Actually i have not uploaded the twrps, because i don't know which one is working and which one is not working. In all cases manual mode is available

Source code?
You can't honestly expect people to download a random zip containing an executable right?
Although your intentions may not be nefarious you can't trust anyone.

This tool is not open source.
Nobody obliges someone to use it, if you want you can, if you don't want, don't use it.
I want to specify that this tool have more of 200k of downloads.

I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this tool, I'm simply stating people should be cautious, just because it's been downloaded a heap of times doesn't automatically make it safe. Think back to when Lenovo was found having over 750,000 laptops spying on users.

I would trust the XDA community and their giving him a 3214 thanks meter.

I'm sure millions trusted Lenovo also.
OP didn't obfuscate, will be looking over the whole source.
Also OP, please name your forms/buttons/labels please, it hurts my head seeing Button1, Button2, Button33, Button7583, Form38748354

The irony of you recommending this tool after "looking over" the code is just funny. FWIW, I have never used this tool or any other like it and have no interest in it other than someone trying to help others.

You might be missing my point. Your decision that is not malicious vs his original contention that it wasn't don't provide any more proof to anyone who didn't either review the code or write the code. All we have to go in is the XDA forum reputation. He is a developer on a developer site with a good one, and you have next to none. I don't think either of you are out to mislead anyone, and I certainly would not be the first to try a tool like this (if not for malicious code reasons, for "I don't feel like unbricking my phone" reasons). I wish you both well.

Squabbi has no recovery, lock, Font Theming, device info get, etc.... It also has a GUI, which in reality, is a MINUS. Unless he is just using the gui to launch a bat, then it is a VERY inefficiant and risky way of doing things, that's why I nixed my GUI tools (it bricked my Nexus 5, luckily I saved it).

Hey there Kwongger.
like you said its really incomplete. Which is true... No batch files are used in mine.
" that's why I nixed my GUI tools " Just wondering what's 'nixed'? Is it a typo? Last one, was it my Nexus 5 toolkit that bricked your phone? (I'm really sorry. :'( ). This was posted with no harm or aggression in any way.

not trying to act the role of N00b, but, when you get a chance, can you post either a step by step directions list, or, even a video on how to use this?
I haven't tried it yet, but I assume you just plug your phone into a windows pc, and if you have the proper drivers installed, the program starts up when you click on it..
thanks!

nixed- put an end to; canceled.
Yes. It was your kit that bricked it :/ and then I tried to fix it with a kit I made, which fixed it, and then bricked it.
Tools like that are inefficient. They can't natively run the commands, so the open a sort of "emulated" command prompt to execute them. That is where we run into issues. I think GUI kits are GREAT minus that.

This is Bump! A new and easy way to sign boot images for most modern LG phones so they'll boot on any locked phone.
Bump an image once, and flash it to however many phones you please.

How does this work?
Simply create an account on the site, click "Bump!", upload the boot/recovery images (also known incorrectly as 'kernels') and the service will automatically Bump them for you.

Is this project open source?

Who made this?
Team Codefire, of course!
Bump would not be possible without the help and support of many people.
Please consider donating something to the people listed below to help them to continue to support your LG phone and to show your appreciation of all the hours they've put into this awesome unlock!
@thecubed - Paypal Donate - That'd be weird if I wrote something nice about myself here
@Shelnutt2 - Paypal Donate - This guy nearly single-handedly wrote the entire Bump site in a few days, and was stuck waiting for me to be around before we could test. He's awesome.
@IllegalArgument - Paypal Donate - Special thanks here, IllegalArgument really helped out and brought us across the finish line here. It's safe to say that we have the unlock today because of him - show him some love!
@autoprime - Paypal Donate - Generally awesome. Always helpful, always willing to test things, and a great guy to have on the team!
@AnimatronicRocketReptile - Paypal Donate - Crypto help, thanks!
@Dees_Troy - Paypal Donate - For building all these TWRP images for us, thanks so much!

I'm just a user, do I need this?
Most likely not. If you're just flashing ROMs, this is a tool for developers only. There is no need to Bump ROMs yourself if you're not editing anything in the kernel, recovery, or ramdisk.

How do I know if something is Bump'd?

It is. You upload the boot.img from the ROM you've compiled, which is about 5-6 MB. In a few seconds, you get a download link for the bumped boot.img. Then reinsert that into your ROM
Never doubted you guys once. Thanks for the time and effort you and your team had put into this and continues to invest in it for our benefit.
Can't wait for A.O.S.P Roms to hit the Sprint G3 I see they have a few for Verizon and other carriers already.
The new ZV6 kernel for Sprint won't bump. It says something like "unexpected size".
It seems to be working fine so far though, so maybe @autoprime Bumped it before uploading?
TWRP has about a 5 sec delay when you first start it. Then it's fine. So I thought this might be the problem.
Thanks for all your work!
Zv6 kernel? Looks like I'm going to have to do some looking for that.

