Is 7.1 sim/sd card tray the same as other nokia phones? - Nokia 7.1 Questions & Answers

I lost my tray and i can't find a new one anywhere. Does anyone have other Nokia phones like 6.1 or 7 and could compare those trays?

did you sorted your problem? I have the same problem

Tray from Nokia 7 looks like it may be the same. Someone from the Nokia 7 thread measured his tray and it had the same measurements as 7.1 tray. I bought my tray from China and it said 7.1 tray on the website but I'm 95% sure someone used Nokia 7 trays, change the name and put 1$ higher price. Color is not matching, it's not making an ideally flat surface on the side (it's a little short) but it works just fine.

[Q] DELL selling Refurbished as new?

I just purchased a "new" Dell Streak 5 from their Sales dept. I assumed I was buying new as there are none in the Dell outlet store.
When I received it, the inside box was open, could not find the micro SD card to insert and the backplate would not seat properly, so could do nothing more since the backplate would not stay put, so could not charge battery, etc.
Also, the Date of Manufacture said Oct 8, 2010--that's pretty old for a "new" streak, so I am guessing I was sent a Refurbished unit when I ordered a brand new one.
Now, their returns dept is non-functional--since last Wednesday and no indication when it will be back up.
So, I am sitting here stuck with an old, defective, non-functional Streak 5 and probably my last purchase from DELL---EVER!
What is the experience of anyone who has purchased an unlocked Streak 5 directly from DELL in last 6 months--did you get one with DOM that was 8 months or older?
Not refurbished but old/different
I have received a replacement (unlocked version so they send a new one) from Dell in past month and it was made in October as well (the back cover didn't fit until I used a knife to open the gap on the latch). I think these are ones that were not produced with the same materials as most other Streaks(and Dell probably knew it) I'm thinking these might have a different LCD causing the fit and finish of the device to be off. I've had 3 Streaks now and My first one was an older one(September or October date) and the screen was probably the best of the three until its contrast got messed up. My second one was a newer one (January date) and its screen was kinda yellowish compared to my first one. My third one(current one was built 10/06/2010) and its screen looks like the first one with very bright whites. Out of the 3 the second felt a little more solid and the battery cover was very easy to install, on 1 and 3 the battery cover was/is somewhat cumbersome to put on. I believe Dell switched LCD's on the streak 2 or 3 times causing the difference in image quality and fit and finish of the device. Also as of May 4 the the Streak was discontinued so your going to get whatever they have on hand. So to summarize your device probably isn't used but its fit and finish is quite right, Also remember your device may seem used because it was taken out of the box to be upgraded by dell technicians(seeing as Froyo wasn't released for the Streak until December).
I had no idea they were discontinuing the Streak--is that the 5 inch AND the 7 inch. Why is that? Is it being replaced by something else?
Dell road map for the streak line is to launch a new streak 5 code named "Opus One" Q1 2012, dell could be playing it smart and slowing down the production of the 5" hybrid but doesn't make much sense to stop all making of the device isn't their that promotion deal going on in the states " buy a new computer over 600 bucks add a streak 5 for a 100" thing still going on, sucks they screwed you over like that, thats bad business practice, good thing I got mine made to order took more then a month for the dam thing though not unlocked thought stuck with rogers canada

