recommendation), and I have a MiPad. My girlfriend's and father's phones have a pretty enjoyable sound signature, so does my tablet, even though my tablet has a softer sound output, but none create any irritation. I have tested the sound from all these devices with the same earphone (ES18), and without turning on any EQs. These Xiaomi devices have a little different sound from my Moto devices, but still very enjoyable. Mido, however, is really bothering me.
Please feel free to engage with me. I am only looking to confirm what is the issue, and find out potential solutions. Please help me to enjoy music on this phone...
Thanks & Regards
Hi man! I've experienced the same issues...i didn't find a way to obtain a good quality sound. The best solution for me is to:
-try to have flac songs with high quality
-Use dolby Atmos (discovered in mi-globe rom v 9.5)
-modify the mixer.paths.mtp.xml file to increase maximum volume (i had a very low sound, with my headphones on and max volume set i can heard people talk around me)
But these are just "tricks"...i think that the hardware is the real problem!

Question about headphones volume level on latest Pie stable rom

I'm currently on MIUI 10 10.0.6.0 and I have my phone region set to United Kingdom but the volume in headphones is 20% lower then if the phones region is set to India

First off, thanks for replying
This wasn't an issue on the last MIUI 9 stable ROM but for some reason was introduced on MIUI 10 stable ROM. I just don't get why it's lower for us but not for people who have their phone region set to India. I haven't tried to set my region to any other region apart from my own (United Kingdom) and India
I brought a pair of 1More Triple Driver In-Ear Headphones to go with my phone and was very happy before MIUI 10
I get the feeling no one knows lol
Don't know if this is the reason, but a few years ago the EU set sound level limits on personal music players:
https://blog.mediamusicnow.co.uk/2015/03/23/eu-commission-control-volume-mp3-players-ipods-other-players/
It may be different again now but it would explain things.
If the volume is louder when set to the India phone region it would tend to point to the limitation being in software. I'm sure I've heard of apps that can give you greater than 100% sound level.

Thank you for replying. I would think that was the case if this also happened while running MIUI 9 but it didn't so I can't see that it is.
I do use PowerAMP to listen to music so I guess I'll just have to increase the volume that way but doing so wouldn't that distorts the audio?

I suppose it would depend upon how much you increased it by; you could take the level up to at least of the Indian phone region level. If you can't hear any noticeable distortion at the sound level you feel comfortable with then it's not going to do any harm to anything.

True but it's only a quick fix for audio/MP3 only. Doesn't fix the fact that it also affects audio for videos also.
Please set your region to India and play some music and videos then change it to United Kingdom and play the same music and video again and you can hear how quieter it is

There do seem to be Android apps in the Play Store that claim to increase volume for media, ringtones, etc. I don't know how well they work but it may be worthwhile investigating.

[MAGISK][MOD] Stereo Speaker Mod For Mix 3

The original module was created by acervenky over in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/themes/mod-speaker-headphones-volume-boost-t3828314
And whilst it works for the Mix 3 it breaks the proximity sensor. This modified version restores the functionality of the proximity sensors.
I also added 3 variants, each makes the earpiece louder and louder. Use the loudness 2 and 3 at your own risk. Loudness 3 increases the overall max volume of the device by about 25% in my testing.
Note: MIUI only. Whilst it works on AOSP based roms it breaks bluetooth audio.
updates
Update 1
Loudness 2 & 3 fixed, should now actually be louder
Installed, worked well .
Will try louder and loudest later
