Hey everyone, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (G965U, US Version) on ebay.
I was really happy when it arrive and was going to keep it. I wanted to check if it's fake or not, so I boot into download mode and got this:

Chinese menu on the download mode in a G965U US version Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.
Are some Legit US version Samsung Galaxy Phone suppose to have Chinese menus in the download mode? If yes, how can I get it to English?
Are you able to download apps, download Phone Info app to check out all the hardware on firmware on your phone?
It's just the download mode that is in chinese/korean (idrk). Android OS is in English.
Also, android saids the storage capacity is 128gb, which was advertised on ebay when I purchased it. But, my computer said the storage capacity is 63.7gb when I plug it in. Additionally, my computer is labeling the phone as a G960F, instead of G965U.

I would download the app Phone Info to check out all the hardware and firmware on your phone..
That screen doesnt look like an Amoled one, YouTube should download app phone info

960F i think, is the Galaxy S9 with the Exynos not the US unlocked with the Snapdragon 845...may not have all the lte bands you need in the US...

It's an Asian knock off for sure. Nothing matches up, a lot of info is missing, and then the mediatek processor is the dead giveaway

I did a storage testing where I kept copying and pasting a 1gb file until I could not do that no more. So far, I could only copy and paste up to 5gb, concluding that the device have only 8gb storage (the other 3gb might be the OS), instead of 128gb as advertised.
Good thing it was purchased from ebay, instead of craigslist. Return has been initiated and I'm just waiting for a refund.

Those clones probably fake the amount of storage, displaying much more than they actually have. Hopefully you should be good with eBay, keep us posted and good luck. Sorry that happened!

i just noticed the AB was the one from BestBuy that i bought(unlocked) and staples has the AR
i am not sure what the difference might be but it screwed up my price match with bestbuy because they stated that they were different model numbers even though to the consumer they were the same thing.

the 16gb one i picked up from staples shows GTP7510MAYB on the box and it is LOCKED >.. maybe i should try and return for unlocked ...hhmmm
the one from BB i picked up has GTP7510MAVB .. 32GB
Sometimes stores change the model numbers in case a customer wants to price match. They usually only do it if the item number is the same, which in this case - isn't.
I gave samsung a quick call and they said that the R's and B's are different. That the R's are carrier based? Also the B's are not supported for the keyboard while the R's are.
I don't know what to make of this. Seems very odd, I guess they made some hardware changes on the fly.

the guy on the phone, after putting me on hold to talk to other people, said that the B's are not compatible with the current full size samsung keyboard. I don't know about the bluetooth keyboard. I have no knowledge to indicate that there would be an issue.
I told the guy to forward a complaint to whomever because you cannot have this type of issue in the marketplace. Indistinguishable products that actually have some differences.
^They have no idea what they are talking about, clearly. I called them about having problems setting up my Samsung acct to get the update. They told me I had to add a credit card to my online acct. There's no option to do so. I googled my problem and found out in about a minute how to fix it.

^yes, the Touchwiz and any future updates. You have to create a Samsung acct on the tab, so you can check with their servers.
I see there is a Tizen based EBay app, but it is not showing available for the Gear S. Is there anywhere to download it and side load it or is it under some other name in the Gear appstore?
I was actually looking for it last night. I can't see it anywhere.

Is there some other way to download it? It does not show up in searches or when manually looking through all the apps.

I think the note 4 users can't see a lot of apps for all the watches.
I noticed when I switched and had the gear 2 a lot of the apps I had for that watch were no longer available.
I'm using a note 4 as well. Hopefully they start becoming available soon.
I knew I wasn't going crazy when I told someone my eBay app is missing and my PayPal app. had it on my Gear 2 I installed on my phone but no where to be found in my gear S or the gear store.
Why is it note 4 users can't see apps? Can anyone see a Golf NAVI app for golf gps? Official literature states it's available, although it also says the Flesky keyboard is also but it isn't

because your phone is either rooted and your build.prop file in your phone has been altered or the file is different than other peoples devices that cant see the ebay app. The gear apps store must identify the phones differently thus allowing some to see apps to download and others not to.

Sorry to disappoint you but I am indeed using my note 4 on Sprint( if that matters) and my Gear S combo . I do have a note 3 and a Gear 2 as well also a Tab S. But this eBay app is Strictly on my note 4 and Gear S combo . No build.prop tricks.
Not disappointed, you said it right there- its a sprint GN4. Different file.

I suppose carrier has something to do with it I was able to install it on my Tab S as well no (wifi only)

After a couple days, I found there is something in my screen.
It's like couple of super-tiny-red-dash-matrix, you have to watch the screen very carefully to see those things.
They look like the Attachment picture below, and they show more clearly in white background.

