Developer Options / Font Change ... - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Can anyone please advise how to change the font on the Mate 20 Pro ?. I have been tinkering around with EMUI themes and settings, but just can't figure it out . I didn't have this problem with my P20 Pro or any other android device.. Any advise would be appreciated..
Thanks ...

Downloaded 3 different fonts but when i go to theme/fonts i get the 2 default only. No other options. Do i have to do anything else after downloading?
Thanks in advance! /c

some you do not see them but if you get rid of them sometimes you do not see those that go to the center you do not have preview of some fonts but if you click on it it works

This is the method I used to change the font:
Install Tweaker for Huawei
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.emuitweaker
run the app and Enable font change
Download the fonts you like from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/themes-apps/noroot-font-styles-updated-02-09-16-t3453559
and follow the instructions given on that post:
INSTRUCTIONS
1.Download the fonts and rename from .zip to .hwt
2.Copy the hwt file to hwthemes folder in ur internal storage or sd card
3.Goto themes app and then find the font file and click apply, DONE!!
Click to collapse
In details:
Locate the hwthemes folder in your phone using the stock file manager app.
After the font file copy reboot the phone
Run the stock theme app and then open the settings of your current theme. You should find a list of all the available fonts to select from.
Alternatively you might try installing the app Themes for Huawei & Honor from the same author
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.themestore
and make the font download and selection within that app.
I haven't tested that app and don't know if it works on Emui 9.

I'm using that too, works with fonts.
Take a look at "Themes Manager for Huawei / Honor / EMUI"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deishelon.lab.huaweithememanager

The last update of the Huawei theme application allow font change, but only with the fonts you can find in that application. You can't import yours for now.

Yeah, I noticed that.. I see they have added some more for us to choose from.. but I got another update on my phone to 9.0.0.126 and I can't even get into the theme store.. Says I need to log in, but it won't allow me to..
The change log on that update only says "this update changes only the apps that come pre-installed on your phone".. I'm almost ready to go back to my P20 pro and sell this one..

whenever I change any font successfully my lockscreen and widgets hours font gets boldy and thick.
it's only happening to me?

I have a bunch of clocks without the background and different digit font and colors on my thread. Flip and non flip... and I take requests also. I don't have the link Cuz I'm on my phone, but just do a search for stoney 666 or bad seed customs here in the apps and themes forum. Or the clock link on my sig. Different thread but same clocks.

So i found one i liked and installed it.. But now nothing works.. None of the HTC Widgets will Work. and I cannot Long Press on the screen to put widgets on the screen.
And When I use the menu and goto personalize and browse for htc widgets rosie force closes.
Im trying to install the StockWhite .. I thought I had a 4x5 Setup. But Im going ahead an trying the non 4x5 to see if that fixes it.
You just need to change one image in drawable-hdpi its the first image if your looking at it in alphabetical order. Either use to program to make it transparent or find a clock that already has a transparent background and just copy that in to the apk then push it back to your phone.

The older clock widgets don't work properly on the new framework found on the ThunderBolt, which is why I haven't made all of my clocks available by saying they were compatible yet.
What you want to do is take a look at the htcclockwidget.apk using 7zip.
You can download my restore for Tbolt in my themes thread here in the Tbolt section.
Download it twice. Use one as your main backup, and one as your mod test.
The one we are going to use as your mod test, we are going to open up using 7zip, open the .zip until you get to system/app/ the apk is in this folder. Open the .apk in 7zip and this is the graphic we want to replace, "clock_add_weather_base.png" it will be located in this location: (see attachment)
All you gotta do is either right click and do "open outside" do what you want with the graphic or just replace it with a opacity of ZERO and the background will be gone.
To make it easier, I have included the transparent graphic. Just drag and drop into the same window shown in the attachment photo, and 7zip will ask to update, click yes. click all the way back until your out of the .zip. and then your done, use the .zip to install via clockworkmod recovery and boom, its gone!
Your welcome
P.S. Here's a .zip update instead if all that is too complicated.
Just copy this to the SD card, reboot into recovery, mount your system first, and do install from sd card. and then once its done, reboot.