If you can fix it, that would be much appreciated. I don't know if you're a member of the team. lol
Nope. I'm just curious about what changes in ZV6 can be applied to the AOSP builds to get things like NFC, BT, GPS, and the compass working
Hi guys!
You might have noticed that the Bump site is dead.
Please thank Cybojenix and EnderBlue for the kindness.
For reference, see this post and the context therein: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56991448&postcount=8
Yes, this is harsh, and yes I do feel bad about it. However, I am sick and tired of people accusing me and my team of things we're not doing, and sick of people being entitled to things that we do in our spare time.
As usual, everyone who's supported us and the team - Thank you! You're the lifeblood of this community.
Sadly though, I'm done. I'm done with Android and I'm done with rooting and unlocking phones. The G3 is the last phone I will root or unlock publicly.
Sorry guys that it had to come to this.

[H918 / T-mo] [1.3b3] EasyRecowvery - TWRP and Root Installer

I don't always follow a new device during the troubled early days of root...
...but when I do, I'm utterly scarred by the chaos and confusion.
Since I've watched the current V20 root exploit evolve from "maybe DirtyCow would work here" into a full-blown war on Nougat's sepolicy, and finally into the emergent "Recowvery"; I thought it might be fun to get my own hands a little dirty and write some wrappers to automate the rooting process with ample error-checking along the way.
>> Please take a moment to check out @jcadduono's Recowvery thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h918-recowvery-unlock-v20-root-shell-t3490594 for more information, to say "thanks," and to donate if you can afford it. <<

Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't it working?
First: update your ADB. If you don't have ADB, then you'll want to fix that before you spend another second at XDA. I personally only use official releases from Google, so I might not be much help if you're using something you found at random at XDA or elsewhere on the Internet. You can download Google's latest release of their tools from the very bottom of this page. (I recommend installing or extract them to C:\Android for easy access.) Using the "SDK Manager" included in that download, choose to install "Android Platform-tools" and "Google USB drivers", and remember to run it again once in a blue moon for updates.
If ADB isn't the problem, I'm happy to offer what assistance I can. Please describe what you were trying to do and how, then attach any .log files the script created.
Where is TWRP?
The link to the latest version is linked in this thread under Step 3.
Rename the downloaded file to recovery.img and put it on your internal storage.
Does Data need to be wiped?
For everything to work properly, YES. If you don't have an inherent understanding of what will happen if you don't run a Format Data, then please do so the first time you enter TWRP. This will erase Internal Storage and remove the default encryption so that TWRP can function to the fullest. BACK UP YOUR STUFF FIRST!
Is no-verity-opt-encrypt necessary?
YES, but not totally. This ZIP makes it possible to allow system modifications, and prevents a couple easy ways to end up with corrupt data or bootloops.
Download that from Step 3 in the thread above, and put it in the folder named zips next to EasyRecowvery.
If you're going to install SuperSU right away, you shouldn't really need it.
What is selinux?
selinux is a major security feature, and also a major pain in the butt depending on who you ask.
If you don't know if you need it in "permissive" mode, just leave it be. You can always reflash later.
Why isn't TWRP showing Internal Storage?
These phones use encryption out of the box. In order for TWRP to function properly, you will need to use the Wipe Data feature after installation.
This will blow away everything on your Internal Storage, so make sure you don't have anything important in there!

Awesome...
Awesome man, so cool to watch all this develop. Glad I could be part of it.
definitely looking forward to this. sweetness!!!!
It has been amazing watch all this develop in the past weeks. I have been flashing and rooting for about 10 years and this is the first time I've seen it all from the beginning. It is really amazing what a few of these guys are capable of...but this time for me I was left speechless. Gentlemen, (and ladies?) Thank you for all of your free time and dedication for making this possible for the average end user like me. We all don't show enough gratitude and I'm sure I'm not the only one amazed my all of your capabilities. Keep up the unbelievable work, and a nice donation is coming to everyone who contributed if I can find a way to donate to you all. Point me in the direction, and the cash flow will be on its way. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
dmoney4eal
@bezeek you might want to add the "I am not responsib...." disclaimer. One for your protection but mostly so people are aware of the possible consequences.
If only I had the T-Mobile variant I would of already wrote this and put it in this thread lol, anyone want to donate? :c

(I might be putting up a rough build in the AM depending on what sort of sleep I get tonight.)

