Have you had Bluetooth connection issues since receiving the October update patch? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

As the title says really.
Since the October security and update patch came out and was installed on your device, have you had issues with devices connecting to your S9/S9+ or frequent disconnects?
I am having particular issues with my glucose monitor, but also my car, my headphones and some speakers. I've seen a couple of reports of people with issues with smart watches too. So, have you had any issues with devices like these, or any other Bluetooth device, since your phone got the October patch?
Thanks

I own a European S9+ and No I've had no problems before or after the 28 October update with my BT or anything else I can think about.
I use a pair of BT headphones that I use multiple times each week every week.
So sorry mine is working as o intended.
Where did you buy your S9? Europe or US?
I'm thinking it could be that EU phones has the exynos chip and US has the snapdragon.
So maybe some faulty patch for the snapdragon ones but we who got exynos did not suffer from it.
Just a broad guess my man.. Good luck!

I'm in the EU, so with an Exynos chip.
It seems that a few users of S9, S9+ and Note 9 have been having issues with two very specific Bluetooth devices since the update - the MiaoMioa and Dexcom G5 and G6 - these are Bluetooth transmitters for glucose levels which us diabetics needs to maintain a healthy blood glucose range (pairing with a phone allows us to get alerts for high/low glucose etc to help us maintain better control of our condition)
Samsung don't agree there is a problem, and are only offering a factory reset as a solution, but as this is happening with different transmitters made by different manufacturers it appears it is a Bluetooth problem rather than anything else. I have had intermittent issues with connections to my car, wireless speakers and headphones for example.

Qualcomm on Sprint here, but no issues at all. Connects to my home phone system, three different cars, and BT headphones without issue.

LG G2 D802 European version - voice call quality

Hello friends.
I have a 32GB operator free LG G2 bought online at Expansys.pt
I'm happy with everything except the voice call quality.
Over +/-60% the sound becomes muffled/a little distorted.
I've read allot about this and it's more common than I expected.
Some say it's a hardware problem some say it can be fixed by software configuration.
Here in Portugal, the LG Support says it's a hardware problem and are replacing some units bought physically in Portugal.
Has I bought my online, the Portuguese LG Support will not exchange mine!
I've seen that for the american operators like AT&T and Verizon there are some thread's saying it can be fixed by software configuration (ex: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g2/314167-poor-call-quality-verizon-g2-4.html#post3280213 )
Is there any solution for the D802 European free version??
Is it normal that this kind of problem occours in such a large scale ??
This is the only thing I dislike in this wonderful phone
Thanks.

My D802 represents excellent call audio, sorry to hear this man!
My problem is instead the bluetooth audio when listening to music. It has a crackling/distorted sound when I'm playing music. Especially when the chorus of songs kick in. However installing CM11 solves the audio problem for me so I know its software releated.
My point is - you could try CM11 and see if the calls are any better, or flash any other stock rom with a newer build number than ur current
Have a nice evening!
Found this interesting fact in another forum:
This is actually my second G2, and has the exact same problem with distortion that the first one did. After doing some research, i also found out that the note 3 is also experiencing similar issues on both verizon as well as sprint. Which makes me wonder if its a cdma/snapdragon 800 issue. But from what i've also read and have been told, samsung actually released a software patch to address those issues with the note 3. I hope that LG will do the same. I love the phone! Fast and awesome! If LG can fix the actual phone part of this, it will be perfect.

please help me em facing call issue no sound being heard from my side to other callers i can hear them but they cant please
Having experienced something similar, I tried using 2G for calling. Big surprise, call quality was flawless. I don't think there's anything wrong with the phone, I'm blaming my operators crappy 3G call quality instead. Pretty sure it suffered on the account of 4G spreading.