OK so Now I have a few questions lol
So I made some changes and such as described above. And Installed the Zip via clockwork.. says it installed
But I still have the same clock? so I deleted it and put it back and its still there with none of the changes. Not even the change you put in for the transparent background.
what Did I do wrong?
** Oh and I also tried it with no changes at all just the zip you provided incase i did something wrong.. and it still doesn't show?
----
Opps I Figured it out.. i wasnt Mounting the /system before installing Works great now haha My bad.
OK here is my home screen. My next question is how do I change the font color on the clock widget. And is it possible to make the weather smaller?
Sent from my Thunderbolt using XDA Premium App
decompiling... done
OK So Ive learned how to use apktool
Done.. got it all de-compiled..
But now what do I edit to do what im wanting. there are so many xml file.. guess its just a hunt to find? and trial and error to know whats what?
How do you make the clocks white background with the numbers transparent? I would just like to have a white outline and text for the flip clock?
I tried the zip a couple times on BAMF 1.4 and BAMF demix and it doesn't change my clock, no transparent clock... I dunno why.

[THEME] TouchWiz UX Blue Mod **Works with every ROM/Build versions**

Hi guys! I've been using Samsung devices for a year or so (Samsung Galaxy S Captivate and now Galaxy Tab 10.1) and I like how TouchWiz look, but I hate how Samsung threw so much green in their blueish theme so I made this mod.
My goal is to take off every green in the TW UX theme and make it blue. This is something I started making for me and I decided to share it with you.
Here's what I achieved so far:
- Themed notification toggles
- Themed wifi in and out icons
- Themed brightness scrubber

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

}
Installation instructions
1. Download the file
2. Extract the content, there's one folder for every apks you need to pull from your tab (As of now there's only SystemUI.apk)
3. Pull the appropriate apks from your tab
4. Make a copy of your stock apks in case something goes wrong
5. Make sure you did the previous step
6. Re-read step 4 and 5
7. Open your apks and copy my images into the appropriate folders
YOU DON'T NEED TO DECOMPILE OR EXTRACT YOUR APK, JUST OPEN IT USING YOUR FAVORITE ARCHIVE MANAGER
8. Push your modified apks to your tab and reboot.
I strongly suggest to reboot in recovery and use adb to push your modified apk
The reason why I use this installation method rather than a flashable zip is that this way, you can apply this mod on any ROM or Build version, as long as you have TouchWiz on your tab.

It doesn't modify anything, only image swapping. You have to modify your own apk so you still have stock. You need to be rooted though.
Thanks looks good, no clue why they didnt match the colors in the first place

The only reason why it wouldn't work is that you did something wrong. It's just some modified images.

Hey guys, at the end nothing is wrong, it missing something .
I have found and fixed it. Froli you missed the folder drawable-sw600dp-mdpi for the galaxy tab 10.1. So to see in my original SystemUI.apk in the Overcome Rom. <- link
When you copy the same pictures in that folder then it works. Only one or two images are missing. I will report this in 15 minutes. Have to take a look now.
X Minutes later
The missing files are:
1 - quickpanel_icon_airplane_dim.png (uploaded zip file quickpanel_icon_airplane_dim.zip)
2 - the green checker by AUTO setting for brightness

It works as long as u have installed on your phone any one of the samsung flagship port rom (S6,S7, note 5,7) that has theme option in it.
Galaxy Note 4 - #chevyrhoads Grace port (S7 and Note 7 apps)
I installed this morning and ran the app, created a simple test theme and installed it.
When I go to themes the theme is there named [Dev_Only]Gadget Dark Theme. There are no preview images just broken image placeholders.
I have 3 options: Delete, Purchase, and Trial. Purchase says "This theme is not yet available, please try again later."
If I click on Trial the theme seems to load fine with the options and colors I set up.
Now the real problem...
I decided to load it up and try again thinking maybe it didn't install correctly. The theme installs via adb connection.
I load the program and get a message saying there is a newer version available, with 2 options: Exit and OK.
Exit closes the app and If I click OK it asks me to log in to my Samsung account, I log in and it takes me to a page that says:, "We’re sorry, the requested URL is no longer available: /common/getShortUrlMapping.do"
When I close that page it exits the program.
So frustrated with Samsung!
When this program first came out you had to send a request to Samsung for Dev status. I filled out all of the information and submitted. They emailed me saying that they were sorry but I didn't qualify for their program.
I am not a dev but I have been themeing Android since the Thunderbolt days, at one time I was very active in the Thunderbolt, Incredible, Rezound and S4 boards.
I give up.
Same thing here....
Hello

You have to theme certain parts in order for the previews to show like phone, contact, etc. I know in the different sections like message it shows preview image. It says DEV_ONLY because you applied theme from your computer. I go to menu and export apk and it creates your theme file and just install apk on phone.
Make sure your theme isn't applied and go to root/data/overlays/jsonfiles/trialjson. You'll see your theme and cut, paste into userjson folder. Then delete preferences folder in root/data/overlays and reboot. Then when you go to apply your theme, you only have the options to apply or delete your theme.
If you turn off wifi when using Samsung mobile theme editor you wont see that update pop up and it wont close on you.
Could someone tell me where to get the wallpaper files and sound files for my themes? Thank you.

