Questions about how to manually upgrade my unlocked T-Mobile S9+ to the PIE manually. - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

OK, so I originally bought this S9+ from T-Mobile in the US, and I had it for two years, then I unlocked it, and switched to MetroPCS by T-Mobile, which really didn't need me to unlock it for that reason because the sim still would have worked as it's the same network. I joined the beta and am on the final beta build, and I've gotten these updates from T-Mobile still. However, today T-Mobile finally released the finished version of Pie, but tons of people on Reddit that weren't in Beta are getting it, but us in Beta aren't getting it.
I'm currently on G965USQU3ZRLG, and I want to downgrade back to what the version was before I joined Beta so I can get the update. I know I'm a senior member and have been on here for a while, but I haven't really done much phone modding in years, and I'm getting older -- which is coming with a **** memory, lol -- and I forget how to do a lot.
I can downgrade with Odin to the pre-Beta version without tripping Knox right? The whole point of me doing this is I assume at that point when I go into my settings and check for an update it will be available, because right now I have nada.
Any help is appreciated.

I am on the same boat as you. I have an unlocked AT&T S9+ on T-mobile, it will not get the update what so ever. From what I have been reading the phone will not push out a official OTA carrier update unless you have an activated SIM from the carrier the phone was pre-configured to. I'm guessing you can either sideload or Odin the latest rom but I've haven't found a website that host either AT&T or T-mobile roms.

I'm trying to find the firmware G965USQU3BRJ5 because I can downgrade to it in Odin, then I should be able to download the Pie update normally, but every ****ing site with that firmware for download has a slow download if you're a free member, which will take like a day, and for a fast download you have to pay to become a member -- even on Sammobile. I tried to find that firmware download on here but couldn't. Ugh.

My best advice is finding someone with at active Tmobile SIM card that you can borrow for a few hours and giving it a try.

Update: I used Odin to downgrade to the firmware before the OneUI beta, and my phone was decrtyped, and Odin successfully flashed the old firmware, but when I enter my password it verifies it to decrypt, but it stays on the decrypting Icon with the unlocked padlock icon and the circle going around it forever, it's been 40 minutes and it's still on that same screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

New and Running T-Mobile on AT&T Note

Just a few questions. Running Tmobile stock rooted on the I717 is great but makes me a bit nervous as to what i can and can't do with this phone. I am running the UVLG3 with the T879UVLG3 baseband. and just got an update notification. so was wondering.
1. If i update will it brick the phone. tmobile update as that is what the phone id ID'd as.
2. If i do update and all goes well, i am sure root will be gone. Can i just odin recovery image and flash root through that?
3. if there a way to get the phone to not receive the updates on this rom?
4. Since i have the Tmobile modem, can i flash 4.2.2 ATT roms or any other ATT roms or will that cause issues?
Thanks for the help, just want to get rid of the annoying update reminders in the notification bar.

Vervizon S4. On MI1,..NEED MJ7. Strange Update. Pls Read.

Okay so I have a regular stock Verizon Samsung Galaxy s4 . I've been using it with my T-Mobile Service & SIM Card in the phone. Works quite Perfect. The original baseband firmware version that I had in my phone was: ME7. I heard that there was an update to "MJ7" that was rolling out, updating the firmware in the phone to android 4.3, along with unlocking some other cool device capabilities such as the other LTE and AWS bands. So naturally I downloaded the Samsung KIES program for my PC in order so I could connect my phone and get the firmware upgrade. Upon connecting my phone Samsung KIES did indeed say that there was a new version available for download that would upgrade my phone to the MJ7 version. I decided backup my phone first before performing the upgrade. After doing so the next day I connected my phone to my computer and opened the KIES program, and it told me that time that the new firmware version available for my phone was MI1!?!? Not MJ7 like it said the day before. I thought that was a bit strange but then I thought that maybe I had to upgrade to that version before I could upgrade to the "MJ7". I allowed it to upgrade my phone to MI1. After it upgraded I went back and checked for another update and now it is telling me that I have the most current firmware version in my phone..."MI1". I rebooted my phone and PC several times and checked for updates and it still hasn't daid that MJ7 was available! What have I done to you? Did I do something wrong? Why did Samsung Kies initially tell me that MJ7 was available but now it will not anymore, after updating to MI1 ( the version that it told me was the most current release) this all happened on this past saturday and sunday. I would definitely appreciate any help whatsoever in uncovering this firmware update mystery, and the ability to update my phone to firmware version MJ7. Not only do I want the Android 4.3 but since I am using this phone on tmobile it will give me extra functionality to use the LTE BANDS on GSM instead of just 3G or H+. Thanks in advance to all!

