P20 Pro LCD spare parts - Huawei P20 Pro Accessories

Yap, I've cracked my screen in a very unfortunate accident. Slipped and fell down while talking on the phone and walking, the phone is literally thrown out of my hand to a nearby wall. even with the silicone case (that was included from Huawei in the box), the corner of the screen shattered.
I approached Huawei Service center here and they quoted me for SGD $350 (about US$250) including parts and labour. That was even more expensive than iPhone X screen repair!!!!!!! I tried to find parts on my own but even on Aliexpress.com, P20 Pro screen is sold like $250 SGD. Is there any online stores that could get the screen with more reasonable price????

The reason displays cost so much is because they are not LCD but are OLED. OLED screens are inherently more expensive to manufacture due to the difficulty to make in relation to LCDs. US$250 for replacement of the display is quite reasonable, and here in the UK, Apple charge approximately US$360 for a replacement.
Most resellers use "LCD" in their listings as a buzzword, as it is what most people type in when looking for the display, as opposed to the technology itself.

In my country they wanted around 340€ for the screen + manhours paid. Luckily, I broke my screen in Spain, so I replaced the screen in Madrid in Huawei Experience Center for 224€.

Broken Screen on XDA (original version)

I have a 2.5 year old XDA (which I dearly love), but the screen in the bottom right hand corner is broken (the screen under the glass is black in that corner and does not display any text, although it is still touch sensitive - it looks like some important material has been rubbed off the screen, and now the electronics of the display do not work there). The black non-functioning area is very slowly getting bigger.
I've been quoted some very expensive prices to get the screen repaired (GBP 150 all-in), which given the cost of a brand new phone seems not worthwhile.
Is anyone offering a service to repair these phones at reasonable prices (I travel around the UK, USA, Europe and the Middle East).
Many Thanks
Andrew K
You would be better getting a used one off ebay and selling your old unit for spares.

Need a new screen, buying from ebay?

Hey guys I've recently cracked my screen and the touch doesn't work any more so I need anew screen! Unfortunately I didn't purchase insurance when I bought the phone. I asked my operator how much they charge for a replacement and they quoted me £240 which I can't afford right now, I noticed there's a lot of cheaper options on ebay but I feel they probably wont be the orignal screen even though many state they are, one thing I've noticed is most don't state they are ips, is this why they are so much cheaper, if I order off of ebay will I be getting an inferior screen?
Bump, anyone?

Never buy only the glas. You won't have the tools to seperate the glas from the LCD. (This works on Samsung devices with a hairdryer and a sucker, but not on sonys sh*tty sh*tty displays )
I dropped my Z2 2 weeks after i bought it, from about 30cm and had a little crack on the lower half of the display and touch wasn't working anymore.
Repair costed me 200 €
I also have a Samsung Galaxy S3. There is missing an around 5 cm big peace of the glas and the touch is still working... even at the position, where the LCD is directly touched, its wokring! -.- poor Sony.

Thanks for the info, I wont try be trying to remove the glass myself I have a repair shop near me that can do that, I'm more worried about getting the proper screen as I was quoted £240 to get a repair by my carrier, but I've seen screens for a lot less on ebay but was wondering if the screens were just inferior knock offs or whether my carrier was simply charging so much just to keep me inside my warranty

Screen cracked, options and alternatives, is it possible to replace glass only?

Hello everyone,
I have cracked the v30 screen after a 1.5 meters fall on the sidewalk, had a case and all.
Looking online I have found screen glass only (without the oled display and digitizer) for about 5$ and a full screen with digitizer for about 150$.
Could not find any replacement guide for glass only, is it even possible?
I also have checked with a few labs regarding replacement work and as I understand the phone will not be water resistant after the replacement,
LG labs included (at least in my country).
If I decide to do it on my own, does anyone have info on how to restore water resistant after a screen replacement.
Happy to finally join the community,
Thank you

One of the tear down videos on YouTube says water resistance should be almost like factory if done right.
Can't think of the name, but it's the famous guy. Jerry Rig?

What screen protector were you using? Any decent protector would not only protect from direct impacts, but buffer from stresses. (Please don't tell us, with all the discussion of them, that you got a case and not a screen protector!)
Larger cities, such as NYC, tend to have cell phone repair places. They probably don't stock the LG screens - Samsung and Apple mostly - but you could probably make an appointment and have them do it.
I'm going to guess that replacing just the glass isn't a viable option. Just like the samsung edge devices t2je curved screen will prove to be very difficult to deal with.
Replacing the whole screen looks extremely easy from a video I watched a whilw back. Nearly anyone can do it.
I can't find any guides for replacing a cracked screen either.
My phone screen still works fine but just doesn't look great with all the cracks I have in it now after an unfortunate drop.
From watching tear down videos, it seems impossible to replace just the glass and so the parts needed to fix it are about $200... and even if I bought them, I wouldn't know how to do it myself.
LG won't even give me a price estimate or time estimate if I send it to them to fix. They charge $20 just to diagnose it after you send it to them before they'll give you any price to fix or time to fix estimates.
I'll probably just sell this phone as is and get what little I can out of it and move on to a newer phone like the Galaxy S9+.
I've decided it is cheaper to have LG fix a cracked screen. The cost is $146 (you pay the shipping to them, they cover the cost of shipping the phone back to you).
The only downside is the time it takes (up to 2 weeks)... but it's cheaper than all the kits I've found to do it yourself plus you know it'll be done right and your phone will still be under warranty.
Glass only repair is a very tough work, especially for LG V30 with curved screen, you could possibly ruin the whole screen. I think it's better to change a whole new display, there's a screen completely repair tutorial on Youtube, made by Wit Rigs, you could take that as a reference.