Well if it already said update and then you turned off wifi then that's probably why. Before you open Samsung theme editor make sure WiFi is off so it won't run in the background and detect update. Cause as soon as you open it it will say update needed if WiFi wasn't off. Hope this helps!

You upload your own wallpapers in wallpaper section of theme editor. As far as sound files go, I'm not sure. But I'm guessing you have to upload sound files as well. I don't edit that section.

You don't have to uninstall it, just restart computer or better yet stop the application and restart it when WiFi is off.
Also there should be another thread with updated Samsung theme editor.

No problem, maybe someone else will respond with another method. No I haven't updated to windows 10 because I will be getting a new laptop and hardly use it. I was hoping it would work but guess not, it worked for me.
Look around for the newest version. I have the next update from this one but its not the latest. Maybe there's a way to disable updates for it, I would look into that as well.

[No-Root][Fonts][EMUI 4.x & 5.x] Request fonts & Step by Step Guide to make your own
Fonts for EMUIImportant Information
This post will keep growing. It will start will just two fonts: "Open Sans" and "Roboto" (yes, I know Roboto is the default font of Android 4+, but here it is in case you want it). This will work in a very simple way: You suggest the font for me to add and I add it (the simple requirements are written below).
By the way, this post didn't have a guide in the start. Thanks to @leonardus_magnus for suggesting it.