I read something about Samsung pulling the 4.3 update for some carriers... due to an issue with the Wi-Fi maybe? It may have shown up on Kies, then been pulled. I'm sure it will be back once they get the issues sorted out. Or you could possibly look for an update.zip on here and manually do the update yourself

I want to undo my root/TWRP on I545VRUFNK1 - Verizon Unauthorized Software

I am going crazy trying to resolve my issue. I was tasked with getting CM13 onto a new S4 I545VRUFNK1. The only root that worked was Kingo Root despite several website claiming that towelroot or one click would work, they DID NOT. After installing TWRP and the 3.0.1 recovery, when i go into recover a Verizon message appears saying the software is not authorized so it won't work.
There are several version of this phone which is contributing to the problem. At this point I want to get a stock rom of 4.4.2 and flash it with odin and get it back to the way it was before I tried to do this.
samsmobile won't let me download, samsung-firmware.org only lets me get 3/4 of it and I can't resume it. Everyone wants money for this firmware and even that seems to not work and I probably have to cancel a credit card and dispute the charge
Can someone please either tell me how to bypass the verizon warning so I can get CM13 (i found a thread that talked about editing some system files, but looked very risky) or even better, help me with a download of the firmware, should be 1.5 GB in size so I can reflash with Odin
Please help before I or the phone break
Use samsung kies for the firmware. You will not get cm13 on nk1, stop trying or you will hard brick.

[Help]

Hello,
I currently have a AT&T factory unlocked G965U build R16NW.G965USQU3ARG7 on T-Mobile and I want to update to Pie. Yesterday I popped an activated AT&T SIM card to update the device to Pie and had no OTA luck. Can I download the latest version PPR1.180610.011.G965USQU3CSAB and install it via ODIN or do I need to do an incremental upgrade. I also tried updated to R16NW.G965USQS3ARG8 via SD card sideload and got an “error 7”, I do not care about the data on the phone. Should I only use ODIN or ADB? Also I can't seem to locate AT&T's version of Pie. If someone can guide me in the right path it would be great-full.

What I did for my ATT device, is changed the date to 22 Feb 2019 or a few weeks out, and then ran the OTA checker on the device and then it started downloading to update to pie. Either way, good luck and thread moved here...

New SM-G965U on VZW won't update -- Can I flash new stock firmware without rooting?

I got a new S9+ for my wife who does NOT want a rooted phone and all that that entails.
I was active in rooting many years ago, but have not strayed from the straight and narrow for some time.
I have a new unlocked SMG965U (not bought from Verizon) recently activated. It is Android 8.0.0, firmware .....BRK1 (I don't have the phone in front of me at the moment), last (and only) security patch dated Nov 1, 2018. I have noted from Verizon's web site they have moved up to pie, and have had quite a few security updates since that time. Looking for updates on the phone or through Smart Switch tells me the phone is up to date. There's a Verizon-Samsung utility that runs on PC for updating software that give an error message to the effect of "Firmware on phone does not support updating".
So, could someone point me in the right direction to determine, first, if it's possible to update the phone without rooting with stock firmware, and which guide I should use? Does Odin require a rooted phone, or is it simply a matter of me locating the proper update and following Odin directions?
Thanks
Odin does not require root and yes just need the correct update Sam mobile has all the latest files you need to use odin I would go there for what you need