Changing the colour of/replacing the polycarbonate housing of Lumia 800 guide

So for those who have cracked their polycarbonate housing, badly scratched it or simply got tired of the old colour there is a way you can replace the housing yourself and it's a lot easier than it sounds and will cost you about 70 GBP if you are in the UK.
WARNING! I spoke to Nokia about it and this obviously voids your warranty so only do it if you don't care I did it myself and it worked, if you break something along the way I will not be responsible! Perform this at your own risk!
That being said the actuall process is very very easy and anyone with a screwdriver, a bit of common sense and a spare half an hour will be able to do this.
So first of all you need to order the spare parts. If you are changing the colour you'll need to order three: the housing, usb cover/flap, sim tray. If you replace with the same colour you dont need a new sim tray as you can use the old one. You also dont need to buy the USB cover as the old one can be taken off and put on the new body(however this requires you pulling it off with quite a bit of force which could result in breaking it or making it fit less firmly in future so i suggest that you do buy the new USB door either way) The process of placing a new one on is way easier than taking it off.
I ordered my parts off ebay from "Headlane Ltd"
here is the link for the cyan battery cover:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-N...ps=63&clkid=6717331277486914548#ht_1577wt_854
Search for other parts simply changing the colour in the name or just type " lumia 800 sim tray" or "lumia 800 Usb door"
Anyway once you've ordered the needed items it's time to watch a youtube giude.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS9azQLWNAI
Now this is a FULL-FULL guide on how to completely tear the device apart. If you are only changing the housing then watch the first couple of minutes and the last ones.
Basically you only need these steps:
1. Taking off the screen
2. Taking off the battery cover
3. Taking out the battery
4. Taking out the motherboard
The rest (flash, side buttons, headphone jack, speaker, various antennas etc) stay in the old body and will be supplied in the new one so dont take them out. Although the middle of this video talks about how to do that. But i'll repeat again:
if you are just replacing the housing you dont touch those, it will be supplied in the new one. Basically you'll be able to see it when comparing what your new housing looks like to the one you just took off your phone. When they look the same, stop, FF to the end of the video where its being put back together and start doing that.
I did this myself in less than 20 minutes having watched the video prior to process. I wanted to change my black housing to cyan and did just that.
I've uploaded two images, one is work in progress and the other is finished work!
I'm in a bit of a hurry now otherwise i would make it more detailed, so if there are any questions post them! Plus the video is very very good at explaining this so thumbs up for the maker!
UPDATE:
Just wanted to add a couple of things now that i have a bit more time:
1.If you are changing the housing cover only whether it's to the same or different colour the relevant part of the video is up to 4:47 and from 14:27.
2.The things that come supplied with the new housing and therefore should be left in the old one are:
Speaker at the bottom
3g/gsm antenna next to the speaker
Wi-fi + BT antenna on the left
Heaphone jack
Camera flash (not the camera)
Side buttons
Small magnet that holds the USB cover in place
3.I used my thumbnail to remove the screen and in the whole process left absolutely no scratches/dents on the case or screen. It wasnt too hard to do.
4.In the video, the maker talks about the screw thats under the usb door telling us to leave it in at first as it wouldn't come out, mine fell out straight away when i flipped the case so be careful! Don't lose it! Put it back in when you re-attach the screen.
5.I found taking out the top left part of the screen quite hard using my thumbnail, so i used a screwdriver to push out the metal ring under the usb door (the one in which the screw was in). It's kind of common sense when you see it.
6.I also found it a bit harder than described in the video to take out the metal battery cover after unscrewing 6 screws. Maybe i was being too careful but within two minutes i managed to find the right pressure point and it snapped out easily.
7.Be very careful unscrewing the screws. I almost messed it up on the top right out of the six that hold the metal cover. It was in very tight and i twisted the head a bit withought the actual screw moving and it started to look very bad. Solved it by using a larger T6 screwdriver. Others were fine with T5 just dont rush.
8.I didnt use a magnetic screwdriver and theres no need at all.
my second picture work done!
Nice work! Thanks for sharing

you're right) i changed mine only because i wanted a cyan since a had a cyan N9. And i must say that i have made the right choice! I actually ended up with better build quality than i had on the N9 even though i did the lumia myself (the screen fits tighter, nothing squeaks etc.)
about the white, i havent yet seen a white housing for sale anywhere.. Perhaps its too early because i havent noticed any other coloured housing covers until recently..on ebay at least.. Anyway if someone finds one share the link!
I was looking at the same seller on eBay. Been searching for a white housing as well no luck yet.

truth be told I was actually disappointed in how the white one looked when I saw it in phones4u yesterday. I think the white and the black are best suited for the minimalistic design of the n9. However I see cyan and magenta look cooler on the lumia even though before, I also thought the white would look awesome. That's just my opinion but I do advise you to go and check it out first
Mmm thanks might have a look first then.

Is there any way to buy a housing in the US? The only one on eBay seems shady as it's listed as for an 800 but there's no camera button on the side.

That one definitely does not look OEM. Aside from the missing camera button, the flash is much closer to the lens few a few mm.

Well the camera button can only be seen (or could) on the right one, but thats the housing for N9 look at the flash placement(two golden squares). The one on the right is supposed to be lumia's because the flash is in the right place but yes it's too close. Looks like this seller doesn't know what he's doing.
I dont know anything about US parts sorry. Does Headlane not ship to US? Or would that be too expensive?
Nah, you can see enough of the left item to see it's missing the shutter button.

either way the flash is in a different place on those two so they cant be the same case. so i would definitely not get whats on this picture. The seller might be selling actual parts just not know much aout them)

Judging by the photo, it doesn't look like an OEM N9 nor Lumia 800. The N9 has the flash to the side of the lens and the Lumia 800 has the flash several mm above the lens. This is a cheap knock off.
The one on the right has the flash on the side of the lens, the one on the left doesn't.
It's just a mish-mash of crap
ok guys like i said before, the one on the right is the one for the N9, i have one and i know.. it also looks very legit (for the n9) at least it looks the same watch:

esp (2:33)
The one on the left is... i dont know wtf that is.. but the seller doesnt know what he is doing so i wouldnt buy from him.
Agreed. Looks dodgy. Headlane have there own eBay site and stock all the housings. Just emailed them asking when to expect the white to be stocked ;-)

Ok just got a reply very quickly. Might have the white in a few weeks . £60 not too bad.

Funnily enough, a week ago when I found this auction the pictures of the housing were clearly a Lumia 900, with the flash on the side. The pictures changed to what they are now a few days ago so.... definitely shady.
Yeah, the problem with Headlane is they don't ship to the US at all. They don't even come up in the search on the US site.