They are actually smaller and more blurred than the picture shows. And when I change the angle between the device and my eyes, the matrix will move up-down.
So, when I found this problem, I contacted Amazon and Replaced the device.
BUT, the Second device they sent to me, has the SAME problem:crying:!!!!!!!!!!
This situation very very confuse me. I just wonder is there any fellows have the same problem with me ? And what should I do?
MY device: Fire HDX 8.9, 8.9" HDX Display, Wi-Fi, 64 GB - Includes Special Offers.

Which firmware is on it? Did you rooted kindle, put some other recovery on it, than stock? Using safestrap and running nexus on extra slot?
No? Then that could also means, that there is some faulty batch of Apollos (bad screens or faulty HW) devices in Amazon storages, so you can end with faulty device again ... Or not. What you do, is up to you... :good:

Try putting kindle in airplane mode see if that fixes even try switch off WiFi try it may be your picking up some sort of signal noise worth a try.

Mine came with a Chinese manual.
Anyways LTE is working fine with Globe Telecom's LTE, I've yet to test it with Smart's LTE

I got it with in 7 calendar days I called them everyday and emailed them to expedite the process hahaha
I saw some online sellers too and they offer limited warranty unlike that's being sold at Lazada.
Been using it for a week now, I don't really have any complaints about it other than the underwhelming speaker quality.
This is probably the best phone I ever had!

thanks engineer000, I am from Valenzuela. How is your experience with Hydrogen with gapps?
|I flashed using TWRP. It works good on the latest H2OS.
I just unlocked bootloader, flash TWRP > ROM > GAPPS > Super SU and it works fine for me.
I just returned to hydro because no rpivacy on lockscreen and no background restriction when using mobile date. It is consuming my load.

I'd actually prefer lazada compared to oppomart. Incase anything goes wrong lazada will be liable directly and they're easier to get in touch and retrieve your money back.
Oppomart on the otherhand is a pain in the ass. Ordered my accessories from them since they're the only ones who sell OPT accessories and ship to the Philippines and it took them a week to get it shipped, now I'm still waiting after 3 weeks and the items are still "preparing for shipping".

Be very careful, Oppomart stole me almost 400eur on refound (sent me a used mobile of another old model and i sent back), they just wait PayPal time expire, don’t let time expire even they implore. Do not trust Oppomart.
I buy from aliexpress and pandawill, it never happen something like this.

61 of 64 GB will be available for ROM (internal storage)
This has 4 GB of system memory (3GB if you got the 16GB version which I highly do NOT recommend on getting), you will never need to worry about RAM on a phone with anything above 3 GB.

In my years of working with phones I've seen some peculiar chinese phone brands. But recently my younger brother bought a 2nd hand phone which claims to be a P40 Pro+ (of some brand) and says it's running Android 10. But taking a quick look at the "about phone" info made me scratch my head a little bit. Some things add up, others are just ridiculous considering the 130€ price... Also the interface looks... off, and going into the settings, the interface looks more like Android 6.1 or 7.1.1 rather than 10.0 which made me assume it's just a reskin.

I don't have any coding knowledge, but installing costum firmware on phones is what I like to do. So if anyone could help me find any info about this phone, or maybe willing to help installing a standard version of android like 7.1.1 or 8.0 that'd be great.
My brother rlly needs this phone, but in it's current state it's pretty useless scince most of the functions either work partially (like the finger print reader which works more like a fast unlock button, scince it doesn't read a finger and instead just unlocks the device no matter what finger you put on it) or doesn't work at all (like the sim card reader, the SD-card reader and the face recognition which is just a nonexistent setting)
Also, I just made an account but have been using XDA for the past 2 years or so. I don't fully understand the site yet so if there's any way to add a few immages to this thread, please do tell me.

Sounds like a "Wish.com" phone. Umm yeah it's a fake pos. Well, not really "fake" but yeah old version of android with probably spyware city installed on it.
1 gb of ram would be a god send if that's the case. they usually come with 512mb and the rom takes up 99% of the system memory. "multi camera"?? One sensor is legit the rest are probably fake and that one sensor is probably 8MP at most if youre lucky. Outside looks sweet as hell probably? I'm just guessing.

If I was your brother I would try to get a refund because he got scammed. The phone could be filled with spyware so if it was my phone I will probably just recycle it.
If you get the real specs and the phone could be somehow bootloader unlocked (which I doubt it can be) I could help you build a custom ROM for it.