Is this still a WIP? I don't see anything updated by the OP. I'm waiting to root and something like this would be great as I am leery of going through the regular method with ADB as I'm coming from a Samsung device.

ZMax Pro (Z981) Free TWRP & ROOT Method

UPDATE (08/18/2018):
UNI no longer needed. The Z981 Firehose/Programmer has been retrieved & new instructions & files will be release soon. Come to Discord if u want to see how this sausage is being made. Everything is public. No one should pay for anything.
Join our discord {Mod edit} (Everybody is welcome).
We will need ROM/Kernel/Program makers. So please join Discord to help out. Nougat is also on its last bugs. And Oreo is booting. So there are a lot of great news for the Z981.
New thread will be started here on XDA with file links & instructions when ready.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have working TWRP and Root for the Zmax Pro. We are almost ready to let users beta test.
Join our discord {Mod edit} (Everybody is welcome).
If you would like to be a tester before full root is launched/achieved. Or you can just keep up on the progress that is being made.
Although the TWRP installation is done thru a paid app. We plan to share free access to this method of installation. And we advice that no one purchase said paid app for the purpose of rooting your Z981. But if you already own said app. Or purchase it in order to share with others. Please contact us for a safe method of sharing access for the purpose of TWRP installation & rooting Z981's.
We need advance knowledgeable folks to come help us in getting the firehose extracted from the paid app. And also to help us try to target the bootloader & to develop SafeStrap in the mean time. Come on over. We got our fingers in many pies.
All credit goes to Armando for his awesome TWRP & Messi for testing the UNI method of root thru the paid app. And for those that where/or will be willing to share access to the paid app for free.
08/18/18 - UNI no longer needed.
04/28/18 - Updated Discord link.
Discord link is invalid. Also, what can I do to help? My Z981 currently sits on a shelf serving no purpose. Would love to regain life from it.
i have a broken glass one. i could use some root to mess around with it.
also, discord link is invalid.
Wow! Just when I had given up hope on seeing mine rooted!
I still use this phone as my primary. In fact, I have three of them. I'd be willing to help with testing and such, just let me know!
I even have one dedicated for my guinea pig phone, so it works out!
Dude, your link is broken ?
I've been rooting phones for about 7-8 years now. I'd be more than happy to help with testing to get this to a public release stage.
Has anyone figured out anything about discord? I would love to test this. I almost cried when the discord didn't work lol.

yeah, I got into the chat room and didn't see anything worthwhile as far as what this particular section is about! Just a bunch of random chatting it seemed to me, so I didn't see the point of it and still wondering what's said paid app is if it's not TWRP

Great, folks that refuse to read the #Annoucements.
Click on the link for Discord on the 1st post of this thread.
(That is what is known as Original Post aka OP)
Then accept the invitation to the Server in the link.
The very first welcome message tells you to read #Annoucements.
Click on #Annoucements.
Read ALL the #Annoucments.
Then follow the instructions for borrowing UAT/UNI.
The process of rooting the Z981 is not a one button push. It is very specific. And things must be done on a specific order. And as of this date it still involves a paid app. But thanks to folks that lend their licenses. We have made a process that makes rooting the Z981 totally free. As long as the Z981 owner is willing to follow instructions.
If we where just handing out license logins then u would have dozens of folks bricking their Z981's. Specifically their IMEI's. Which has not been the case for those the are willing to read & follow instructions.

It is not my root method. The method was first posted by Messi2050.
What is our method is the lend & walk-thru options that our Discord group provides. So folks don't have to spend a penny on root. Which we believe should always be free. And our release of updated/latest TWRP & a Debloated Discord v1.1 ROM (Based on MPCS B21) are something we are proud off.
And pretty soon, once some major bugs are worked out there should be Nougat flavors of Linage OS & Resurrection Remix & other Nougat ROMs available for the Z981. And eventually there should be Oreo ROMs too.
Hey, thanks for the reply and not blasting me too hard. When I was on the Discord chat I had kids running around me acting crazy not to mention my screen was busted up so I was having a hard time. And thanks for the breakdown of the acronym because I am surely one who often wonders what some of those abbreviations stand for.

Read. Read. Read. You must want to help yourself. And once again, you can always use the "search thread" option in the upper right hand corner before you come off sounding uninformed. People will help you, but you must first show that you are involved enough to find answers to the basics - if not you probably shouldn't be rooting your phone.
i did join and rooted my zte phone thank you

Lost trying to get ROM info....