Can't pair S6 edge to Acura TL...trusted devices issue

I'm trying to pair my S6 edge to my TL but I keep getting blocked by the trusted devices menu.
Basically I'm able to start the pairing process and setup a pair code but when my car asks me to name the device the pairing process stops. I get a notification that asks me to add the car to my trusted devices list but when I do my car keeps telling me I can't start the pairing process from the phone. It's like if I have to add my car to the trusted devices list before I start pairing in order to finish pairing the car and phone. Is there any way to disable to smart lock so I can pair my car? I never had any issues with previous galaxy devices.
It's worthy to note that I was able to pair my Gear 2 and Nexus 9 without all this hassle
thanks.

What year TL?
I wouldn't trust a TL either LOL. Works fine for BMW M3 with iDrive
Works on my 2012 TL but BT track info doesn't display which sucks!

I was able to make a video with what exactly happens that prevents me to pair my phone and my car. Basically, i can go though the entire process but when i get to the part where i have to name the phone it cuts me off. Then I have a "trusted devices" message that pop up on the phone asking me to pair with my car to add it to the trusted list, and when i go in bluetooth devices, it does say pair. Usually it should say connected. When I try to connect to it in BT devices, it asks me for my 4 digit code and after I input it, my car tells me the pairing process can't be initiated from the phone...I don't know what to do, this is the first phone i was not able to pair. I think its a lollipop thing but i cant confirm because my note 4 that ran lollipop was already paired with the car when i got the OTA 4.4 to 5.0.

one of the first things i tried. Thx anyways
Important update.
I was able to pierce the mystery of my pairing problem. It seems as not all S6 edge are created equal.
Long story short, my dad got himself a new car, Benz GLA250, thats comes with networking capabilities when paired with a smartphone. His company supplied iphone didnt share the network connection with the car so he asked me to try with my S6. As i tried to enable bluetooth tethering, i couldnt find it. I made a few searches on XDA and found that some people are complaining about missing functions on their edge, BT tethering was one of the main features some people didnt have, others were missing some toggles also. It seems as some phones dont have it. Don't ask me why because its not a carrier restriction, some people on T-Mo had it, others didnt.
The only solution was to flash a custom rom with BT tethering enabled. As I didnt want to go through the entire flashing process, and also because i didnt want to trip knox in case it break SamsungPay, i called up my friend that had the same phone I didnt and found out he also didnt have BT tether. Since he didnt care about knox or Samsungpay, i flashed him a custom rom and was fianlly able to pair my TL with the edge, and was also able to connect to my dads car.
So i guess it's a software problem. Not sure why that option was left out for some, but i guess it'll be fixed in the upcoming 5.1.1 update. Also worth noting that samsung did release a fix for the missing toggles through an app in the galaxy store.
Does anybody know why BT tethering is gone on my variant? I've heared of some carriers taking out that option (and hotspot) but that was mostly because of the unlimited data plans, but in canada they never block anything on our variants, neither the bootloader or any other function.
Has anybody with an S6 edge W8 also have the BT tethering missing?
I'm trying to pair my galaxy s6 edge to my acura mdx 2006, and i can't do it. Is my phone too new to my car?
Just in case anybody is still interested in this problem, I found out that this "era" of TL ('04-'08) ONLY accepts cell phones from this time period.
Meaning if one doesn't have a cellphone dating back from these years "IT AIN'T GONNA WORK!" There is a cellphone compatibility list online
that one can find out which cellphone works from multiple makers and carriers.
And the answer to your question....YES, its too new.

Marshmallow update killing BT connection on G3, two phones in a row!?

Re: Verizon 6.0 OTA update, LG G3, after the update last month, my Bluetooth connections (three different headsets) became useless, with both parties to a call cutting in and out and the BT indicator going on and off repeatedly. After a series of complaints and escalations Verizon sent a replacement with Lollipop installed. Problem solved until VZW pushed the update to the new unit. Now I have the same trouble with BT. I am cell tech savvy but at the end of my patience. Has anyone experienced this issue and is there a fix? Many thanks.
I have not had the issue but I only connect to my car's built in bluetooth for call audio.
i had a little issue pairing to my plantronics voyager legend but it was getting the headset into pairing mode. once paired, flawless.... just make sure you turn off those stupid smart sensors on the headset. they cause tons of disconnect issues.
i also have it paired to a tone pro (HBS-730) and a JBL Clip, and pioneer headunit in my van. no issues.

