EU Rom based on Pie 8.9.13 now out! - Xiaomi Mi 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Here you go xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8_8.9.13_v10-9.zip
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904006631
Edit: The notch is a little bit weird. It's a little above the physical notch line.
fastboot getvar anti = 1

Thank you anything else you discovered, will install it later as well and give feedback
Better take this link, I get 12MB/s

Can we flash 8.9.13 for Mi8 with OTA? Or should we first wipe everything?
Is it based on Android Pie 9.0 or not yet?

Thanks but slow download

Yes, backup your important data first.

Should I format data before or after install? Do I need to factory reset if I format data?

For me no bootloop, just dirty flash and no problem, before i use xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8_8.8.30_v10-8.1

1. Backup your important data.
2. Format data from TWRP.
3. reboot to TWRP again and put the rom on your phone, then install

For me, this is what works best when upgrading clean:
1. Do a local MIUI back up
2. Titanium backup of user apps only
3. Reboot to recovery and do a factory data reset
4. Flash ROM and boot
5. Restore local MIUI back up
6. Restore missing apps in Titanium back up
7. Restore DATA only for all apps.

Cyanogen 10 bootloop

i have a little problem:
i just installed cyanogen 10, and all went great, except it won't do anything
it's just the blue icon on the start, and it's like that for hours, until the battery over
is there something i can do, or is complety bricked?
Doesn't sound like everything went all that great then!
What recovery did you use to flash the ROM? Did you wipe the device as per instructions first? Can you reboot into recovery mode? What ROM were you on before?
Just as a tip, you'll have to provide more detail and show you are trying to resolve the problem or you will find yourself on your own more often than not...

well, i'm kinda new to this, so i used this post on xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803593 (my samsung tablet is 10.1, not 10.1v, i don't know if it makes the diference)
there was step 7 that says:
7. Once in recovery: clean cache & clean dalvik cache. (I did a full wipe to be sure I don't report bugs to pershoot which are linked to data problems).
and i remember clean cache, but the dalvik cache i couldn't find it
the rom i had was the same from the store, androind 3.2 i guess
and yes, i can go to the recovery mode, what can i do?
The first thing you shouod always to before flashing roms is make a backup in CWM recovery. If you have a backup then go to restore in recovery and restore it ans start over. Dalvnik cache is in the advanced section of CWM recovery. So is format system if you need to that per the instruction provided by the rom's OP.

i didn't made a backup, so there is any file that can bring the old system back (android 3.2) ?
or is it possible to do directly on the CWM menu? (if there is, how do i do it? )

Your going to have to use ODIN to get back to stock 3.2. Use the Unrooting process outlined I this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR SD CARD PARTITION. From there, reflash clockworkmod recovery with ODIN, but use the one provided by pershoot on his blog if you plan to flash one of his experimental CM builds. Goodluck! Follow all steps carefully, perform all necissary wipes. Oh and the first thing to do after you flash clockworkmod is perform a backup!
---------- Post added at 01:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
I think the links in the thread I gave you might be dead. If so you need the US 3.2 tar file. You can get it at sammobile.com.

Also this is KIW-L21 KIW-L21C432B340 correct ? Does it include stock recovery or no ?
Thank you very much. I will try to Restore this and give you info if it work
It's restore without problem. But it's the same issue: Boot loop.
PS. Why in boot logo, first letter changed to red. When i'm bricked my phone all of letters were white. Maybe I should install C185? I'm from center of Europe.

I'll tell you what I did and you can decide if this contains stock recovery. Me device came with C432B140. I downloaded C432B340 and used the dload folder to upgrade. I then flashed twrp onto the device and took a backup. So I am not sure if stock recovery still exists in the file. I am an amateur so I am not very sure. But if you think this will help others then yeah sure you can post it to the file depot. Glad to be of help.

