Can't fully restore TWRP backup vendor partition structure needs cleaning - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I tried to uninstall the security package in stock MIUI Rom, however I started getting bootloops after that. I made a TWRP backup just before trying this out, so I tried to restore it. However even after restore I'm still getting bootloops.
Then I tried to Wipe everything, however TWRP reports error can't mount vendor partition (structure needs cleaning). I can't mount Vendor either in Mounts. It could be restore operation is unable to bring back vendor partition that is why it is still failing ?
What can I do to fix it ? I still would want to restore my backup, don't want to flash another ROM right away..
I'm on stock MIUI 10.2 ROM with official TWRP and Magisk installed.

Apprantly I'm not the only one, it seems TWRP can't properly restore MIUI roms

[Q] Unable to flash roms, Partition error?!

I'm running TWRP v2.3.0.1 and I've been having a lot of trouble the past few days trying to flash roms. I was on a stock rooted evo lte with s-on two days ago.
I decided to try out the cm 10 and used flash image gui to flash the boot and then was on cm 10. Decided that I wanted a more stable rom (gps wasn't working) So i went back and restored my original backup of my stock rooted evo. However, the wifi is not working (all it says is wifi - error, won't turn on). So i did a little research and thought maybe something with switching back and forth between kernels went wrong. I'll try to flash a sense based rom the same way i did cm 10. At this point i try to make another backup just incase and its going through everything in twrp and in the end it says backup failed. So i figure well the orignal backup I have is fine and continue
So i open meanrom up in flash image gui it does its thing (clear dalvik, cache). Reboot into recovery go to install meanrom and get the following:
"-mean rom logo-
Formatting and mounting partition...
e:error in /sdcard/meanrom-ics-v48-jewel-ltevo.zip
(status 1)
error flashing zip '/sdcard/meanrom-ics-v48-jewel-ltevo.zip'
updating partition details"
and twrp says FAILED, at this point i'm thinking maybe a bad download i'll try another rom/download
So at this point i restore my system and once again wifi is not working and try the same using freshrom. flash image gui, clear cache, etc. Reboot into recovery and gives me the same error and says failed.
So now i'm stuck on a stock rom backup that worked fine when i orginally backed it up but now wifi has an error? doesn't make any sense to me and i'm not sure why i'm unable to flash and roms or create new backups
Try flashing TWRP 2.2.2.0 in fastboot
i was able to fix wifi using vel7wil advice in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900759&highlight=wifi+error so for now everything is working on my backup. I'll see if i'm still having issues flashing roms now.

[Q] TWRP Wont Back up... need new rom anyways?

HI all... i have a Verion Note 2. Running Sophisticated 3.1 on 4.3.1
TWRP 2.6.3.1
Fails on backing up /data partition
Give me a E: Error tarring split files when i try to backup
Tried updating to 2.7 and it sees the data partition as 1300 GB so that wont work
Tried updating TWRP to latest version 2.8.1 and 2.8.4 then it gives me Unable to STAT
My rom is getting all kinds of problems, so time for a new one anyways.... I'm just worried if i dont have a backup and i wipe... etc. and then i cant flash a new rom...
Should i be worried about this? should i just wipe this and try flashing a new rom? Or is my /data partition corrupted? How do i fix this?
Suggestions??
FIXED - Factory reset.... duh

Backing up stock firmware

How to backup stock firmware on twrp as i backup stock firmware on twrp n when i want to restore it gives error encryption failure need to reset your phone, am i doing anything wrong in backing up
no need to restore. if u install a custom rom over miui, the miui's firmware partition will not be removed/deleted. u only wipe system+data+cache+dalvik, firmware partition remains the same as before
Encrypt with flash oficial roms. Never use oficial roms.
To solve go to twrp, in wipes menu chose format data partition in ext4.
Use always xiaomi.eu roms.

