They said in their MWC event spring but their website says late spring so between April and June. No prices announced but expect between £800- £1000. You can however select to be notified on its release from their official website
I expect they will be bundling with a pre order gift by that time to price it competitively against the s10/+, for 950eur.
The last Sony handset I bought was the "P900"(I still have it!), but I really look forward to buying the Xperia 1 !
I just hope that they release it on time!

well T Mobile here in the netherlands are always the 1st with new xperias because T Mobile and Sony have together a shop(s) here so for sure they get the Xperia 1 also

The xperia 1 just went up for preorder on Amazon. Its available in both black and purple. Release date states dec31 which is obviously a place holder. The price is $999.99 so the same as the s10 plus. Do you think preorders would go up if the phone was nearly three months away? I really hope we get at worst a late April release date.

Hoping it's not like the XZ Premium, where it was announced in MWC 2017 (feb) but released in June. Though the wait was nice, it was and still is a great phone. Hoping the wait is worth it!

Thank you for the information, a flat display is much better for putting screen protectors and in case the phone is slipping out of your hand and falling down.

That's so nice.! Here in US, I don't remember last time T-mobile offered Sony Xperia phone. Probably would pre-order it from Amazon. But need to see reviews first!
Feels like Sony's taking forever to release the phone just like their old devices, I mean they made so much of Buzz and now no one's talking about it. No news, no reviews or no release dates. So how on earth they're planning on getting back on?

This morning I was talking to a dealer here in Pune and he had not even heard about the phone. He said there was little to no interest in Motorola phones and that he would get one only on a confirmed order.
Motorola has a lot of work to do here in India to get some shelf space again.

The Bombay scene is quite different dude...any new smartphone, irrespective of the brand, sells like a hot cake..HTC, SE, Moto even the damn Karbon and other ****y brands, u name it and they have it...I can suggest a couple of stores if you gonna come towards Bombay...ALpha, Anupam stores(though I personally had a bad experience, not with the phone but with the staff) etc...
It should drop around 28k in the 2-3 month according to my guess...but you never know...

I stay 10 mins away from Alfa...Went there yesterday and even the staff there has not heard of this phone...I went to my regular dealer Cell City at 4 bungalows and he contacted the Motorola distributor for me....according to him the phone will come only in december..((

Croma? Mobile Store? There are many stores, I have faith in Moto, it will be out on 18th, but only at the MRP...if u want a cheaper device, you will have to wait...sad but true.

I would really suggest you guys wait for a while...like Jan or Dec, reason? Its Christmas in a months time...Holiday season, many many new phones and price drop for the current ones...its a v competitive market...

Dude i really suggest you go to croma an check the green tint...no matter what people say here, I think the damn screen has a green tint...

Are you sure croma has it in stock...the Juhu (Mumbai) one does not have it yet...As far as the screen is concerned I don"t think the screen would be worse than my GSII...

dude...seriously, hold your horses...check it first, see it with your eyes...seeing is believeing they say...seenif it had a green tint (if it matters to you that is) I am reading in countless places people have returned their devices...so, IMHO, wait. See how it goes for atleast a month...this is my opinion...its your decision finally...
I went for a long walk to my local Croma.
When I enquired with the Sales Person if they had the Motorola Razr available, he just looked at me with a blank face. I told him it was a new android phone, still blank face, I then just walked away.

The thing is a slight green tint dosent bother me that much...Im totally sold on the design, call quality, build quality and materials used in this phone and each and every review has praised these points...I seriously hate the build quality of the GSII and im sure the Galaxy nexus will be no different...i want an android which actually looks and feels like a high end phone and i dont see anything topping the razr for atleast the next 6 months...Plus i know Im in a serious minority but i absolutely hate the Ice cream sandwich interface and Roboto font....IMO Gingerbread rocks and the Razr would be the best Gingerbread phone...))
PS : Forgot to mention that the worst thing according to me about this phone is the larger than normal bezel which was going to be a deal breaker for me..but after watching the phone several times i kind'a got over it..)

If that doesn't bother U much, its fine...for me its a big thing. I compared my HD7 with the SGS II and believe me, i hate Samsung even more. They can't even get a basic shade like white right...i mean common man...anyways...i completely agree with U a out Razr's design...its a superb, masculine & cool android device...

I opened this topic because officially Sony has not given yet a release date for the aforementioned products.
I live in Italy, which is basically the third world for anything remotely technological, and I gave up asking various clerks for the Xperia Z Ultra (launch was due mid September worldwide, here nobody knows nothing about it), let alone asking for accessories.
It might be the same as asking for a microprocessor at a grocery store.
So I sent Sony an email, I tweeted them, but no response whatsoever.
I scoured the net for dates, and as of now only Clove in the UK seems to have a date (September 13), but even that's not sure 100%.
All I want to know is, as a friend of mine is going to NY on September 17th, if I could tell him for sure to bring me back a SBH-52 and a SmartWatch 2,and possibly how much would he pay them, and maybe where to search for them.
I know I'm asking a lot here, but maybe there are some New Yorkers here that could give me an advice...
My friend is not as tech savvy as us, so I don't want him to run around in circles to search for a unicorn that will be on sale next month...
I only saw price for the sbh52 on UK webstores, they talk about 64£ with VAT for mid September. Couldn't find any US website, or maybe didn't look so well. So with today rate exchange it would be about $100. Didn't look for the smart watch 2.