If you bought the device in europe then why do you want C185 ? If I understand it right C185 are middle eastern models. I bought my device in Germany if that info is of any help to you. As far as the boot loop and the red letter goes, I am sorry . I didn't face any issues.

I take advanced wipe and i checked: System, Data, Cust, Dalvik, Cache. And now i'm restored this backup: System, Data, Boot. Next I wiped dalvik/cache factory reset by TWRP. And reboot to system. And the same, I'm waiting and nothing. Can you do backup with cust, EFS and Recovery? Only with them.

Stock recovery cannot be backed up with TWRP as it is replaced once you flash TWRP. You also cannot use EFS of other phones. It will destroy your IMEI.

You can backup stock recovery by booting TWRP and not flashing it.
And you are correct DO NOT RESTORE EFS from another phone to yours.
/cust is ok just not oeminfo or efs1 or efs2
All this talk is mostly useless he is going to need a full update.app of B340 to get his working. I know it sucks waiting but he made many mistakes along the line before he came here for help.

Honor 9 NO OS installed

Thing is, i did a factory reset in the Phones settings and it got me to TWRP i forgot i had that, i tought i had stock recovery, so it removed the whole OS for me, so now im here with no OS.

Can i use any rom to flash trough FASTBOOT?
or should i get an SDCard and put a rom on it ?
had the same.problem last week and it drove me.nuts. if you have stf l09c432 version there is a b130 service firmware. you can put it on micro sd, format it exfat which is important due to size and then press vol up, vol dn and power simultaneously. recovery will install and phone will boot for sure with stock recovery. the only way which worked for me. capacitive bhttons are dead which is the downside of this method.

More suggestions are welcome, i dont have an SDCard right now, and i want it to work so i can sell it.
for me this was the only firmware that worked after no os. i tried huawei multitool. this has an unbrick section, all it does is flashing cust, boot, data, recovery and userdata in the right order using fastboot flash cust cust.img for example. didnt work i tried flashing all parts with fastboot flash command on my own including vendor.img etc. still never worked.

[RECOVERY] twrp 3.1.1-1 by OpenKirin [FULL DATA DECRYPTION]

Hi, I know there are some TWRP images shared in this subforum but we felt like releasing our own, so that it remains updated and we have control over the source.
This is TWRP 3.1.1-1, nothing you haven't heard about, regular TWRP. The special part of it is that it supports data decryption.
What do I have to do for data decryption to work?
Just remove the screen lock (pin, password, pattern...) and it should be decrypted automatically, don't forget about this!
Whenever you've finished, you can set your password again, but it should be removed every time you want to decrypt data in TWRP.
You can download it here (provisional, I'll find a better way)
Have fun!
Just awesome
So, Can we take full Nand backups from TWRP now?
Hi, I l already have a twrp installed but I couldn't take the full backup as I got some error as reported by a lot of other users. So, If I flash this recovery, will I be able to take full backups?? Can I flash this TWRP using my already installed TWRP or do you recommend command line? Appreciate your work and thanks in advance.
I guess you can flash it from anywhere you want, backups should also work fine.

Not working data still encrypted cant flash anything system always remains busy
I tried to make a backup partition BOOT and DATE. Everything turned out well after I restored it perfectly, but I confirm there is an error "the system partition can not be unmounted" system busy
Dear Developer @XePeleato
Tried on BND-AL10 with following findings.
1. Several times Backup Error
2.Failed to Unmount system
3.Failed to write backup on Internal Memory (i think decrypt failed)
4.Does not memorise the setting eg. enable compression, skip md5, also everytime asks to modify or keep system read only prompt.
after getting error during backup 5-6 times, this twrp managed to create a full backup. however i did not try restoring backup because i dont know unbrick methods, also stock rom has not released yet.
Can anyone conferms if restore works perfectly or not?