Similar problem here. Since the Marshmallow update, I cannot pair to my Basis Peak fitness monitor, pair intermittently to my Aukey wireless headphones, and am getting erratic operation on my Wahoo Kickr Snap smart bike trainer.
No issues with my car (Hyundai) or Logitech boombox speaker with a clean install. Try deleting all of the Bluetooth devices from your phone, then delete the phone profile from the device if possible, power cycle both and pair again.
Third G3 VS985 in a row broken by MM update!
(I am the OP this thread): Third replacement unit has BT issues following the 46A update. VZW "2nd tier tech support" claims no one else has reported this issue, which is, of course, bull****.
I have an appointment in early March with an attorney who does consumer class action work. No guarantees, but she is interested in hearing more. Anyone else experiencing similar problems should message me. Thanks.

Same here (but Motorola Moto G 3rd Edition 2015 with OTA Marshmallow) . I suspect that Basis Peak is just not fully compatible to Android 6.0.1 in general.
BT issue on Marshmallow update
I have found that my G3 will now not pair with devices that use a dedicated app to pair with the phone. All other devices seem to pair normally.
I have 2 devices that use a dedicated app to sync over BT and they will not connect.
I have 2 devices that sync using the basic BT pairing method on Android and they connect no problem.
I wonder if there is an added security setting in Android 6.0 that is blocking these types of connections.
I had the same problem - won't connect to my Basis Peak, but is fine with my Pioneer radio after the update. I opened a helpdesk ticket with Basis, and here is their response:
I hope you are well. We have discovered that there is a connectivity issue with the LG G3 phone.
In mid-February, Verizon upgraded its LG G3 users to the newest Android operating system, Marshmallow (Android 6.0.0). Following this update, Verizon LG G3 customers, now running 6.0.0, became unable to sync or pair with their Basis Peaks.
When Basis became aware of this issue, our Android team began running tests to determine what was causing the incompatibility. Our team discovered that the LG G3 has trouble maintaining a stable bluetooth connection when running 6.0.0. The Peak uses a secure communication link to transmit data to your phone, which requires a more complex connection process. What is happening is that the unstable bluetooth connection of a LG G3 running 6.0.0 tends to drop before the secure communication link can be established, thus the Peak can neither pair nor sync with the phone.
Several other BT devices are having difficulties with the LG G3 handset running 6.0.0. The company, Tile, saw a BT issue with 6.0.0 and they worked with Google to develop a fix which is being rolled out with 6.0.1 While Tile’s issue was not specifically related to the LG G3, we believe that the next Android release may resolve the issue we are experiencing, as we have several customers who are able to sync while on 6.0.1.
(More information about Tile’s 6.0.0 issue can be found here: (I can't post URL's yet...)
We currently are working towards being able to validate that 6.0.1 will resolve the communication issue between the LG G3 and the Peak.
We take this situation very seriously and will update you as soon as we know more. We appreciate your patience.
Verizon pushed update to 47A today, BT issue unchanged
I was hopeful when I saw a new system update to the LG G3, but it doesn't help the Bluetooth issue with 6.0...
My JBL Flip worked fine with 46A but only supports call audio with version 47A.
Why has Verizon Wireless abandoned customers using the LG G3?
Verizon Wireless customers using the LG G3 (VS985) received a mandatory update to "Marshmallow" (6.0) earlier this year. Following the update, four of my five Bluetooth devices no longer worked reliably. Verizon referred me to LG, which in turn suggested that I contact Google.
I discovered (on this forum and Verizon's own) a large number of Verizon customers complaining that they too have had their Bluetooth functionality badly reduced. Some of us have spent additional money on higher priced devices in order to use the phone legally on the road. My hearing aid connects to the phone via BT, so I'm s*** out of luck.
Verizon's troubleshooting steps do not address the problem. There is an apparent solution in 6.0.1, but Verizon declines to make it available on the G3.
Having worked in the wireless industry, I believe nothing is pushed to Verizon customers until and unless it has been vetted and approved by the carrier. My educated guess is that Verizon failed to do proper diligence and wants to get out from under the problem by dropping support for the G3 and suggesting that customers pay to "upgrade" to a newer model.
Within the next few days, I'll be moving my numbers to one of their competitors. Verizon Wireless has failed to support a large group of its customers and deserves to lose them.

