Please help me ROOT my MT6737 Phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,Namaste.Regards from India!
Last September,I bought a new phone called the Kult Beyond and it was a good phone for the Price. It's a little under $100 and myself being a student, couldn't really spend too much over that.Previously,I had an iPhone 3GS which I rescued from a recycling Center for $30 bucks,4 years ago.iOS 6.1.6 Jailbroken and was a lot of fun.But soon enough,I found it to be lacking in many aspects. So I bought this new phone,My first Android phone and I was OK with it for a while,But soon enough,I realized that it's very average and software optimization is kind of missing.3GB RAM and at idle,Only 900MB is free. Then I found it's all that System Bloatware which cannot be removed.I then learned that with ROOT,We can remove them! Also learned that Root can allow to mess with CPU/GPU Voltage and Clock settings which can help with battery life as well!
But I ran into another problem - Media*******Tek.I tried MONTHS of rooting the phone using various methods right from KingRoot.etc and NONE worked.I read that the newer MTK-equipped phones are very hard,near-impossible to root compared to Snapdragon due to many reasons such as the Mass fragmentation of MTK-Based devices.etc
Here is the specsheet of my phone
Device I.D - 33DE8604CFF9E987
Serial Number - K1950A1X77150008
Kernel Version - 3.18.35
MediaTek MT6737 Quad Core 1.25Ghz CPU
3GB RAM,32GB ROM
13MP Front and 13MP Rear Camera with Dual LED Flash
3000MaH Battery
Android 7.0 Nougat
Can anyone here please help me root my device so that I can atleast try to fix the sluggish performance at times due to some unwanted System Bloatware using the Memory and CPU Excessively ? Thanks a lot!

[Q] huawei mediapad 7 lite

Hello everyone I just started New Thread for our new device Huawei Mediapad 7 lite
1 rooting
2 cwm installing
3 custom rom
4 bricking
5 unbricking
6 .................?
I got rooted my device with unlockroot tool u can get it from official web unlockroot.com
now I am testing to flash cwm recovery by using a lot of method but not passed ,
I think this device hasn't download mod
but there is official way to flash official firmware with dload ( inside : unlmt.cfg ,update ) copy dload folder to sdcard and just reboot ,
and there is the way to flash cwm recovery.img by entering fastboot mod but when I did it I got problem that my pc doesn't recognize device even installed all drivers related .ie fastboot ,adb and usb driver . Any advice ! Thanks
My experience on this device
1 No proximity sensor u can not use flip cover to screen on off
2 No hdmi port
3 No flash light
4 No phone speaker the voice only come from back speaker and headphone
5 No auto brightness
6 No fm radio
And if i may add something:
A 1.0Ghz Cortex A8 CPU with Vivante GC800 GPU that is good but has a very poor gaming compatibility.
I put the CPU speed in bold because the tablet is announced everywhere as a 1.2ghz, including Huawei's site, but that's not true. I will be returning mine tomorrow after i complained about this at the store. The store contacted Huawei and their reply was:
"we are sorry for the mistake, the MediaPad 7 Lite has infact a 1.0ghz CPU instead of the announced 1.2ghz", etc, etc, etc. But despite this statement, the device remains announced as a 1.2ghz tablet.
The tablet is well built, and not as slow as some reviewers say, but i can't trust a company that does this kind of stuff. Plus, they don't seem to plan to release JB for it (not even ICS 4.0.4)
Anyway, i wish the best of luck to anyone that is willing to develop software for it, i know from experience that everything is possible here at XDA.
Sorry for spamming a bit, but i think everyone deserves to know this.
Sure, it isn't the fastest tablet out there - but for what you pay, it isn't bad either. From what I have seen around here, you can install an overclock-capable kernel and get some decent speed out of it - and the build quality isn't bad at all. I use it (stock) to play a few games, such as Mini Motor Racing, and check my social networks when out and about - and it does those, and YouTube streaming, just fine.
It would be nice to see something like Cyanogen support this little tablet. I don't think Huawei will.
sow bad