Cannot Flash Rom / Restore - Error 7, Error 1001, Cannot mount System

Hey everybody,
I was on LOS 15.1 for a rather long time and I wanted to try RR, so as usual I backed up my system and tried to flash the RR-rom.
It did not work at all and I got several errors among which error 7 and the unability to mount system partition were the most prominent.
The device got bricked several times but I got it back to life with MiFlashTool, running either MIUI 8.5 or MIUI 9.
The strange thing is that even after flashing the MIUI-img - and basically bringing the device back to its factory firmware - I could not flash a rom.
I tried several recoverys; the latest TWRP, the TWRP linked in the LOS15.1 thread and OrangeFoxRecovery. None of them would work. I wiped all partition, nothing worked. I got different errors shown, most of them were error 7 or not being ablke to mount system, as stated before.
Right now I am back to MIUI and rooted it, which worked from OrangeFox, but I actually would like tzo run a custom rom again.
Any idea what I could do?
Cheers!
Noone who has an idea why it would not work?
I thought that after flashing via Flashtool the phone would be as good as new and all prioir changes would be gone? Wha can I not flash anything via recovery and get erros?
Or are there different versions of Orange Fox Recovery? RR would be treble, so I would need a treble recovery.
Cheers!
Have you tried to format internal storage?
If not backup data in sdcard or pc and format it using recovery.
Are you using trble supported recoveries?
Did you encrypted your data while using Lineage OS?
Hey,
well, yes, I encrypted data but since reinstalling MIUI via Flashtool this is gone. And I thought that this should be enough and reflashing it via MiFlash is like a factory reset? Is there anything I did not consider?
After Flashtool did not do the trick, wiped everything but External memory in TWRP, no kelp either.
I also did the normal wipe (where you dont have to choose which partition), this did not help.
As I said, I am currently on the latest OrangeFox Recovery but I also tried the latest TWRP and the TWRP in the LOS 15.1-Thread, which did not help.
To my knowledge all of the are treble recoverys?
I also tried to restore a vackup of LOS which did not work...
I flashed

When you reply quote, I didn't get notifications for your reply.
Your bootloader is unlocked and you installed Twrp recovery.
Try copying Rom zip to SD card and wipe system, data, cache, dalviks cache, internal storage (exclude sd card off course). Then install it.
It should work
As I said, I did all of this, yet it does not work.
After wiping I tried to flash RR rom...
I get "Patching system image unconditionally...
Then I get E1001: Failed to update system image. (in white)
Updater process ended with: ERROR 7 (in red)
Error installing zip file 'patch...' (in red)
Updating partition details (in white)
Failed to mount '/system' (Invalid Argument) (in red).
As I said, that happens with different recoverys and different roms (treble and non treble)

Are you sure the Rom you installating is for your device because error 7 occured if the rom you are trying install is not for your device.
Yes, of course, it was the correct ROM. Before error 7 I got error 1001 and I guess this was the initial problem.
My guess it that the problem was the decrypted partition which I did not format in twrp in my first go. Every wipe and format afterwards somehow did not help...
Now after having flashed recovery and different roms 10 times and using miflash 10 times it worked and now I am on RR. Don't ask me what eventually did the trick.

Great to know
I hated MIUI because of the bloatware and ads. Have fun using RR. If you want you can use Liquid Remix Pie its a great ROM.
Yes. I also did not like MIUI that much, that's why I was using Lineage before I wanted to try RR: Thanks for the advice for anothe rom.
i fix this issue by format data, not only wipe then restart the recovery and install the ROM, then finally it works !

If I format data, then I have to reboot into the recovery menu to be able to use data again. But this is impossible, because it gets stuck into the bootloop every time I try to reboot. Any other option to fix this error?
EDIT:
I could fix it myself:
1. MIUI latest version; flash with MiFlash.
2. flash TWRP with e.g. YUware
3. flash latest fw_vendor in TWRP
4. full update pixel expierence (NOT incremental) rom flash
5. Partitions/Data/Format
6. Reboot and ready to use

Bootloop aftert restoring a TWRP backup

As the title says I always get a bootloop into recovery when the restore process finishes.
I tried everything, flashing the same rom as in the backup before restoring, however it never boots normally.
As I am on a stock MIUI 13 I flashed the stock image and then restored the backup, still a bootloop into recovery.
No matter what I do I am unable to restore my TWRP backup, so every time I want to try a new ROM I end up reinstalling everything from scratch.
Is it because my data is encrypted, or dynamic partitions? This never happened with any of my previous phones, is it possible to restore a backup on Mi10?

Backups and restore on the TWRP with some phone models does not work correctly either because it does not decrypt or is too old compared to the rom or you try to restore an older rom version on a more recent rom and sometimes the reverse also does not work (because of the system).
Try a more recent Twrp (just in case) but anyway the restoration will not be done with a more recent Twrp.
If you are on MIUI micloud works relatively well but obviously you can only restore the data not the system.

try flashing miui 12 rom first, then restore twrp back up (format data also before restoring)
and chose the latest version of twrp for android 11 or 12 (depends on your Rom)
maybe it will work