I understand what you're saying, and the frustration. If I were in the same position, I'd downgrade to 10B, root and put @xdabbeb_vs985_2.0.0 ROM on (based on 35B). All carriers tend to not care anymore once they've delivered what they expected to be their last OTA to a device.

General Google Pixel 6 January 2022 Update - Finally!

So January update is here!
The wait is over! You might have heard about all the controversy that Google Pixel`s December update sparked, dropped phone calls, bad reception, tons of issues fixed and another tons of new issues introduced.
Well, the wait is over - Google promised to deliver a fix to the fix and here it is the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro January update!
Let`s see how well they did!
Mod edit: YT link removed
How does it work for you? Telephony fixed, i.e. call reception, call handover and etc?
Sadly I live in a "none Pixel supported" country, so no support from the operators resulting into no 5G, no Carrier Aggregation, even no LTE+ (only LTE) and sadly no VoLTE and VoWiFi.
Glad this update smoothed things out, coming from the s20 it definitely felt a lot less smooth but 90hz on the pixel 4 felt very close to s20 in terms of smoothness.
Now with January we're back to on par with pixel 4 in smoothness.
I never had any signal issues so can't speak on that.
Me neither but I did not travel that much since I got it... else the January update is really really really smooth it just makes me crazy that my S21 Ultra ... is so far behind - it`s buttery smooth as well but occasional stutters just ruin the experience.
I really like the Pixel 6 and hope that Google can fix it - some of my friends that travel complained from phone calls dropping, seems that it can not handover from cell to cell when you are driving on a highway and etc...
I live in a none pixel supported country, so no support from operators, no VoLTE, no VoWiFi, no 5g and even 4G+ its kinda of sad.
All signal issues fixed for me! USA on Verizon.

For me too, T-Mobile in Germany.
Fingerprint reader works better after update.
Right now my only complaint with my P6 is the fingerprint reader. Indoors it works great, outdoors (especially in cold weather) it's pretty hit and miss.

Same, it's drastically better than the December "update".
I don't know if it's due to the Jan update or me disabling 2G on my phone. I have 5G at my home with mid to full signal. I've never had that before, not even a 5G signal to begin with. Only when I drove away from home, I'd get some 5G.
also, my fingerprint reader stayed the same. It might have gotten worse since it's getting really cold/dry here. So bad that I just took off my screen protector and going naked for now.
cheers
Have 2 carriers on my P6 - "FREE MOBILE" works 4/5g with hard SIM card & "SFR France" works 4/5g and VoWifi with eSIM.
Before Jan. updt, had almost generic issues with FREE Mobile on receipt and sometime on call, no issues noticed on SFR on both ways.
After Jan. updt looks OK !!!! So far so good
@derausgewanderte I have also disabled 2G but didn't noticed effect
Funny, while everybody talked about the December update issues i didn't have any issues with it.
Now with the January update I'm having random reboots..
My phone is stock without any modifications, i think I'm going to do a factory reset this weekend and hopefully it will be fixed.
I'm with you. Have had zero issues until the January update. Freezes. Battery has been bad. YouTube is killing my battery. I don't use it. Have background data off. Battery to restricted. Force stop. Cleared cache/data and it is always the top of the battery consumption.
Looking at this thread in the community forums it looks like for some people there are problems even after january update.
Very poor or no signal - Google Pixel Community
It is interesting that there are people who had the problem and january update did not fix these, people which started having problems after january update and people whose problems were fixed after january update. Go figure what exactly google are doing with the modem but obviously it needs more work. I personally never got the december update and did not have any problems with november one. Now after january update i am also ok but on LTE only as 5G is locked in my country. I also have turned off adaptive connectivity and do not have volte or vowifi enabled (again locked in my country).
My Pixel 6 is fresh off the truck and the January update was job one, so I can't compare to earlier problems. 4G and 5G seem fine. The fingerprint reader is definitely half-baked. I managed to get one thumb enrolled after many tries. It's letting me in though, and that's what matters. Battery life seems good, not 5a good but good enough.
Still have occasional random spontanious reboots occasionaly ;(