They may have been images of the N9 housing, which also has the flash on the side.

SIM card holder does not fit perfectly on one side

On one side the fully inserted SIM card holder stands a bit above the metal frame on my new N9 LTE - see picture.
The issue is more a minor one and as there are no other issues with my tablet, I would like to know if anyone else discovered the same issue on her/his N9 LTE. - If I'm not the only one with this issue and it is more or less "normal tolerance", I will keep my tablet, otherwise I need to consider to replace it (again), as neither Amazon nor HTC is willing to send me a replacement SIM card holder as a spare part.
Did anyone else here discover the SIM card slot issue or does the SIM card holder finish perfectly within the metal frame?

50/50 in my office - 2 have it, 2 not
Thanks! More or less the same was the result in a German tech forum discussion. I personally will simply live with the SIM slot issue, as otherwise the next device might have other, more important issues, eg the usual extreme light bleeding in the top right corner etc.

Looking for a bigger screen, is 8X a good choice?

Hey guys, looking at phones and thinking about the Honor 8X. Mostly coz of the big screen. Anyone familiar with it? Got any other big screen recommendations?
Also been researching that phone lately. Looks like a solid choice. Basically can't see any side frames from the promo photos, also extremely narrow top and bottom.
If you're into tech, a COF process is used to move the integrated circuit (where millions of tiny resistors and transistors are) UNDER a component that is traditionally placed by its side -- that's how they squeezed an extra bit of height out of the bottom.
Does anyone know of any other phones with comparable specs? For ref:
https://www.91mobiles.com/compare/Honor/8X/vs/Samsung/GalaxyJ82018/vs/Xiaomi/Mi8/vs/Apple/iPhoneXR.html (this link is an Indian site. Pretty useful tool anyways)
It's a decent phone with good screen little bezels 91% screen to body ratio not a lot in price range can compare, maybe new xiaomi mi 8 lite but only 6'2" and £259/279 so little more but you do get type c USB and fast charge SD 660 so slightly better in some respects [emoji106]

Quick review and a couple of questions. Upgraded from P20 Pro

Hi
So I have had the P30 Pro just over 24hrs now and my first impressions are that it looks really nice and feels good to hold (to a point....more on that in a sec). The colour I chose was Aurora. I liked the Breathing Crystal but I felt it was a bit too pale blue for me. Charging time is really fast. I mean its **** fast. I thought the P20 Pro was quick but damn this thing charges faster than I can take a crap.
The curved edge screen takes a bit of getting used to, as I have never had a phone with a curved edge screen before, along with the learning curve of not having a button at the bottom and having to use gestures.
Now the thing that I have found a little bit disappointing is the sound from the single speaker. Compared to the P20 Pro this doesn't sound as good. Is there a way to improve it in the settings?
The second thing that I am a bit annoyed about is the lack of a screen protector and back cover that was supplied with the P20 Pro. Why did Huawei decide not to included one with the P30? The reason it annoys me is the fact that although the phone has a glass back and front it's slippy as hell. It feels like an eel and I am scared it will slip out of my hands and onto the ground and break into a million pieces.
I only chose the 128GB version because of the fact that you can add more memory via Hauwei's own memory card. Its a shame you can't add a standard micro SD card but the price of their own is about the same anyway so no biggie.
Anyway overall I think its a nice upgrade with wireless charging and the additional memory slot plus the **** fast charging. I think this phone should do me for a couple of years now as the camera is amazing and its fast enough to do all I want it to do and I'm into retro emulation so this phone should run those games real nice.
So the questions...
1) I had my phone from O2 and it installed their own apps which I have removed except for the main O2 app but it also customised the software somehow but I can see where other than the additional custom version in the about screen. Can I remove the Apps & Customisation that it installed any other way other than a factory reset? Will a factory reset clear the O2 customisations and give me a stock version?
I wanted to join the beta program but other than being in the UK I don't think it will allow me because of the carrier customisations.
2) As mentioned above the sound from the speaker isn't as good as the P20 series. Can this be improved in any way via the settings?
3) I take it that bootloader unlock codes for the P30 Pro are no longer available the same as the P20 series? I managed to get one for the P20 Pro before Huawei stopped issuing them.
Anyway thanks for reading.
Mine came with a basic case in the box. Must be something that's region or carrier dependant

Hi m8, first off all, welcome to the club
1. The only way to remove the customisation from your device (O2 updates that includes some apps and settings+customized number on about device) is to factory reset and don't let it update when it says update available. Otherwise, you will end just from where you begin
2. You can use this app (or any other apps like that)
3. Yes, you're right, no more unlock bootloader codes for us too. It was a period of 4-5 days when you could ask for one (paid, of course from 40€ to 80€, depending on site), but that number was limited and once it ended, no one else was able to give us codes.
Cheers,
SilviuO