Yes, but I did this only with the BOOT, DATA sections. After the restore, everything worked exactly the same, except that the authorization of Google was deleted. With the SYSTEM section it does not work as "SYSTEM BUSY". However, you can backup / restore the SYSTEM partition through another TWRP. Here is the confirmation (in Russian, but I think it's understandable) 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?act=findpost&pid=70660590&anchor=Spoil-70660590-1

Whenever you've finished, you can set your password again, but it should be removed every time you want to decrypt data in TWRP.
You can download it here (provisional, I'll find a better way)
Have fun!

If you can re-upload the files because the link is dead, I think I'm not the only one who need this.

View 10 - BKL-L04 - Bringing it all together

My phone is an Honor View 10 model BKL-L04 (American model) build 8.1.0.133 (C567GT).
These are the steps that I used to remove the stock firmware and recovery and replace them with something more to my taste. I did < 1% of the actual work here, I'm just putting everything that I did in once place so that other people may not have to look so hard to find answers.
Requirements
View 10 - If you don't have one then you're in the wrong place. Do NOT follow these directions for any other phone as both the directions and the links are specific to the model mentioned above.
Cash/PayPal - Most of us don't have the skills to pry out the bootloader unlock code ourselves so we must pay someone who does. God knows the manufacturer isn't going to help us out here
SD Card - You can probably get this done purely on internal storage, but weren't you going to put in a nice, big SD card anyway?
SD Card Writer (optional) - You'll need a way to load files onto the card prior to flashing. IMHO getting an SD card writer is the simplest way, but to each their own.
Unlocking
This guy will get you an unlock code for your View 10 for $22 (USD). Order a Bootloader Unlock Code, select the Huawei option "with IMEI", put BOTH of your IMEI numbers in the comments field, submit it and pay via PayPal. I got a code in about an hour. Once you have the code you can follow these directions to perform the unlocking process. If you need a bit more help getting though it then try this guide.
Flash Recovery
Don't use the official TWRP images. As of Dec 8, 2018 neither 3.2.1-0 nor 3.2.1.-1 worked for me (-0 dropped to fastboot after a few seconds and -1 caused a bootloop when entering recovery). Use the latest unofficial image from this page. Directions included. More detailed directions can be found here but make sure to use the TWRP image from the first link.
Copy Zips
Now pick out a ROM (I went with LineageOS 15.1) and copy all the zips you need to your SD card. The list probably includes the ROM itself, gapps, and some type of su/root package. Put them all on your card.
Flash ROM
If you're going with LIneageOS 15.1 as I did then this guide should get you the rest of the way. It has the links for the ROM itself as well as gapps and the su package. Again, be very careful to match exactly your phone model and architecture (arm64 for the View 10) when grabbing these packages.
Extras
You can find the latest stock firmware image for the BKL-L04 here. Be damn sure your phone matches mine before you use it! If you need to pull out the stock recovery for any reason, you can use the update extractor to do this (grab recovery_ramdisk), then flash it the same way you flash TWRP.
Good luck and have fun! I'll try to help if you get stuck but the real knowledgeable people are those that wrote the articles I've linked to.
Cheers!

Is "twrp_bkl_0.7.img" the latest one?
As of Dec 9 I believe it is, yes.

I didn't have that issue when I was first flashing the ROM, but I do now. If you're having it prior to flashing your ROM would it be because you didn't wipe & format beforehand? The guide I linked in step 5 leads you through this procedure if you need it.
As far as the unmounting error, I think that's something we'll have to live with until the issue is corrected in TWRP.

I think it works if you wipe/format first. The guide I linked walks you through this.

Hmm. Well, you can either try one of the official builds (here) or wait for the guy doing our customized build to fix this issue. You might even post a note on this thread describing your issue so that he can track how many people are having it.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. The View 10 is not the easiest phone to work with by a long shot.

You have told that you have formatted your device, if you have formatted it from twrp it will cause issues, you should format it from emui system settings.

I need to do it in TWRP if I want to install a custom rom --> Where did you get it ?
Currently available TWRP are buggy and are causing issues.