In my experience it only lets me make a purchase under $100 without unlocking the phone. Otherwise it asks for the pin on the payment terminal. If the phone is unlocked, I can spent as much as I want without a pin on the card terminal. And this is how it's been for me the entire time I've used google pay, for about 2 years

Compass is rubbish in Google Pixel 6. I compare compass from Huawei P30 even Sony Xperia ZX Premium.

What model V60 to buy?

Good day,
I am a proud owner of a LG V20 H910 AT&T for about four years now.
Bought it back in early 2018 refurbished from ebay for about US$185.
I got very good service from this, I learned alot about roms, scripts, etc...
these are the issues I faced...
Very recently, phone started turning off when the battery is around or below 40%
After further investigation and cleaning the contacts, the battery seems to be swollen slightly.
Sometimes I can run it until below 20% until it powers down.
Lately I see it takes a long time to charge from this point.
The phone mic stopped working and gives of static noise/feedback to other caller until you switch to speakerphone then it works fine. This is for mobile calls and whatsapp/duo.
The headphone jack seems to short and stop music and activate google assistant every now and again.
This doesn't happen to all headphones, only some. If you don't move the phone or the cable, it works fine.
Download mode loads, but you get static on screen, tried reflashing with my stock and others but same.
Other than these problems, I totally love my v20 and it is still going.
I wanted to buy either a v50/v60/G8x.
I see LG is no longer making V series.
I like to tinker with mods and roms, what do you recommend
my max budget is ~US$220 and I see I can get these on ebay.
The main thing i like about my v20 is the dac, I use the force high impedance mode as I use it as a music player in my car's Hi-Fi. Is this possible on these units?
I want to go for the v60, what version TMO, Verizon, AT&T?,
I am on Digicel in Trinidad & Tobago. so this doesn't matter but what is the best version to buy for unlocking and future mods/dev.?
I remembered when I got the AT&T version of my v20, it never came with the Music app, and I only recently solved that issue.

Personally I went with the U.S. Cellular unlocked version.Or,you can go with the T-Mobile version.Prefer it be unlocked, and the reason I say those 2 is because at least the firmware is downloadable unlike the AT&T version. But,there is a Qfil copy of the AT&T version in the Q&A post. From my readings they're all IMPL locked and I haven't found away around that yet.
I would like to know too. coming from a v40 that i bought for $300 and it lasted 4 years... I hope to do a similar run with the v60.
Not too worried about updating past android 11. But it does kinda suck the security updates stop at June 2021. My v40 is stuck at 8/20, and I'm already noticing some apps dont work with Biometric anymore.
It took many years before the v40 was finally moddadable to lineage... and I'm sure someone will figure out the v60, but I also worry that WIFI calling won't work if it ever gets lineage.
That said, if I am on ATT, and want to use WIFI calling, I should buy an ATT branded model, correct? If I buy a global model, and run it on ATT, it likely won't work with WIFI calling?

Yes,if you're on AT&T most definitely get the AT&T branded v60.With my V60 USC device it wouldn't make or receive any calls when the 3g shutdown hit.I had to cross flash my V60 with a Luns backup and that's the only way it would dial in and out again.I even went in to the engineering menu and enabled all the settings perfect for VoLTE and it still wouldn't call out. It's not IMEI specific either.I'm still trying to figure a work around for it,but nothing as of yet.
Ok. I just bought the lm-600am version
