Should I update from MiUI 9 to 10? ? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,
I am puzzled with my options and perhaps you guys can help.
So, I have just received my Poco F1 today.
I have seen some videos beforehand and I have noticed that some users were complaining from battery issues as we as the removal of the notch option (which I wanted to use) with the new MiUI 10 and the updates.
Now, if you are a user of the pocophone F1,would you recommend me to update or stick to 9 until a safe update is releases? Also, anyone tried to roll back or flashed manualy MiUI 9 if I wanted to roll back? ?
Many thanks for your help guys :good:

most of users will encourage you to update but its a fact that miui 9 battery performance is better than miui 10.
as for the hide notch feature you can install notcha notch from playstore and get the same feature.
as for the roll back, i think its only on paper coz when i tried to go back to miui 9 from miui 10 it flashed ok but i lost touch response completely and regained it after flashing miui 10.
hope that helped

Thank you, this has been helpful

No Mi device except the MI Note Pro gets Lollipop MIUI atm. Our Mi Pad will be upgraded to Lollipop when MIUI 7 gets released (although there's no ETA for it yet).
For better experience with Mi Pad I suggest that you replace MIUI with CM11. It will completely change your experience.
Hi Kage, congrats for your new Mi Pad.
Regarding your query, Mi Pad will get 5.0 sooner with MIUI 7.
For the transparent notification bar, you need to update your MIUI rom to developer or china rom. Since you are on stable rom, your notification area is of grey color.
Hope I helped you.

my mipad is acting strange lately.
can't seem to turn on the wifi. right now it is showing stuck on with
'Turning Wi-Fi on...'
what i have done so far :
1.restart/reboot multiple times
2.fastboot flash using latest stable global miui.(originally i bought this from china, so the original stock rom was indeed a chinese version.)
i still hope its not a hardware issue coz that would be totally suck big time.
anyone know how to fix this. please, i really need help here guys.

Boot to recovery.
Work down the list:
Wipe cache
Wipe data
Wipe/ reset.
Reboot after each one and check.
It should resolve it.

Mi Pad has been updated to a stripped down "MIUI 7" that is based off of 4.4 Kit Kat. Sadly.
Miui 7 is fine even if based on kit kat, had mine 15 months rock solid performance a great investment
Back on stock recovery and no root
hows the performance on the latest stable MIUI 7 rom for this tablet?

Android 10 for Mi 8 Lite

Do you think Xiaomi updated the Mi 8 Lite to the recently released version of Android 10?
Will someone give development to customs roms of Android 10 for the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite?
Hold your jets pal. We dont even have a rock solid Pixel Experience on Pie.
My advice. Go test the latest builds, use the phone, report back and then maybe we will have Android 10.
Eventhough not officially announced, it's almost guaranteed at this point Xiaomi will update it to Android 10. Usually it's 2 years of version updates and 3 years of security updates. The estimated release date is somewhere between Q4/2019 (Mi 8) and Q1/2020 (Redmi Note 7).
That beeing said, don't hold your breath on it. Kernel sources usually get available at a much later date. Until we have high quality, rock stable custom Android 10 ROMs, most likely another year will pass.
I'm optimistic about this. @nysadev even made a guide on how to install Android 10 GSIs on platina, so i think soon we'll have (not stable) custom roms
there will be an android 10 miui for mix 2s. miui 11 will come first as android 9 later it will update to android 10.

Apparently no one has new issues about what will happen with Android 10 in the Mi 8 Lite, in the same way my cell phone was stolen and I'm not interested much because It makes no sense to remain interested in something that I no longer have :/

Most Stable official Rom?

I recently bought Mi note 10 lite and its on miui 11 right now. Since I won't be able to roll back the firmware I wanted to ask which one should I use to update. Should I update to lates official rom from ota? Is there any complaints about the updates?

Wait until MIUI 12.5 as MIUI 12.0, 12.1 and 12.2 drains battery crazy.

If it can be reversed, at least I did it from Android 11 (miui 12.1.1), I was in global miui 12.0.3 and also tried miui eu, however I ended up going back to the factory ROM.
The best ROM for the mi note 10 Lite is miui 11.0.8 in performance and battery.
regards

This can be concluded as 'Do not update.'
The main concern now is about the old security patch, which may risk the data in the device from hacking. An alternative attempt to fix security problems is to install trusty ( I mean famous and good rated) antimalware app(s), which may take a little bit of storage and use a little bit of battery.
AOSP or debloated roms can be also nice battery-wise and speed-wise, but there are stability concerns, bugs and can also affect security.

The issue of security is relative in the devices because it will depend on the type of use you give it, personally I still do not think there is a stable and secure ROM better than Miui 11.0.8 (at the moment).
As I discussed earlier, I have tested all the official ROMs on this device and none will be better in fluidity and battery management than the factory ROM.
We'll see what happens to miui 12.5, but for now I'm staying where I am.

You are absolutely right, it is better to wait a few months while we see how the official and custom ROMs evolve because at the moment there is nothing stable.
Greetings.

It may be worth mentioning that it is rumored that MIUI 12.5 is fluid but battery is still kind of, bad. The MIUI 12.5 is still in alpha state (China devloper version) though, hope that the battery drain is fixed in the final stable build.
We might need to wait for MIUI 13 and probably battery life will get better...

Unfortunately, because of warranty concerns, I don't want to unlock BL. This breaks the warranty. Hence I dont have chance roll back.
Right now my rom is 11.0.4 and I found a problem where I am not able to use slow motion recording. Camera just stops responding.

Hello friend ..
I found the performance and battery problems in the global versions 12.0.3 and 12.1.1, in the same way in the custom ROM of miui.eu 12.0.3.
I understand that Xiaomi does not remove the warranty for unlocking the bootloader, but still, I think you can try updating to the version of miui 11.0.8 because it runs very smoothly for me and is the best.
Regards.

Por supuesto
Link: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/15842/
Download the Zip and move it to the downloaded_rom folder.
Then go to settings, About the Phone, then update system and on the miui 11 logo, touch several times to activate the advanced installation options.
Go to the 3 points on the top right and select package to update. Select the package saved in the downloaded_rom folder.
The download link is from miui 11.0.8 global, if you need the miui EEA tell me.

POCO F1 pixel exp update from Android 9

Hi Team, I was living under a rock and have been on android 9 for last 2 years now wanted to upgrade to Android 11.
Is it possible to skip android 10?
I have update the TWRP to latest version any other things to mind, I would still wanna remain with pixel exp +
Thanks for the help.
Updated**
Hi, it depends on which device you have. As you know Android does not support updates very long for certain devices. So, first check if your device still can receive updates from Android and if not, see if you can update to Android 10, which is much better than 9. Kind regards kuzibri

I am using Poco F1. No official updates and I dont like miui. Please advise if I can flash android 11 on top of android 9? Same rom pixel exp
I think yes, you can flash directly the latest PE. See HERE and HERE. Clean flash, with formatting (not only wiping) several partitions is a must.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren downgrade

Hi everyone, I’m new here and soon I will receive my OnePlus and right now is on oos 11 but I really want to put oos 10 because i like it more and will be my first OnePlus and I think oos 10 will give best experience, of course I want good battery life as well and I saw people saying oos 10 had the best battery life.
Thank you
@DragosDrg
Get this rollback package, rename it from .jar to .zip, and perform a local update to the package in settings (cog wheel in system update page in settings). You need to do it twice (because you have a 7T) but it should work after that.
Thank you!!