Using custom fonts on EMUI 5
If you have EMUI 5, you will need to also follow this guide to use any font. (you don't need this for EMUI 4)
You will need:
A computer, with Windows or Linux (can't say anything about MACs)
Android SDK Platform Tools (you actually just need ADB from there). Get them here: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html
Your device drivers. They will be automatically installed when you connect your Huawei / Honor smartphone to your computer and install HiSuite.
After getting all that stuff, lets go!
First of all, you need to activate Developer Options. To do that, Go to the Settings, scroll all the way down, and go to "About phone" and click some times on "Build number".
After you have activated them, you will find an extra option in the Settings menu, called "Developer Options". Go there.
Now, activate USB Debugging (you can freely deactivate it, and I recommend it, after doing this guide). Just scroll down until you find it.
Connect the smartphone with a cable to your computer.
Now you can go to where you downloaded the Android SDK Platform Tools and extract them to where you want.
Open a Terminal / Command Prompt and navigate to the extracted folder. Use the "cd PATH" to navigate there.
TIP:
In Windows you can just Shift-Right Click and a "Open PowerShell Window here" / "Open a Command Prompt Window here" will appear.
If it is PowerShell, just type "cmd" in it and you can keep going as usual.
- - -
For Linux, some launchers already include that option by just Right-Clicking, no need to add the Shift complication...
Click to collapse
In the Terminal / PowerShell / Command Prompt / whatever you want to call it, type in "adb devices". A notification on your smartphone should appear, asking to authorize USB Debugging. Allow it.
Type it again. If a device appears, good job!
Now, send this command: "adb shell settings put system hw_hide_font_style false". This will un-hide the Font Style option in Settings.
Now, reboot your device and it's done! Congratulations! Now you can use custom fonts on your device by going to Settings > Display > Text / Font Style!
How to make your own font
First of all, sorry for the wall of text. In this very first version of the guide I just want to make sure it explains everything nicely. Further on, I will add images and make this better. (I'm not full-time at XDA )
If for some reason you don't want me to make the font or you want to make it yourself, then you have come to the right place!
The requirements are:
The font files (in TTF format. If that format isn't avaiable, then you can try some software of website to convert, but while it can work, there is also a chance it doesn't);
A computer (I recommend Windows or Linux);
Some images to preview your theme (JPG only!)
A file manager (I recommend 7zip or WinRAR);
Any text editor, like Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code (I use this one).
The base files I made, so everything is a lot easier! You can download them here.
(I added a CC BY license. Simply, you can do whatever you want with these files / package, including for commercial purposes, but you need to credit me, with my name and a link to this post).
After downloading the package, you have have all the required files there, you will find everything you need there, including a smaller guide if you miss something here.
You can see some files and folders, like "description.xml", "framework-res", "icons", "preview" and "fonts. (these are the required files to make a theme with only a font. If you want to make a full theme, I recommend another guide for that and this one at the same time)
Here is a brief explanation of whay they do (further explanation is below):
"fonts": (FOLDER) Here you store all the font related files.
"preview": (FOLDER) The folder will include all images to preview the theme, in the themes app
"description.xml": (FILE) The name says it all. Here you write everything to describe the theme, from its name to its version. (I wrote in the file exactly what you need to do)
"framework-res": (FILE) This file is only used for complete themes. You don't need to touch it (but do not delete it! The theme won't work without this.)
"icons": The same as "framework-res". As the name suggests, it is for icons.
Ok, now stop describing the files and explain what I do with them!
There you have it!
In the "fonts" folder there is a lot of fonts styles (in my package I included Roboto, since it is Android default font).
When you download the fonts you want to use, you just need to move them all here and rename their styles to Roboto names.
If you don't have a style, then just don't use it.
TIP:
If some font includes a style named "Ultra" or "Extra" Bold, then it is probably the "Black" style of Roboto.
Also, copy any style of the font and rename it to "DroidSansChinese.ttf" (I recommend using the Regular style). I'm not very sure why its needed, but with my knowledge I can say its probably some Android ROMs use that font instead of Roboto, and EMUI can be one of those.
Click to collapse
The preview image for the font (the one that appears before you apply it in the Settings) is named "pic_font_default.jpg".
I recommend using a 500 px x 520 px resolution.
The "preview" folder includes all the images that will preview your theme in the themes app.
I included the
"cover.jpg" - Name says everything. The cover.
"preview_fonts_N.jpg" - Preview for the fonts. This says it all.
"preview_unlock_N.jpg" - Preview of the lockscreen. (yes, you can theme the lockscreen including buttons and that stuff in EMUI).
There are also these (not included in the package)
"preview_widget_N.jpg" - For the widgets.
"preview_icons_N.jpg" - Icons preview.
I recommend using a 1080 px x 1920 px image resolution for all these images.
TIP:
The N means the number of that image type. It starts at 0.
Click to collapse
When you finished putting everything together, from fonts to images, you just need to use a file manager to zip everything! After it has been zipped, rename the *.zip to *.hwt and your theme is ready! (yep, a theme is just a renamed zip file )
There you have it! I hope you like my awesome wall of text!
I'm still seeing how I can make this look better.
Will also add more details soon.
How to apply a font
NOTES:
As fair as I know, these should work in EMUI 4 without any problem. (I wrote below how to change it)
If you are using EMUI 5, then please scroll up and follow the guide up there to be able to use custom fonts in EMUI 5.
Now, how to apply them: (for both EMUI 4 and 5)
Download the font to any location on your device;
Move it to the "HWThemes" folder (located in the Internal Storage, also known as "/storage/emulated/0";
Open the Themes application and go to the "Me" section. Make sure the font theme appears there (but don't apply it in the themes app!);
Go to Settings >> Display >> (Text / Font) Style and select the font you want to apply.
Do you want to suggest a font? There are only 2 simple requirements!
You must provide the source of the font, not the download link directly.
Example: Provide this http://www.dafont.com/roboto.font, but not this http://dl.dafont.com/dl/?f=roboto.
There is a .ttf (TrueType) format of that font avaiable. This is the only format I got working, please tell me if there is any other format that works and I will post it here.
Notes for the people that care
I'm still working on the themes art to make it look even better! (the images you see before applying the theme; on some devices they don't even appear, I'm still trying to find out why).

I'm sorry to tell this but that is a problem of EMUI. Fonts in EMUI 5 only work with the English language (don't ask me why). I didn't try with EMUI 4 though, but I think it works properly.
Probably this happens because of the tweak needed to be done for the setting to appear... I really don't know.

It happens in every font available online for Huawei phones. Custom fonts break Zooper widgets and spoil the game.

Just added it. Enjoy!
Just wanted to ask everyone, would someone be angry if I started supporting these downloads via those link shortener with ads websites. Don't want to make anyone angry just because of some cents, so I'm asking. (another idea I had is to make the downloads avaible via shortener and without it, so people aren't forced to see ads and only support me if they want)
