Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
Notes for themers: In addition to the udpated theme, we have introduced a theme version variable to the TWRP theme system. If the theme version does not match the version that TWRP expects, TWRP will reject the custom theme and load its stock theme. This change will ensure that people who update TWRP without updating their theme will still have a workable recovery. We have removed libjpeg support. The stock theme was only using a jpeg image for the splash / curtain. This change means that any custom themes will no longer be able to use jpeg images. It also means that tools used to repack recovery images with a different curtain / splash will need to be updated to use the new method.
Version number notes: For a while we’ve been using a 4 digit version number and reserved the 4th digit for device-specific updates. For instance, we find and fix a device-specific issue like decryption of data on Nexus 5, we would release that as a 2.8.7.1. After a while, some people would start asking where 2.8.7.1 was for other devices. So, going forward we have decided to change the numbering scheme to 3.0.0-2, etc. Our hope is that this version numbering scheme will more clearly identify that the 4th digit does not indicate a version change for the code base.

WARNING: This is our first release in a long time. We have a lot of new and somewhat aggressive changes in this new release. The changes to the graphics back-end may cause some devices to not boot up properly or have other display-related issues. If you are not in a position to reflash an older build of TWRP, then wait until you are or at least wait until others have tried the new version for your specific device. You don’t want to end up with a non-working recovery and have to wait several hours or days to get to a computer to be able to fix it.

This is what happens every time. Its frozen, mouse and all, light around the bar is frozen. Left it sitting there for 30 mins. What's causing this? Haven't been able to install gapps once. This is a brand new device just rooted and this is the first install. Is there any way around this?

I can confirm this issue. I have just completely wiped my MOJO via Advanced Wipe using this version of TWRP. I noticed the mouse was a bit laggy in general use and the wipe took longer than usual, but it completed the install of Lineage OS 13. However, upon attempting to install open_gapps-arm-6.0-nano-20171228.zip it completely froze as per the poster above. I hope this is useful info for you.

Fantastic!
Rm -rf is under settings>general tab "use rm -rf instead of formatting", correct? And then wipe as usual?

Correct.
Is it simple to turn this img file into a zip file so it can be flashed in recovery?
Flashing Magisk using this TWRP leads to a freeze of the whole System.
Using 2.8.7 it works fine.
Maybe you could look at this.

there is no method buddy. if the app tells you to wait for 360 hrs you have to. no way around it. for those who have already unlocked the bootloader no one why they didnt have to wait for 360 hrs.
PS:- I do not own the device nor have I unlocked the bootloader. I am waiting for someone to test band 2 and 4 so I can buy it.
Wow! Thanks, gonna test soon.

THIS TWRP DOES NOT DISABLE FORCE ENCRYPTION. IT WILL DECRYPT THE ENCRYPTED DATA WITHOUT THE NEED OF FORMATING IT
DO NOT POST WITHOUT READING THIS:
Two reasons why you are unable to successfully decrypt data. (unable to get past the lock)
1. You must have flashed older security patch rom
Example: You have flashed a rom which has december security patch. Later flash a rom with November or Oct security patch. Decryption Fails
Reason: In Android 8.x, devices implementing Keymaster 3 or earlier were required to verify the version info (ro.build.version.release and ro.build.version.security_patch) reported by the running system matched the version info reported by bootloader. Such information was typically obtained from the boot image header. Further, they disallow any downgrade to older security patch or android version.
2. The person who compiled the rom failed to add encryption support.
Solution: Ask that person to add support or flash the one that supports encryption.
great work

No need to flash force decryption anymore.
@vasishath does this support usb otg, and MTP?
Edit: nvm I flashed it and answer is yes & yes lol
Well done! I don't need to smash my head over it anymore
But where is source link? To device tree, not TWRP...
If I flash twrp every time I update ROM should I flash it again;

this its COOL! if you possible add password in recovery, and dont possible remove if you want reset the phone.
i test my day off.
good
Looks really good, excited to give it a go!
That's some very good stuff ??
wow! really cool. good job man!
Congratulations @Arteush on the release of your project! Don't let the haters get you down!
Looking forward to give it a go.
I spent about 15 minutes playing around with it, everything seems to work except theming the splash screen (won't load any PNGs I've tried, and putting your own colour hex code always results in black). Really nice work
Sorry for my ignorance... but is this a custom recovery (to replace TWRP) or a theme_ing+ all-in-one?

A custom recovery
The new release include a patch to prevent samsung account and lockscreen loop issues, strongly recommanded to check the box when flashing a kernel.
Wow, this is incredible. Thanks for sharing.

Unlike TWRP/ ClockWorkMod - this will modify statusbar/ themes etc?
TWRP will be overwritten by this or both options available on installation of OrangeFox?
Can you give examples of what statusbar changes it can make? - Dynamic colour SB? SB icon colour changes? SB Clock styles? SB battery options? (it doesn't show on the example pics from the OrangeFox link)
Thanks

The best I can tell you is to try..
Look at this screenshot for the status bar options.
Thank you for this recovery project... I was following the official telegram thread and did not know this thread already existed here...
Great work. Love the options...
Couple of questions
1. I got pin not correct in lock screen. The fix in the recovery ( add-ons) did not help. I had to delete some files in data/system to clear the password.
Then I got into the issue of samsung password not working... Had to spend sometime cleaning up the storage of a bunch of smasung apps to sign in again.
Is there a better solution to this?
2. Is there a way to show the zip files as default instead of all files in the file section. Most common reason why I go into recovery is to flash a file. Having the above option will be very useful...
Once again appreciate your work

TeamWin is proud to present TWRP 3.4.0-0 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (GSM)!
Introduction:
Team Win Recovery Project or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Key Features:
-Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
-XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
-Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
-Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
-Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
-Onscreen keyboard
-Easy selection of internal/external storage
-See changelog below for new features
In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe cache & dalvik, and run a backup.
We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

Installation Instructions:
Via Odin
You will need to download and install Odin on your PC. Once you have Odin installed, download the proper .tar file for your device from the download link above. Power off your device. Turn on your device using the proper key combo to get into download mode and attach the device to your computer via a USB cable. Use the PDA tab or button to browse to and select the tar file that you downloaded and flash the device.
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
Via TWRP App
Download the Official TWRP App (root required):
Play Store (recommended)
Direct Download
Install the app and open it. Agree to the Terms. Select TWRP Flash. Select your device from the device list (noblelte) and choose a version. The file will download to your Downloads folder. Browse to and select the file. Tap on Flash to Recovery.
Via TWRP Update (Requires TWRP 2.8.4 or higher already installed)
Download the latest TWRP image file (.img) from the download link and boot TWRP. Go to install and find and select the Images... button. Browse to the image that you downloaded and select it. Choose recovery and swipe to flash.
Via dd install method (root)
Download the latest image file (.img) from the download link above. Place it in the root of your /sdcard folder and rename it to twrp.img. Run the following commands via adb shell or a terminal emulator app:
HTML:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/15570000.ufs/by-name/RECOVERY
