Slow Motion video problem - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hello, guys! I had a serious issue with the slow-mo video of the G5..The problem is that when i start recording and the colors are changing non-stop..
The colors goes like the warmth go down..Did anyone else have that problem and how to solve it? Any ideas?
Unfortunetly i can't show u the video i found in youtube witch is the same problem like mine...

It's due to the automatic white balance, try using manual camera mode (there are some threads in LG G5 Mods Section that explain how to enable manual video if you don't have a custom rom) and manually set white balance, resolution to 1280x720 and FPS to 120.

Yeah, this is a good idea, but it needs root and the phone is not rooted...other idea? Because really am wondering what are the good and the bad things into rooting the phone

Any kind of modification to system apps require root. You can use other apps that allow white balance for video, such as Cinema FV-5. Even though the profe$$ional version has much more controls for color grading, in free version you can manually set and lock the white balance. From the user manual:
On supported devices you can lock the automatic white balance algorithm.
Auto white balance lock.
If the white balance is set to auto, when the toggle is active, the automatic white balance algorithm will stop running, keeping the last calculated scene temperature. Tap again the toggle to unlock it and recalculate the scene color temperature.
Tip
If you usually record clips with the white balance locked, you might find more comfortable to have Cinema FV-5 to lock the white balance for you automatically during the clip recording. To do so, activate the option Settings > Video > Lock white balance during recording

I don't remember if that app can take slow motion videos though.

[Q] Lock Exposure, Shutter and ISO?

Since the SGSII has a pretty good camera I was wondering if it is possible to manually lock exposure, shutter and ISO settings?
With a full HD resolution I would like to get some nice filming done but without the camera automatically adjusting settings. It ruins the look.
Maybe there is already software out there which I havent found?
Cheers!

The main thing is seems that you'll want to do is to manually adjust the white balance rather than keeping that on Auto.
Exposure lock: There's no exposure lock. However, you can manually adjust the exposure value. So if you want to shoot something bright, you can lower it. If you want to shoot something dark, you can increase it.
Shutter speed. There's no way to manually adjust the shutter speed. (So you can't capture something like a waterfall with slow shutter speed to get the motion effect.) Like most non-DSLR cams, the shutter speed is automatically adjusted depending on lighting conditions, flash, and ISO.
ISO. Yes, ISO can be manually adjusted.
The cam is great and can probably replace most people's dedicated point&shoot cams. But it's definitely not as versatile as even a budget DSLR cam.
The camera changes exposure wile you are shooting. That my problem is.
When I walk out of my flat with my camera switched on I don't want to see the automatic exposure correction. Dunno how to describe but have you never seen the effect when you pan from a window to your wall? It must be possible to lock these settings to eliminate the automatic correction.
What I like to see as an option is the autofocus, I got lot's of refocussing in low light conditions when focus was actually perfect
Also would be really awesome if you could set the exposure time to image starry nights, I mean, the device is called Galaxy is it not
Unfortuanely I am not a developer so I cannot contribute to these options and can only hope some cool devguy with the knowhow has the same wishes as me

[Q] Camera app that will enable to take photos one after another, like in iphone

Hi,in my SII,I take a photo and I must go back to take another...
In my friend's iPhone,he can take a several photos in time I take one.
How do I change it?
Thanks.
I don't have to go back, after taking a photo I can just take another one, so I don't quite get your problem....
When I take a photo, the next screen that shows up is the photo that I just take.
In iphone,I have the ability to take another photo because the photo that I just take are saved...

How did you manage that? I find it annoying how the picture disappears as soon as I take it. I've looked through all the camera settings but cant find how to leave the picture on the screen.
K if you turn review on you will see the pic you just took, review off let's you take multiple pics.

There is no such option in my phone's camera settings. I only have the following:
edit shortcuts,
self portrait,
flash shooting mode,
scene mode,
exposure value,
focus mode,
timer,
effects,
resolution,
white balance,
iso,
metering,
outdoor visibility,
anti shake,
auto contrast,
blink detection,
guidelines,
image quality,
gps tag,
save as flipped image (grayed out),
storage
and reset.
Is there another set of settings that I have missed?
could it be the Rom I'm using (Simple+&+Clean+v1.3)? however, I've used other Roms in the past and have never seen this option

between guidelines and image quality, I have a 'Review' option. Set the Review option to OFF.

Dark scenes difficult too see in movies

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and it's great but I can't figure one thing out. Which is the screens contrast. Dark scenes in Netflix or VLC player are too dark and hard to see. I tried different brightness settings, with/without blue light filter and the other color correction option for cinematic mode but nothing really works properly.
Is this an issue with the tablet or is there another setting to change the contrast or something?