[Q] Galaxy S3 clone. Please help a newbie who's willing to learn

Hey guys,
This is my 1st post here ever.
The only time I fiddled around with rooting an android phone was more than a year ago when I had an AT&T Samsung infuse. I followed very detailed instructions on how to root it and upgrade it. It worked like a charm and I'm so grateful to all of you experts trying to help newbies.
A friend of mine went to China last month and brought me a Samsung s3 clone.
The phone is factory unlocked BUT
1. It doesn't have the original google play application. It has a similar logo which leads to a Chinese app store.
2. Google mail account application is missing
3. The phone supports only Chinese, Korean and English languages. (I'd like to use it in different ones)
So I need to re-install a good Android version that has all the Android features that I'm missing
I thought it would be easy to find instructions on how to do it it here, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky to find a direct and clear step -by step instructions for my phone model
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300
Model #: mtk6515_ics2
Android version: 4.0.4
Base band version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V14
Kernel Version: 3.0.13
[email protected]#1
Build Number: ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1.18
Custom Build Version: V15.12
Please help!
Is there anybody out there?
Is there anybody out there? :crying:
Hey man,
unfortunately I don't think anyone can help you rooting/changing roms as it's a replica and there isn't a real development for it.
BUT as for the play store you can DL the apk directly from here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/14/download-latest-google-play-store-4-1-6/
As for the phone language, after installing the google play store look for:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale&hl=en
and choose the language of your wishing. That is in case that your phone supports it.
If you mean by google mail account the gmail app then in that case:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ith-slide-out-navigation-and-brand-new-inbox/
BTW for future references - try to make a search for yourself I'm sure you could've find those in less than a minute
Cheers.
Thanx
Thanx a lot for your effort and concern.
I downloaded the latest google play apk, I installed it, but it wasn't working apparently because "google login service" and "google services framework" were missing too!
So I downloaded them, but they needed to be installed in system/apps.
I downloaded "root explorer" which should help me accessing the system folder.
I copied&pasted the apps in system/apps but a message says "your phone should be rooted first in order to paste" came out.
So back to square1
On the other hand, I tried to disactivate some of the annoying Chinese applications that came with the system using "root app delete", and guess what?
I get the same message that I should root this phone first.
So how can I root this bloody thing???
Yeah that is sounds pretty frustraing..Well I guess you won't find here a "how to root s3 replica" guide and personally I wouldn't try and rooting the device as it could easily brick it.
I suggest you go to the store and tell them that you've got a phone with no option to download apps, or connect to your Google account...
Hope you'll sort things up with the store soon

I wish I could follow your advise. The shop is 4000 miles away in China.
There is a google store app installed, but it's fake. It has a similar icon but with different proportions. The problem is that it's in Chinese and it deals with chinese applications.
Oh that is unreachable, but maybe can you contact them via Email etc..?
Anyways I found this thread I think you'll see it much more beneficial than my help as I don't have experience on rooting replicas and it's focused on your device:

If you flash recovery from different device, there's a big chance you brick it
Try to use MTKDroidTools to root it, its pretty safe.
As @lolet said correct, you can possibly brick your phone...
That's why I advise you to ask in the thread I've linked onto, there are fellows there with much more experience than myself with rooting your device.
I guess in the last couple of years I've flashed hundreds of times but only on samsung, htc and motorolas.

Huawei device "ptrace" implementation issue

Being a no good dirty cheater, I'm a big fan of Game Guardian and I use it with great success on my HTC U11 phone. I recently discovered that it can be used without root, by using a virtualization environment such as Parallel Space or VirtualXposed. As I haven't rooted my M5 (SHT-09), I downloaded Parallel Space and GG and got it all running. However, I've found that I cannot make any edits to game memory space from within GG.
The are a number of posts on the GG forum suggesting that there is a bug (or security feature) in many Huawei device cores / firmware that relates to the implementation of the ptrace system function call. Something in the firmware seems to prevent the GG process from modifying the child process memory space using PTRACE_POKETEXT or PTRACE_POKEDATA.
The suggestion of the developer of GG is to "change the firmware so that there the ptrace system call works normally".
Anyone aware of this "feature" of Huawei device firmwares? Is there / could there be a solution to modify the firmware to "fix" this behaviour?
I saw you posted on my thread. Thanks for that. I wanted to see whether flashing a different kernel like Serenity would help. But i doubt it. Might be worth a try. Would have loved to know that beforehand. :/ Any other ideas? What I am seeing is that it needs a competent developer to recode the Kernel. I would then flash that patch. Other than that it is defined as unfixable. That we'd have to change the device. :/
It's the main reason that I haven't rooted / unlocked the bootloader, as running GG is pretty much all I use root for on other devicxes. And the fact that rooting / boot unlock kills Widevine level 1 support, which is madness on a 2k device like the M5. Wouldn't want Netflix streaming SD content only.
From what I understand, which isn't much, the issue is buried deep down in the kernel. Not sure if a custom kernel would solve the problem or not. Knowing XDA, I'm sure someone will be crazy enough to try it at some point in the future!

Yeah I get that, but some games dont have a cloud feature. Making parallel space useless. Plus I appreciate some other root features. I have a note 8 which should work GG without root, but I'll see how it goes. Oh really, I'm a big time stream fan. I havent tried Netflix with root yet . Should still work tho. I think. Hmm well, problem is all kernels are made for devices like the mate 10 or the P20. Not sure if they will work with the M5, wouldn't want to brick after all the trouble. [Edit, found the nextflix module apk. Can flash that with Magisk. Makes it work again ]

Alright guys, I found this out today (I'm also Kr1msonReaper on GG forums);
Huawei kernel prevents GG from working in Android Oreo HOWEVER-- If you downgrade to Android Nougat, I find that it works perfectly. Hope this helps!
Just a note, when you are, of course, debloating Nougat, make sure to disable Huawei system update app so you don't find yourself in Oreo the next day.

How do you downgrade to nougat? Any reason not to do it? And will I retain root ?
I actually like Nougat more than Oreo as it fixes issues such as the ptrace error and seems to have more battery optimization. It's been a long time since I downgraded to Nougat and since then I got a new phone but here's the tutorial I followed. @mrmazak has helped me out of se sticky situations and his tutorials have never failed me. https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/guide-honor-7x-flash-oreo-update-t3781649/amp/
I believe you will lose root but you can easily flash magisk again after installing the downgrade package.
Hope this helped!