This post isn't about a specific ROM, but rather a plea for info on where to find them and details about them.
I realize that since these forums were "upgraded" a lot of developers have left. The only place I'm aware of to find info in the telgram channel "Moto G Family Updates". Is there anywhere else? Maybe I'm just getting old (I am), but that group is a huge cluster**** - just a lot of individual discussions and " teasers" on ROM releases or updates. I see posts about quite a few ROMs, but other than very basic info & download links there's no other information.
For some of us these things aren't really intuitive. For example I know I am not alone in being uncertain about using TWRP. I've seen a post suggesting it works fine, but everytime I've used it on US ret version the touchscreen is fouled up, requiring a mouse to do anything.
I feel like I'm in the dark, thinking there HAS to be some place that can shed light.
It's not your imagination. I'm 67 and software has really gone downhill in the past ten years. Quality doesn't exist anymore.
For example, since 1997 I've run a home cluster of 6-11 virtual machines and recently I've been trying to upgrade from CentOS 7.6 to Fed 34 on all of them -- I have spent many complete weekends trying to upgrade my VMs one-by-one and am not even halfway to done, owing to infuriating bugs in packages these days. I have to watch TV on a 13" laptop rather than on my 14 foot home theater screen.
My background is 24 years in enterprise infosec, and general quality sux to the point that I am wondering if I should rethink my whole modus operendi for whatever time I have left.
This isn't even considering the terrible mechanized shrieking corporatized 'music' they put up with these days compared with our revolutionizing music of the '60's.

I don't see a "G Family" channel, but that's the G8 channel which is for this model (even though there's no 8, it's still the same family). I don't know of any other, at least not yet.

Yeah I don't mind getting all of this from telegram channels, I just wish those devs would actually moderate them. I'm sick of going to an official channel and having to read through so much random conversation, memeing, and images that have nothing to do with anything. Keep the channel professional, I don't need to read through a bunch of edgy kids that think its 4chan (and all the baggage that comes with that).

Yes the "Moto G8 Family | Official" group (that's how it displays in the Telegram app).
Admittedly I don't understand hoe telegram works, but in that group when yoe see a post from a developer, like announcing an update to a ROM, if you click on "family updates" it show a page listing all the ROMs such as this:

I know, I was just making sure you were looking at the right telegram channel because you said "G Family" and not "G*8* Family".
But yes, as far as I know, that's the place. You'll need to use the search function. Wish there was something more than that.

The channel on telegram you guys are after is 'moto g8 cloud', that is more or less the repository for roms for these group of devices.

It can be hard to find information about the standard phone sometime. I mean these are all basically experimental and bound to be buggy unless it's a flagship ROM for a currently still flagship phone. You just gotta flash one after another and try them, that's been my experience with the custom ROM community. However, to be fair, information seems more sparse now than when I first got into it, perhaps because it's telegram heavy and because all social media and tech main stream has become trash. I used to use reddit a lot but this phone doesn't seem to even have it's own sub. (maybe there is a subcommunity for the specific ROM you can find which is active)

This sounds like a different question entirely, perhaps frustration? But asking how to flash usually requires in depth knowledge from a dev of some sort in my experience. There is usually some hidden compatibility that has do with version or ROM or something that I wouldn't be able to figure out why if you gave me a year.
https://twrp.me/about/ Check it out they are just 4 dudes making a custom recovery console/thing/FW/SW probably hard to have a big customer service portal.

So firstly join Moto G8 Family Updates, you'll find so many more ROMs there
If you are coming from stock Android 11, this is important. No ROM is currently able to be flashed from 11 because TWRP decryption is broken across the Moto G8 family in that version. To circumvent this, download the Moto Flash Tool, find a matching Android 10 firmware for your variant of Moto G Power, and extract the contents into a subfolder located in the Moto Flash Tool's firmware folder. After that, reboot into bootloader, start the tool .exe, and start flashing. Do not disconnect until the flashing process is finished, and format data when they ask you if you want to.
From there, pick your ROM and download it to your PC. Do not attempt to flash a ROM marked as fastbootd in TWRP. It will NOT WORK! Download and flash the TWRP 3.5 image. Boot into TWRP, initiate an adb sideload from Advanced, and open a terminal (adb sideload path/to/your-rom-of-choice.zip in the terminal window) Once done, format data and reboot into the slot the ROM was flashed to.
If you have an SD card you can skip most of paragraph 3 by downloading the ROM to that card before doing any formatting. None of this formatting wipes the SD card so it is safe to leave it in, but I'd take it out just in case. Now once all the rolling back is done, boot into TWRP, go to Install, select your SD card, and select the ROM zip. Once the flashing is done, format and reboot into inactive slot
Click to collapse
...You can't flash straight from stock 11 to a custom ROM because of /vendor issues. You'd need to do the steps that I listed on that list to first downgrade to Android 10. Do not flash TWRP until the downgrade is finished and you've formatted your data