Warning: cheap aftermarket display from Aliexpress

Hello,
just wanted to give a quick rundown of my experience with a cheap aftermarket LCD (yes, you read right...) for the Oneplus 5 from Aliexpress.
I broke my screen in July, since I knew I'd get a Pixel 4a or a Oneplus Nord anyways I wasn't that worried about quality, I just needed something to hold me over till I get the new phone. I ordered an aftermarket display from Aliexpress for 23 EUR. The display arrived and it immediately looked... weird. It didn't have the round edges of the original screen and it seemed thicker. Doesn't matter, it's cheap and I'll just need it for a few weeks, tops, so what could go wrong?
Here are the issues I immediately noticed:
* Quality control is bad, the upper right nut in the frame for the screw on the mainboard is loose on the display and can't be fastened
* No adhesive for various parts that are glued to the original frame, so they sit loose
* No oleophobic coating on the screen
* Much thicker than the original display
* LCD not OLED, so colors are off and it's not as bright as the original display
But it gets worse. Once I had everything back together the display was not closing properly. There's a metal notch on the frame that bends the main PCB and prevents the SIM cart tray from inserting properly. That metal notch is neither present on original display, nor on sellers pictures.
PCB is bending on metal notch
Comparison original display to display from seller
Screenshot from seller without metal notch
Conclusion: the item is faulty. Since that I've dremeled the notch off and the phone closes now, but even for a screen as cheap as this, this is absolutely unacceptable, in my opinion. There are several sellers now that feature pictures of this display replacement with the notch visible, but I don't think repairing a manufacturing defect should be the responsibility of the customer.
Overall can not recommend. This might be okay for the cheapest of cheap repairs, but manufacturing defects aside, it also seriously lowers the quality of the device. I don't have a repair business, but this is the tenth screen I replaced over various iPhones, a Oneplus One, a Nexus 6 and now this Oneplus 5 and this is the lowest quality screen replacement I've ever seen. And I've put some really cheap LCDs into iPhones. It will hold you over for a few weeks like it did for me, but you can say goodbye to any resale value left.
On the plus side: it doesn't have the wobbly screen effect while scrolling...
tl;dr: don't buy, unless you are in a pinch.
Aliexpress is a cancer... Don't buy anything on this site. Fraud TVA, you must something paid taxes, products are false/cheaps and you can wait your package during 1 or 2 months
Above all, any support, it cost more to asking a refund/return product.

Well, I can't say that, unfortunately. I just looked it up, over 68 orders since July 2013 I only had to open a case with Aliexpress three times, two of those because the item hasn't arrived before the buyer protection period ended and both items arrived a few days later (unfortunate for the seller, I already got my money back). In this case I submitted the pictures to this thread with a text similar to my original post (I slightly reworded it for this post and kept the original complaint shorter to avoid confusion) and got all my money back.
I think you can't fault Aliexpress for the long shipping times from China. Personally I don't have a problem waiting, but I can see how ordering from them is not for everyone.
If you're into repairing electronics Aliexpress is a godsend, because I know of no other source where you can even the tiniest parts in single digit quantities.

Cracked glass repair

I dropped my tablet and cracked the glass on the display. Besides the crack in the outer glass, the display and touch input both work just fine.
I've noticed replacement glass on Amazon for about twenty bucks. A local repair place says that doesn't do the job; the display needs to go to a place that can refurbish the display and laminate new glass, at a cost of about $175 USD, with another $110 for the shop to remove and replace the display.
Is this legit? If it really is that complicated, does anybody know of a reliable shop that will just do the whole job my mail, hopefully for less money?
Thanks.

Your better of selling the tablet and taking the hit and pick up a new one, as it's a huge job replacing the glass only!
Also, the screens alone are £300+ and you can't get any local shop to replace the glass only, as you need specialist tools it's no small task but if you’re looking to repair it, the quote you been quoted is pretty fair!
I know it’s too late but why on earth didn’t you purchase a case for your tablet? I’ve got the supcase on my Tab S6 LTE amount of times mine has gone flying across the room I would have had a shattered display and shattered rear glass but thanks to the case not a mark or crack!

Sorry for you. In case it is only a single crack - have you thought of only putting a protective glass above it? That way it is sealed and might be less visible. Maybe you want to share a picture.

The crack is almost invisible and I can't even feel it, but it's annoying that it happened. A local repair shop is sending the screen in for refurbishing when they have several orders lined up.

UPDATE: Sending it directly to Samsung turned out to be the best option. It was a total of $280, including an upgrade to two day shipping.
I dropped it off at UPS on Friday, it was received on Tuesday, and I got a notice that the repair was completed today (Thursday, Christmas Eve). Even with holiday delays, I should have it early next week.
At that rate, it's about the same price as a year of carrier insurance + deductible.