I am not sure this would work on the Huawei mediapad m5 tablet. As far as I can tell it never had a nougat firmware to rollback too. I looked for sht-w09 and the all the files appear to be for Android 8 and none for 7 nougat. Unless I am missing something??
Other than they locked out ptrace stuff and that it appears unlikely to get Android 9 in the US for my mode l its a pretty good tablet. Maybe I should just sell it and move on to a tab s6 that can be rooted.

Hey! You're right I couldn't seem to find a nougat downgrade. On the bright side, I did find a Pie update for your model. Who knows, maybe ptrace will be fixed in that version?

Galaxy Folder 2 (SM-G1600) LineageOS questions

Got my hands on this device and would love to gift it to my mom but currently it has a really bad software with no native language which is a must. Since its a spare device I have laying around now I thought I could experiment on it and see if I could get a Lineage OS running on it. She is only gonna use the dialer, messages and possibly the camera so Play store and other apps are not needed.
I have some experience in modding and flashing but i've never ported a rom or created a rom for that matter so this will perhaps be my 1st one.
I've read through tutorials and all but feels quite overwhelming (maybe i'm reading at the wrong places or misinterpreting) but i'm hoping to fill that gap.
So the questions I have, is it possible to flash firmware from a similar phone with some minor changes and hope it'll work or is my only route to extract firmware blobs from phone and use that to create a LineageOS of the same android version with all the other steps required?
Phone has
CPU SD425 Cortex-A53 1400MHz (MSM8917)
GPU Adreno 308 500MHz
RAM 2GB LPDDR3 667MHz
16GB Storage + sdcard reader
TFT Screen 480x800
Android 6 is current version (Marshmallow)

Impreza thank you for making me rest.....I've been surfing online finding answers if that tablet can be rooted...please let me know if you guys found more info..thank you
Bought this thinking it was an upgrade from my Galaxy tab a 8.0 but since it's one ui core it's missing many features. Trying to trade it in now but it's past the 15 days. There's no smart view to mirror to any tv easily, theres no network file manager in my files (can't access G drive or any others).
Just make sure you know what you're buying. It's not lite because of being smaller than A7, it's a stripped down OS and the features can't be installed afterwards (have tried many apks). I didn't want a big tablet, wanted a mid size tablet with upgraded CPU.

I agree with that. If you are sure you know what you're buying, the experience of the A7 Lite isn't bad. One UI Core is the same stripped down OS in the regular A7 (Snapdragon 662) and in the A7 Lite. CPU works very fluid if you tweak some settings (default One UI animations are awfully slow). Battery lasts A LOT (8,5-9 hours SOT). Smart View was removed and changed in all One UI devices with the upgrade to Android 11/One UI 3.0 (regular and Core), and it was replaced with Google Cast native screen mirroring (ergo Chromecast).
Use Solid Explorer or Amaze if you want to access network file places. It works well on my side.
Despite being a Mediatek tablet, you wont't find anything MTK-related in the tablet. Samsung has its software very well masked. And I think that, in Helio P22T, Mediatek vulnerabilities have been fixed with security monthly patches.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that I successfully rooted the tablet using the same method for the Lite as the regular A7 using THIS GUIDE. Obviously it tripped Knox but I needed it rooted for my use case. One note is that when you download the stock firmware with an application like Samsung Firmware Downloader, make sure you choose the correct Model and Region. These can be found in the settings on the tablet.
Is it possible to enable Google Discover for default launcher?
I bought Galaxy Tab A7 Lite LTE SM-T225 3/32GB and it works quite nice. Small and good device. Would be cool to see on it clean Android or LineageOS (fingers crossed). There is not too many ~8 inch tablets today with the latest Android version.

Yes it can
I've been working on porting TWRP for AOSP Android 11 to this device but have run into some roadblocks.
I currently have TWRP running but touch is not working and I can't seem to get Data R/W with the current tools available. It's possible it's an error in my build or maybe a workflow problem.
If anyone out there with more experience is doing the same or wants to help me sort some things out, please let me know.
I purchased the SM-T225 LTE 4/64GB model, a good device, but there was a problem on the latest T225XXU1AUH5 & UI3 firmware, specifically with a modem... after the end of the call, the mobile network disappears, and after rebooting Baseband Unknown Flashing does not help, only resetting the data helps, but before the next call... The device had Root rights, but is now installed stock firmware and blocked the bootloader, but the problem remains... At the same time, if you install the old modem UDA,UE3,UF2 , it works without problems... Has anyone encountered anything like this?
My only disappointment is that knox is included. I came from tab A 8.0 2019 which has no knox

I have a SM-T225 LTE 4 / 64Gb model. 64-bit model, 3 / 32Gb variant is the same in parameters, except for the amount of memory ...
Screenshots from the Phone Info program:
Bought one earlier today for a second screen for browsing while I'm gaming on the laptop. Got way more than I expected for such a cheap price. Debloated and tweaked, I really can't complain.