The SBH-52 is priced in Germany at 64€ ~ 85USD, and the SmartWatch 2 at 179€ ~ 235USD.
But usually the devices here get the same value in USD then in Euro, due to VAT, customs and generally higher price level.
So if it will be tagged at 149$ (just as an example!) or whatever, we get the same in Euro.
Both are not set up with a release date yet. But for me its quite evident/presumable, that they will be avail together with the XZU Europe/US release as both were hardly advertised with.
I know, if I had to guess I'd say 199 USD for the SmartWatch 2, and around 70 for the SBH-52.
So it sums up to 270 USD, a little more than 200 euros.
If they make it available from September 17th or before it will save me 70 euros, not bad uh?
If they throw the SmartWatch 2 at 149 USD I'll be more than pleased...
P. S. Does anybody know how much costed the last SmartWatch at launch?

I have been looking around as well for price availability and release date. For a week or so Sonymobile.com/gb had a price for the SBH52 as £79.00 with coming soon with a Buy now option which didn't work. They have a corrected it now and it just says coming soon.
As you might know clove.co.uk is selling it for £64.99, while amazon.co.uk seems to be out of stock and will dispatch as sson as they receive them. Amazon is selling it for £56.03..I have placed an order and just Waiting

Not yet, but I might get one soon.
The watch vibrates and lights up like the old one, but the vibrate is MUCH more powerful.
I haven't had time to play so far, but Watchit! allows you to receive the notifications from apps you select

Decided to start a separate thread here dedicated to the Sony Smart Watch 2 as the other thread was getting mixed up with the SBH52.
Just read over at droid-life that the Sony Smart Watch 2 is now available for only ~$170usd from Mobile fun. Pretty good price considering earlier rumors were it was going to be ~$250+. I put in my order from Kogan for ~$175 but I think they were being dodgy and selling a pre-order without advertising it. Just got an email from Kogan today saying my order has been delayed for another 5 days . Thinking of cancelling and buy from Mobile Fun instead.

what deal on amazon was this which gave away free smartwatch?
Been using mine for about a week. I'm glad I didn't pay for it but as a freebie it's OK. Screen is quite poor quality (think late 90's colour screen phone). Emails don't display pictures & when viewing pictures through the slideshow app you only get a zoomed in view of the middle of the pic.
As I said. It's OK for free but I'd be annoyed if I paid £120-160 for it.

Not a super useful gadget...
Screen is disappointing indeed.
Battery is weaker than I would have thought, needs daily charge.
i like a smartwatch badly, sadly sony looks like bad option. i wish they would of stick with OLED instead of going with LCD ON A FREAKIN' watch
Screen choice was very smart imo, the "always on" nature of the time screen itself yet still with good battery life is great to have.
Yeah, you need to be able to actually see it outside, something AMOLED tends to have trouble with.
purchased the smartwatch 2 from mobilefun on tuesday and after "fraud" checks, i received an email on friday stating it was on backorder til the 23rd. this upset me as i paid for the expedited shipping, so i cancelled order and ordered it from newegg yesterday and it should be here on monday. lol
to sum it up, newegg > mobilefun.

I have to retract my statement, it started to work for me. i turned on the bluetooth on the sw2 and it was able to connect fine together with the sbh52. so all in all loving it

I was told it shipped , but it has not arrived yet ... I did just get an email
stating my SBH52 order is held up do to being sold out . This is upsetting
considering I pre-ordered it from there site & was given a ship date of OCT 2'nd
& now I'm being told I have to wait til the end of the month ...
Is it still worth getting?

I would not buy it again.
ColorOS is really bad.
You can't have more than 5 apps starting up.
ColorOS disables apps.
Support is really bad.
There is no other rom to to put on
The phone it's self is great, but that's where the good things about it end.

i think it's worth to buy it, the kernel source code just released and it's gonna be custom development in near time.
I Stongly advise against it (take notice) they are charging £799, I paid £500 ok it was the chinese version. However ColorOS is painfully bad, development despite the kernel source being available will be non existent, as the bootloader needs unlocked, this as yet can't be done without the deep test which is impossible.
It's by design one of the best I have owned, but I sold and bought the Vivo Nex S, which is way better and again only paid £500.
Don't say you weren't warned ......buy at your own risk and at £799 well that's quite the risk...

I have the international version and my previous phone was a iPhone. I am not into development so the issues that some raise do not concern me. I am even too scared to change my theme to the ones advertised on this forum as I might mess something up. For me the phone is great, it ticks all the boxes and looks amazing. The only gripe I have is that on the international version which I own the theme store is not enabled. Hopefully they will enable it soon. I also like that not many have it, so it's unique, but that is also a bad thing as the aftermarket support as far as repairs and cases excreta are very limited. Would I buy again? Yes.
I have the UK version (my third FX) and can confirm it still has all the notification issues as usual.

The only place I can find to pre order is www.clove.co.uk and they only have the Black 256g model
I saw Clove too and have used them before but they say its 256 but Huawei say the pro + only comes with 512? And that is in their own shop page. Not sure why Clove have got this wrong, may be just a typo but unless they change the specs or confirm it, i think people will pre order elsewhere. There is only one model being released in Europe, just in 2 colours according to their statement.
Looks like Clove have upset the trading standards too. The picture in the add is a p40 pro and not the plus. See screenshot. I hope Clove sort it out as they are trusted sellers.

I'm not convinced that trading standards goes around giving 5 star reviews and issuing advice in this way.
I'm not sure but the Chinese version should be out and in people hands already.

If you buy from the Huawei uk website just be sure to take screenshots of any offers. They tried to fob customers off with an inferior product for the P40 Pro launch having edited their web site afterwards.