I also noticed this with Netflix. Was hoping that turning up the brightness would help but it doesn't.
YES, YES, YES, I am shocked this isn't widely reported, I couldn't find almost anything about it and I've been searching for quite a while.
First of all it is really crazy that popular apps like plex or netflix don't offer any capability to change the brightness of the video played. No, we don't change the colorspace, black levels, bla bla bla.
I DID find eventually a solution (the ONLY one that works, a bit clumsy as it is): http://phandroid.com/2016/03/22/twilight-app-reduces-dark-contrast-on-samsung-galaxy-s7/ (yes, it's for the S7 and yes I did notice there the same issue, which makes it even crazier that it isn't something widely known and fixed).
I just picked up an S3 last night and I'm having this same issue. I watched the opening scene of The Defenders on Netflix, and I could hardly tell what was going on. Rewatched it on a proper display, and you're clearly upposed to tell it's Danny Randy much earlier in the scene, but I had no idea in the S3 until a blue light was clearly shining on him from above.
I used Twilight on my Nexus 7 because it lacked a night vision mode, ala blue light filter on the S3. I'm not sure how that can really help. Surely other people have found more elegant solutions to this problem? I've opened up other media files and they're all simply too dark. I get it's an HDR screen, but surely it has a mode for non-HDR content!
Do oled display have a blue light problem, I though it was only really a led thing.
John.
Might be an inconsistency with the displays. I have no problem with mine. Not getting any lag either but running a heavy debloated rom also. Battery life could be better. It's stupid you can't turn off the Wacom digitizer when s pen not in use. On my note 4 when I lost my s pen battery life was terrible because the Wacom digitizer stayed on. Should be an option in settings to turn it off. If anyone knows how please let me know. I don't use the s pen very often.

Try switching from "adaptive display" to "oled cinema".

Switching to modes other than Adaptive Display just gives me seemingly the same shade of yellow....
I have tab s2 and you can't change adaptive display. I wouldn't have bought this tablet if I'd known about this issue. Very annoyed.
I actually have the issue on my Samsung Tab S2, that the colors are really "hard" and lots of color information are missing in the video, details are lost in dark areas. Is there some fix for this or is the screen just too bad on the Tab S2? I know the Tab S3 has a HDR screen, and the S2 not. I dont have any HDR screens actually, but I can put color range to "full" on my desktop PC, which will en-light colors a bit, making details more pop out in dark areas (though black isnt fully black anymore if so).
Any color profile other than basic is mostly unusable, too much saturation. Still dark areas lack lots of information. Is there no way to fix this? I tested this actually
https://phandroid.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Screenshot_20160321-154452-400x711.png
and it helps with the details in dark areas, but it also makes the black bars of movies in Netflix and video players not black anymore but gray.
So from what i can tell, it's only a stock rom problem. As the screen looks amazing running liniage (best screen in the house). But I've recently decided to go back to stock debloated, as I think its running a bit snappier than liniage 16 or 17.
Has anyone found a black level fix for stock yet? (preferably not a screen tint app)

:cyclops: It's beyond what you're suggesting which is known :cyclops: but thanks for it
EDIT: I have now found a full workaround. First you need to enable Blue Light Filter. Then go to Settings > Accessibility > Visibility enhancements > Color adjustment > Personalized color, and choose all the colors in the correct order. If you do it correctly there won't be any change to the colors and Blue Light Filter will be "on", but actually not, which will override whatever Android is doing that's making the dark parts of movies way darker than they should be. So far I haven't found any cons of this workaround.
Original post:
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but after trying to fix this problem for like half a day (lol) I think I found the best workaround so far. If you turn on Blue Light Filter and set its opacity to minimum, the filter will be barely noticable, but the brightness issue will be fixed.
One thing I noticed is that not all apps have this problem. For example VLC, Youtube do have it (you can even see the transition of colors and brightness for a second when exiting to desktop view). However Youtube Vanced doesn't have this issue, so I asssume the operating system does this dumb change of colors when it sees certain parameters in an app (maybe something in the manifest.json file?). It would be awesome if some more knowledgeable people could look into this issue, maybe they could find something about why YT Vanced has normal colors.

HDR doesn't seem to work

When viewing a hdr YouTube clip or netflix my HDR doesn't seem to kick in the screen doesn't go to full brightness and the blue of the volume icon doesn't change like some people have said is anyone else having this issue or is it in fact normal
search in youtube 4k hdr nature
I've got HDR and 4k but I don't see any blue volume just the usual red and white slider in both YouTube and vanced

I've searched that however the brightness doesn't change unless I manually do it
Brightness changing is artificially enhancing the video but has nothing to really do with the HDR.
Just turn your brightness up manually to full.

Question Issue with red showing as yellow in camera

I wanted to take picture of this software I use at work and to my surprise the red "button" is yellow on the picture from the ZF9. If the button is out of focus, the color of it is correct. I thought it could be something with the screen's filter making it look like that in all pictures, but my coworkers iphone took it correctly and back at home with an old S5 the colors are also correct.
More worrying is the fact that its the same with the GCam and every app with cam capture ability, so its just not a bug in the stock camera app.
Is it just my own ZF9? I will provide a screenshot of that software here, could someone use it to take picture of the "button" in their screen? This is a serious issue imo since the color is completely changed, its not just an inaccuracy.
This is not related to focus but white balance issue, in case there is a lot of black area white balance level starts to freak out.
Try to change white balance settings.
Or even not white balance - its auto EV correction issue. You can change it manually.
No wonder there is nothing like that for S5 if you are using flashlight.

Using the flash on the Z9 had the button yellow. I used the flash on the S5 because it was way out of focus without it (custom rom not stock)

I did try to change the exposure, but at the point where the red was actually the correct color, everything on the picture were very dark. I also tried to mess in the pro mode, changing the ISO and white balance but again to make the red actually look red and not yellow the picture was way too dark.
Imo the phone on auto should take the picture with the correct color. If the "darkness" from changing the exposure or ISO or WB is necessary (I am not a photographer) so be it. Still,I don't understand why it cant be bright, like the picture with the yellow button but with the correct colors.
